Winter of 2014, silverado would engage it's stabilitrack control. When this happens it slows the speed at which the truck could go if it sensed the roads may be icy. The truck would move but very slowly and it felt as if you had no control over it. Even when braking it seemed to not want to brake. Dangerous if it felt to engage while on the road. We removed the fuse that was associated to the stabilitrack and for a moment worked. Then while searching on you tube, we found that a sensor was replaced on other trucks. We replaced the sensor and it stopped it. Truck has been good until this winter 2015-2016. Now the internal temperature of the truck has to be at least 33 degrees or higher in order for it to start in the mornings. Otherwise it IS dead. I have to get rides to work, since I work in town, I am able to have someone drive me back home between 9AM and 10AM to come get my truck, cause by that time it usually IS warm enough for it to start. Unless the whole day IS going to be below 32 degrees, well then I am just [xxx] out of luck! There are no recalls, but I know I can't be the only one who IS having this problem. You tube shows many videos with these trucks and how after they do one thing, it works, then they have to do another and another. I think that gm needs to fix these issues for free. It should be a recall. I just can't be dishing out money whenever the truck decides it wants to not work, gm has to know exactly what IS wrong, instead of just saying one thing and then another to get our money. We are already paying for the truck monthly, don't think gm IS hurting for money. Gm do something about this!!!! I have always been a loyal chevrolet consumer, my thoughts are changing. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *Tr

Three cracks around the passenger airbag. First cracked appeared about 60,000 miles followed by the next smaller one then around 85,000 the larger one. This appears to be a common problem that gm IS aware of but IS not accepting responsibility for the potential safety hazard.

The dashboard IS cracked in 3 places around the airbag. this could potentially be a safety hazard if the airbag were to deploy sending projectile pieces of plastic towards the occupants of the vehicle. the cracks in the dashboard formed due to an obvious design flaw. there was no incident that caused the cracks just normal driving.

My dash was fine on 6-10-15, when got in it on the morning of 6-11-15 the dash was cracked by the airbag. the vehicle IS 5 years old but only has 54,000 miles. I am the only owner and it has been well maintained. this seems to be a very frequent problem that IS occurring with chevrolet vehicles. see the following site: https://www.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/?fref=nf this appears to be a flaw in the quality of materials used in these vehicles. not only does it take away from the appearance and value of the vehicle, it IS also a safety concern. will the airbag still work properly? if in an accident will there be flying pieces of plastic because of the flawed cracked equipment? this should be something that gm takes care of for its customers 100%.

My son was driving my newly purchased 2010 chevy silverado 1500 Z71 offroad vehicle. he had pulled off the roadway momentarily, and upon pulling back onto the pavement and beginning to get up to speed, the side curtain air bags deployed and the vehicle shut down. he was able to restart it and drove about 50 feet when it shut down again. of course, all the components to the air bags were in the cabin and he jumped out of the truck where he was stopped and was able to look over the situation. He contacted me and since he was only 31/2 miles from our home, I drove to the location. the air bags were hanging, and the passenger seat belt was locked tight. he had his seat belt on and it was hanging. he said he hadn't hit anything, had just pulled back onto the pavement and the bags went off. the truck eventually was able to be restarted and he drove it home. The deployment cracked the head liner and I have had an estimate to repair the damage and fix the air bags, a total of $4800 that my insurance won't cover due to the fact there were no injuries because there was no accident. why are there so many instances of this happening nationwide? now I am out almost $5000 for something beyond my control as the dealership where I purchased it won't help either.

- 10114597This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician of an engine power reduced message on the driver information center after performing the Canada Onstar 4G upgrade. If the concern is present park the vehicle outside and call General Motors Technical Assistance Center.
- 10114470This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicle that may have an OnStar system that has progression tones when pressing the blue or red button. Technician will need to call General Motors Technical Assistance Center with the scan tool data from the OnStar system.
- 10114408This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that are travelling from Canada to the United States. While in the United States they are unable to receive Turn-by-Turn directions. Due to the existing cellular provider not having roaming agreements in areas outside of Canada to support transmitting of the packet data required for Turn-By-Turn feature to operate. The customer has 3 options while traveling through the United Sates. First if the vehicle is equipped with a navigation radio they can request a "Destination Download" to the vehicle. Second if the customer uses the OnStar RemoteLink app they can send the directions to the vehicle. The third option would be to have the vehicle loaded with a "500 phone number" The customer will no longer be able to use their Hands Free Calling minutes when the new 500 phone number is loaded. If a customer chooses to restore Hands Free Calling in the future a new phone number will be assigned to the vehicle; previous phone numbers are not available.
- 10114354This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician that some vehicles may have a Service Engine Soon lamp, engine misfire on cylinder 1, 4, 6, or 7 and/or tick noise. Technician will follow service information diagnosis first. If service information diagnosis does not isolate the cause of this concern perform a cylinder deactivation active fuel management system compression test in service information. If the running compression of the misfiring cylinder stays below 25 Pounds per Square Inch regardless of the active fuel management solenoid being commanded on or off, an active fuel management lifter is mechanically collapsed/stuck or unlocking as soon as the engine is started. Replace all active fuel management lifters, and all plastic lifter guides. Also perform the cylinder deactivation active fuel management Valve Lifter Oil Manifold Diagnosis and Testing in Service Information. If it isolates a concern with the Valve Lifter Oil Manifold, replace it and reevaluate the concern. The active fuel management lifters can also be monitored for proper operation by carefully inspecting the cylinder 1, 4, 6, and 7 rockers and valves while cranking or briefly and safely running the engine with the valve covers removed. If the valve or valves of an active fuel management cylinder stop moving while doing this test, the active fuel management lifter is causing the concern. For 2008-2009 Full Size Truck/SUV or a 2007-2009 Chevrolet Tahoe with the Police Package reprogram the Engine Control Module. On the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8, 2010-2011 Camaro, and 2007-2010 Full Size Trucks with active fuel management, also determine if the active fuel management pressure relief valve shield that is listed in the latest version of 10-06-01-008 has ever been installed. On passenger cars with the LS4 engine, determine if the updated oil pan gasket that is listed in the latest version of 11-06-01-007 has been installed.
- 10114352This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about changing the tire and wheel size on vehicles. General Motors will only support a tire calibration for tires that have been sized, tested and designed for the vehicle in question and its applications. Technician should not use the information that is provided by the antilock braking system tire size selection.
- 10114343This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician the steps needed to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have unwanted or phantom phone calls. Technician will need to determine what type of call the customer is having that is unwanted. The vehicle may receive an incoming call just like any other phone. Typically the customer will hear the phone ringing in the vehicle. This scenario also includes incoming Bluetooth calls. One type of unwanted call can be made if the key pad is faulty the OnStar system will try to make a blue button call for shorted voltage in the circuits. The OnStar module could have an internal fault and produce a "Phone Unavailable" audio message also it may have a Diagnostic Trouble Code U1500 or B1000. Refer to diagnostics for the Diagnostic Trouble Code making sure to follow any applicable Bulletins or Preliminary Information sheets. A "Ready" or "OnStar ready" audio message heard while driving. In some cases it has been found that the customer is inadvertently pressing the ?push to talk? button on the steering wheel controls. On rare occasions, other issues in the steering column or Steering Wheel Control system may induce this concern.
- 10114342This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicle that may have an OnStar system that has progression tones when pressing the blue or red button.
