Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. the lower control arm attaching brackets can crack due to fatigue and separate from the engine cradle.
If this occurs, the transmission half-shaft could pull out of the transaxle and result in loss of power.
Dealers will reinforce the engine cradle at the point where the lower control arm attaches to it.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles built with 3.5L engines. the fuel injection delivery system can leak fuel from some of the sealing o-rings or from hair line cracks in the thermoset fuel injection rail.
Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire.
Dealers will replace the fuel rail o-rings and reinforce the outlet (passenger) side fuel rail. vehicles showing fuel leakage on the outlet fuel rail must have the outlet rail replaced which includes changing the upper and lower injector o-rings. however, if a vehicle IS leaking fuel from the o-rings or from a cracked fuel line, the vehicle should be taken into a dealer to have this repaired as soon as possible.
The ABS hydraulic control unit can experience excessive brake actuator piston seal wear causing pump-motor deterioration.
If this condition occurs, the ABS function could be lost and reduced power assist would be experienced during vehicle braking increasing the potential for a vehicle accident.
Dealers will test the vehicle's anti-lock brake system and repair the vehicles if necessary. Also the warranty on all ABS components will be extended to 10 years or 100,000 miles (except for the brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor assembly which will have a lifetime coverage). Owners will also be reimbursed for previous ABS component repair costs.
Frequent issues with ABS seizing. Was in shop most of summer 2015. Brakes need repairs again, and original shop IS refusing to address or repair.r 320,000 of this model had already been recalled !!! filed with nys attorney general case 2015-1251639
TL* the contact owns a 1993 chrysler new yorker. The contact stated that the check engine and ABS warning lights randomly flashed and remained illuminated for years. The contact also stated that the brake pedal was difficult to depress and he had to apply force each time the failure happened. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to three different dealers who provided various diagnostics and repairs, which did not prevent the failure. The check engine and ABS warning lights continued to illuminate and the brake pedal was still hard to depress. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no permanent remedy for the condition. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
TL* the contact owns a 1993 chrysler new yorker. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle failed to respond to deceleration attempts. The contact also stated that he had to pump the brake pedal until the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but they could not determine the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000. updated 8/27/15*cn *tr
The ABS pump went out on the vehicle on august 30, 2013. it has been at the dealer since september 4, 2013. I have information stating that the pump IS covered under a lifetime warranty and chrysler corporation has given me the run around on it saying that it does not mean lifetime since it failed again after the original recall repair. I am sorry but I thought lifetime meant lifetime according to the documents that I have and read. they refuse to provide me with an alternate car to drive so I can get to work stating that IS not covered either. they are the poorest excuse of a business that I have ever dealt with and tell you something different with each customer service representative you speak to. they cannot even tell the same lies twice. I was first informed that they couldn't get the parts, then told they were on back order and now I am told they do not have an eta for the parts. I will not advise anyone to purchase any of their products since they do not honor warranties or stand behind their products. *js
TL* the contact owns a 1993 chrysler new yorker. The contact stated that while in parked the trunk erroneously opened and failed to close. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
TL* the contact owns a 1993 chrysler new yorker. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact approached a traffic signal and when the brake pedal was engaged, there was a delayed response. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the failure was contributed to the ABS. The vehicle was not repaired. In 2008, the vehicle was repaired under a recall associated with nhtsa campaign ID number 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 1993 chrysler new yorker. While driving 30 mph approaching a stop, the contact applied the brakes but the brake pedal extended to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact of recall 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock) and advised her to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who refused to perform the recall repair. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the recall had a lifetime warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000 and the current mileage was 66,763.
Tl*the contact owns a 1993 chrysler new yorker. the contact stated that the brakes on her vehicle suddenly felt as if more pressure needed to be applied when the pedal was depressed. the brakes pulsate when braking on slick surfaces. the ABS activates on dry pavement and slows the vehicle down; therefore, more pressure has to be applied to the brake pedal. a mechanic stated that the ABS pump was not activating properly. the dealer could not duplicate the failure. nhtsa campaign ID number 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock) was referenced. the current mileage was 104,500 and failure mileage was 99,817.
