This condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur.
Honeywell will notify owners and replace the fuel filters free of charge. the recall began on october 18, 2006. owners may contact fram customer service at 1-800-890-2075 (option 1).
On certain minivans, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles with certain model-engine combinations, the windshield wiper motor may fail due to cracked solder joints on the controller circuit board. the windshield wipers could work intermittently or not at all.
If this were to occur during bad weather, driver visibility would be reduced, which could result in a crash.
Dealers will replace the wiper motor circuit board and cover. owner notification began on june 19, 2003. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, GMC at 1-800-462-8782, or oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537.
Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, 2 and 4-wheel drive. solder joints near the wiring harness connector can crack causing the windshield wipers to work intermittently.
This condition can result in inoperative wipers, reducing a driver's visibility, and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Dealers will replace the wiper motor circuit board and cover.
These vehicles were assembled with the throttle cable contacting the dash mat which could bind the throttle. This does not meet with the maximum return times required by federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 124, "accelerator control systems."
Consequence of non-compliance: the engine speed may not return to idle increasing the potential for a vehicle accident.
Dealers will inspect for adequate throttle cable to dash mat clearance, and if there IS insufficient clearance, cut out a portion of the dash mat to provide proper clearance.
The transmission shift-cable lock clip can back out of its installed position resulting in a loss of cable adjustment. When the shift lever IS placed in the "park" position, the "park" indicator light may not illuminate.
The vehicle can move unintentionally if the driver does not notice that the indicator light IS not on and does not apply the parking brake.
Dealers will adjust the shift cable and install a lock clip.
The vehicles have both the supplemental inflatable restraint (sir) label and an engine start label installed on the same side of the sun visor. This does not comply with fmvss no.208, "occupant crash protection."
Consequence of non-compliance: operators could fail to notice and heed the warning label.
The engine start label will be removed from the stowed side of the sun visor and a new engine start label will be installed on the headliner in the sun visor depression. Owners will receive the new label and can install the label themselves or have a dealer install it.
Vehicles fail to conform to fmvss no. 210, "seat belt anchorages." the center rear seat lap belt was improperly routed.
Consequence of non-compliance: the occupant of this seat will not be properly restrained in the event of a vehicle crash.
Instructions for rerouting the center rear seat lap belt will be sent to the vehicle owners. If the owner prefers, they can take their vehicle to their dealer and have it rerouted free of charge by the dealer.
TL* the contact owns a 1995 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the corner of the front driver's side seat bracket had fractured, which caused the seat to rock and become unstable. The dealer (good chevrolet, 325 sw 12TH st, renton, wa 98057, (425) 336-0640) stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unavailable.
Front left corner of drivers seat broke loose and started rocking back and forth. I was sitting parked and reaching in the back seat for item.
My front driver seat brackets broke while driving on the highway. The seat now rocks back and forth.
The front seat bracket on the drivers side pulled through the sheet metal on the left side, causing the seat to rock back.
The rear driver side window became inoperable, followed by the entire door (it won't open at all). Then, the rear passenger side door wouldn't open from the inside, followed by the driver door and recently the passenger door. The driver door, front and rear passenger doors can only be opened by rolling the window down and opening the door from the outside handle. We noticed that around the same time the doors went out, so did the back brake light panels (replacing the bulbs and housing units don't make a difference). The back brake light panels are intermittent and seem to work on occasion (if we hit a bump or something). This IS a severe safety issue and I'm afraid we will have to junk our truck due to it. Are there any other tahoe owners with similar issues? Any recalls related to these issues? This doesn't sound like normal wear and tear related issues to me... *tr
TL* the contact owns a 1995 chevrolet tahoe. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle decelerated and stalled. The vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician stated that the sensor needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
Excessive corrosion on poorly coated/treated brake lines led to a failure to stop at a stop sign and allowed the vehicle to coast into traffic at an intersection on a busy major highway. Use of downshifting, the emergency brake, and shifting into 4WD was the only way a major accident was avoided. The rear drum brakes were not strong enough to compensate for the compromised line in the front. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 1995 chevrolet tahoe. The contact noticed that the fuel tank exhibited a small hole due to a damaged plastic fuel tank cover. The contact was a certified mechanic who placed a patch on the fuel tank himself. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 264,349.
