The problem started over five weeks ago. The car would not start once I put it in park. I've had the park neutral sensor switched changed and every time it happens which IS after the forth or fifth time I put it in park. I've had the called towed over 10 times and my insurance has been canceled because of it. the dealership just keep tightening the gear shift but as I said when I drive it, it loosen up and the same thing happens. I think it doesn't start because the security systems kicks in when I try to put the car in gear. *tr

I have had to replace the heater core 5 times. The first time was 1 month after I purchased the jimmy used at reedmans auto world in pa. 2 months after that it was replaced again 6 months later and every winter since. I have heard there was a ionic problem with the jimmys that send and electrical current the motor, causing the heater cores to just eat away causing them to be replace. I have also had the upper and lower ball joints replace since I have had the jimmy( they were also replaced by the original owner. I have had to replace the engine mounts and my readitor since the motor mounts broke and sent the engine thru my radiator. All problems were fixed mostly at the dealer. However. The heater core has now blown again I have no heat or air. If I turn them one the coolant gushes out of the car. I no longer have a extra warranty(expired 8/06) and cannot get it fixed.. nothing seems to correct the heater core problem. 8AK

Oil leak IS found on all GMC envoys, cost for replace in seals, $300. Also bushings on doors go bad causing doors to fail to close. Cost to replace bushings $125 plus labor. Which can be a safety problem. I have 30,000 miles with oil leak and both door bushings gone bad on the driver and passenger door. Time of problem IS when dealership notified me of the problem.*ak

The low beam headlamps are xenon bulbs, and cost over $700 each to replace. I believe headlamps are a safety issue and should be reasonably priced. Mercedes are over $1200 each, and BMW over $800. I'm an auto mechanic and see quite a few failures, and each time the customer denies the work and drives on 1 headlamp, or leaves the high beams on. I feel there should be an alternative replacement, or price restructuring on the dealers part.*ak

- 10114443This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an inaccurate fuel gauge. Technician should drive the vehicle to duplicate the concern. The fuel gauge will have a tendency to falsely indicate a lower fuel level than what is actually present. The fuel gauge will take a few minutes to show the correct fuel level. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission no buffering takes place when the transmission is in park or neutral. This is a normal characteristic and no repairs are necessary. On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission the fuel gauge is buffered in all gears and neutral. There is a timer which starts to count up when the clutch is depressed. When this timer reaches its calibrated value the buffering stops. This is a normal characteristic and no repairs are necessary.

- 10112600This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician with the axel setup information from American Axle Manufacturing. Technician should be advised that the maximum pinion shim to be used or stacked behind the pinion is 0.050?, and the minimum pinion shim is 0.020? for an 8.6 axle. The range for available pinion depth shims for the 10.5? axle is 0.006? to 0.024?. When setting the backlash it should be set between 0.003? to 0.005? on a new ring and pinion for any American Axle Manufacturing application. The ring and pinion can be reused or adjusted if the mileage is less than 500 miles, if not used for towing. Technician should be advised that a ?roller coaster? or ?hourglass? pattern on the bearings may be normal up to 10,000 miles and possibly longer. With a mis-machined housing you may get a heel pattern on both sides of the gear teeth at build up can generally be corrected with backlash adjustments. When setting up an 8.6? axle with a 5 cut gear set is to use a 0.035? pinion shim and set backlash to 0.004?. When using the newer 2 cut gear set also use a 0.035? pinion shim and still set backlash to 0.004?. To set the gear pattern use backlash to adjust the pattern heel to toe. Use the pinion shim to adjust the height of the pattern. The proper drive pinion bearing pre-load is from 15 - 30 inch pounds with new bearings. The total torque to turn after the differential case is installed should increase 5 - 10 inch pounds at the pinion. A new pinion nut must be used whenever the old one is removed. The axle shaft end play specification is 0.012? per side and the radial specification is 0.002? - 0.003?. Technician should be advised that synthetic lube can be used in all new American Axle Manufacturing axle assemblies. The new pinion seal for the 8.6? axle assembly is a two piece design.
