on 08-03=23, I as driving MB sprinter van on highway Route 84 east toward Connecticut, when I was near Southington exit smoke was coming out of AC vent, I took exit to route 10 and stopped van right after exit on the road, and opened hood, there was active fire near lower left side engine, with help of drivers who stopped behind me, I extinguished fire with fire extinguisher and called MB road service system, police arrived first and towing vehicle from MB arrived and towed van to MB dealer called New Country Mercedes Benz, where van was inspected by technician on 08-15-23. I was told problem was overloaded alternator and serpentine belt failure. Cost to repair is around 9500 I told them I have solar Panel on roof and connected to my portable power bank battery and engine battery was never connected or used for my to power use for camping accessories. Driver for towing told MB had this problem and some vehicles were recalled, mine was not recalled.

The contact owns a 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

On occasion the vehicle will loose almost all power. It occurs at random times. It could be deadly if merging into traffic or crossing an intersection where the other drivers don’t have to stop. My complaint is regarding Mercedes Benz of Eugene, my disservice started May 20,2021, I will leave that story at the end of current complaint. On November 17,2021 I contacted Jason Cowdry, service specialist for Sprinter Vans. Two issues, the one that is consistent and no resolution is the radio. The other is documented and recorded for future evidence for repair. The van has an AM FM radio stock, came with my new purchase of this van. I reported that when tuned into a station be it on AM or FM, it begins to broadcast another radio station for about 3-10 seconds and then switch back. This occurred on any station, at any time, any location. Portland, Oregon coast, Ontario Oregon etc. Recommend repair was to replace radio. After receipt of new radio and installed the problem continued in the shop. Jason mentioned that he would need to request another radio, that is was the same issue. At that time of my revisit, Jason mentioned that another customer complained about the same issue. The radio was replaced again. I was told any issues please contact with concerns.(third radio) I drove 2 minutes away, I was on the phone to Jason stating the issue is the same and has changed broadcast 3 times in the very short time. I asked if he would like for me to return. No will set up appointment for further review. Jason went on to mention that he and the repair representative listened to the radio for 30 minutes and no issue. The first of many colorful non-truths, I was scheduled for another radio replacement, this would be the third and many inconveniences to me. Each visit was an AM appointment, each was a long day process, the joke with Jason was that it should be quicker because they have replaced it so many times. Jason mentioned that the cost of the radio was $1300.00 and need to add in labor. FYI I was told. Upon return to the dealership, I was told by Jason that in speaking with a local representative of Mercedes Benz, the radio was not this issue, they changed.

- 11009854Complaint: Noises when reversing slowly <5 km/h (squeaking) Cause: There is a seal in the electric drivetrain that seals off the coolant system from the electric motor. This seal is moistened with coolant during forward travel. As a result of the change in rotational direction when reversing slowly, it may be the case that this sealing ring is no longer moistened. Squeaking noises may occur as a result of the so-called "stick-slip effect". This behavior does not impact the function or durability of the sealing ring and electric drivetrain. Remedy: Do not replace any parts. Explain the cause of the noises to the customer.

