If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. The recall began on November 15, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and Saturn customer service at 1-800-553-6000. GM's number for this recall is 15240.

It IS possible for the heated washer module to ignite and a fire may occur.
Remedy

On certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm), which controls the function of front air bags, may not operate properly. as a result, the front air bags may fail to deploy in a frontal crash. also, the air bag warning lamp on the instrument panel may fail to provide warning that the system IS inoperative.

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power with the battery saver mode activated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic on two occasions, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the alternator and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired on both occasions; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the service air bag and transmission warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the battery. The vehicle had not yet been taken back to the mechanic or a local dealer for further diagnostic test or repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty had expired. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.

The contact stated she was able to enter the store and extinguish the small fire located on the front passenger’s side on the instrument cluster with a gallon of water. The fire department extinguished the larger fire located by the AC wiring assembly. The fire department also stated that the fire was caused by an electrical failure and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact stated she burned multiple fingers on her right hand and the fire department assisted with her burns. A fire report was not filed. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

AAA showed up said "oh, we see this in the acadia all the time" plugged something in under the dash, the check engine light went off and he said "there you go, now it'll work fine, just dont give it hard gas when getting up to speed" turns out the code was a tranny code that when he cleared it the tranny would then work. Its bad enough i have to deal with this leaking A/C unit, 3 cans a week, and that smell is terrible, i cant even get the car up to speed when entering the freeway traffic. please make gmc fix these issues, i know im not the only one with both issues. Thank you.

My 2007 GMC acadia spontaneously caught fire while driving. No warning lights and or notifications came on. My car began to fill with smoke from the floorboard and smoke came from the hood. The front end of the car was fully engulfed in a matter of minutes, total loss.

GMC please take accountability for the sunroof leak issue! Years of data, almost 100 complaints, someone should already know about this and have a solution! My car has serious leaking issues from the sunroof above the driver, electrical to cabin doesn't always work except dash lights, and headlights/turn signals work sporadically. The locks work when they're in the mood. Also means ac/heat works sometimes..i live up north and it's 24 today. My windshield wiper fluid remains empty because it randomly turns on and drains out: which also means replacing my wipers IS a bad idea because they randomly turn on for at most an hour and dry wiping the window...and destroying the wiper blades. All wheel drive won't work, despite mechanic seeing no issues. I've taken down the mounts and tried to flush the draining tubes myself..and they're clear with no leaks when I tested the tubes. I don't know what to do. I wish I could afford to fix this, because we need this vehicle; everyday I'm scared to drive it! We won't drive at night for the risk of the headlights shutting off, and always fingers crossed my turn signals will function today. I have kids! My families not rich, we can't afford another vehicle or the costly repair, being that I'm a single mom barely buying bread and paying rent as it IS since my hours got cut from covid. I only wanted a safe vehicle, I didn't realize I had to be specific and ask for one with headlights and electronics working appropriately, too. I'll be sure to next time I buy a car...whenever that lucky day occurs. Please pray for us.

Cleaned the ground wires and the motor IS no longer making the loud noise or jerking but not my seat heaters no longer work and now the battery light flashes but just 2 months ago I replaced the battery and alternator! 2007 GMC acadia, service traction control and stabilitrack keeps popping up. It loses the power steering off and on if you drive it in the rain at any speed. Windows can not be controlled by drivers master buttons. Vehicle has 173000 miles on it. Purchased used from buckeye nissan. Noticed issues right away but their mechanic said there IS nothing coming up when they hook up the diagnostics. No warranty when purchased used, this IS my first vehicle purchase. I was able to drive the vehicle for a year then got the service traction control and stabilitrack reading and the vehicle would not go over 5 mph. Still paying payments on the vehicle, I could not afford to take it to a mechanic so I purchased a cheap car from a friend and the acadia sat in my drive way for 2 years. After I paid it off I started to look into repairing it. I put a new battery in it after it sat for so long and it started right up and drove like there was never an issue. I have since replaced the torque converter. Still get engine light and traction control turns off and service stabilitrack reading but has not had it slow down to 5 mph again. Now if I drive in the rain the power steering cuts in and out and IS extremely dangerous as it happens at any speed. I have seen several reviews on this vehicle that say the same as mine. The worst part IS that gm IS aware of these issues but will not assist in repair if the vehicle has over a certain amount of miles on it.

