These records cover every 1994 Chrysler Concorde. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
4 recalls name the 1994 Chrysler Concorde. Newest first.
On certain passenger vehicles, the floor shifter ignition-park interlock may fail and allow the shifter to be moved out of the park position with the key removed. an inoperative interlock may also allow the key to be removed when the shifter has not been placed in the park position.
Either circumstance may result in the vehicle rolling away without warning.
Dealers will install a new load-limiting push rod into the floor shifter lever of the affected vehicles. owner notification began on june 14, 2004. owners should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. the lower control arm attaching brackets can crack due to fatigue and separate from the engine cradle.
If this occurs, the transmission half-shaft could pull out of the transaxle and result in loss of power.
Dealers will reinforce the engine cradle at the point where the lower control arm attaches to it.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles built with 3.5L engines. the fuel injection delivery system can leak fuel from some of the sealing o-rings or from hair line cracks in the thermoset fuel injection rail.
Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire.
Dealers will replace the fuel rail o-rings and reinforce the outlet (passenger) side fuel rail. vehicles showing fuel leakage on the outlet fuel rail must have the outlet rail replaced which includes changing the upper and lower injector o-rings. however, if a vehicle IS leaking fuel from the o-rings or from a cracked fuel line, the vehicle should be taken into a dealer to have this repaired as soon as possible.
The right steering tie rod can rub through the automatic transmission wiring harness causing a short circuit which results in electrical system malfunctions including engine stalling and an inoperative park/starter interlock system.
Electrical system malfunction causing stalling while in motion or an inoperative park/starter interlock system, which allows engine start while the transmission IS not in the park position, may result in an accident.
Install a revised wiring harness bracket and a plastic convoluted sleeve to protect the transmission wiring harness.

The o rings were changed on the injector twice since the consumer purchased it in april of 2012. updated 10/15/2015*js
TL* - the contact called regarding the 1994 chrslyer concorde. the contact left the vehicle warming up, and when he came back to the vehicle approximately 10 minutes later smoke coming from under the hood. the contact opened the hood and there were flames. the contact put the fire out. there were no injuries. the contact was not sure if the vehicle was totaled. the failure mileage was 181,000. the contact took pictures of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to a repair shop. the manufacturer denied the claim for reimbursement. the contact stated that there was a recall in 1999 and that the recall work was done. the recall was for the fuel injection system.
Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle had problems starting, but the check engine light did not illuminate. Also, a rattling sound emanated from under the vehicle when the engine was running. At times the cruise control indicator illuminated without being engaged.
I have a 1994 chrysler concorde which has air-bag problem which I was told would cost me $500 to replace a clock spring by bob baker in carlsbad, ca. I refused stating that daimler chrysler should treat that as a drive train defect and replace it. I also had a failure of the steering and paid for that out of pocket.*jb
Dt*: the contact stated one year ago there was a fuel leak; the dealership performed recall # 98v184000 for the fuel injection system. the o-rings were replaced. The leak did not cease and the vehicle was taken back to the dealership 1 year later. the passenger side fuel rail was replaced under this same recall. the fuel was still leaking and the dealership determined the driver side fuel rail needs replacing; this component IS not part of the recall.
Was driving my car and smelled a strong gas odor. I took it to a garage and they showed me gas leaking from the fuel rail. No repairs have been made as I need the cash first. *jb
Our vehicle has stalled on numerous occasions while in motion. This IS unsafe, and could possibly result in an accident, since when the vehicle stalls there IS no power steering after the vehicle stalls. sometimes the rpms drop down to near zero and the cruise control light comes on before it stalls. occasionally the vehicle does not completely stall, and the engine recovers, resulting in a strong jerk. Also occasionally the car just jerks noticeably to strongly while driving. this has been going on noticeably for a few months, and we have had numerous repairs to our vehicle that have (potentially falsely) been diagnosed. None of these repairs have seemed to affect the stalling and jerking problems. the date given IS the date of our most serious stalling events. It stalled several times that day while I was driving. *nm
The consumer was having difficulty getting a recall fixed on his vehicle. *jb the consumer was told the only way the recall could be fixed IS if the vehicle was brought in before 7:00am. recall campaign#04v021000. *sc *jb
Dealership told consumer that they would not perform the recall repairs for the floor shifter on the 1994 chrysler concorde unless the consumer brought the vehicle in before 7am.*mr *jb
Fuel IS leaking out of the gas tank. Consumer IS concerned that a fire could occur. Also, brakes are making noise and causing the wheels to shake, making it difficult to control the vehicle .*ak
