This winter a crack in the seal opened up on the driver's side wheel well. We were not aware of the crack. We noticed that the car was collecting water in the carpets down on the floor board. The water became increasingly worse over time down on the floor of the car. We tried looking for leaks and drying out the car with towels. We could not find the leaks. We tried to dry the car out as much as possible, yet, every time my soon drove the car to school at Everett Washington Community College the water became increasingly worse down on the floor of the car. So, my son stopped driving the car for a couple of months. So, I bought the car from my son. He got a different car. I tried to start the car last Sunday at 3pm in the afternoon. Flames started down on the carpet directly below the pedals. Black, dark smoke billowed out from below the steering column. I ran into my kitchen to put out the flames. The battery is damaged too. The battery is leaking acid out of the side and bulging on one side. I took it to the dealership. To see if it could be repaired.

I have a 2009 Nissan Rogue and a couple years ago the passenger airbag sensor indication on the dash continually flashes and the airbag light shows it is turned off. After a lot of research it looks like this has been a problem in 2008 and 2010 Nissan Rogues and a recall was issued. The same airbags and sensors were used in the 2009 but no recall. This could be catastrophic if the vehicle was in an accident and the airbag did not deploy.

-The car was driving it started to smell burn. car was parked. 10 minutes later took fire. total loss. -Safety was at risk due to fire. -Car is a total loss -File a case with Nissan America on 6/2024 with pictures, police report and all, no solution as of today. Case #51927325 2009 Nissan Rogue -No warning only fire odor
- Air bags
The dashboard airbag light is blinking and will not shut off. I have tried to reset it and it goes off but comes right back on. I have took it to an auto part shop for a diagnostic reading and no code comes up. I see on the internet where nissan has recalled 2008 and 2010 Rogue for this problem but not the 2009.
- Seats
My air bag warning light is flashing on and off. I’m told by my repair man that the air bag is defective and the entire passenger seat needs to be replaced.

The automatic transmission CVT is jerking when accelerating and it is a problem when in traffic. This could cause an accident. It is a risk to use. No other vehicle and have to work. I will continue to use it. Took it to AAMCO and repairs are over $5000.00 and can't afford it. New transmission or repair the one on the vehicle.
- Seat belts
The seat belt doesn't always lock when pulled all the way as it should.

The passenger side Air Bag indicator has been on since 2019, was not aware I could report it here. I have not taken it to a Dealership because I can't afford to have it fixed. In 2018, I had to replace the CV joint and front rocker arms. A piece was cracked, and when I would turn I would hear a loud POP & TICKING sound from the front passenger side tire area. Again I paid over 1500.00 to have it repaired, I no longer have the photographs or the actual parts.

I have a 2009 Nissan Rouge. The CVT TRANSMISSION is failing. I know there was a recall on certain 2009 Rouges for this. Mine is not on the recall list but I think it should be. Its leaking fluid bad, just all of a sudden. It won’ t accelerate after I stop at a traffic light , it’s sluggish, sometimes it feels like the engine is going to fall out when I do finally get it to go, it smells hot, it sputters and jerks when on freeway and in traffic I’m not sure what it’s going to do. I’m a 67 year old woman who is on a fixed income. I can’t afford a new car or to have another transmission put in this one. Nissans are suppose to last forever. They are supposed to be reliable cars. The driver's side seat is laying flat back and will not come up when I press the button. It has been like this for about two weeks. I am not comfortable driving the car but I need to have my mobility. I have a small special needs child and have not had her in the car since and have used uber on occasion. I live within public transportation in NYC so I have been taking a chance and driving like this to the subway and using the trains. I would like to see if my vehicle can be repaired under the recall #R21B9 regarding electrical issues, because based on what I am reading my issue is exactly as noted. Please review my incident and assist me in having the issue repaired. Thank you
- Air bags
The passenger side airbag indicator light flashes continually on the dash and stays illuminated on the console. This same issue was recalled for the 2008 and 2010 Nissan Rogues but for some reason not the 2009. My vehicle only has 62,000 miles on it currently and this is a safety issue.

