Risk
If the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began May 4, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 20TB02 and 20TA02 for Toyota vehicles and 20LB01 and 20LA01 for Lexus vehicles.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2013 Lexus GS 350 vehicles manufactured June 8, 2012, through December 26, 2012. In the affected vehicles, the switch that senses the amount of pressure that the driver is applying to the brake pedal may fail.
Risk and remedy
Risk
If the switch fails, the vehicle may begin braking without the driver's input, and without illuminating the brake lights, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal support assembly which includes the brake pedal load sensing switch, free of charge. Toyota sent owners an interim notification letter in late June 2014 to advise owners of the recall. Owners received a second letter after the remedy parts were available in mid-July. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

If this occurs, the driver may not realize that the steering wheel IS off-centered when pulling from a parked position, the vehicle could maneuver in an unexpected direction, resulting in a crash.

Toyota will notify owners, and lexus dealers will update the vgrs system free of charge. the safety recall began on june 7, 2012. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

Upon closing, the moonroof glass self exploded as I was driving 40-45mph. The glass was everywhere. I had to immediately pull over and asses why and what had happened. Nothing hit it, nothing fell on it, all I did was open and close it and it exploded. After further research online, I realized I wasn't the only one that this has happened to. I decided to submit my complaint as this IS a very scary and dangerous issue.

My sunroof exploded while I was driving down a residential street. I was driving at a speed of 30mph. I was the only car on the street when I heard a loud pop; it sounded like a shotgun. Afterwards, I heard a cackling sound coming from the top of my car. As a made a complete stop at a red light, I moved my visor to my sunroof back and all I saw was shattered glass. I immediately closed the visor to my sunroof. It was the most frightening experience of my life. my sunroof exploded and now it's shattered to pieces. I made it home, but I cannot drive my car.

In addition, the steering wheel veered to the left, and the suspension was unstable. While operating the steering wheel, the vehicle hesitated and suddenly braked without warning. The dealer (lexus santa monica, 1501 santa monica blvd, santa monica, ca 90404, (424) 231-6601) stated that the injector seals needed to be inspected; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer had not issued a recall for the fuel system. A tsb was issued on january 16, 2018 (l-tt-0237-18), which affected 150 products, 1 brake recall, 1 steering recall, 5 steering tsbs, and 1 tsb for the suspension. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

As the car was pulling out of the driving spot and making its way, severe black ice was preventing control. The car seemed to have activated some anti-skidding mechanism. The car was stopped then. From a resting, zero speed position, the car slid on black ice about a foot or less and was stopped by a side impact between the right wheel and the curb. The car was then driven back a few feet to its parking spot and parked because of weather conditions. Upon clearing and driving again, something wrong seemed to have happened to the steering. The car was driven slowly and carefully to the dealer who determined that there was damage to the tie rods (bending) and the steering column, damage in excess of $5,200. This IS completely unjustified by the event and points to a dangerous flaw in the car - either design or material. An inspector pulled the crash data from the car but lexus IS not available to explain it to us, indicating it may take 30 days for their analysis. In the meantime, the lexus dealer needs his loaner car back. Most importantly, this car endangers lives and the model should be immediately pulled out of circulation. Lexus IS not being appropriately responsive. *tr

On july 14, 2014, I was driving at 70 miles per hour in the middle lane of a busy interstate when the engine of our lexus GS 350 unexpectedly shut down. Despite heavy traffic, I was able to pull over, without incident, into the median emergency lane where the car came to a halt. I called the dealership and was advised by the service department that it would have it towed to them. I was also informed that no loaner vehicle was available. Because I was en route to pick up family arriving soon at the airport, I restarted the car and waited several minutes to ensure the engine kept running. I was able to proceed, pick up family, and return. The following day, the dealership picked up the car for evaluation. the cause of the engine shut down has not been determined at this time. *tr

My foot was on the accelerator at the time and not on the brake . the brake light lite up on the dash board and the I press the accelerator but the car would not move . when I put my foot on the brake paddle , the car would go until it hit about 10 miles per hour then locked up again . I had it towed to the lexus service center around 10 pm . The service center was closed but the brake unlocked by itself . I drove home and drive to the lexus dealer next day . Lexus service drove the car over 100 miles and can not find the problem . on 9/5/2913 around 8:30 pm , the car locked up again . next day , the car was working ok . 9/7/13 around 11:30 am , I was driving 65 mph on the 605 freeway . The brake locked up again . I was almost rear ended . Tow to cerritos lexus dealer , they call me and could no find any problem . They insisted the car IS safe . 9/12/13 , the car locked up again on the way home . *tr

I was driving on us 93S on golden valley, arizona in my lexus 350 when I noticed the tire pressure warning light came on. Soon after the vehicle started getting wobbly so I slowed down and put my blinking light. A minute later, the car shook as if we were riding a rectangular tire and heard a loud bang when the left driver side rear tire blew out. We were at a high speed with cars and trucks wheezing by at 75-80 mph, no appreciable shoulder, so I drove the car about half a mile to a roadside deli. The tire was a dunlop sp sport 5000, run flat, with 16,9000 miles on it. Original tire by lexus. Called the dunlop, goodyear tire company and reported the blow out incident but they refuse to honor the guarantee blaming me for the blow out. The blow out caused damage to the car too putting a hole through the wheel well.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the system operated the way it was designed. The contact was also referred to the manufacturer, who did a simulation and agreed that certain hand commands were necessary. The manufacturer also stated that the feature was operating as designed. The contact felt that she should not have to use hand commands and felt unsafe when doing so. The vehicle had not been repaired. The settlement includes Lexus?s agreement to provide a Customer Support Program for certain 2013-2020 model year (MY) vehicles originally equipped with low pressure fuel pumps repaired under Safety Recall 20LA01 or Special Service Campaign 21LC01. The purpose of this Customer Support Program letter is to help clarify how to administer this coverage in accordance with the settlement.
