Dorman IS recalling 979 steering knuckles, dorman p/nos. 697-902 and 697-903, sold under dorman's "oe solutionstm" brand name, and napa p/nos. 7-8502 and 7-8503 which were sold for replacement use on the various vehicles listed above. a potential material or design defect could result in the steering knuckle breaking in the hub area.
A broken steering knuckle could result in loss of steering control and a possible crash without warning.
Dorman will notify owners and replace the defective steering knuckles free of charge and reimburse the repair facility or owner for labor. the recall began on february 23, 2009. owners may contact dorman's toll-free hotline at 1-800-523-2492 and press 5.
K2 motor IS recalling 1,921 aftermarket headlamps of various models sold for use on the above listed vehicles. these headlamps are missing the amber side reflex reflector which fails to conform with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
Without the amber side reflex reflectors, the lighting visibility may be affected, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
K2 motor will notify owners and offer a full refund. the recall began on decemeber 17, 2008. owners may contact K2 motor at 1-909-839-2992.
On certain vehicles, variations in the manufacturing process or exposure to high ambient temperatures may lead to fracture of the fuel tank inlet check valve (icv).
A fracture may allow fuel vapors to pass through and allow droplets of fuel to accumulate on the side of the fuel tank. fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Dealers will replace the fuel tank. the recall will be mailed in two phases with the first phase beginning on december 4, 2007. the second phase will be mailed on december 13, 2007. owners may contact buick at 1-866-608-8080; chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438; or pontiac at 1-800-620-7668. the vehicle population includes buick rendezvous and pontiac aztek vehicle built in may 2003; chevrolet venture and pontiac montana vehicles built from june through august 2002; and all vehicles registered in nevada, arizona, virgin islands, puerto rico, and hawaii.
Certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, p/nos. Fp10020-11b1, fp10026-11b1, and fp10027-11b1, sold after january 9, 2007, as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles listed above. the universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer.
Fuel may leak, possibly resulting in a fire.
Delphi will notify owners and replace the upr free of charge. the recall began on april 23, 2007. owners can contact delphi at 877-411-8770.
On certain minivans equipped with second-row bucket seats or captain's chairs and a power sliding door on the passenger side of the vehicle, a passenger using the interior handle to open the power sliding door could be injured.
If a passenger uses the interior handle to open the power sliding door and holds onto the handle while it IS being opened by the motor, the passenger's arm may be pushed into the seat back or armrest and a wrist or lower arm injury may result.
Dealers will replace the power sliding door interior handle on the passenger-side. if the vehicle IS equipped with a power or manual sliding door on the driver-side, the interior handle will also be replaced for appearance reasons. note: before the vehicle IS serviced, gm advises owners to not use the interior door handle to open the door. the driver can open and close the door from switches at the driver's position or by using the remote key fob. the driver should tell passengers to use the switch located in front of the door to open or close it. the driver should use the override switch to prevent operation of the power door by children or by others who are not familiar with its use. the owner notification letter mailing will be conducted in phases with the first phase beginning on may 31, 2005. the second phase mailing began on july 18, 2005. the recall began on may 31, 2005. phase 2 began on july 18, 2005. phase 3 (final phase) began on august 24, 2005, to all remaining customers. owners should contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438; pontiac at 1-800-620-7668; or oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537.
Certain minivans, passenger and sport utility vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 225, "child restraint anchorage system." the owner's manual does not explain the meaning of the location symbols for the child restraint lower universal anchorage system.
This does not meet the requirements of the standard.
Owners will be provided with a supplement for their owner's manual. this supplement describes and shows the location symbols for the child restraint anchors that are located in the vehicle and on the child restraint or booster cushion. owner notification began august 18, 2003. owners should contact buick at 1-866-608-8080, cadillac at 1-866-982-2339, chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, pontiac at 1-800-620-7668, or oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537.
On certain passenger, sport utility vehicles and MINI vans, some of these vehicles have a passenger air bag that was manufactured without a check valve pin. an air bag without the check valve pin could produce increased pressure at the onset of the air bag deployment and reduced pressure afterward.
This could increase the severity of injury to a person who was not properly restrained and who was close to the passenger air bag at the time of deployment. it could also reduce the ab8ility of the air bag to protect a restrained front seat passenger.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the passenger air bag. owner notification began december 16, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, pontiac at 1-800-762-2737, oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537, or saturn at 1-800-553-6000, prompt #3.
Vehicle description: certain MINI vans built with second row 50/50 split bench seats or captain's chairs, fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 225, "child restraint anchorage systems." the seat latch anchor wire diameter IS greater than 6.1 mm.