A vehicle was purchased from Pristine Auto Sales in Hopkinsville, KY. Following the purchase, the vehicle was inspected by a licensed mechanic and he reported the following, "I/We ("Licensed Mechanic Shop") inspected "Owner's" 2009 Nissan Rogue vin# XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX today due to her hearing grinding when applying her brake to stop and the vehicle is pulling to the left when applying the brake to stop. I also noticed the airbag light is on as well. Upon inspection the brake pads, the pads in the rear of the vehicle are metal to metal (on the inside) and the front pads are 1mm thick. According to NHTSA vehicles should not be on the road or even be sold from a dealer with brake pads any thinner than 3mm. It is a MAJOR safety concern as it will cause an accident. Also, after inspecting why the airbag light was on, it is found that one or more of the occupant sensors are defective and therefor causing the airbag system to be disabled. In the event of an accident the airbag system will not work. It is also against NHTSA for a vehicle to be sold with a defective Safety system such as Airbag system." The issues were present upon purchase. The purchaser is not knowledgeable about vehicles. Given that the vehicle was sold with the safety concerns already present, it appears that this auto sale business is not in compliance with NHTSA and mechanic has spoken with the business and they were unwilling to cooperate to ensure repairs were made on vehicle.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated, and the "Passenger Air Bag Off" warning message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with occupant sensor unit failure. The front passenger seat and the occupant sensor unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer, Nissan of Melbourne (440 S Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne, FL 32901) and Mike Erdman Nissan (4640 FL-520, Cocoa, FL 32926) were made aware of the failure and informed the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000. Consumer called 3 different Nissan dealers in our local area (Pat Fischer Nissan, Nissan of Melbourne, and Mike Erdman Nissan) and they concurred you cannot just buy the sensor, you must order the seat which contains the sensor (seat part #873A2JM30B). The list price is $1,630.45—even with Nissan dealer installation, the seat must be ordered and paid for in advance and is not returnable as it is part of the Air Bag System. The labor cost is approximately $230-$250 when you add in additional shop fees and taxes, the total repair cost is in the $2,000 range.

I contacted Nissan July 2018 and was told there were no reports of the issue I was having... Unfortunately what I've experienced seems to be common. I occasionally work as a self employed artist and on long trips my Rogue will refuse to speed up. It doesn't matter how hard I press the gas pedal. It's like something isn't connecting. Nissan said they couldn't find any reports of this happening but I see many complaints. The suv refuses to go over 20mph, sometimes even lower. This issue has put my life at risk many times and I'm wondering what it will take for something to change!? It happened going uphill multiple times and seems to happen when traffic is at a stop and go. The only recall issue I saw had to do with snow and salt getting in somewhere. This seems to happen when it's warmer outside.

2009 nissan rogue with less than 60,000 original miles won't accelerate even when pushing down the throttle pedal. on the highway, once driven for a while, it will not maintain speed no matter how much throttle IS applied. research seems to indicate a transmission design flaw. there are lots of similar complaints that can be found on-line. I feel this IS very much a safety hazard.

The airbag warning lamp turned on out of nowhere when I started my car.. Just a regular day.. Seems to be an issue with the sensor and there IS an active recall for 08 and '14 models with the same issue.. However the nissan dealer told me that they get a lot of clients with this issue for 09 models.

