These records cover every 2024 Nissan Rogue. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
4 recalls name the 2024 Nissan Rogue. Newest first.
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. Increased temperatures can break down the engine oil, which may cause the engine bearings to seize and become damaged, leading to engine failure.
Engine failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.
Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, inspect for diagnostic trouble codes, and test drive the vehicle, free of charge. The dealer may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris, and replace the engine if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2 and R25E3. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V437. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 27, 2026.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Rogue and 2025 INFINITI QX80 vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
The in-vehicle infotainment software will be updated by an over-the-air (OTA) software update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R24B3 and R24B4.
My vehicle was parked in parking lot for 4 hours untouched with no traffic around it when the hatchback window suddenly exploded. A small 3" square of glass flew out and away from the rest of the window and the rest of the glass spiderwebbed splintered with glass falling out in pieces around the frame. The shattered glass was inspected by glass repair technician. There were no warnings or symptoms during the 25 minute commute to the parking lot or when turning the car off before exiting the vehicle. I have security camera footage showing the glass spontaneously exploding on its own.
Back windshield exploded. I was at work, got into my car, closed the door and BANG it sounded like a very loud bang and my back windshield was completely shattered. It scared me to death!!
On a Friday heading to work, my 2024 Nissan Rogue experienced a sudden and violent stall while I was attempting to accelerate in traffic, creating an immediate safety hazard. The vehicle instantly entered a severe limp mode. The dashboard flashed an engine malfunction warning and blocked all acceleration inputs. The engine would turn on and idle, but the second I pressed the gas pedal the vehicle would shut off completely. I had a mobile mechanic come out to do a diagnostic scan after i had the car towed home. The diagnostic scan retrieved only electronic throttle control codes P2101 and P2119. There was absolutely no antifreeze or smoke coming out of the tailpipe at the time of the mechanical failure when my vehicle broke down. The vehicle became completely undrivable due to the electronic throttle body failing in motion, which matches open safety recall defects for this model year. Nissan Consumers Affairs is currently refusing to cover the repair under the factory recall safety campaigns.
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle and closing the door, the rear trunk glass shattered, making a loud sound like a gunshot. The contact became aware that the glass was very hot, almost burning the contact’s hand. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
Rear window shattered. XXX, 8:40 am [XXX] temperature approximately 46 degrees F. Rear defrost was not on as the sun melted any frost accumulation, front window defrost was on for about 5 minutes and turned off. Car was driven approximately 20 miles and parked for approximately 10 minutes with the engine turned off. Car was started and and put into reverse and the rear window shattered. No individuals or vehicles in the vicinity. The glass shards were powerful enough to puncture 2 aluminum cans of soda in a box in the trunk. Rear windshield on 2024 Rogue spontaneously exploded. Driving on the highway when this happened and put my as the driver at risk. Induced panick and put my safety at risk. Not only did I have to exit my vehicle on a busy highway but I now have to leave my vehicle unattended with no barrier from the weather or people wishing to break into my vehicle. The problem has been identified by other Rogue owners across the country and is stated to be caused by the nickel sulfide inclusion. Police reported no outside interference or anything that would have hit and caused the breakage. Nissan is aware but states that it is from wear and tear on the vehicle. No warning or signs were presented. Car is in good condition with no suspect that anything was wrong. While driving I heard a loud bang/smack followed my crackling. The entire back window was shattered and once I opened the driver door the entirety of the glass fell out.
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the codes displayed were not associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V0810000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the throttle body was not closing. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V081000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 66,300.
On October 3rd while driving at approximately 60 MPH in the middle lane of a high-speed highway, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure. Without warning, the vehicle dropped into severe "limp mode," completely losing power and ability to maintain highway speeds. This created an immediate, life-threatening safety hazard as I was trapped in a live middle lane of traffic with rapidly decelerating speed. I was forced to navigate across active lanes to reach a breakdown lane near a notoriously dangerous, short-merge entrance ramp exit 38 off of I95 to the Merritt Parkway connector in Connecticut. After shutting the vehicle off and attempting a restart, the vehicle remained severely degraded. To reach physical safety, I had to crawl the vehicle at a dangerous 10 MPH on the highway shoulder to the nearest exit 36 off off of I95 and eventually to the local Nissan dealership service department. The Check Engine Light illuminated during this crisis. After a diagnostic test the mechanic informed me that the engine reached 278 degrees and there was no coolant in the reservoir with no external leak and it smelled .