Cause This subject is currently being analyzed for all 907s equipped with the OM642 engine. Follow the instructions related to this subject to collect information about your vehicle. After completing the checks, please open a TIPS case and attach the collected information. Remedy Please complete the following inspections and tests: 1. Perform a tailpipe wipe test and document the results along with photographs. 2. Inspect the NOx connectors, pins, crimps, and harnesses between N37/7 and N37/8 to F152f59, Z7108, W105/3, and X30/81. 3. Provide actual values/sensor plausibility test results for all pressure and temperature sensors with the engine com- pletely cooled off for at least eight hours, the key on, and the engine off. Repeat the test with the engine/exhaust at operating temperature and the engine idling. 4. Perform a pressurized smoke test of the intake, charge air system, and exhaust to verify that there are no leaks. Apply overpressure (not exceeding 26 psi) from the exhaust pipe end and seal the system at the clean airline toward the air filter housing. Manipulate all components during the smoke test. 5. Provide diesel particulate filter actual values and regeneration history. 6. Inspect the SCR temperature sensor wirings and pins for electrical and physical correctness. Determine whether this sensor reaches operating temperature while driving and document the time it takes to reach operating temperatu- re. 7. Inspect the Adblue injector nozzle/s for clogging or leaking, and provide photographs. 8. With the Adblue injector/s removed from the exhaust system, perform two to three Adblue pressure tests and check for leaks. If leaks are detected, provide photographs. 9. Collect an Adblue sample, test fluid quality, and provide notes on its condition and quantity (color, clarity, separati- on, odor, etc.), along with a photograph for review. Also, provide a photograph of the spray pattern. 10. Separate the exhaust pipe downstream of the diesel particulate filter, inspect the diesel particulate filter and SCR, and note any soot, blockage, or damage. Provide photographs. 11. Inspect the SCR catalyst interior for dried Adblue residue, and provide photographs. 12. Perform several test drives at varying speeds to gather graphical illustrations (screenshots of the completed graphs in PDF format) of signals from NOx sensors. Provide three to four graphs or actual values of operational NOx sensors with XENTRY; see attachments for examples. Additionally, provide one graph/screenshot of the vehicle idling at operating temperature. Disconnect the Adblue injection valve, drive for approximately 30 minutes to exhaust all Ad- blue within the SCR catalytic converter, and provide two to three additional NOx graphs/screenshots with the sensor disconnected. (see attachments for needed graphs)

Cause Cause of Complaint A: Increased friction between the EGR Valve blade and seat due to soot deposits causing a delay of the EGR Valve being able to reach the target value of the EGR Valve position controller. NOTE: This causes the EGR Valve blade and potentially the boost pressure controller to oscillate. Cause of Complaint B: Soot deposits between the EGR Valve blade and seat leading to the EGR Valve no longer being able to meet the desired target of the EGR Valve position controller. Cause of Complaint C: Internal EGR Valve or other electrical faults related to the EGR Valve function.

While at the collision center, please request a visual check for cracks on threaded connection of door holder in front door. 3. Replace lower hinge of front door on affected side of vehicle. (lower hinge will need to be painted) 4. Replace door holder (on both sides) with modified, shortened door holder. 5. For a repeat failure on a vehicle that has been previously repaired with the updated parts, Please create a PTSS case.

Cause Loosened nut of window lifter leads to screw connection at bottom of door breaking the mounting point in the door (see attached picture). When using the adhesive, observe the following: Roughen the bonding surfaces slightly and clean them so that they are free of grease in order to guarantee secure bonding.

Cause a) In the case of fault P300CA8: Due to incorrectly installed component parts of the clean air line between the air filter box and the exhaust gas turbocharger, it is possible that leaks may occur in the system which subsequently result in air mass faults A fouled air filter or leaks in the intake or charge air system downstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger may also cause these faults. b) In the case of fault P300CA9: Computational model for programmed values of air intake, in particular, for the high load mode, calculates this high load correction programmed value incorrectly. This leads to the programmed value drifting too quickly towards the limit. Remedy Install the following add-ons: 18937 for XENTRY 12/2020 18938 for XENTRY 03/2021

Information: Under certain operating conditions, condensation that has collected in the charge air cooler can enter the combustion chamber to a damaging degree and a damage profile is then generated (connecting rod bent). Some of the device companies supply a bypass to allow control unit programming.

- 10228812Complaint Distronic and/or Active Brake Assist inoperative after driving for an extended period Cause Blindness detection of the radar sensor. When driving for extended periods in areas with few or no objects for the radar sensor to detect, the radar sensor switches off due to the self-test and sets fault code C174AFB - The adjustment of the 'Active Brake Assist' control unit has malfunctioned. Remedy Check the area of the front radar for damage. Check whether fault code "C174AFB - The adjustment of the 'Active Brake Assist' control unit has malfunctioned" is set in the B92 or B92/1 Active Brake Assist/Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC (ABA/DTR) (FCW177) control unit. If the fault code is present, check the vertical actual values. If these are not OK, please correct the value with inspection of installation position or calibration of installation height (see attachment 2021 NDTD_Vans_Radar Sensor for best practices and functionality info) If the actual values are OK, please update the software.
