  The strut housing may crack and pull away from the inner hood ledge assembly. this may lead to grinding noises, increased steering effort, and possibly the steering column to break, resulting in the loss of steering control, which could result in a crash.

  Remedy

  Nissan will inspect the strut housing and repair the vehicles as necessary, free of charge. an interim notification letter was sent out in may 2011. the second notice was mailed on july 25, 2011. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  This may result in surface rust but not perforation of the tube. however, in those areas of the country which use heavy concentrations of road salt in the winter, if a mixture of snow/water and salt makes contact with the bare metal, corrosion may occur to a degree which results in perforation of the tube. in this case fuel leakage may occur when filling the tank. fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

  Remedy

  Dealers will replace the fuel filler tube assembly with a new one with an improved coating process. the recall began on november 26, 2007. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. these vehicles may have an ignition lock assembly with improperly seated key cylinder cap connector pins. vibration can cause the connecting pins to loosen and/or fall out allowing the key cylinder cap to disengage from the key cylinder.

  Risk

  If this occurs, the steering wheel lock rod can move, which could lock the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy

  Dealers will inspect the ignition lock assembly and assemblies with loose or missing end cap connector pins will be replaced. a ring clip will be installed on all others to prevent loosening of the pins.

The dealerships will not honor a recall that is no longer valid or closed. This is a potential life safety issue.

  My 2000 infiniti QX4 had a visual inspection done at the infiniti of bellevue wa on aug 4, 2008 and determined that there was enough coating to prevent corrosion from occurring due to a recall. the vehicle IS now leaking fuel during fill ups and when it IS topped off. a visual IS not an acceptable practice of measuring thickness of a conversion coating. the dealership verified the issue on october 27 2015 and the infiniti corp will not honor the recall because it does not want to open the recall. this IS an extremely dangerous issue when fueling the car it IS spilling on to the ground at the gas station and could ignite. there IS numerous complaints about this fuel filler and a lack of product to fix it. due to this inadequate inspection the safety of the public has not been achieved, the recall should be reopened. recall number: 07v435000 recall date: 09/18/2007 component: fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap problem summary: on certain vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, kentucky, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, tennessee, vermont, virginia, west virginia , wisconsin and the district of columbia, during the coating process of the fuel filler tube assembly, an insufficient amount of coating may have been applied at the lower mounting bracket. Based on my mechanics advise, I contacted infiniti. I explained them that this vehicle only has 136,900 miles and should not have rusted like this. I truly believe that infiniti messed up the metallurgy or used cheap steel to manufacture this car. Infiniti recited the several recalls like strut tower and filler tube rust and said there IS nothing they can do. I like these vehicles to be looked at again for the severe rust issues that makes these vehicles unsafe and can cause accidents.

  Driving the vehicle at highway speeds when severe steering wheel vibration began. checked front suspension and discovered that the right side (passenger side) frame was completely rotted away at the connection point of the lower control arm. this resulted in the separation of the frame/control arm from its normal position and the right wheel was no longer stable or held in proper geometry. This created a very hazardous safety related issue without any warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection as I was aware of the strut tower defect on the left side of the vehicle. the dealer informed me that my strut tower was not corroded and could be repaired although the failure to the frame on the opposite side of the vehicle was not part of the recall. infinity was contacted and evaluated 3 photos sent by the dealer. they informed me that this was not a defect and that I live in the salt belt. im no rocket scientist but that's why the strut tower recall was issued in the salt belt states, (corrosion). previous recall for corrosion of the fuel fill tube. I believe a pattern IS emerging. my research revealed that other vehicles of this type are exhibiting the same failure and have been met with deaf ears at infinity motor division. this IS a serious safety issue and should be investigated. the left side frame was in normal condition and exposed to the same salt and elements as the right side. the only difference between sides IS the air conditioning drain IS directly over the failure site allowing water to constantly contact the frame when the air conditioning IS used. *tr

No other rust on vehicle, only those areas of front fenders, which happen to be right next to defective wheels well / strut housing area, that was the reason for the most recent recall! the rust / corrosion, IS on the identical location on each fender! I am no expert, but based on the extreme amount of bubbling of the paint it IS obvious the corrosion started on the underside of both fenders and worked its way out to the exterior. *tt

• 10160176EXTERIOR CLEANING INFORMATION SERVICE INFORMATION When cleaning the exterior of an Infiniti vehicle, damage may occur when using a cleaner with too high of an alkaline concentration. - Always refer to the Appearance and care section of the related owner?s manual. - Not all cleaners are created equal. - Many cleaners come in concentrated form. - Alkaline cleaners (cleaners with a high pH value) can cause spots on paint and trim when not used as directed. - Some commercial car washes use cleaners with a high pH value. - When using cleaners that meet the conditions defined in the Appearance and care section, be sure to carefully follow the cleaner?s directions. - When finished cleaning/washing, rinse thoroughly with clean water. We will also be reassigning VINs to retailers based on information changes. We didn?t reassign any VINs in Q2 to avoid any mid-quarter objective impact. If VINs were repaired out of network, the retailer/region with the original assignment received credit for the repair. This is an extremely serious safety issue and INFINITI is taking significant and unprecedented steps to increase client recall participation but it needs retailer help to achieve its remedy goals. A separate communication will be released later this month informing regional personnel of the requirements for bonus payout in Q3 and Q2 results. The Q3 objective is based on the average number of repairs in Q2 multiplied by the number of service days in Q3 (Mon-Sat minus any holidays). Retailer engagement is critical with this effort. It is a company-wide responsibility to make it a priority to replace these dangerous airbag inflators in affected vehicles. Further, increasing recall participation represents significant gross profit opportunity for our retailers.

We made our best effort to reassign vehicles to retailers based on the most recent owner information we received. The complexity of filtering out brokers (banks, salvage yards, and insurance companies) and reassigning VINs based on updated owner information affected over 123K records between INFINITI and Nissan, so we are unable to summarize the changes at a regional or retailer level. We suggest the retailers download their lists and have their outbound call centers compare information if necessary. If you have questions, please let us know. Additionally, we will have some enhancements coming in DBS effective November 17, 2018: Owner Data Updates (NNA side): 1. VIN, Campaign Code, and Source are the unique fields 2. Compare all fields except Remove Flag and Comments to see if there is a difference. a. If there is same VIN, Camp ID, and Source and all other fields are also the same then the record will be updated without changing Remove Flag and Comment field b. If there is same VIN, Camp ID, and Source and any other field is different, then the record will be inserted, in this case Remove Flag and Comment field will be blank as this is new record. The remove flag is being removed so the retailer will understand the information they previously flagged for removal has been updated and should be tried again before reapplying the removal flag. c. The retailer benefit of A & B above is duplicate records for the same VIN, Camp ID, and information source with the same customer contact information will no longer display in DBS on the Retailed Vehicle Open Campaign Report.