The car has engine problems and I try to fixed but didn’t fix and has electrical issues
The rearview backup camera intermittently fails, displaying a solid black screen when shifted into Reverse, creating an immediate backover hazard in direct violation of FMVSS 111. The infotainment system is confirmed stuck on factory launch firmware SQ3A.220705.003.A1. This failure exactly mirrors NHTSA Recall 24V-748 (Nissan Recall R24B3) for 2024 Rogues. Nissan Consumer Affairs (Case #XXX) has refused diagnostic or software update assistance because the vehicle is marginally outside basic warranty (~37,500 miles) and this specific VIN was omitted from the initial recall population. The manufacturer is demanding a $180 diagnostic fee to inspect a documented federal safety defect. The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 - 40 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled, with the message "Engine Malfunction - Power Reduced" displayed. Due to the failure, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed, and the vehicle was coasted and push into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with throttle body failure. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed that the failure was associated with a previous transmission failure and replacement and suggested to the dealer that the failure was associated with the throttle body. The dealer informed the contact that the throttle body had been replaced; however, no paperwork was provided to the contact about the repair. The failure mileage was 63,000.
On December 30 2025, at 33,277 miles, I had an engine failure due to a cracked head. I was stranded on the road in 24F temperature outside and the vehicle had to be towed. It lost acceleration power and heat. Several warning messages and lights were on. Eleven weeks later, Nissan replaced the engine. Two weeks later, the catalytic converter went out and had to be replaced. Four months later, in August, the turbo went out and had to be replaced. On October 7 2026, at 46,800 miles, the new engine failed and I was again stranded at 44F temperature outside and the vehicle had to be towed. No warning lights or messages. It lost acceleration power and heat. It is currently at the Nissan dealership awaiting diagnostics. I drive 100 miles a day. I cannot continue driving such an unreliable vehicle and risk being stranded on the road in adverse conditions again.
The back windshield completely shattered while parked. No one was in or around the vehicle and nothing hit the vehicle causing it to shatter.
On [XXX], I was driving for about 40 minutes on the highway when my car stopped accelerating and the dashboard said it reduced power and required service. It was towed to Lia Nissan in Schenectady NY where they said it was an electrical recall and that they fixed the problem. Then on [XXX], I was driving on the highway again for about 40 minutes when the same issue occurred. I stopped being able to accelerate and the car went into reduce power mode. It was towed to Country Club Nissan in Oneonta NY where they had my vehicle from 8/7/26 until 9/4/26. They determined it was an oil temperature control valve that needed replacing. On [XXX], on the same spot on the highway, my car stopped accelerating and broke down yet again. It was towed to Country Club Nissan in Oneonta NY again where they replaced the same part they’d previously replaced. Both times, the oil temperature in my car was overheated. Now I’m unable to drive it on the highway for fear it will happen for a 4th time. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While operating the vehicle, the electronic shifter assembly failed completely, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the desired gear. The dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal electrical/mechanical failure of the shifter assembly and cited "sticky residue" near the center console as the cause, subsequently denying warranty coverage. This design places highly sensitive, non-sealed electrical shifter components directly adjacent to the center console cup holders. Under normal, foreseeable cabin use, any minor environmental moisture or fluid proximity causes immediate, catastrophic failure of the shifting mechanism. This is a severe safety hazard as it can leave the vehicle abruptly stranded in active traffic, prevent the driver from placing the vehicle into 'Park' securely, or trap occupants in an unsafe location without the ability to move the vehicle out of harm's way. Nissan has previously acknowledged this exact vulnerability in earlier model years under Technical Service Bulletin NTB21-069A (which explicitly covered shifter replacement even with liquid intrusion), demonstrating that the underlying component design remains fundamentally flawed and unsafe for standard automotive environments.
Glass on the back lift gate of the vehicle shattered when closing the driver's side door. Thankfuly this happened while the car was parked, but if it happened while driving or with others around or in the back seat, being showered with glass doesn't seem very safe. I've read reports of this happening to other cars of the same make/model. It's currently being replaced by an auto glass service center. No warrnings or messages.
The rear liftgate glass on my 2024 Nissan Rogue SV AWD spontaneously shattered. There was no collision or known impact with the glass. The vehicle had aprox. 49300 miles and I had purchased it form Enterprise car Sales approximately one week before the incident. the rear glass suddenly shattered/imploded. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and they opened a case under my VIN. Nissan provided me with a case number but advised that they will not provide repair assistance at this time. Enterprise Car Sales has been notified and is having its mechanic inspect the vehicle.
