5 recalls name the 1999 Chrysler Concorde. Newest first.
Sabersport IS recalling 16,270 combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies of various part numbers sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles. these headlamps fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment." these lamps do not contain…
Decreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash.
Sabersport will notify owners and offer a full refund for the noncompliant combination lamps. the safety recall began on may 11, 2009. owners may contact sabersport at 1-909-598-7589.
On certain passenger vehicles, the floor shifter ignition-park interlock may fail and allow the shifter to be moved out of the park position with the key removed. an inoperative interlock may also allow the key to be removed when the shifter has not been placed in the park position.
Either circumstance may result in the vehicle rolling away without warning.
Dealers will install a new load-limiting push rod into the floor shifter lever of the affected vehicles. owner notification began on june 14, 2004. owners should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
On certain passenger vehicles, seat back recliner bolt breakage can occur resulting in the seat back reclining unexpectedly.
If the seat back unexpectedly reclines while the car IS being driven, it could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the recliner bolts. owner notification began on april 23, 2003. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

Dealers will replace the seat belt retractor. owner notification began august 20, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. the seat belt shoulder height adjustable turning loop (atl) top mounting bolt was inadequately manufactured.
The affected mounting bolts may not withstand sufficient force to function properly in certain impact situations, increasing the risk of injury to a belted occupant.
Dealers will replace the shoulder belt height adjuster mounting bolts.
The contact owned a 1999 Chrysler Concorde. The contact stated while in a parking lot as he placed the vehicle into Drive, the vehicle revved and accelerated, and the contact had not depressed the accelerator pedal. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle crossed the parking lot, jumped the curb and climbed a small hill and came safely to a stop. The police were called but no report was written. The contact injured his lower back but did not seek medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and has not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The contact owns a 1999 Chrysler Concorde. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a gasoline odor detected while the vehicle was parked. There was no visible fuel leak on the ground when the contact inspected the vehicle. The dealer was informed of the failure but informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the Vin was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 248,000.
Takata recall car caught fire in the front of the car (defrost vents) I went inside the store while my car was parked on the street when I came bac my car was smoking. Fire department said it was caused by fan motor fail.
There IS a fuel leak at the connection of fuel rail and fuel line 2.7L engine vehicle was staionary cold or hot motor 6/ 2/ 2017 . There was a recall early 2000 year for same problems .
Since 2010, the car has had many electrical issues that have resulted in over 5,000 dollars in repairs and the problems continue to persist. in 2010, the car began having intermittent lighting issues and failure of the trunk latch opening mechanism. in aug 2010, the bcm was fixed/replaced. since then, the a/c has become the problem that has led to thousand of dollars of repairs. the problem IS that intermittently the a/c will not respond to changes in the temperature controls and only 180 degree air comes out. the dealer has replaced almost all mechanical parts of the a/c and the electrical controls with the exception of the bcm. the problem continues and now the so call new bcm IS no longer under warranty. *tr
I found five recalls on the safecar.gov site, yet I have never been notified of any of them. in approximately 2000-2001, I had a failure of the driver's seat, while trying to move the seat back for more room, where the back fell all the way down to a reclining position. I was not able to make it stay up. the dealer at the tme repaired it at an approximate cost of $1,100.00. sometime later, I read in the newspaper later about a recall for the seats, and took it to joliet dodge, joliet, il, who IS now out of business. They refused to do anything, telling me I had already had it fixed, and refusing to reimburse me for the cost to repair. fast forward to july 2014. when trying to move the seat back by using the lever for that and pushing back with my body, the seat back totally failed again. It goes all the way down, and will not stay up. because of the age of the car, and the fact that I am a retiree on only social security for a very limited income, and not being able to afford the cost to repair, I did a home made fix by putting my large plastic cooler on the floor in back of the seat to hold it up. I am lucky this happened while the car was in park, not moving, else I might have had a terrible accident. The first time it occurred, I was driving, but had no accident.