If the connector for a latch-type child restraint IS not attached correctly to the anchorage points, the restraint will not properly protect a child in the event of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the latch anchor wires and repair those with an improper diameter. owner notification began april 10, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537, or pontiac at 1-800-762-2737.
Vehicle description: 1997-2001 chevrolet venture, pontiac montana/transport, and oldsmobile silhouette MINI vans equipped with passenger side power sliding doors that were serviced in campaign 01013 (01v-067) from april to august 2001. also 2001 chevrolet venture, pontiac montana, and oldsmobile silhouette MINI vans equipped with passenger side power…
If this happens, the power sliding door can open while the vehicle IS in motion, particularly when the vehicle ascends a hill, makes a turn, or travels over a rough road surface. an unrestrained occupant could fall out of the van and be injured.
Dealers will inspect and, if required, install a new power sliding door unlatch actuator assembly. owner notification began on october 22, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, pontiac at 1-800-762-2737, or oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537.
Vehicle description: minivans equipped with passenger side power sliding doors. the door closes but may not be latched. if this happens, the power sliding door can open while the vehicle IS in motion, particularly when the vehicle ascends a hill, makes a turn, or travels over a rough road surface.
An unrestrained occupant could fall out of the van and be injured.
Dealers will install a new un-latch actuator assembly to the power sliding door. this recall has been continued under safety recall 01v-264. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, pontiac at 1-800-762-2737, or oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537.
Vehicle description: passenger, sport utility vehicles and minivans. the passenger air bag inflator modules were built without the correct amount of generant, which produces the gas that fills the air bag. some were built with a double load of generant and some were built without generant.
In the event of a crash that would trigger a passenger air bag deployment, a double load of generant can cause the inflator module to explode. if the air bag module explodes, metal and plastic debris could cause severe injury to vehicle occupant. a module with no generant would not inflate the air bag, and the occupants could receive more severe injuries.
Dealers will replace the passenger air bag module. telephone calls were made to owners on january 29, 2001. follow up owner mailing began on april 17, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, pontiac at 1-800-762-2737, or saturn at 1-800-553-6000.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles, light duty trucks, sport utility vehicles, and MINI vans equipped with trw seat belt buckle assemblies. the buckle base of these seat belt assemblies were not properly heat treated and therefore do not pass the load bearing requirement of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 209, "seat belt assemblies."
In the event of a vehicle crash, the occupant may not be properly restrained.
Dealers will inspect the vehicle's safety belt buckle assembly date codes and, if necessary, will replace any safety belt buckle assembly.
Symptoms similar to recall 07V349000. Smell of fuel accompanied by liquid on the ground. Inspection by mechanic indicates failure of fuel filler neck and accompanying inlet of the fuel tank itself. Unable to secure fuel filler neck replacement that fits, nor replacement fuel tank.
I have a leaking fuel tank. It IS described perfectly in recall: 07v349000, gm recall # 06230. When I took it to the dealer, they told me because of higher mileage, it IS not covered. I then called gm and they told me the same thing. how can you sell a vehicle with a defective part, put it on recall and then not fix it? I am glad I found it before my vehicle caught on fire!
TL* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, an odor of fuel was present. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank was cracked causing fuel to leak out. The fuel tank was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000.
I was told it had intermittent rear lighting problem (driver side rear lights would go in and out) when purchasing vehicle used in 2012 with160,000 miles, 90% highway. had repaired immediately for safety, legal and state required annual inspections (or so I thought). within 3 months/75 miles later, it started again. Entire wiring harness and light assembly was replaced, to no avail. Before I could take it in again, both rear lights intermittently stopped working. Passenger side wiring harness and light assembly replaced. It wasn't fixed.and before I could get it back in the shop, the front passenger side lights started the same thing. new mechanic assures me, " don't worry, there are many things I can try!" little consolation for the drivers behind me or for me from being pulled over by & ticketed or when I need the va state mandatory "annual inspection" sticker. They are able to get them to work long enough but again, at what cost? meanwhile, the intermittent problem moved to the passenger front lights, when hitting brakes I see that flashers start to work. all of the mechanics are "putting a band-aid on a broken arm". & ii'm paying dearly each and every time. they now want to replace things in the steering wheel but I want chevrolet to correct the problem this time or tell the mechanics what to do. this IS a mini-van that I drive back and forth to the grocery and school, .5 miles - 5 miles a way 3-4 times a week.
