Dorman IS recalling 979 steering knuckles, dorman p/nos. 697-902 and 697-903, sold under dorman's "oe solutions<sup>tm</sup>" brand name, and napa p/nos. 7-8502 and 7-8503 which were sold for replacement use on the various vehicles listed above. a potential material or design defect could result in the steering knuckle breaking in the hub area.

A broken steering knuckle could result in loss of steering control and a possible crash without warning.
Remedy
Dorman will notify owners and replace the defective steering knuckles free of charge and reimburse the repair facility or owner for labor. the recall began on february 23, 2009. owners may contact dorman's toll-free hotline at 1-800-523-2492 and press 5.
K2 motor IS recalling 1,921 aftermarket headlamps of various models sold for use on the above listed vehicles. these headlamps are missing the amber side reflex reflector which fails to conform with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

Without the amber side reflex reflectors, the lighting visibility may be affected, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
Remedy
K2 motor will notify owners and offer a full refund. the recall began on decemeber 17, 2008. owners may contact K2 motor at 1-909-839-2992.
Certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, p/nos. Fp10020-11b1, fp10026-11b1, and fp10027-11b1, sold after january 9, 2007, as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles listed above. the universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer.

Remedy
Delphi will notify owners and replace the upr free of charge. the recall began on april 23, 2007. owners can contact delphi at 877-411-8770.
On certain minivans equipped with second-row bucket seats or captain's chairs and a power sliding door on the passenger side of the vehicle, a passenger using the interior handle to open the power sliding door could be injured.
Risk and remedy

If a passenger uses the interior handle to open the power sliding door and holds onto the handle while it IS being opened by the motor, the passenger's arm may be pushed into the seat back or armrest and a wrist or lower arm injury may result.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the power sliding door interior handle on the passenger-side. if the vehicle IS equipped with a power or manual sliding door on the driver-side, the interior handle will also be replaced for appearance reasons. note: before the vehicle IS serviced, gm advises owners to not use the interior door handle to open the door. the driver can open and close the door from switches at the driver's position or by using the remote key fob. the driver should tell passengers to use the switch located in front of the door to open or close it. the driver should use the override switch to prevent operation of the power door by children or by others who are not familiar with its use. the owner notification letter mailing will be conducted in phases with the first phase beginning on may 31, 2005. the second phase mailing began on july 18, 2005. the recall began on may 31, 2005. phase 2 began on july 18, 2005. phase 3 (final phase) began on august 24, 2005, to all remaining customers. owners should contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438; pontiac at 1-800-620-7668; or oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537.

Dealers will inspect and, if required, install a new power sliding door unlatch actuator assembly. owner notification began on october 22, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, pontiac at 1-800-762-2737, or oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles, light duty trucks, sport utility vehicles, and MINI vans equipped with trw seat belt buckle assemblies. the buckle base of these seat belt assemblies were not properly heat treated and therefore do not pass the load bearing requirement of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 209, "seat belt assemblies."

Dealers will inspect the vehicle's safety belt buckle assembly date codes and, if necessary, will replace any safety belt buckle assembly.
Vehicle description: MINI vans with extended wheelbase. some of these vehicles have inoperative fuel tank rollover valves and fuel leakage would exceed the permissible amount in a rollover test. this does not comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 301, "fuel system integrity."

In January 2022, I noticed white smoke coming from the engine and a mechanic said it was the water pump that needed to be replaced, so I have it replaced. Recently, I noticed the same white smoke coming from the engine and took it back to the same mechanic who installed the water pump. The mechanic said it was the intake manifold that caused the white smoke. I decided to take it to another mechanic to see if the first diagnosis was correct and that mechanic confirmed the first mechanic's diagnosis and my previous experience with another GM vehicle (1997 Vhevy Lumina) that had the exact same problem: water pump went out and intake manifold also started to fail until the Lumina's engine was fried.

Car is losing coolant quickly, even though I have replaced the water pump about a month ago. Due to GM Manufactuing, they only allow Dex Cool coolant for their vehicles but not everyone carries Dex Cool. Also, the oxygen sensor code need to be read oxygen sensor only and not with 4 or 5 other codes.

Them going out caused us to roll through the intersection causing us to get hit by a vehicle coming through the light, spinning us around and got hit more than once. Hit us on both sides of vehicle and windows were shattered out but not one air bag went off/deployed at all and the vehicle was totalled.there were 3 babies in the vehicle when the air bags did not deploy.

Front l tire was low on pressure so took to a loca shop to have it checked thinking I just needed a patch. Wrong! The shop discovered a tread separation on the inside sidewall! Luckily I was not driving on the highway. after coming here and reading all the other almost identical complaints to me it looks like there IS a trend of bulging/poor ride quality/blowouts and tread separation from these walmart goodyears. luckily I only made a 2 mile round trip from home to a friends and I was able to catch this before I had a blowout.

