Engine oil that drips onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold may result in a fire.
Remedy
The remedy applied under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engines front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, or 15V-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on February 19, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Oldsmobile customer service at 1-800-442-6537 and Pontiac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 15757. Note: Until the improved remedy has been applied, owners are advised to park their vehicle outside since the fire risk exists even when the vehicle is unattended.

Dorman IS recalling 979 steering knuckles, dorman p/nos. 697-902 and 697-903, sold under dorman's "oe solutions<sup>tm</sup>" brand name, and napa p/nos. 7-8502 and 7-8503 which were sold for replacement use on the various vehicles listed above. a potential material or design defect could result in the steering knuckle breaking in the hub area.

Gm IS recalling 207,542 my 1997-2003 buick regal and pontiac grand prix vehicles equipped with a 3.8L supercharged V-6 engine. these vehicles have higher front rocker cover gasket temperatures, creating the potential for earlier degradation of the front rocker cover gasket and eventual oil seepage.

Remedy

Certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, p/nos. Fp10020-11b1, fp10026-11b1, and fp10027-11b1, sold after january 9, 2007, as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles listed above. the universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer.

In the event of a crash that would trigger a passenger side air bag deployment, this undersized orifice can cause the inflator module to explode. if an air bag inflator module explodes, metal and/or plastic debris could cause severe injury to the vehicle occupant.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the passenger side air bag modules.

The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer for service under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V701000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however after the service the vehicle started but did not idle due to an air intake hose not reinstalled on the vehicle. The contact stated that the air intake hose needs to be replaced however, the repairs have not been completed. The contact stated that before taking the vehicle into service the manufacturer was made aware of an issue with the dealer due to his interaction with the service manager. He was worried that the dealer was not going to service his vehicle correctly. The contact did not have a case number available as he stated that he had contacted the manufacturer several times. The contact stated that the vehicle had no issues before the recall service. The approximate failure mileage was 159,000.

The valve cover facing the rear towards the fire wall was still the old valve cover! And IS still leaking oil which im afraid might take out my engine if it blows the head gasket completely and cause a fire,can even cause a major accident! Please help. Technicians should do a complete service not just half of the job and be lazy to not even replace the rear valve cover thats very irresponsible and what if I had kids or family when this happens

I just bought this car from a private owner and was wondering if this was the problem. It seems that when I put oil in it IS does leak on to the ground but with how much oil I put it in already doesnt explain where the rest of it went, ID say about 5 quarts in a day. This happens to a lot of gm vehicle made in this vehicle year. There are many on the internet with the same vehicle defect. This IS clearly a gm vehicle defect. This vehicle needs to be recall as a public safety hazzard. Mygm reference number IS ( 8-3665783770). So please do the public a service and have this vehicle recall , because this problem IS a public safety hazzard. No one mechanic seen to be able to find the problem. This happens after they say my vehicle, spent lots of money ,but no one seems to know what causes this problem, including gm.

I am probably the 3RD owner of this car and was unaware of the recall. I researched and found that the recall exists because I was searching for a reason for my car to experience an engine fire this past monday. After calling the manufacturer, it appears that the search for current owners IS not in the purview of the manufacturer and all of the responsibility for the research of the car IS on the purchaser. At the time of the fire, the car had been being driven to the coffee store, when returning to the car about 10 minutes later, it was discovered to be engulfed in flame. with flames coming out from the hood. my issue IS with the responsibility of notification and the reasonable expectation of a consumer that the manufacturer of a licensed vehicle make attempts to communicate recall data beyond the scope of the original purchaser. All states monitor all licensed vehicles including the current owner. It seems that this data can be utilized to make a far better attempt to locate owners when such a hazard exists with the car. I was completely unaware of the recall status of this car.

In sept 2011 my 2000 pontiac gran priz burst into flames under the hood it was parked at farm credit. I only had liability insurance so no claim was filed. I recently received a recall notice for a possible engine fire. I contacted gm and was told nothing could be done because I didn't have the car anymore. Of course I don't have the car it burnt completely up!!!

Takata recall my 2000 pontiac grand prix recently stopped going in d one day I came outside my house and started my car it went in reverse perfectly fine just wouldnt go in d so I used the manual option off 1ST gear and the gears worked only for a matter of time before they also went out. On another occasion still not going in drive using the manual option my car completley would not move when I tried to go at a stop sign in any gear other than reverse. I have searched the internet to find out a lot of people with the same car also has this problem they say it could be the slenoid in the transmission or the transmission itself.