The molding between the hood and the windshield flew off as I was driving in the freeway. I was driving like I normally do ( approx. 65Mph), when fwy IS clear of cars; this IS not reason enough for this car part to fly off. luckily, fwy was clear, if not, I could of had an accident since it affected my visibility while driving. once I replace this, I wonder if next time... Will I have an accident? How to ask they install it so it doesn't fly off? Dealer says they must install it per manufacturer requirements but the normal way it comes from manufacturer doesn't work cause it eventually flies off. I noticed there are countless complaints regarding same issue with nhtsa. how many complaints are necessary for it to be recalled? *tr
Yesterday I had to go to the hospital because the trunk lid fell on my neck when I was unloading my trunk. this car has an electrical trunk that opens and the trunk also, has a spring air rod that controls the hold of the open trunk. I know this failed because the trunk just lost its hold all of a sudden and landed on my neck. as I tried to lift it from above me (its very heavy- big trunk), my left hand index finger broke and my left arm and hand are in pain. not to mention, the severe pain I am undergoing with my neck. I also bled a lot and immediately went to the emergency room. I believe this can be a manufacturing defect due to the excessive weight of this trunk door and the device being relied on for the control of trunk. *tr
I was parking on a parking lot and lot had a structured small post on the driver side; due to visibility that the vehicle lamp omitted to light properly, I damaged the front right corner bumper. I have noticed that the corner lamp assemblies have a problem with the reflectors. this lamp doesn't have the required amber side reflectors don't work well cause I can barely see (not like my other cars). there IS a recall set already for part number cs114-u0bj2 which IS a combination corner and lamp assembly for this vehicle. I am asked to contact sabersport who IS doing the recall (recall id#09e012000 exterior lighting); however, their number IS disconnected and their online contact number IS a wrong number. at this point, I don't think its right that I have to pay for these repairs. even upon repairs,i need the vehicle with correct lamp assembly so it doesn't happen again. next time, could be a worse accident. TL* the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde. The contact stated that the passenger and driver side door handle broke; as a result she was unable to unlock the doors in order to exit the vehicle. The contact also mentioned that the automatic locks and interior lights would turn on and off. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who decided to glue the handle back on as a temporary remedy. The remedy failed to repaired the problem since the handle came off completely. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 85,000.
TL* the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde LX. The contact was driving 40 mph when a clicking noise was heard from under the hood. The contact also mentioned that the check engine warning light was illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the mechanic advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileages were 110,727.
TL* the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph when the windshield wiper cowl, a part which covered the base of the windshield washer, ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. the failure mileage was unavailable.
I have a 1999 chrysler concorde with a timing chain problem....this IS my second concorde after the other got stolen....and after I paid $3800 to repair the timing chain on it....can anything be done of this problem....i cant afford it again??? *Tr
Blinking engine light, smoke from exhaust, all mechanics state that I need a new engine, but no shaking, rides smooth, unsure why it smokes, I have used sealant, check gaskets and no change.. I bought the car in 2008 from a private owner and it passed smog, shortly after the engine light came on and it went downhill from there diagnosed engine, repaired oil pan. *Tr
TL* the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde. The contact stated while driving at approximate speeds of 55 mph, the front drivers seat would recline backward without driver intent due to a bolt snapping. The contact received notification of a recall (nhtsa campaign ID number: 03v035000: seats: front assembly: recliner) and took the vehicle to the dealer for repairs. The dealer advised the recall repair was previously performed on the vehicle and the manufacturer would not cover the cost of a second repair. The failure persisted. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 58,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde lxi. While driving approximately 70 mph on normal road conditions there was pressure applied to the accelerator pedal and unexpectedly, the speed rate reduced to 20 mph. The contact was able to drive on the emergency lane with caution and suddenly, the speed rate increased to 70 mph. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing; however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The identical failures occurred on four separate occasions. An independent mechanic on two separate occasions reset the crank shaft sensor code. The failure continued to occur after the repair was made in addition, the vehicle stalled intermittently. The contact had concerns of the safety risk involved. the failure and current mileages were 121,000.
2.7 engine failure due to oil sludge on 1999 chrysler concorde LX. *Tr
When I was in my car one day, I parked and tried to get out. The door stuck and I think this was because the rubber stuck to the door.. It took me fifteen minute to get out of my car. I had to lift up the bottom of the now detached inside plastic frame in order to get out of my car. In about a year< the same thing happened to the passenger door> my daughter tried to get out of the vehicle and the door got stuck... She pushed the door and the plastic inside frame detached from the door the same way the driver's side did. now we must lift that door too.. This happens almost all of the time and if there IS an emergency and we have to get out, this IS a huge concern. If there was a fire or crash.. I met someone with the exact year and model care and they have the same problem... Please help me! *Tr
Friday, I was driving to work, the car felt like it was going to stall out, I luckily made it to work. It made an awful sound like something broke. Later that day, I took it to a nearby garage, the mechanic said the engine had blown & his suggestion was to take it to a junk yard & hope for a couple hundred dollars, other wise, it would cost 2000.00 for a remanufactured motor & 1000.00 for labor to install the motor. He also stated that the chrysler 2.7 motor was notorious for broken timing belts & the engines locking up. *Tr