Chrysler concorde 1994, 3.5L V6. bought new. may 1999, found two long narrow pieces of plastic material in the footwell behind the driver?s seat. chrysler service couldn't identify. 6 sept. 2000, chrysler dealership executed recall # 883, replaced slides which had broken away from driver?s seat. april 2004, lost horizontal motion of driver?s seat adjustment. found the slides were assembled so tightly they destroyed the screw actuators due to overload. informed chrysler dealership, they say they did retrofit so now chrysler?s problem. informed chrysler, they say take it to dealership. may 2004, my car now has a driver?s seat with no horizontal adjustment available. found another broken off seat slide liner behind passenger?s seat. what can I do? *nm

My 1994 chrysler concord 3.3 (flex fuel) liter shuts down while in operation. my heater only blows hot air, fuel can be smelled while vechile IS running, mil code 12,11,41 have been displayed, fog or mist coats the inside windows everyday, the front end of my car feel like it's going to rip loose. I've installed a new fuel filter, fuel pump, had my air conditioner recharged, new catalytic converter installed, new O2 sensers, fuel injection cleaning service performed, transmission replaced, differential replaced, outer tie rods replaced and have kept up on regularly scheduled oil and fluid changes.my vechile IS not safe to drive,me and my family are in harms way from the time we get in the car until we all exit the vechile. I inspected under the hood of my car and found a large puddle of gasoline gathered on top of my front differentail housing.i called dwayne lanes dodge of everett and was told that there has never been any recalls for my car. my car still over heats, stalls, shutsdown while in motion, smells of gasoline, surges, and the rack and pinnion slide out of the lame rubber gaskets that mount them to the frame of my car whenever I turn a corner. *la
This 1994 chrysler has had constant problems, most recent being the windhsield wipers flew up and stuck while on the freeway in the rain going 55mph. Exhaust smells bad, starter IS bad, air conditioner ticks when turned off for a few seconds. As a newly single mother of 4 boys looking for employment that I can get to and from reliably, so I can take care of my family myself eventually, the last thing I ever should have to worry about IS a car that IS only 10 years old. Especially since chrysler IS showing all the beatiful new chrysler products I will never be able to have. I love my car, but I am more than disappointed in what I still have $3,000 left to pay on a used car.
I have had more problems with this chrysler than any car I have driven. It IS not yet ten years old, but I have had brake work done at least three times totaling 1500.00+dollars. My air conditioning fails every year. The bars on the outside of the car have begun to peel away from the main body. Three inside door handles have broken off from the inside, and I dont even use my rear doors. This will cost me 150.00 per door without including labor. My car IS in the shop now because the mechanic IS checking it for transmission failure. The rear trans. Mount and mount bushings have been replaced and need to be replaced again. The alignment IS off because it needs new lower control arms now. Without the transmission failing this IS 900.00 worth of work. I have never been able to get anything from chrysler except an emailed, "I'M sorry...thank you for buying chrysler" if I ever get this car out of the shop, I will not buy chrysler again. I have spent thousands of dollars on various repairs on this car and it IS only 9 years old!
Cooling system constant overheat. I have replaced the water pump, thermo stat, radiator, over flow tank cap, and hoses with no avail!? :-( someone please help. The heads are new, and so are the head gaskets. I'm not losing water, and there isn't oil in my water and vice verse. So that would lead me to believe that the engine IS still solid? I still have full power until it redlines and shuts itself off!:-( please send any info that could help!
While driving at any speed with air conditioner or heater on there was a strong odor of gasoline inside of the vehicle. also, there was a strong gasoline odor when standing outside the vehicle. dealer examined the vehicle, and determined that a new fuel rail was needed.*ak
While driving down a hill cruise control light illuminated. When this occurred vehicle accelerated to 70 mph. In an attempt to decrease speed consumer depressed the brake pedal several times in drive then in neutral , but the attempt failed. As a result vehicle went over a guard rail, and rolled down a mountain. consumer sustained a concussion and injuries to several body parts. Vehicle was totaled. *Ak
While driving cruise control engaged without warning, resulting in a collision. consumer sustained a concussion. *Ak
The tie-rods in my 1994 chrysler concorde have failed repeatedly since I purchased this vehicle, causing excessive vibrations as well as depleted steering ability. additionally my steering wheel IS approx. 45 degrees offset from center. my dealer replaced my tie-rods at approx. 150,000 miles under warranty purchased with my vehicle. my vehicle IS at 173,680 miles now and the tie-rods are once again in need of replacement. I am concerned these parts are deffective due to excessive force put on them because of a severe vibration in the steering column. it has been less than six months since the tie rods were last replaced, and even after they were replaced the last time my dealership was unable to return the steering wheel to the center position for forward travel.