My driver's seat bracket IS broken and unsafe. *kb
The anti-lock brakes on my 1995 chevy tahoe are activating spuriously at slow speeds when braking. This typically happens as I approach a traffic light or stop sign or when parking in a lot. This activation causes an increased stopping distance. It has not resulted in an accident at this time, but I could see how it could. From some online research it appears that it IS a known problem with rusting of the speed sensors. It would seem to me that this IS a manufacturer problem for which a recall should be initiated to fix. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 1995 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the transmission failed on the vehicle. the transmission was replaced with a rebuilt transmission. within a year and a half, the transmission failed again. the mechanic stated that it seemed as if the transmission fluid was not being cooled for some reason. the contact stated that just before the transmission failed, he could smell burning transmission fluid each time. the transmission was replaced again with another rebuilt transmission. within nine years, the transmission was replaced a total of five times every year and a half. the contact had the transmission rebuilt at the cost of $1,700. there were no recalls for the failure. the failure and current mileages were less than 21,838. updated 05/15/09 *bf updated 05/18/09.*jb
The bracket on my front seat has broke it IS underneath seat and IS very hard to get to my seat IS always moving this IS not safe and I should not have to pay for it and it IS not safe. *tr
When trying to come to stop the ABS system will intermittently kick in at low speeds, causing the vehicle to possibly collide with other vehicles. *jb
I have previously corresponded with your agency (odi# 10098003) on 10/29/04. although general motors has recently issued an antilock braking system recall, it includes only certain models after 1999. Be advised earlier year models have experienced the same problem, and repair to those has not been addressed. I have incurred $200.00 in repairs caused by the problem with corrosion described in the recall. My mechanic has disabled the system by removal of the fuse to prevent the activation of the ABS system for no apparent reason. I therefore have a system designed for safety which IS completely and totally useless. And in need of repair. Lets get gm to address this problem in total. *nm
Tread separation exposing steel belt layer while driving at highway speed causing near loss of control of vehicle. *nm
Antilock brake failure. Antilock brakes activate at low speed and unwanted times. *nm
While trying to stop suddenly the antilock brakes activated on a clean surface extending the stopping distance and subsequently running into vehicle stopped. speed 30 miles an hour activated ABS and impact at 15-25 mph. *nm
I drive a 1995 chevy tahoe and almost every time I break the ABS engages at about 10 mph, extending my final stop. I have read that the nhts IS investigating this "feature" on 1999-2002 chevy trucks. from what I've heard from other people and experienced myself, I think this defect IS very common in a much broader manufacturing time period.
While driving down the road with the cruise control off vehicle began to accelerate on its own. hitting the brakes would not stop the engine from revving. Lifting up on acclerator pedal would not slow vehicle. had to turn engine off and restart, this allowed the vechicle to resume normal operation. this first occured on a sharp curve and could have caused an accident. a call to my dealer showed there were no recalls that were outstanding for this vehicle. this IS a dangerous problem and I have read about other complaints. I'm sure nothing will ever be done as it IS probably not cost effective for chevy to fix it. *ak
Vehicle has anti-lock brakes with a spongy brake pedal. Consumer replaced every part of the brakes, except the brake booster and the kelsey-hayes anti-lock brake module. Vehicle has no brake pressure. The pedal goes to the floor. *Ak *sc *jb
While reaching in the back seat for something the driver seat frame broke at the left front bolt. *ak
Consumer hear a noise and within seconds experienced power steering difficulty. *ph the vehicle was towed to the dealer who determined that the power steering unit had fallen off due to metal fatigue of the housing unit. *nm
While driving the driver's side mat became caught under the accelerator pedal which caused the vehicle not to stop. The driver removed the mat and was able to avoid a collision. on 1/8/2004, another driver of the same vehicle applied pressure to the brake pedal while driving downhill but the vehicle accelerated. the driver sustained knee injuries. *nm
Intermittently when turning front end vibrates. There's a tugging effect like if vehicle IS in 4-wheel drive.*ak
While driving 65 mph a fire started under the hood. consumer managed to pull over.*ak
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
As a result of this, and the precedinginvestigation, rq99-003, gm has expanded the population of safety recall 98v-150 (replacement of the windshield wiper control module) to include an additional 1.77 million vehicles.included are various 1994-1997 my M/L vans, s/t trucks and suvs, & c/k trucks and suvs.see attached technical report for details.

Odi has received one (1) complaint alleging that the 2ND row passenger-side seat belt release buckle anchor detached from seat frame during a side impact crash.during the crash, the occupant was thrown from his seat, partially ejected through the rear quarter window of the vehicle.occupant sustained injury.gm has subsequently changed seat belt anchoring design in my 2000. Odi has completed a preliminary investigation and has determined that further information IS needed to determine whether a safety defect exists.

Based on the reports received by odi from consumers, failure of the headlight electrical circuit may occur in the subject vehicles, and may result from repeated adjustment ofthe tilt steering wheel in the subject vehicles.repeated adjustment of the steering wheel position may strain the wiring in the headlight circuit to the point of failure where they are attached to the multi-function switch, resulting in the unanticipated loss of headlights while the vehicle IS in motion.odi has concerns regarding the high rate of warranty repairs for problems potentially associated with the alleged defect in the subject vehicles, with the recognition the each incident of headlight failure represents a condition of vehicle disablement.in addition, the manufacturer's evaluation of the alleged defect has not been received, and this office has interest in the details of the methodologies and results of that assessment.
Odi has received 21 complaints where owners allege that the standard gm factory supplied ac delco battery case failed, resulting in the leakage of sulfuric acid.of the 21 complaint vehicles, six suburban, three tahoes, and one yukon owner(s) complained about a loss of brake fluid from deterioration of the right frontbrake line as a result of sulfuric acid contamination.the remaining 11 complaints pertain primarily to sulfuric acid leakage from the battery case.at least one complainant stated that the replacement battery also failed.several of the complainants note that the leaking acid had come in contact with a wire harness at the frame in the vicinity of the steel brake line.a field inspection by odi indicates that the described harness IS the ABS connection to the right front wheel speed sensor.prior to the battery case failure, there IS usually no warning (short of an underhood inspection), and the ensuring damage (sulfuric acid contamination) IS progressive.of the known battery failures, there may be a temperature correlation, as 60% of the owner complaints came from four states; california, florida, georgia and texas.there IS also a product improvement program and engineering change notice to add 1% silver to the battery's positive side terminall, with the earliest implementation date for this being feb 2, 1998.the effect of this design change IS as yet unknown; further review IS warranted.an ea IS being opened to gather further appropriate information, clarify any defect trends, and to assess the safety implications and risks concerning these failures.
