• 11005280Mainly sporadic, isolated but also permanent faults occur in the throttle grip sensor, throttle valve,crankshaft signal, camshaft signal, transmission signal, fuel pressure sensor, gear-lever sensor (GearShift Assistant), oxygen sensor and switching cam. These can result in functional impairments andmalfunctions, fault messages and fault memory entries. Besides isolated defective components, the sporadic faults are often mainly caused by contactproblems and increased contact resistances. These can generally occur along the entire signal pathof the respective affected component, but especially at plug connections. In this context, the plugconnection to the engine control unit has emerged as the main focus of the fault. Analyses of defective parts showed that in many cases the passivation (a production coating) of thepins at the plug-in contact (plug connection) of the engine control unit can result in correspondingfaults. A service solution for cleaning the pins has been created which can considerably improvecontact if implemented correctly. In most cases, this means that exchanging expensive componentslike the DME or the wiring harness can be avoided.

The new maintenance schedule is not limited to vehicles affected by the SI 33 02 22 (SERVICE ACTION: Swingarm Drain retrofit and Driveshaft Check), but is valid for all K5x models - including retroactively. In case of retroactive validity (model year 2023 and older), affected customers will be informed about the change. For vehicles affected by SI 33 02 22 (SERVICE ACTION: Swingarm Drain retrofit and Driveshaft Check), this service action must be performed first. All conditions described in this bulletin apply after the open Service Action has been completed. No additional communication is required for K5x models model year 2024 and onwards. Those models have the new maintenance schedule in their owners manual.

The separating action of the clutch can worsen gradually over a period of time.

Over the service life of the vehicle, there can be impairment of functions up to a loss of function of the gearshift assistants. In the case of a loss of function, a gear change (without the gearshift assistant) is possible only with the actuation of the clutch lever.
