On certain sport utility vehicles equipped with 16-inch wheels, the front brake discs may break under severe driving conditions. the breakage can occur in conditions where the vehicle IS driven on a regular basis on extremely steep paved down-slopes while continuously applying the brakes.

The front brakes may become inoperative and the vehicle may pull to one side. this could result in a crash without prior warning.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the front brake discs on these vehicles. the recall began on november 10, 2005. these vehicles are located on st. Thomas island (virgin islands). owners may contact suzuki del caribe at 787-622-0600.

Risk
If the inner accelerator cable becomes frayed, it can stick during vehicle operation. in the case where an accelerator cable sticks, the driver could have difficulty controlling vehicle speed, which could result in a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the accelerator cable, which includes the plastic casing cap. owner notification began on january 5, 2004. owners should contact suzuki at 1-800-934-0934.

Ac compressor went out twice in my 2002 suzuki XL-7. Once in august 2009 and again in may 2012. I had to have it replaced twice because it was a pretty hot summer. It assume if the car last another few years, I will have to replace it again. How annoying! Also, after the summer months, during the winter months when I need to turn on the heat, the service engine light comes on. I got this tested and it had to do with the ac compressor. This makes sense because the XL-7 compressor IS dual. It's runs ac and heat. power steering has been leaking for the past year. I would add power steering fluid every two weeks or so. But now it's progressively gotten worse. I have to add fluid every other day. front and back bumper IS displaying corrosion. It looks like the metal hinges that hold up the bumpers are wearing and you can see it. this car was not built to last. I foresee many more issues. *tr

Condensation from vehicles air conditioning drips onto the insulation around brake line that IS supposed to protect brake line from exhaust manifold heat. living in texas the vehicle rarely IS turned on without the air conditioning. the continued saturation, drying and vibration of normal day to day use caused a leak in one of the two brake lines leading to the rear of the vehicle. this was discovered after owner reported spongy feeling and loss of brake holding strength while in stopped position. upon further inspection it was noticed both brake lines behind protective insulation has sever oxidation closest to the ends that are attached to an adapter. fix that I employed was to bypass the extension that ran from the top of the engine down the passenger side, entered the insulated extension and then entered the adapter then into the rear brake lines. I was able to bypass all the unneeded joints with 2 48 brake lines and 2 couplings bought from local auto parts and rerouted line from driver side down across rear side of undercarriage then directly into rear brake line. the a/c no longer drips onto the brake line.

While driving at 65-70 mph on the highway, the air conditioning compressor locked up and snapped the belt causing the power steering to stop working and the car to overheat. I paid 1200 to have it fixed about 2 years ago. Now the new one IS making a lot of noise and needs to be replaced. I looked on message boards and see that this IS a huge problem on these cars for hundreds if not thousands of people. This company needs to correct this problem. It's a major safety issue and very expensive to fix multiple times. *Tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 suzuki XL-7. while driving approximately 65 mph, the contact heard a knocking sound. the air conditioning shut off and she exited off the interstate. in addition, the power steering would not allow her to turn properly. she turned off the vehicle and attempted to restart it, but the failures continued. the contact managed to drive to a service station and the mechanic stated that the issue may have been the power steering. she purchased fluid, but another mechanic stated that the belt failed. the contact went to an auto parts store and a mechanic replaced the belt. she then took the vehicle to a dealer who stated that the air conditioning compressor needed to be replaced and would cost approximately $2,500. she went to an auto service shop and the mechanic disabled the air conditioning mechanism because it could potentially be a safety hazard, if activated. the compressor has not yet been replaced. a report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that they could not assist. the current mileage was approximately 62,000 and failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

I have taken it in to a mechanic and he said the compressor went out and not only did that go out but when it died it created metal shavings which were sucked into two other parts. the mechanic said that it IS rare that a compressor should go out at 63,000 miles and it could effect the power steering. I am currently having the parts replaced because I am 6 months pregnant and need heat for the new baby. the parts will be available if needed. *tr

On 12/10/05 at 1303 hrs a registered dot truck #707794 caused physical damage to my vehicle when a large sheet of ice slid off the moving us dot truck and struck and destroyed my driver side mirror. The us dot registered vehicle IS owned by f&v distribution company llc at 5 dakota drive, suite 205 lake success new york 11042. A police report was filed with the new jersey pensauken police department case#05-61550. The us dot registered vehicle IS insured by united states fire insurance company policy #1337203233, no phone numbers are currently available for either the f&v distribution company or their insurance company and I have been unable to receive any cooperation from them. I am a senior citizen who was driving the affected vehicle, a 2002 suzuki XL7 that sustained the damage by this us dot registered truck. After numerous attempts to contact the united states insurance company that insures this us dot registered vehicle, I have not been able to report or file a claim number, I merely seek the $500 deductible that my insurance co. Will require to repair my vehicle. Please let me know how to proceed as I feel I am, as a senior citizen living in the state of new jersey, being taken advantage of by, f& v distribution company, llc and the united states fire insurance company that insures this vehicle. I was pulling into my garage and I had my foot on the brake not the accelerator pedal. The engine surged and pulled my truck into the front wall of my garage resulting in body damage to the hood and front bumper. After hitting the wall, the wall being what stopped me, my truck came back down to a normal idle. At this point, the brake pedal was able to be pushed all the way to the floor and after the incident my power windows were malfunctioning. The windows would not roll down, but made a very loud clicking noise when we would press the button to roll them down. My truck has been to two different dealers on more than 3 occasions for this problem. They are unwilling to fix anything. However, last time I had my truck in for this problem, the service manager told me that suzuki was aware of the problem, but did not consider it to be a safety issue. Therefore, they are not offering any sort of solution to me at this time. I would like to add that I had my 5 year old daughter in the vehicle with me at the time of the accident.

The tire company says that the alignment IS not out enough to damage the tires. Other people has had this problem and there IS complaints on the nhtsa website they have also heard of the 2003 with the same problem. *tt

Technician will need to determine what type of call the customer IS having that IS unwanted. The vehicle may receive an incoming call just like any other phone. Typically the customer will hear the phone ringing in the vehicle. This scenario also includes incoming bluetooth calls. One type of unwanted call can be made if the key pad IS faulty the onstar system will try to make a blue button call for shorted voltage in the circuits. The onstar module could have an internal fault and produce a phone unavailable audio message also it may have a diagnostic trouble code u1500 or b1000. Refer to diagnostics for the diagnostic trouble code making sure to follow any applicable bulletins or preliminary information sheets. A greadyh or gonstar readyh audio message heard while driving. In some cases it has been found that the customer IS inadvertently pressing the push to talk button on the steering wheel controls. On rare occasions, other issues in the steering column or steering wheel control system may induce this concern.