The fuel tank leaks at the fuel tank, leak at the fuel tank filler tube attachment point to the tank. There IS a rubber grommet on the tank that the tube attaches to the tank where the leak IS. Defiantly a fire hazard. Leaks when tank IS more than 1/2 full. This tube IS metal and the fuel tank filler tube attaches to with a rubber hose and clamp. The chevrolet dealer says the vin was exclude from nhtsa campaign ID number 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage), although the failures were identical. The dealer stated have to replace the fuel tank which not covered.
TL* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. While driving approximately 50 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers failed to operate properly. After activating the wipers, they became jammed together. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wiper transmission was faulty. The transmission was replaced, but the contact continued to experience the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 15,000.
Fuel leaking in the ground around the drivers side rear tire.
The cooling system overheats alot and ive bought alot of coolant because of this problem and ive gotten stranded a couple of times and its crazy ive did some research and it could be multiple things but for sure its going to cost alot for this I cant lay for these exspensive repairs im still going and paying for school ID just would like some help to get these exspensive repairs fixed because this van IS my ownly transportation.
TL* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. While driving approximately 65 mph, a loud noise was coming from the engine. In addition, the check engine warning light illuminated. And the vehicle failed to change gears. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the oxygen sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.
The driver's seatbelt will only latch into the bracket about half the time. sometimes it takes up to 5 minutes to get it to click in. otherwise it just will not click. I have had to stretch it across to hook it into the passenger's side seatbelt. Luckily for me I didn't have a passenger so I could do this but I am worried that in attaching it into the passenger's side that it will not perform should I need it to. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that fumes were emitted in and around the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the recall nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline) was directly related to the failure the vehicle was exhibiting. However, the vin was not included. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel tank inlet check valve fractured and as a result, the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.
Other part affected IS the jack this style van rusts thru in front of the rear wheel well where the jack IS supposed to be placed to replace the spare tire. there IS no longer any structural support resulting in a dangerous condition where the van can fall off the jack if you attempt to put the spare tire on. as a matter of fact my chevrolet dealer, at about 170,000 miles, crushed the whole area of my car while they put it on a lift to replace my transmission lines. I can never safely put the jack at that location. that IS what alerted me to the problem whereas the rust was there very early in the life of the van! *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that while involved in a crash, the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and minor injuries were sustained. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was not available. updated 10/2/14*cn updated 05/12/2015 *js
We were driving on the freeway and noticed the heat gauge starting to rise very quickly to the red zone. The engine stalled and once the temp came down we proceeded to an auto parts store. There we purchased a thermostat, radiator cap, and 2 gallons of premix dex-cool. We installed the new cap and filled system with the dex-cool. We drove about 7 miles to a lake for a day of fishing. The inaccessibility of the thermostat, I could not change the thermostat that day. After sitting (not running) we started for home (60 miles). We had only gone about 10 miles when it overheated for the first time. We could only go about 10 miles before we'd have to stop and let the van cool down and add more coolant and water. It took 6 hours to get home. over the next couple of days the overheating problem continued. On 28apr2014 we had the van towed to a local (reputable) auto shop. The next day we were informed that the intake manifold was leaking and would have to be repaired before they could pressure test the system to check the other components (radiator, radiator cap, etc.) the cost of just the intake repair was estimated at $1500-$2500. I have been researching the issue online and found that this IS a common issue with these vans because of the dex-cool being a plasticizer and an aluminum corrosive. Also found out that gm has known of this problem but have chose not to fix the problem. I have had recalls on other vehicles (for a less problem) because the manufacturers said ok we have this problem so to keep our customers we'll fix it, but not gm. It wouldn't be so bad if gm even tried to fix this issue. We are middle-class and have a hard time making ends meet and can't afford this kind of expense. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that there was a gasoline odor as he noticed fluid on the ground. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 135,000.
2001 chevrolet venture. consumer writes in regards to a fuel leak in vehicle. *smd the consumer stated upon arriving home, after filling up the gas tank, there was a strong odor of gas. Upon further inspection, he found gas leaking from the bottom of the vehicle on the rear driver's side wheel, where the gas tank was located. After checking the fuel cap, it was determined the leak was actually coming from the gas tank. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the his findings were confirmed. While seeking a replacement gas tank online, the consumer discovered a recall was issued by gm, regarding the issue. However, gm informed the consumer due to the high mileage on the vehicle, the vehicle did not qualify for the recall.