- 10197182Expiration Notification Wheel Valve Stem Nut ***** Campaign Summary***** In 2009, Nissan launched a Voluntary Service Campaign on certain 2008-2009 Rogue, 2009 Murano, and 2009 cube vehicles registered in states that do not use heavy concentrations of road salt in the winter, to replace the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) nut with new, more corrosion resistant ones. Nissan determined the material used in the nut on the Rogue, cube, and Murano that secures the TPMS sensor to the wheel was not manufactured to specification and may corrode and potentially crack if driven regularly in areas where a heavy concentration of road salt is used. If this occurs, the nut may come out of the sensor causing the TPMS lamp to illuminate. If the TPMS lamp is disregarded, and the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the tire can quickly lose air pressure resulting in a flat tire. This customer service campaign and customer reimbursement for these repairs are no longer available. The expiration of this Voluntary Service Campaign has no effect on the status of Voluntary Safety Recall R0909. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Service Comm will deactivate P9241 on any unrepaired VINs on May 13, 2021. No further dealer action is required.
- 10196983VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN ROGUE, MURANO, cube; WHEEL VALVE STEM NUT Service Campaign ID # P9241 is no longer active. Repair orders opened after this bulletins published date are no longer eligible for reimbursement under Campaign ID # P9241. Discard all previous versions of NTB09-110.
- 10192805IF YOU CONFIRM A refrigerant leak at a refrigerant pipe/hose joint location. ACTIONS 1. Inspect the metal surfaces of the pipe/hose joint for damage or contamination. NOTE: Do not replace a refrigerant pipe, hose, or other A/C component if an o-ring seal will solve the leak incident, if it should occur. 2. If no damage is found to the joint metal surfaces, replace the O-ring seal. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192801SERVICE INFORMATION Because of collision damage or other vehicle repair, a replacement "Certification Label" or "VIN Plate / Label" may be needed. These items may be available from Nissan by request if certain criteria are met. This bulletin lists the criteria and provides an application form for such replacements. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192727SERVICE INFORMATION The purpose of this bulletin is to give Nissan dealers guidelines to help determine if windshield breakage is covered under warranty or is the customer?s responsibility. Nissan North America (NNA) is not responsible for damage to glass that is a result of objects striking or scratching the glass. However, NNA is responsible for manufacturing issues such as distorted glass and cracks that are due to improper installation or damage to the glass during vehicle assembly. NNA typically does not find any type of cracks in the windshield due to stress after the dealership PDI. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192678IF YOU CONFIRM There is a vibration or judder feeling from the rear of the vehicle; when making, turns, on dry roads, or at low speeds (under 40 MPH), and the vibration does not occur if the Electric Controlled Coupling is electrically disconnected. ACTION Replace the Electric Controlled Coupling for the rear final drive. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192677SERVICE INFORMATION Windshield "foreign material" that is on the surface of the glass in some cases can be cleaned off with a very particular type and grade of steel wool. * Most any foreign material on the surface of the Windshield can be cleaned off by using #0000 super fine steel wool. >The #0000 grade super fine steel wool can be found in most hardware stores. Please see this bulletin for further details.
- 10192638SERVICE INFORMATION This bulletin has compiled Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) and Low Tire Pressure Warning System (LTPWS) information for: - Basic diagnosing of TPMS/LTPWS systems - Radio frequency interference causing a "No Data" (C1708, C1709, C1710, C1711) condition - Sensor leaks - Moving TPMS/LTPWS wheel assemblies from one vehicle to another and TPMS/LTPWS sensor registration - Air pressure changes with altitude and ambient temperatures - Aftermarket tire sealers - Aftermarket wheels - Inflating/deflating tires with TPMS/LTPWS sensors See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192617IF YOU CONFIRM An oil leak from the Adapter Case Oil Seal or the O-ring (see Figure 1). ACTION NOTE: DO NOT replace the Transfer Case for a leak from the Adapter Case Oil Seal or the O-ring. Reseal the Adapter Case with the seals listed in PARTS INFORMATION and shown in Figure 1. * Please see this bulletin for further details.
- 10192615SERVICE INFORMATION The information in this bulletin is provided to help ensure correct diagnosis and repair of fluid leaks. All fluid leaks, when properly diagnosed, should be repaired (whether under warranty or customer pay) to ensure proper vehicle operation. However, certain normal operating conditions can be misdiagnosed as a leak requiring repair. Unnecessary repair or replacement of parts in connection with incorrectly diagnosed "leaks" can negatively impact customer satisfaction, be time consuming and costly, and if not performed correctly can lead to future repairs. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192597SERVICE INFORMATION When servicing run flat tires or low profile tires: - Special equipment and procedures are required to avoid damage. - Specifically, Tire Pressure Monitor transmitters (TPMS sensors) can be damaged when improperly dismounting and mounting tires. - TPMS sensors becoming damaged during mounting or dismounting tires are not covered under warranty. - To avoid such damage, ensure that the tire changer being used and the operator of the tire changer is capable of servicing run flat and low profile tires. - Operator?s manuals for such tire changers must be followed. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192591SERVICE INFORMATION After ECM reprogramming, the Calibration Verification Number (CVN) needs to be automatically calculated prior to State emissions testing (also known as Inspection Maintainence, I/M, or SMOG testing depending upon location). Allowing the vehicle to idle for 22 minutes will allow for faster CVN calculation. It is recommended that customers utilize this method if the vehicle needs to be tested for emissions soon after ECM reprogramming. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192532SERVICE INFORMATION NOTE - Failure to follow the procedures in this bulletin may result in the denial of a warranty claim. In an effort to protect the paint finish, Paint Guard Film (PGF) is applied on many new Nissan vehicles. Paint Guard Film is a temporary white plastic protective film that is applied by the factory to the horizontal painted surfaces of the vehicle. The PGF protects the paint finish during vehicle handling, transportation and storage from harmful elements such as acid rain, iron particles, bird droppings, tree sap and other environmental contaminants. NOTE - Paint Guard Film CANNOT remain on the vehicle for more than six months after the vehicle's manufacture date. PGF must be removed at the end of six months. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192513SERVICE INFORMATION Changes or modifications to the front seat assembly trim materials may affect the proper operation of the Front Seat-Mounted Side-Impact Supplemental Air Bags and Passenger Occupant Classification Sensor and could result in serious personal injury or death. Nissan STRONGLY RECOMMENDS AGAINST making any change to seat trim materials from the factory equipped condition. This specifically applies to replacing the seat trim with non-factory materials; adding leather/cloth seat covers, seat pads, or seat storage pouches, etc. around or over the seat back and the passenger seat cushion. See this bulletin for further detail.
- 10192474SERVICE INFORMATION If a customer describes lack of power or poor acceleration, perform the following checks before attempting any repair: * Check for stored DTCs. * Check if the driver is resting their left foot on the brake pedal while accelerating. Advise the customer not to rest their foot on the brake while accelerating. * Use CONSULT-III plus in Engine Data Monitor to check operation of the brake lamp circuit signal. Monitor the brake switch during the incident; it should be "OFF". Please see this bulletn for further details.
- 10192394SERVICE INFORMATION Related to communication codes U1000, U1001, U1002, U1010: - Always diagnose the communication codes first. - When a module reports a U1000 code, it is typically operating normally; however, there is a communication error external to that module on the CAN network. - U1000 indicates an error. V-CAN diagram or CAN Diag Support Monitor provides data to determine the location of the error. See this bulletin for more information.
- 10192348IF YOU CONFIRM: An electrical issue caused by corrosion in the Main Harness to Body Harness connectors located at the bottom of the driver side A-pillar: Connector numbers M13 to B3 and/or M14 to B4. ACTIONS: 1. Preform repairs to harness connectors as needed. 2. Apply Harness Protector to cover the harness connectors. See this bulletin for further detail.