I own a mint condition 1993 chrysler new yorker with 68,000 miles on it. Last week the engine started leaking a large amount of gasoline from fuel rail onto the top of block and engine compartment. I saw where a recall campaign was issued to correct this safety condition so I contacted the local chrysler dealer to look at the vehicle. He advised me that my vehicle was not part of the recall and will not be repaired under same. How can that be?? It clearly states ""1993 chrysler new yorker"". Now he advises me that the cost to repair a leaking fuel rail/o-ring will be $536.00. This IS clearly wrong. I need someone to investigate this defect. *nm

I had to replace the transmission on this chrysler -- people stop me in malls, supermarkets and ask me if I've had trouble with the transmission as they have -- all the way back to 1990 everyone I've spoken to that has had a chrysler van, new yorker, dynasty, etc. Has had major transmissions problems and/or has had to replace the transmission. in speaking with my local aamco transmission reps and continental transmission rep (a buffalo store) -- chrysler cars are their number 1 repair. I had occasion to speak with the vp of customer service for aamco at the executive offices in pa -- he also reiterated that chrysler IS their number 1 repair. this should be looked in to. with all of the chrysler repairs I've heard of just in the buffalo area alone, nationally their has to be thousands of consumers who have incurred a major expense. please please investigate this. when I purchased this car from an elderly man in 7/2000 it only had 19,025 miles on the car and it was in showroom condition. around 21,000 miles the car started to have hesitation problems and I didn't know it was the transmission. one local buffalo transmission shop indicated that the computers operating the transmissions were bad and they've had to sell many of them. thank you and I really appreciate an investigation.*ak

The fuel rail IS a non wear item and a life safety issue that should be an extended warranty item. there IS a similar recall on related components but dealer said this IS not covered by that recall. this type of failure can lead to engine fire at startup or while running. manufacturer shuould be held responsible for repair costs.
Recall 98 v 184 000/fuel leakage: fuel injection system IS leaking fuel from sealing o-rings. dealer was notified, and informed consumer that this vehicle was not covered under recall due to vin. Feel free to provide any further details on this matter.*ak
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On september 5, 2004, mr. Robert galenty of iselin, nj, petitioned the agency to conduct defect investigations of certain model year (my) 1993-1997 vehicles produced by daimlerchrysler corporation.his petition identified three issues of concern: 1) fuel leaking from the fuel injector rails; 2) brake fluid contamination resulting in brake failure; and 3) susceptibility of the vehicle frame to damage while the vehicle IS being towed.mr. Galanty alleged that his 1996 dodge intrepid had each of these three problems.concerning fuel rail leakage, daimlerchrysler commenced a recall (98v-184) of approximately 722,600 vehicles to address engine fuel rail leaks that could lead to a fire, including those vehicles cited in the petition and the petitioner's 1996 dodge intrepid.on october 7, 1998, nhtsa opened a recall query investigation (rq98-018) to evaluate the adequacy of the recall remedy.that investigation was closed on july 8, 2002 without requiring further action by daimlerchrysler.very recently, on june 9, 2004, nhtsa denied a petition (rp04-001) to reopen rq98-018 after finding that there was no new information that would indicate any basis for reopening it.this IS still the current position of nhtsa on this issue.concerning brake fluid contamination and frame alignment, a review of nhtsa's database shows no other complaints on either one of these issues on the vehicles cited in the petition.
Mr. Larry a. Sackey submitted a petition to the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) by letter dated april 18, 2003, requesting that nhtsafurther investigate the defective collapsible steering shaft system on 1987-1995 vehicles manufactured by the daimlerchrysler corporation.in part because of 49 cfr ? 30120(G), nhtsa has decided to limit the scope of the petition vehicles to 1993-1995 models, excluding the 1993 jeep grand cherokee and 1994-1995 dodge RAM series trucks that were recalled (93v210 & 96v230) for steering column failure.if the analysis of these vehicles had identified a potential problem, the scope could have been expanded in an investigation.a review of odi's data base shows no recent complaints and a lack of a complaint trend concerning the subject issue on the subject vehicles as a whole or by individual models.therefore, the petition IS denied.for details, see federal register notice volume 68, no. 130, july 8, 2003.
Nitrile rubber seals used in the fuel rail assemblies of the subject vehicles at the supply, return, and crossover tube fittings, and at the pressure regulator fail, resulting in fuel leakage in the engine compartment.also, the outlet (right) fuel rail may leak from cracks at certain mold gates in the thermoset rail material.chrysler will recall the subject vehicles and stated that it intends to replace the o-rings with fluorocarbon o-ring having greater heat resistance capability and attach reinforcements to the rail in the areas where the cracking concern has been known to occur most frequently.rails that are already cracked will be replaced by new, reinforced rails.
A safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if waarranted by the circumstances.an engineering analysis clossing report IS included in the public file.