Car will speed up on its own and accelerate. The venture will also over heat after running for 10 min. Or so. This van likes to stall while driving and you must keep your foot on the brake or gas to prevent this from happening while driving. Transmission has been slipping since I got the car. Only owned it less than a year, now it made a loud clanking noise last night and now it will not go in drive only in reverse. You have to shift gears on the steering column only and even then it's debatable if it will run. *tr
My mother purchased the vehicle brand new in 2001, it has been a problem since she brought it home. Turn signals have never worked properly, headlights fill up with water causing them to burn out, interior lights don't work properly. I acquired the vehicle after her passing in 2012 . The van only has 66000 miles on it and I've had to replace the lights 6 times since I've had it. When she had it she took it back to the dealership several times only to have the same problems happen again. I recently ran into someone that was in the same make, model and yr vehicle at a gas station, he asked me if I had any electrical issues and of course I said yes..this van IS a disaster waiting to happen.. Why IS there not a recall on this lemon? *tr
We were traveling north bound going about 60 mph on hwy 99 just north of sacramento. An ambulance cut in front of us and slowed down. The right front of the 2001 chevy venture struck the left rear end of the ambulance. The air bags did not deploy my daughter injured her hand and legs. I injured my sternum, bruised my stomach, and injured my right leg. We do have pictures showing that the air bags did not deploy. *Tr
Heater suddenly stopped functioning on very cold day was initial indication there was a problem. After having extensive diagnostics done and many repairs later temperature gauge still goes into red and no heat coming into cabin when heater turns on. This seems to be a widespread problem as I have done much research, and people seem to be stuck with high repair bills just like me because they made the unfortunate decision to purchase a vehicle that came off the assemble with a flawed design in the cooling system/ head gaskets. *tr
2001 chevrolet venture van est. 185,000 miles. fuel tank leaks at inlet, if tank IS more than 1/2 full. some vehicles were recalled for repairs of this type? vin# [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr
Our 2001 chevy venture minivan's windshield wipers failed to go back down; remaining up, on the sides of the windshield at about 150,000 miles. I am filing this complaint because I see many other complaints with the same or similar issue. We have not replaced the motor as yet. *tr
On 3, june, 2011, the right passenger sliding door on our 2001 chevrolet venture minivan would not latch on the back latch, resulting in the door only being partially, and dangerously latched by only the front latch. Sometimes it won't latch on the front latch either. This IS not a power sliding door; but I've seen several recalls for failed latches on the power sliding doors. We have called, gone to junk yards to no avail, and dealerships say they do not have the parts to repair the latch. This IS a safety concern, as the door could come off during travel, or worse, fly open during motion, placing the middle seat passenger at risk of falling out of a moving vehicle. for safety, door latches are something that should be fail safe in automobiles. one dealership said it would cost over $220.00 to repair, if they could get the parts. if??? The car only has 152K miles. In light of the recalls for the power sliding door latches failing, I would think gm would honor the failure of the door latches on the manual sliding doors. this just happened out of the blue, with no problems prior to the failure. It just quit latching. Thank you. *tr
I had a 2001 chevy venture minivan. It caught fire around 2:00am on march 31 2011 what can I do. Talk to chevy with no answer back need help!!!! *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. The vehicle was parked and shut off for a long period of time when it ignited into flames. The contact stated that the fire began where the fuel filler neck was located. A police report was filed and the fire department appeared to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was destroyed but was not investigated for the failure. The failure and current mileage was 160,000. updated 5/2/11 *cn updated 05/11/11
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Subject vehicles are available with an optional power sliding door.the interior handle IS oriented in the vertical position in the door panel and lines up at the elbow level when the occupant IS seated in the 2nd-row outboard position.if the occupant holds the interior handle in the thumb up position during power-assisted opening, the arm/wrist can be push back with force against the 2nd-row bucket seat or captain's chair seat back creating a risk of injury (other seating configurations have ample seat to door clearance to avoid entrapment of the lower arm).among the 103 total reports, there were 102 alleged injuries including arm/wrist, thumb and shoulder injuries.a count of injuries reveals that 76 injuries were a fractured or a broken arm/wrist requiring an immobilizing cast for four-to-six weeks.all injuries involve the right side power sliding door.the left side power sliding door IS on far fewer vehicles, but more importantly, it produces less force.gm notified the agency by letter dated december 21, 2004, that it will recall model year 1997 though early 2005 gm u-van vehicles equipped with a right side power sliding door and with 2nd-row bucket seats or captain chairs (nhtsa recall #04v597).as part of the recall remedy, gm will replace the door handle with a flush mounted handle that will prevent an occupant from grasping the handle with the palm between the handle and door panel (thumb up orientation) and thus eliminate the potential for arm/wrist entrapment.this investigation IS closed.
