Dorman IS recalling 979 steering knuckles, dorman p/nos. 697-902 and 697-903, sold under dorman's "oe solutionstm" brand name, and napa p/nos. 7-8502 and 7-8503 which were sold for replacement use on the various vehicles listed above. a potential material or design defect could result in the steering knuckle breaking in the hub area.
A broken steering knuckle could result in loss of steering control and a possible crash without warning.
Dorman will notify owners and replace the defective steering knuckles free of charge and reimburse the repair facility or owner for labor. the recall began on february 23, 2009. owners may contact dorman's toll-free hotline at 1-800-523-2492 and press 5.
K2 motor IS recalling 1,921 aftermarket headlamps of various models sold for use on the above listed vehicles. these headlamps are missing the amber side reflex reflector which fails to conform with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
Without the amber side reflex reflectors, the lighting visibility may be affected, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
K2 motor will notify owners and offer a full refund. the recall began on decemeber 17, 2008. owners may contact K2 motor at 1-909-839-2992.
On certain vehicles, variations in the manufacturing process or exposure to high ambient temperatures may lead to fracture of the fuel tank inlet check valve (icv).
A fracture may allow fuel vapors to pass through and allow droplets of fuel to accumulate on the side of the fuel tank. fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Dealers will replace the fuel tank. the recall will be mailed in two phases with the first phase beginning on december 4, 2007. the second phase will be mailed on december 13, 2007. owners may contact buick at 1-866-608-8080; chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438; or pontiac at 1-800-620-7668. the vehicle population includes buick rendezvous and pontiac aztek vehicle built in may 2003; chevrolet venture and pontiac montana vehicles built from june through august 2002; and all vehicles registered in nevada, arizona, virgin islands, puerto rico, and hawaii.
Certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, p/nos. Fp10020-11b1, fp10026-11b1, and fp10027-11b1, sold after january 9, 2007, as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles listed above. the universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer.
Fuel may leak, possibly resulting in a fire.
Delphi will notify owners and replace the upr free of charge. the recall began on april 23, 2007. owners can contact delphi at 877-411-8770.
On certain minivans equipped with second-row bucket seats or captain's chairs and a power sliding door on the passenger side of the vehicle, a passenger using the interior handle to open the power sliding door could be injured.
If a passenger uses the interior handle to open the power sliding door and holds onto the handle while it IS being opened by the motor, the passenger's arm may be pushed into the seat back or armrest and a wrist or lower arm injury may result.
Dealers will replace the power sliding door interior handle on the passenger-side. if the vehicle IS equipped with a power or manual sliding door on the driver-side, the interior handle will also be replaced for appearance reasons. note: before the vehicle IS serviced, gm advises owners to not use the interior door handle to open the door. the driver can open and close the door from switches at the driver's position or by using the remote key fob. the driver should tell passengers to use the switch located in front of the door to open or close it. the driver should use the override switch to prevent operation of the power door by children or by others who are not familiar with its use. the owner notification letter mailing will be conducted in phases with the first phase beginning on may 31, 2005. the second phase mailing began on july 18, 2005. the recall began on may 31, 2005. phase 2 began on july 18, 2005. phase 3 (final phase) began on august 24, 2005, to all remaining customers. owners should contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438; pontiac at 1-800-620-7668; or oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537.
Certain passenger, MINI vans, and sport utility vehicles have an air bag inflator on the driver's side that could fracture at a weld during a deployment.
Pieces of the inflator could strike and injure vehicle occupants and the air bag cushion would not inflate fully, reducing the capability of the bag to protect the driver.
