These records cover every 2006 Cadillac SRX. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
3 recalls name the 2006 Cadillac SRX. Newest first.
This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 2, 2014 that they are recalling 554,328 model…
If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 15, 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14172.
On certain passenger vehicles, the rear axle pinion seal does not meet all of the specifications and may experience a fluid leak.
A rear differential failure may cause loss of motive power and possibly loss of control increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the pinion seal free of charge. the recall began on february 1, 2008. owners may contact cadillac at 1-800-458-8006 or http://www.cadillac.com; pontiac at 1-800-620-7668 or http://www.pontiac.com; and saturn at 1-800-972-8876 or http://www.saturn.com.
Certain sport utility vehicles and trucks fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 110, "tire selection and rims." these vehicles have an incomplete tire rim designation on the certification/tire label located on the driver's door edge. in addition, the label may also be missing the tire load rating on the label.…
If a customer replaces a wheel and only relies on the rim size designation that IS indicated on the label, a wheel that IS of a different rim contour designation may be installed. it may be difficult or impossible to mount the tire on a wheel with the wrong contour. if the tire IS mounted on the wheel with the wrong contour, the wheel and tire may not perform as intended, which could increase the risk of a crash.
A label that will correct the label originally installed will be mailed to consumers along with installation instructions. the customer will have the option for dealers to install the label. the recall begaon on november 7, 2006. owners should contact cadillac at 1-866-982-2239, chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, and GMC trucks at 1-866-996-9463.
My car was parked for 2hrs 30 min. And I came to my car to it being burnt from under the passenger seat. Door panel is damaged and window is shattered and burnt. Roof is burnt.I think it was due to the electrical wiring from under the passenger seat.
Oil sending unit failure on 2006 cadillac SRX oil sending unit has been replaced 4 x leaks oil possibly causing fire or engine failure or both oil sending unit has been replaced 4 times!
The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that he noticed that oil was leaking on the garage floor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil-sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired five times, but the failure persisted. The dealer declined to repair the vehicle again. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure but provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Oil sensor unit failure causing engine to lose oil. A realproblem.
*The chest clip failed. At the beginning, we had a very hard time unlatching the chest clip to where we thought we needed to cut it. Later, the chest clip started to become very loose to where my son could undo it by just touching it, then one evening it did not latch on at all. *It is available for inspection upon request. *The car seat has not been inspected by anyone. The child seat is temporarily in my home until it is in the clear to be discarded after the recall. I have not notified Maxi Cosi.
2006 Cadillac SRX turn signals burn out within months or replacement. I made 2 videos of me fixing it, put on YouTube with over 35, 000 views. That must mean there are lots of folks with this problem that don't know where to report it. While driving, the indicator flashes a bit faster than it should - the only clue it isn't working. You think other drivers know your intentions and they don't. This is dangerous. Mechanics have to pull the bumper, a bit of work, and want over $300 to change the bulb. Over and over again. This is the 5th time in 3 years. 2nd problem is the "Stability System" - well, I'm not driving on ice, have never needed such a thing. This one nearly cause me to crash into a curb or parked car as I was making a left hand turn in our residential neighborhood at what 15 mph? Suddenly the wheel locked, tires locked and sent me screeching dangerously close to that parked car. It does have a warning, "Service Stability System" but the dealer will want a lot for that, too. So I've resorted to pushing the Disable button on the console until it says, "Stability System Off" then I can drive safely. I have not had this inspected. Everything that gets fixed on this Cadillac seems to break again.
Power train axle IS not right rear differential etc wheeels and rim get stuck when turnning either left or right key ring locks or get stuck. Shocks and stabitlty ligt comes on saying it needs fixing and tire sensor
When I turn on the car the gas gauge and the temp gauge do not move. The security and no traction warning lights stay on. When I drive the car on the street steering IS sluggish, the trans rpms are high, sometimes the car goes to the left while driving. On the radio there it reads anti theft system hit button to clear. When I turn off the car the key will not come out of ignition and I have to use screwdriver to push a button in steering column to release it. one week everything worked great, no warning lights, gauges worked, no high rpms on trans and steering was fine and the key came out of the ignition and nothing on radio about anti theft sys. But everything IS not working again and now engine light IS on.
Gas gage, temp gage doesn't light up, power steering doesn't work, tail gate won't open, t/c light stays on, lock light stays on ignition getting hard to turn key off, car stalled. 2006 cadillac SRX. When turning ignition on. It works some time when weather IS cold, when it warms up it quits working.
TL* the contact owns a 2006 cadillac SRX. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated and failed to move. Also, there was an abnormal clunking noise and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact called val ward cadillac (12626 s tamiami trail, fort myers, fl 33907, (239) 245-9308). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to nhtsa. The contact researched the failure and stated that it was due to the transfer case. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.
Vehicle stutters like it IS trying to turn off or the wheels are catching on something. This happens when first pulling out and sometimes when driving. Mostly happens after making a u turn. (Does not matter if the turn IS tight or not). car hesitates and then straightens itself out. This IS dangerous and hard to figure out. The first time it happened I had pulled into traffic in front of a big truck if there hadn't been a turn lane for me to get into he would have run me over. This has been happening for 3-4 months not. The stability control service just came up today. There are not warnings otherwise.
"Takata recall" change oil light on continuously even after oil has been changed and cannot reset. Airbag light on also both warning lights come on when cranking and while driving. My traction engages when emerging to turn on to incoming traffic the car slows down. My concern IS the roads are not wet or slippery for the traction to engage and that's a safety concern , it could cause an accident. My airbag light just recently started coming on and reading the owner's manual. It would be a safety issue if I had an impact it won't deploy or while driving it could deploy. I've heard that cadillac has a lot of electrical problems and I wanted to know if other people complained of these problems. It IS a safety issue and some people like me or not financially able to pay $100 plus dollars for the dealership to check it. Thank you in advance and I will look forward to hearing from you.
