General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. The rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image.
A rearview image that does not display correctly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 20, 2026. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262551720. The back up camera has a safety recall. The vehicle intermittently will have a distorted view from the back up camera, it looks like it is looking down a tunnel and is round around it. I told the service representative, Shea Stover, this when we dropped the car off. We waited months to get safety recall completed as the dealership had to get the parts in. We had it scheduled for drop off on Wednesday XXX. We were notified on Thursday XXX there was additional maintenance recommended we approved. I received a call from Shea Stover, at Hare Chevrolet Noblesville Indiana, in the service department later that day letting me know the vehicle is ready, never said safety recall was not completed. We took our [XXX] daughter to pick up the [XXX] as this is the vehicle we purchased for her to drive. I met with Shea he directed me to pay inside again no mention that safety recall was not completed. I read paperwork as driving away and saw it appeared it was not done. We went back I spoke to Shea and he says it was not distorted when the technician had vehicle and it had to to be happening while in the maintenance dept for them to complete the safety recall. I asked if we could take a picture or video of what it is doing, he said no it has to be happening when you bring it to be repaired. I was shocked! I called GM Customer service supervisor that says the safety recall does not say it has to be occurring at the dealership to be fixed and they should have fixed. She assisted me in scheduling at a different dealership. I am hoping I will not have the same issue all though Hare Chevrolet has marked the recall as complete on our Malibu and they refused to do the safety recall. The esc light came on, air conditioner fan speed went high then low and my screen flickered out momentarily. The esc light came on three more times, 10-15 seconds each time with no lights remaining on after and no other changes. The next time I drove, when turning the esc light came on and the steering locked up for about 5 seconds
Unknown, I parked the vehicle, got out of it, left car running for AC, locked the doors. The car was in park. Locks unlocked door, rear view camera display cut off, AC still running. I am viewing a house, so I walk around house and car still in park, 0-5min. I go in the house, 10-15 later, out of habit hit the lock buttons on car again, because I couldn't see it. When we exit the house the car is gone. Went in reverse and rolled across a road into a fence. When I arrived at the car, the doors were locked and the car was in reverse.

Vehicle was parked, all windows and doors closed. Key remained out of the vehicle. Car parked for several hours without being touched, when suddenly it began to roll forward on its own. The car continued forward and quickly went down a short hill into a rocky area of a field before coming to a stop.
Backup camera has blurred vision when in R, the view on the dashboard is extremely blurry and seems to be condensed/ wet. Please check and advise.
Chevy sold me a vehicle knowing that the radio was faulty and known to glitching out. I took it to the dealer and they replicated the problem. GM has known about the issue since 9/2024 when the issued the bulletin about the problem. They sold me the vehicle knowing that the problem existed and did not disclose that to me. That is a violation of CA law.