My daughter noticed that she was not able to keep air in one mastercraft a/s IV tires. As we looked at the tire together she heard air escaping, and when we touched the area of the leak, the leak got louder. I took it to the local farm & fleet (where the tires were purchased & installed as I have been told they are good at keeping up with warranties) to have it checked out. I was told that it has "dry rot", and I would have to buy another brand as the mastercraft a/s IV have been "discontinued", and I have no other recourse. I asked if they or I could file a complaint with the manufacturer, and was told no as the tires have been discontinued and are no longer manufactured. Further, I was told that only 25% of the tread remains. The tires were purchased 9/08/08 & only have approximately, 20,806 miles on them, but the manufacturer rates them at 50,000 miles. The low miles makes sense as we rarely put on more than 7K miles on any of our vehicles. I am concerned that this may be a manufacturing defect in the material of the tire(s). *tr

I know of at minimum 5 people that are experiencing these same issues. I am at a loss when almost weekly we have to take door panel off to get window back on track when it rains you wouldn't want to be anywhere near my car because you would have an earfull. last year in april I also had to replace a head gasket because that blew. Oh and running out of gas IS just nuts with all the stuff we have out there in the world gm should know how to build a gas gauge. not having heat in the winter isn't much fun either. what are you gonna do to make people happy. well lets start with the gas gauge the other stuff IS minor compared to the rest. *tr

We own a 2000 chevy venture that we bought used about 4 years ago. When we bought it, the button for the doors to open automatically didn't work as well as the gas gauge. Since, we have replaced the heads, the water pump, rack and pinion, wheel hub, tie rod end, as well as replacing the head lights every couple months and now having problems with the brake lights.when we had the heads replaced, they flushed the radiator and we are still having problems with the low coolant light coming on and the fluid looking cloudy. They told us that the cloudiness sometimes happens, but still doesn't explain the light coming on saying its low!!! we were also notified that the ABS box IS bad and needs replaced...also, sometimes there IS water that leaks from the weather gauge or the top of the windshield. Also the traction system light comes on and actually shuts the system off when you turn the van on, this maybe due to the bad ABS box but has been doing this longer then the ABS light has been on. There IS also rust along the van below the sliding doors. The locks also sometimes stick when using the keypad or the electrical lock button inside the van. we can't wait to get rid of this van! Just hope we have better luck with our next vehicle. *Tr

Does not have auto starter that some people put on cars to start in cold weather.first started this in early a.m. On weekend while owner still sleeping. Before owner realized it was their vehicle (they live in apt complex) they drove their vehicle through out day without incident. Later when parked it tried again when owner was in apt. Took too auto shop and starter was replaced . Drove throughout day again without incident thinking problem was solved. Later about 10:30 p.m. It tried turning over, repeating at 2:30 a.m. Then every 15-20 minutes until 5:30 a.m. Went back too shop to take another look. Shop IS not sure what problem IS except something somewhere electrical., but if starts itself could cause fire. *Tr

Last winter I left my 2000 chevrolet venture van (with a 3.4 liter V6 engine) idling for about 10-15 minutes while I worked outside it. When I got back inside, the heat gauge was about 3/4 the way to hot, and neither of the (2) electric radiator cooling fans were running. The engine ran cool for…
Last winter I left my 2000 chevrolet venture van (with a 3.4 liter V6 engine) idling for about 10-15 minutes while I worked outside it. When I got back inside, the heat gauge was about 3/4 the way to hot, and neither of the (2) electric radiator cooling fans were running. The engine ran cool for normal unconjested traffic after this. In mid summer the heat gauge again went 3/4 hot while I was in slow moving stop-and-go traffic. To prevent heat damage, I ran the heater full blast in mid 80'S weather; -no fun! I troubleshoot the radiator fans control system and found that the pcm (power-train control module; (computer)) wasn't working properly. I replaced the pcm myself with an after-market, reflashed (reprogrammed with gm up-to-date software) unit, but I couldn't get the pcm to do its 'crankshaft variation relearn procedure' with my equipment, so I took the van to my gm dealership to have it done, and also to have the cooling fans tested. my dealership tested the fans and found they now worked, finished the pcm work, but they also said that it overheated and blew coolant right out of the reservoir; they diagnosed it with blown head gaskets on both front and rear parts. (It doesn't sound blown, have coolant in the oil, or put exhaust in the coolant that I can see.) they quoted $1147.50 labor & $390. Parts, & whatever it cost for a machine shop to correct any head warpage, to correct the problem. They also advised my wife (who brought in the van), that the van should not be driven until the head gasket problem IS fixed. I have talked with several people who told me that most everyone who had this 3.4 liter gm engine has had to have the head gasket replaced. one person said that they thought the government should do something since the problem appears to be so wide spread. I suspect that the pcm failing to turn on the cooling fans was what caused this head gasket failure in my case. do you have other people reporting head gasket problems? *Tr

Subject vehicles are available with an optional power sliding door.the interior handle IS oriented in the vertical position in the door panel and lines up at the elbow level when the occupant IS seated in the 2nd-row outboard position.if the occupant holds the interior handle in the thumb up position during power-assisted opening, the arm/wrist can be push back with force against the 2nd-row bucket seat or captain's chair seat back creating a risk of injury (other seating configurations have ample seat to door clearance to avoid entrapment of the lower arm).among the 103 total reports, there were 102 alleged injuries including arm/wrist, thumb and shoulder injuries.a count of injuries reveals that 76 injuries were a fractured or a broken arm/wrist requiring an immobilizing cast for four-to-six weeks.all injuries involve the right side power sliding door.the left side power sliding door IS on far fewer vehicles, but more importantly, it produces less force.gm notified the agency by letter dated december 21, 2004, that it will recall model year 1997 though early 2005 gm u-van vehicles equipped with a right side power sliding door and with 2nd-row bucket seats or captain chairs (nhtsa recall #04v597).as part of the recall remedy, gm will replace the door handle with a flush mounted handle that will prevent an occupant from grasping the handle with the palm between the handle and door panel (thumb up orientation) and thus eliminate the potential for arm/wrist entrapment.this investigation IS closed.