I was approaching an stop light and a large box truck was moving in reverse quickly. All I could due was brake to try and stop so the truck would not hit me. The truck hit my vehicle. Damaging my front end a little. The truck actually rolled on top of my hood before coming to complete stop. My daughter had been driving this 2000 pontiac and was complaining of it smelling "hot" all the time. We had the service shop take a look under the hood, and he instantly said, check with gm on a recall for these leaky valve covers"! Interestingly enough, we had that very recall notice hanging on the fridge, waiting for a call that" parts were available and to bring the car in for repairs"! Well guess what gm, a few days after I called a local gm dealer, and she said "oh no, we don't have parts on hand, we just wait for people to call and then order them", the car burned up! Just as they said could happen! They also said don't park inside a garage! They are right! It was parked outside the shop, thank goodness, when it burst into flames! I could have easily lost daughters in this blaze, due to gm's failure to repair the car correctly the first time, then failure to have the parts needed to repair it the second time it was recalled!! Now they don't want to replace the vehicle they let burn up!! I filed a complaint, sent pictures of the burned up thing, and they basically say "tough luck". I am throughly disappointed in gm on this deal. You should be willing to take ownership of this car problem, step up to the plate, and do what IS right! First offer 610.00 dollars! Ha! What car do I buy my daughter for that!? Second offer 800.00, again, what car do I buy my daughter for that? Bring me out a couple of cars at that price gm, and we will see if they can replace the car you let burn up! We are out a car, out transportation to and from college, out contents of the car, we figured to be around $3600.00! And you say $800.00! Google this recall #15757 up and see just how many of us are out of luck! I just thank god that the car had just been parked at the repair shop, and didn't burst into flames while my daughters were driving it down the highway, and you should too gm!

(Gm) has notified the agency that it will conduct a safety recall (identified by nhtsa recall number 08v-118) to address a defect in approximately 207,542 model year (my) 1997-2003 buick regal GS and pontiac grand prix gtp vehicles equipped with the L67 supercharged version of gm's 3800 series II V6 engine.the recalled regal GS vehicles were built from august 1996 to june 2003 and the grand prix gtp from march 1996 through january 2003.according to gm, oil may escape past the valve cover gasket on the front cylinder bank (cylinders 1-3-5) and deposit onto hot exhaust system components.under certain conditions, it IS possible for this oil to ignite a small pilot flame, which may spread to the adjacent plastic spark plug wire channel, the spark plug wires themselves, the plastic engine cover, and other under hood components.reports indicate this most often occurs on higher-mileage vehicles shortly after the vehicle has been driven and then parked.typically, the fire was discovered within 5 to 15 minutes after the vehicle was parked.during this time window, under hood temperatures may become elevated.such elevated temperatures combined with a lack of airflow through the engine compartment may permit a small pilot flame to propagate and ignite other fuel sources.to correct the safety defect, gm will install an improved design front valve cover gasket and spark plug wire retainer.this remedy will be suppliedfree of charge for all recalled vehicles.until sufficient parts become available to repair all of the affected vehicles, gm strongly recommends that owners observe the following important precautions: (1) they strongly recommend that owners do not park their vehicle in a garage, carport, or other structure; (2) if owners notice a burning odor, they should have their dealer inspect the vehicle - the dealer will inspect the vehicle without charge; and (3) use premium fuel (91 octane or higher) in the vehicle as recommended in the vehicle's owner manual.the action taken by gm IS sufficient to resolve the issues raised by this investigation.the subject fire incident rate on the c-, g-, and h-platform subject vehicles IS low.the agency will continue to monitor this issue and reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.see document file for additional information regarding this resume.

On january 29, 2007, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened a preliminary evaluation to investigate alleged non-crash fires originating in the engine compartment in certain model year (my) 1999-2002 pontiac grand prix gtp vehicles equipped with the ?L67? Supercharged version of the general motors (gm) 3800 series II V6 engine.to date, odi IS aware of 121 non-duplicative complaints on the subject vehicles that allege non-crash related fires originating in the engine compartment while driving or after the vehicle IS parked and the ignition switched off. While no subject component has yet been identified, odi analysis of available information indicates that the alleged fire incident rate among the subject vehicles IS significantly higher than gm peer vehicles that use the non-supercharged ?L36? Version of the gm 3800 series II V6 engine.in some cases, the fire incident rate IS twice as high in the subject vehicles and up to as much as an order of magnitude greater than in non-supercharged peer vehicles.for instance, the subject fire incident rate for the supercharged my 2000 pontiac grand prix gtp IS approximately 236 per 100,000 vehicles produced (58 fires / 24,509 subject vehicles or 0.236%) while the fire incident rate for my 2000 pontiac grand prix vehicles equipped with the naturally aspirated ?L36? Engine IS approximately 18 per 100,000 vehicles produced (17 fires / 90,338 vehicles or 0.018%). The manufacturer?s investigation into alleged engine compartment fires on the subject vehicles IS ongoing.accordingly, this investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea07-008) to further study the frequency and scope of the alleged defect. Based on the information reviewed in pe07-006, the range of subject vehicles under investigation will be expanded to include all my 1999-2002 buick park avenue, regal, and riviera, oldsmobile lss, and pontiac bonneville and grand prix vehicles that use the same or substantially similar transverse mounted ?L67? Engine.
