Continue to experience shorts in the electrical system, the ABS light will come on and the vehicle will not advance out of 1ST gear. prior to this event this last time - when the ac was used at 70 mph there was a strong odor that resymbled burning wiring and the vehicle was taken to out of town dealer for service. dealer determined wiring to rear ac was insufficient and the circuit was fused for protection to get me and my show dogs back home ~200 miles. vehicle did make it home but the next morning was inoperative.
Vehicle has been an electrical nightmare - feel very unsafe and I transport live animals to shows as well as equipment and passengers - very concerned about possible fire. have had to drive shift interlock mechanism by starting vehicle in neutral and then shifting out of gear - dealer has adjusted and replaced this feature 5 times also rear back up lights are intermitent and high rear brake light does not work.
When brakes were applied in an emergency situation they did not respond as they should. Pedal was normal, but brakes grabbed and then released. vehicle kept coasting into vehicle in front of it. GMC has been contacted. *ak

The drivers shoulder and lap belt IS physically too short in length and prevents forward or lateral movement of more than just a few inches, even if the brakes are not applied and the driver moves his torso forward slowly so as not to trigger the locking mechanism. I am not a large person although my height 6'1" and my frame 210lbs. Would put my in the upper percentile of drivers. Because the belt IS so short , it becomes necessary to unbuckle the seat belt to perform such simple tasks as flipping the rear view mirror when confronted with a vehicle approaching from the rear with their high beam headlamps on, changing the radio dial, or trying to adjust the outside mirror on the van. I have measured the distance of the belt on the passenger side front and find them very close in length. The problem appears to stem from where the shoulder belt IS anchored on the side wall above the drivers left shoulder. This location IS easily 5 inches farther back on the bulkhead than what the passenger side mount IS. This coupled with the fact that the drivers seat IS anchored further forward than the passenger side further reduces the belt length. I have tried using a belt extender but in doing so I find the lap and shoulder belt are not in a safe position should a crash occur and significant internal injury would result. I had contacted glaval (the conversion manufacturer) and they informed me the seats and restraints were factory original from gm, and they don't mess with them or change them in any way. Any help you could give in this situation would be greatly appreciated. *Ak