Dealers will inspect, and replace, if necessary, the air bag module assembly on the driver's side. owner notification began august 15, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact buick at 1-800-521-7300, cadillac at 1-800-458-8006, chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, GMC at 1-800-462-8782, oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537, or pontiac at 1-800-762-2737.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, a fuel odor was detected inside the cabin of the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of fuel. The contact's neighbor, an independent mechanic, diagnosed that there was fuel leaking between the connection of the fuel line and fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Blown intake manifold gasket. Vehicle did not have an overheating issue, and has been well maintained since I've owned it. Drove across a steep 7 mile hill, temp gauge started moving above normal. I stopped and let it cool down, motor got to about 245 degrees well before any warning lights were able to come on. Started the motor and it sounded different so I popped the hood and the coolant overflow was bubbling. Noticed the windshield started steaming up, and a very rough idle. Shut the motor off and started it again. White smoke coming from the tailpipe. Turn it off again and opened the oil cap and it had the mayo look and smelled of antifreeze. Pulled the dipstick and the oil was brown and separated. Got it hauled home. Did an inspection and antifreeze was all down the block. Took the motor apart and the lower intake manifold gasket was just detroyed. Chevrolet has had nothing but problems out of these 3.4 gen 3 motors. They all need to be recalled and the problem corrected. Doesn't matter if you keep the coolant flushed and oil changed. Head gaskets were in the same shape I changed them too. All together cost me over $1000 between gasket kits, head bolts, intake bolts, coolant, oil, filter, flush, and that was changing the head gasket, lower and upper intake manifold gasket completely by myself. These motors are so hard to work on, I just couldn't afford to have someone do it for me. It's just bad to buy a vehicle and have this problem. Most venture owners have changed head gaskets or intake gaskets more than once. Toyota recalled their 3.0 motors for this problem, why IS gm not made to rectify this continuous problem. The van has alot of other problems as well, body rust, headlights you cannot see with, oil seal leaks, steering knuckle problems, sliding door issues, radio problems, electrical problems, signal lights, ABS problems. Fuel pump problems. It's a lemon
Suddenly my vehicle had a strong gasoline odor when I walked up on it in the morning I smelled it 3 feet away from my vehicle. It happened just like that all of a sudden. I scheduled my inspection with my mechanic and I told him I suddenly was smelling a strong odor of gas. My mechanic called and informed me there was a crack in my gas tank and it IS leaking so that IS why I was smelling gas so badly. We ordered another 2002 chevrolet venture gas tank from a salvage yard. They shipped the gas tank and when my mechanic opened it it was broke in the same exact place. This IS why I thought looking up for possible recall. I found recall 07v349000. Stated the fuel tank inlet check valve can crack and leak. Stated affected chevrolet venture 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. I have 2002. My problem IS it's vin specific according to chevrolet the number that I was given to call about the recall. 18006302438. My vin number was not included. My problem fits the description perfectly but they claim they can't help me. This IS a serious safety problem for anyone. I now have to pay over 1,000.00 for a new gas tank or have no car. I do not have any transportation now. My chevrolet venture IS sitting at my mechanics.
Fuel filler neck cracked where it IS attached to the gas tank. Fuel leaking out of neck.
TL* the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. While the vehicle was parked, there was strong fuel odor emitted in and around the vehicle. Each time the vehicle was parked, a puddle of fuel was seen on the ground. The contact's brother, a certified mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the tank was cracked at the inlet check valve and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no open recall per the vin. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Temp gauge trys go hot had check nothing engene misfire had check 7 times now. replace mass air temp sensore twice throttle position sensors. Plugs and wires twice in one month has wire shortage for ac and we have paid out alot of money from day 2 of owning this was going sell but I would sell this crap to no one.. Now says O2 sensore left wheel sensor and much more codes junk like this dont need to be sold..
I was pulled over do to no rear brake light or turn signal on left side. Got a ticket. Went to junk yard bought replacement only to discover it was also burned out and useless !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been through at least 50 bulbs in the last year alone. I am second owner. Also have another electrical issue as in the switch above in between front seats that control inside lighting. It must stay in the off position or it runs the battery completely down. Also the side door gets stuck in the open position and it takes a lot of strength to close it. *tr
Icv (in line check valve) housing on fuel tank has started cracking and leaking fuel. Chevrolet says this unit IS not affected by recall 07v349000. It appears to be the same as my other venture we had the recall performed on leaking at same spot. This IS a fire hazard and gm should repair this on all venture vans. I have run across hundreds of people in discussion with same issue and not within gm's vin breaks. I think gm needs to look at this again. I have pictures to prove what IS going on. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. Upon refueling the vehicle, fuel started leaking from the fuel tank. The contact mentioned that the failure progressively worsened. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed a small fracture which may have allowed fuel vapors and small droplets of fuel to pass through. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 214,000.