Rear window exploded when I got in and closed my driver's door.
At approximately 5:45pm on 10/01/26, my rear window/glass hatch shattered. It sounded like an explosion. I was driving approximately 10 mph in rush hour traffic and immediately looked to my right, then left and was surrounded by vehicles on each side. Nothing had fell off another vehicle (I was in the middle lane), not near a bridge or overpass. I drove 1.3 miles to a Murphy gas station and got out to assess the damage.
I was driving down the road when my rear windshield shattered after making a loud pop while I was driving down the road, and when I stopped, it shattered all over the road and inside my car.
Rear lift gate window spontaneously shattered
I have tried without success to have Nissan Consumer Affairs assist me with an ongoing issue with my vehicle that started in February of 2026. The check engine light coming on and sending various codes related to system too lean. It was repaired in March of 2026 only to come on again this past August of 2026. Dealership in Crystal Lake Illinois M'Lady claimed it was repaired only for the light to come on again. They still are not sure why it's happening. They've had master technician from Nissan come and still cannot resolve the issue. The case manager at Nissan consumer affairs is extremely rude and unhelpful. She refuses to help me get the outcome desired with this case. She hasn't even bothered to contact the dealer where my car is to inquire about the updates or services done to the car. I want an early termination of my lease so that I can get a vehicle that is in working condition. I'm paying almost $600 a month on a vehicle that isn't safe or functional. Please help me get this resolved as consumer affairs is unwilling to act with efficiency and professionalism. Thanks
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On December 13, 2023, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE23-023 to investigate allegations of engine failures leading to loss of motive power in model year (MY) 2021-2023 Nissan Rogue; MY 2019-2021 Nissan Altima; and MY 2019-2021 Infiniti QX50 vehicles. At that time, ODI had received 6 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ) and multiple early warning reports, with consumers reporting engine knocking noises accompanied by a loss of engine power while driving. The investigation identified bearing failures in certain vehicles equipped with the subject 3-cylinder 1.5L or 4-cylinder 2.0L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. ODI also identified early warning reports describing thermal incidents that occurred immediately after the vehicle suffered a catastrophic engine failure. The failures were the result of a manufacturing defect in specific engine bearings (main, A-, C-, and L-link) or other engine components that may cause engine damage and potentially lead to engine failure. Engine failure can result in a loss of motive power event that can increase the risk of a crash. Engine failure might also result in a fire if internal components detach and impact the engine block creating a hole that allows engine oil to reach hot surfaces. In its April 2024, May 2024, and June 2025 responses to ODI’s information requests, Nissan provided 998 customer reports (including complaints, field reports, and legal claims) and 1,107 warranty claims related to the alleged defect. When combining ODI and manufacturer report data, there are 1,878 unique VINs that have experienced failures across all subject vehicles. In one of the early warning reports, ODI identified an incident involving a 2022 Infiniti QX55 that resulted in an engine fire following an alleged engine failure. The 2022 Infiniti QX55 was not included in the scope of this investigation but the vehicle model shares the same 4-cylinder 2.0L variable compression turbo engine. Based on the information included with the early warning report, the fire can be directly related to the alleged defect. A further review of ODI and manufacturer data, identified 12 allegations of engine compartment fires in subject vehicles; three were confirmed as directly related to the engine failure, and nine reports described an under-hood fire that occurred following a loss of power event. Additionally, ODI identified multiple reports describing an engine block crack or hole surrounded by oil residue following an engine failure. On June 27, 2025, Nissan submitted recall 25V-437 involving 443,899 MY 2021-2023 Nissan Rogue, MY 2019-2021 Nissan Altima; MY 2019-2021 Infiniti QX50; and 2022 Infiniti QX55 vehicles. The recall remedy provides the dealer instructions to inspect the engine oil pan for the presence of specific metal debris. For customers with the 3-cylinder 1.5L VC-Turbo engine, if no debris is detected during the inspection, dealers will replace the oil pan gasket, engine oil, and reprogram the vehicle’s Engine Control Module (ECM). For customers with the 4-cylinder 2.0L VC-Turbo engine, if no debris is detected, dealers will replace the engine oil. In the case where specific debris is detected and confirmed by Nissan Powertrain Call Center, dealers will be instructed to replace the engine. In addition, Nissan will extend the vehicle warranty to 10 years and 120,000 miles for the recall subject vehicle population after the dealer performs the inspection. Nissan has implemented multiple corrective actions to address the identified manufacturing defects of certain engine block internal components. In view of the recall action (25V437) taken by Nissan, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