About 3years ago the dryshaft went bad on my 2006 srx.i asked the dealerships service manager was it a recall on the part and he said "no."i search for months after driving my car with the bad ride from the bad part and being limited for over 2YRS with not knowing, I finally got a used dryshaft for my car and now about 6 months later on wednesday 8/8/18, I pull off at the light and it feels light something knock something underneath my car.i get on the highway and this loud noise happens. The next day I take it to meineke and this one IS gone bad. I search the net on recalls for my car and there it is.now the dealership in my state IS telling me that my car IS not eligible because it already had the recall done before I purchased it in 2008.its the same part that goes bad on the car and its still going bad. Its your recall part period. Please tell me that you will replace it.please contact me asap! Thank you
TL* the contact owns a 2006 cadillac SRX. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact had to wait a few minutes before the vehicle was able to restart. Occasionally, the battery had to be disconnected and reconnected in order to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the instrument panel also failed to illuminate. During the most recent failure, the vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 168,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2006 cadillac SRX. While stationary, the vehicle's motor failed to stop running after the vehicle was shut off. Directly after the air conditioning unit was shut off along with the vehicle, there was a noise that came from under the hood that seemed to be coming from a secondary motor within the engine. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. The vin was not available.
Takata recall I have a cadillac SRX 2006 with very low mileage and there IS definitely an issue with the timing chain setup as well as the vehicles head lighting errors, from my research this IS definitely a fault from the company design and could have caused injury or even death
TL* the contact owns a 2006 cadillac SRX. While accelerating from a stop at approximately 5 mph, the "traction control engaged " warning message appeared. The vehicle independently went into four wheel drive mode and would not accelerate. It felt as if the anti-lock brake was engaged. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic and the steering angle position sensor was replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
TL* the contact owned a 2006 cadillac SRX. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hit a curb and drove into a building. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,814. Updated 10/26/16*lj *tr
Random traction control engagement and stability system both noted in radio -- but no conditions to warrant it and no codes to explain it--when checked nothing found. causes dangerous unexpected slowing of vehicle both at initial acceleration and turning which IS contrary to what would be expected by surrounding traffic. then sluggish w deceleration but no check light and mechanic can't figure. now will only drive forward, can't drive or even push in reverse. this event was preceded by loss of acceleration on highway (sluggish) -- also dangerous and still ni engine light!
While driving at a very slow speed the car tracking system light comes on and the car lost the ability to accelerate. I was in the medium of a very busy highway and almost had an accident because the more I push on the accelerator the car would not go any faster. This IS very dangerous and I am almost afraid to drive my vehicle. I have taken it to the shop for this problem and they had no idea why this was happening. I have to be very careful when at a stop sign getting ready to take off because I don't know if the car will accelerate or not. This has been happening for a long time and I am wondering if anyone else IS having this problem.
TL* the contact owns a 2006 cadillac SRX. While driving approximately 5 mph and making a turn, the contact struck a bump in the road and the brake pedal seized. The service stability system warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and functioned as normal. The failure recurred on one other occasion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000. The vin was unavailable.
This incident has happen twice and I was almost in a fatal car accident (killed). both incidents I pulled out of a drive way turn left the 1ST time and right the other and my brakes locked up on me and the system stability service stability system appeared on the dash, oncoming cars approach the car and I was almost hit with kids in the car with me; I had to shut down the car and restart. cadillac needs to get the issue fixed asap before it causes death. I am making this comment because if I have a fatal accident I will make sure my family IS aware of this issue. I have notice many many many people have complained about this issue and that it needs to be a recall. if cadillac fails to recall this issue blood will be on their hands. may god have mercy!
This IS the third incident with this vehicle involving the traction control stability system locking up. The last two event involved a crash. The most recent crash I broke my neck and I am in rehab recovery. This most recent crash involved a complete loss of control where the stability lights on the dash came on all of sudden on a snow / ice covered road, and the back end spun around and I crashed into the ditch along the road. I suffered a broken neck and still have the neck brace. as soon as the dash lights came on the vehicle was uncontrollable, and began to slide and spin off the road. This happened once before where the vehicle shifted to the side of the road in a jerking fashion for no reason when the dash lights came on. At that time I was also in a crash. *tr
The 3.6L motor leaks so much oil that when it gets low it creates a misfire condition and cause the vehicle misfire light to come on and power loss to happen. Check your oil often!!!! *tr
Power steering fluid leaked out from steering rack. Independent mechanic replaced for $950 dollars. One year later rack replaced again under mechanics warranty. Power steering pump failed because in was run while low on fluid due to steering rack leak for $450 dollars should have been covered under warranty. *tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Odi's investigation of the cadillac SRX glass roof did not identify any defective manufacturing process, design, or quality control issue with the SRX glass roof system.gm believes that the most likely cause of breakage IS stone or sharp object impact against the glass.the investigation included a peer multi-vehicle analysis.that analysis found that other vehicles with large glass roof systems experience random stone/object impacts and broken glass panels.the incident rate for the subject vehicles did not stand out in this analysis.the SRX ultraview power glass roof consists of up to three tempered glass panels surrounded by metal trim around the perimeter of the roof structure.the main front panel IS a large movable glass panel residing over the first and second row occupants.the middle non-movable panel IS not accessible from the inside.the rear non-movable panel IS an optional panel (ultraview plus option) and IS viewable from the inside.a safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will monitor this issue and reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.see summary report for additional information.