When it rains either heavily or for long periods in chicago my GMC tends to flood in the passenger floor and by the tv and 3RD row lights. I have had this issue since we bought the vehicle in 2013. I have had this car for 6 years and I have taken in to a dealership once and they quoted me close to $500 to do a test and let water rain on the car and see if it IS a manufacture or owner faulty issue. I did not jump on top of my car and create a problem so that my car gets flooded or to cause this that I have to always place a towel and leave my windows open after so that it does not fog the entire car. I have 4 children and droplets have fallen on my 7 month old baby while I'm driving. No one can sit in the passenger side. I have had my car detailed in the past so the molding smell doesn't cause my kids to want to throw up. airbags say service airbags when they hasn't opened and hasn't gotten into an accident in that car. It frighten me that I'm driving a unsafe car with 4 children. I cannot make a repair of that amount nor should I be responsible to have that tested out.

On the first day, the vehicle had transmission failure and the transmission overheating indicator appeared. The vehicle started to slow down and sputter while driving. In addition, the vehicle had difficulty accelerating from a stop. While driving 75 mph, the transmission overheating indicator illuminated again. The contact had to pull over and allow the vehicle to idle for a while. The vehicle was taken to the car store of burley (1001 e main st, burley, ID 83318, (208) 677-3800) and they stated that the contact overfilled the transmission fluid. The dealer drained and refilled the fluid. The contact also stated that the instrument cluster stopped working occasionally and was not repaired. The dealer test drove the vehicle and found no failure. In addition, the windshield wipers never worked and the driver and passenger side struts were faulty. Furthermore, the traction control was also malfunctioning. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,700. *bf *as

Thankfully I wasn't hurt but was scary bc other people were behind me and my car slowed down so fast! After further review this seems to be a huge issue with this vehicle, and to me seems like a huge safety hazard. I still have to have my car looked at but now the engine light IS no longer on. I feel that this vehicle IS very unsafe to drive when you could be driving down the freeway and lose power... Then when taken to the shop the car seems to be in good working order only until it does it again. This would be one thing if this was a one person case but this IS a many person case! Thank you

As of July 16, 2014, out of a population of 248,453 subject vehicles, NHTSA received 473 consumer complaints of inoperative head lamp. Many of these complaints indicated that the head lamp harness suffered damage from overheating. After reviewing the complaints, ODI found: -69% (328) alleged that a single head lamp…
As of July 16, 2014, out of a population of 248,453 subject vehicles, NHTSA received 473 consumer complaints of inoperative head lamp. Many of these complaints indicated that the head lamp harness suffered damage from overheating. After reviewing the complaints, ODI found: -69% (328) alleged that a single head lamp was inoperative. -18% (86) alleged that both head lamps were inoperative but not at the same time. -9% (41) alleged that both head lamps were inoperative but the complaints did not indicate whether the failures had occurred at the same time. -4% (17) alleged that both head lamps were inoperative at the same time. -One additional complaint cited wire harness damage to both sides but did not specify an outage -No crashes or loss of vehicle control were reported. -Any alleged thermal damages were limited to melting of the head lamp harness and the head lamp housing. -A head lamp would intermittently fail to come on or flickers before becoming completely inoperative. For the seventeen complaints that alleged simultaneous failure of both head lamps while attempting to turn them on or while driving, the head lamp failures likely had occurred one at a time. The subject vehicle's head lamps are connected in a parallel circuit and each circuit is fused. Therefore, failure of one head lamp or its harness should not affect the other head lamp operation. Over the last 25 years, ODI has opened numerous defect investigations of the loss of headlamp illumination.Investigations that resulted in safety recalls involved simultaneous loss of illumination from both headlamps. NHTSA does not consider the loss of a single headlamp as presenting an unreasonable safety risk-such failures are readily detectable by the driver while allowing the vehicle to retain forward visibility and conspicuity from the remaining headlamp.There is typically enough time between the failure of the first headlamp and the second during which the vehicle operator can obtain the needed repairs. Based on the information currently available, NHTSA does not believe that the headlamp condition as alleged by the petitioner indicates the likelihood of a safety-related defect that would warrant a formal investigation.Therefore, in view of the need to allocate and prioritize NHTSA's limited resources to best accomplish the agency's safety mission, the petition is denied.Further specifics can be found in the Federal Register Notice ODI complaint ID numbers are referenced on the next page.

(Gm) notified nhtsa that it will conduct a safety recall (nhtsa recall number 08v-441) to address a safety relateddefect that can result in engine compartment fire in approximately 850,000 vehicles equipped with a heated windshield washer fluid option.the subject vehicles of this investigation comprise over three-quarters of the recall population. According to gm, a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the windshield washer fluid heater module may overheat the control-circuit ground wire. This may cause other electrical features to malfunction, create an odor or cause smoke and in rare cases it may cause a fire.as a remedy, gm dealers will install a wire harness with an in-line fuse.