Another chrysler 2.7 litre catastrophic engine failure timing chains failure demolished engine at highway speed. *Tr
While driving on the highway; the engine of my 1999 chrysler concorde, had a catastrophic failure. there was an incident involving the timing chain that led to a great many failures, top so being the crankshaft, as I was told by the dealership I had evaluate the problem. the engine IS the 2.7L DOHC V6 that comes stock with the 1999 concorde. I changed my oil regularly and never expected the motor to fail at just over 42K miles. I was 400 miles from home when this occurred, and had to wait in a shopping center for several hours until we could arrange a way home for myself, my wife, and at the time my 5 month old daughter. *Tr
Tl*the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde. while driving approximately 30 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the engine. the vehicle stalled intermittently and the check oil warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the warning indicator remained lit until the engine was turned off. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and inspected by an independent mechanic. the technician stated that oil sludge caused the engine failure and it was recommended that the engine be replaced. the vehicle IS currently inoperable and has not been repaired. updated 3/5/09 *cn updated 03/10/09. *Jb
Tl*the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle shut off and stopped in the middle of the freeway. the contact was able to maintain control of the vehicle, although the brakes and power steering failed. someone had to assist her with steering the vehicle to the side of the road. the police was called and the vehicle was towed to the auto repair shop. there had not been any engine failure prior to this incident. the auto shop stated that engine sludge coated the engine. it would cost $5,000 to replace the engine. the failure mileage was 60,000. updated 2/23/09 *cn the passenger seat belt was difficult to unfasten and the rear passenger door had to be opened from the outside. Updated 02/26/09. *Jb
The engine in our 1999 chrysler concord blew at only 38000 miles, it was the famous flawed 2.7, chrysler refused to replace the engine - told us we must not have changed the oil often enough! my husband IS a district supervisor for a oil change chain here in michigan, the oil was changed religiously with synthetic blend, an oil far superior to the basic factory recommendations. we replaced the engine ourselves at our own expense with a 3.2 at a cost of $3000. chrysler refuses to admit any defects in their 2.7 motors, yet other companies whom used this engine have voluntarily recalled it! *Tr
Here IS a copy of our sales ticket that explains all of the updates that we perform on this engine. hopefully this will help you. if you have any further questions feel free to contact our customer service department at 1-800-827-7450. --oil starvation IS a problem with this engine, so jasper installs the newest design oil line which has a larger diameter pipe to allow more oil flow and better lubrication. The newer design pipe has one gentle bend opposed to the original which had two 90-degree bends which tends to restrict to oil flow. --to prevent bearing failure jasper installs aluminum rod & main bearings instead of tri-metal bearings. the aluminum bearings conform to the mating surface more completely, which provides more exact clearances. the aluminum bearings are also more corrosion resistant. the original tri-metal bearings were prone to not conform well, which led to dirt and debris becoming lodged in the bearing due to excessive bearing clearances. --water pumps on this engine have been known to leak or fail. one of the issues leading up to this was due to the timing chain tensioner. It would apply more tension to the chain then was needed, causing stress on the water pump. jasper installs a later design tensioner, which applies the right amount of tension on the timing chain and reduces the stress on the water pump. Jasper installs the newest design oe water pump & water pump gasket which will seal to the block better than the original oe design. --with the use of an mls gasket, the standards for machining on the head and block have been increased to insure that the gasket can seal properly. this IS to help prevent coolant from entering the oil cavities causing damage to the engine. ----jasper does not install the cam gear balancer due to a bulletin from chrysler effective 12/14/01 stating it IS not needed and not serviced from this time forward. --Do not remove from core and install on jasper's engine. --live run tested oil. *tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The manufacturer reports above are based on daimlerchrysler?s (dc) analysis of model year (my) 1998 (population = 356,384) and 1999 (population = 486,948) ja, JX and lh family subject vehicle data (earlier mys excluded).the population number includes all mys.the precise number of duplicates between odi and dc reports cannot be determined due to missing or incomplete information.the fatality incident involved an elderly person who attempted to stop a roll away vehicle and received fatal injuries.odi also gathered information on my 1997-99 prowler vehicles in this investigation. The prowler vehicles were manufactured with a different design shifter mechanism (the shift lever IS shorter).there are no complaints of prowler interlock failure in odi?s database, and dc has received no reports either.the prowler IS excluded from the recall scope.the investigation involved a condition where the interlock system could fail (or be made inoperative by the operator) during vehicle use, possibly inadvertently.the interlock system IS required under fmvss 114.with the transmission in the park position and the ignition key off, the combined action of pressing the shift button and pulling the shift lever rearward may result in the operator overcoming the interlock system and cause the mechanical linkage of the system to disconnect.when this occurs, there IS no overt indication to an operator that the system IS defeated, and an increased risk of vehicle roll-away exists.under recall 04v021, dc will replace damaged shift mechanisms, and will install on all vehicles a device which inhibits the operator?s ability to overcome the interlock and defeat the system.beginning with my 2000, dc incorporated a brake and transmission shifter interlock (btsi) system into the subject vehicles.introduction of btsi involved design changes to the shift mechanism, one of which resulted in reduced mechanical advantage (rma) of the shift button.the rma shifter requires increased forces to overcome the interlock system, making the shifter less susceptible to damage.
Based on the low failure rate, the absence of failures over the past year, the absence of injuries, and odi's field investigation of incident vehicles, a safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances. See attached report for additional information.