On the way to taking my son to work, I noticed a loud buzzing sound coming from the rear passenger side of my 2002 chevy venture van. Upon checking the dashboard for a warning signal, there weren't any warning light's displayed.i just recently had rear brake work done and I'm not sure if that IS the problem. Also, I have been noticing a loud pitched whistling sound that starts at about 20 mph and stops at about 45 mph. There IS a rattling noise that accompanies the whistling sound when the car IS in acceleration. *tr
I bought this car used and discovered that I couldn't fill the gas tank more than 1/3 of the way or it would leak from a crack in the plastic gas tank where the filler pipe connects to the tank. I looked it up on the internet and discovered it was a common problem; http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2003/chevrolet/venture/fuel+tank I talked to my local chevrolet dealer and he said that there was a recall, but my vin number was not included. Now what? *tr
The vehicle randomly shuts down completely while driving - all electrical systems go off. Afterward, it cranks but does not start, after it's towed, it eventually starts. No error codes show in diagnostics. *js
Was driving approx 45 mph and drivers side seat airbag deployed. there was no impact what so ever. *tr
I purchased a used 2002 chevy venture with only 84,000 and the first thing I did was fill it with gas for the next day of school drop offs and pick ups . I got home parked it and the next day a small puddle of gas was under drivers side sliding door. I looked on line and found a recall so I called the chevy dealer and they said my vin # was not one that was covered. So now we have our new van sitting in our drive way with no money to fix it till next week. I think gm really needs to step up and fix their problem... I fond several people in the same boat. And still after they bought a new tank a week or two later the same thing occurred.. So now what... Who IS keeping the automotive companies accountable.. Does some small child have to be injured or god forbid loose their life... Some one needs to do something.... *tr
Vehicle was showing 'hot coolant temperature' and was taken to the mechanic for repairs. After just months the same problem returned. *tr
I noticed fuel mileage being really off and a very strong gasoline smell and had it checked @ our local repair shop and was told gas tank weld had failed; we were also told we were very lucky that we got it in as soon as we did. Very dangerous! Was also told by mechanic that there had been recalls on this very thing and also even more service bulletins. I contacted gm and was told yes there had been recalls but not our vin number group! Now it's time to do this before someone dies or IS maimed. They told me they were very sorry but glad no one was hurt! I was also told to save all my paper work just in case @ which time I told them I save everything! They were more concerned about why I had taken it to our repair shop rather than one of their dealers; I told them that the only thing I ever got from their dealers were that they could not ever replicate the problem; then our repairman would fix what they couldn't even identify. *tr
The gas gauge stopped working, went from full to empty in about 3 seconds. chevy refused to help. I have carried a notebook in the vehicle since that time, writing down the date, place of purchase, mileage, total cost, cost per gallon, and how many gallons. this IS to make sure I don't run dry, since the idiot going goes off whenever it pleases. (Car was purchased new, from paramus chevrolet in october, 2001). *tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Subject vehicles are available with an optional power sliding door.the interior handle IS oriented in the vertical position in the door panel and lines up at the elbow level when the occupant IS seated in the 2nd-row outboard position.if the occupant holds the interior handle in the thumb up position during power-assisted opening, the arm/wrist can be push back with force against the 2nd-row bucket seat or captain's chair seat back creating a risk of injury (other seating configurations have ample seat to door clearance to avoid entrapment of the lower arm).among the 103 total reports, there were 102 alleged injuries including arm/wrist, thumb and shoulder injuries.a count of injuries reveals that 76 injuries were a fractured or a broken arm/wrist requiring an immobilizing cast for four-to-six weeks.all injuries involve the right side power sliding door.the left side power sliding door IS on far fewer vehicles, but more importantly, it produces less force.gm notified the agency by letter dated december 21, 2004, that it will recall model year 1997 though early 2005 gm u-van vehicles equipped with a right side power sliding door and with 2nd-row bucket seats or captain chairs (nhtsa recall #04v597).as part of the recall remedy, gm will replace the door handle with a flush mounted handle that will prevent an occupant from grasping the handle with the palm between the handle and door panel (thumb up orientation) and thus eliminate the potential for arm/wrist entrapment.this investigation IS closed.