The consumer complained about a headlamp problem. both plastic lenses became yellow. light provision was minimum. the driver used the high beams to be able to see at night. *ak even with the high beams on the actual light output was less than that of the normal low beams. the consumer was told by the dealer that this IS a common problem. *nm
Brackets supporting back of driver's seat have broken in half allowing seat back to fail to support driver.*ak
Transmission failed without warning. *Ak
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On september 5, 2004, mr. Robert galenty of iselin, nj, petitioned the agency to conduct defect investigations of certain model year (my) 1993-1997 vehicles produced by daimlerchrysler corporation.his petition identified three issues of concern: 1) fuel leaking from the fuel injector rails; 2) brake fluid contamination resulting in brake failure; and 3) susceptibility of the vehicle frame to damage while the vehicle IS being towed.mr. Galanty alleged that his 1996 dodge intrepid had each of these three problems.concerning fuel rail leakage, daimlerchrysler commenced a recall (98v-184) of approximately 722,600 vehicles to address engine fuel rail leaks that could lead to a fire, including those vehicles cited in the petition and the petitioner's 1996 dodge intrepid.on october 7, 1998, nhtsa opened a recall query investigation (rq98-018) to evaluate the adequacy of the recall remedy.that investigation was closed on july 8, 2002 without requiring further action by daimlerchrysler.very recently, on june 9, 2004, nhtsa denied a petition (rp04-001) to reopen rq98-018 after finding that there was no new information that would indicate any basis for reopening it.this IS still the current position of nhtsa on this issue.concerning brake fluid contamination and frame alignment, a review of nhtsa's database shows no other complaints on either one of these issues on the vehicles cited in the petition.
The manufacturer reports above are based on daimlerchrysler?s (dc) analysis of model year (my) 1998 (population = 356,384) and 1999 (population = 486,948) ja, JX and lh family subject vehicle data (earlier mys excluded).the population number includes all mys.the precise number of duplicates between odi and dc reports cannot be determined due to missing or incomplete information.the fatality incident involved an elderly person who attempted to stop a roll away vehicle and received fatal injuries.odi also gathered information on my 1997-99 prowler vehicles in this investigation. The prowler vehicles were manufactured with a different design shifter mechanism (the shift lever IS shorter).there are no complaints of prowler interlock failure in odi?s database, and dc has received no reports either.the prowler IS excluded from the recall scope.the investigation involved a condition where the interlock system could fail (or be made inoperative by the operator) during vehicle use, possibly inadvertently.the interlock system IS required under fmvss 114.with the transmission in the park position and the ignition key off, the combined action of pressing the shift button and pulling the shift lever rearward may result in the operator overcoming the interlock system and cause the mechanical linkage of the system to disconnect.when this occurs, there IS no overt indication to an operator that the system IS defeated, and an increased risk of vehicle roll-away exists.under recall 04v021, dc will replace damaged shift mechanisms, and will install on all vehicles a device which inhibits the operator?s ability to overcome the interlock and defeat the system.beginning with my 2000, dc incorporated a brake and transmission shifter interlock (btsi) system into the subject vehicles.introduction of btsi involved design changes to the shift mechanism, one of which resulted in reduced mechanical advantage (rma) of the shift button.the rma shifter requires increased forces to overcome the interlock system, making the shifter less susceptible to damage.
Mr. Larry a. Sackey submitted a petition to the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) by letter dated april 18, 2003, requesting that nhtsafurther investigate the defective collapsible steering shaft system on 1987-1995 vehicles manufactured by the daimlerchrysler corporation.in part because of 49 cfr ? 30120(G), nhtsa has decided to limit the scope of the petition vehicles to 1993-1995 models, excluding the 1993 jeep grand cherokee and 1994-1995 dodge RAM series trucks that were recalled (93v210 & 96v230) for steering column failure.if the analysis of these vehicles had identified a potential problem, the scope could have been expanded in an investigation.a review of odi's data base shows no recent complaints and a lack of a complaint trend concerning the subject issue on the subject vehicles as a whole or by individual models.therefore, the petition IS denied.for details, see federal register notice volume 68, no. 130, july 8, 2003.

Since opening the preliminary evaluation (pe), odi has received 6 additional complaints.during the pe it was determined multiple failure modes are involved in this matter.the warranty claim rate IS high for a steering system concern.the issues reported involve premature wear out at the rack and pinion interface with the inner tie rod end(s), binding and sticking of the steering gear, cracked or broken tie rod ends, sheared rack and pinion assembly bolts, and wear out of the rack and pinion mount bushings.many of the complainants mention steering wonder and loose steering.three of the most recent complaints allege a complete loss of steering due to sheared bolts.odi IS upgrading this pe in order to perform a thorough technical analysis of the various system failure allegations and to quantify the effect that these failures have on vehicle control.
There is no summary currently available
Alleged that the rear suspension trailing and/or its attachment bolt may fail, posing a risk of loss of vehicle control and loss of rear service brake operation
Nitrile rubber seals used in the fuel rail assemblies of the subject vehicles at the supply, return, and crossover tube fittings, and at the pressure regulator fail, resulting in fuel leakage in the engine compartment.also, the outlet (right) fuel rail may leak from cracks at certain mold gates in the thermoset rail material.chrysler will recall the subject vehicles and stated that it intends to replace the o-rings with fluorocarbon o-ring having greater heat resistance capability and attach reinforcements to the rail in the areas where the cracking concern has been known to occur most frequently.rails that are already cracked will be replaced by new, reinforced rails.
A safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if waarranted by the circumstances.an engineering analysis clossing report IS included in the public file.
