Ive been informed of a lot of recalls on my car and would like them fixed due to safety issues.
I read on the internet under 2000 chrysler concorde that there IS a master brake issue if you don't have ABS brakes. It affects the stopping and the brakes constantly rub. That IS the main concern I have with my car.
Hello, on friday, february 19TH, I experienced a catastrophic failure of a yokohama iceguardig20 tire. the entire inside side wall of the tire completely failed. please see attached document named "yoko tire failure - 2016feb26.pdf" for details of the event a photos. the other attached documents contain information on the cost to replace the failed tire. I submitted correspondence to yokohama on february 26TH, 2016. they have not responded in 60 days so I am submitted to the nhtsa to lodge a complaint. the yokohama website clearly indicates there IS a five year warranty. however, they did not respond to date. I am quite disappointed with their lack of response. any assistance with this issue would be appreciated. I never experienced anything like this before in nearly thirty years of my driving experience. my engineering background strongly makes me believe there IS an issue with these tires. sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr
Turn lights off car cuts off.
I was leaving work when the incident occurred and my life literally flashed in front of my eyes . I entered the freeway via the merge lane at approximately 30 mph. When I entered the freeway I slowly increased my speed to 50 mph. After approximately 3 miles on the freeway the engine made a loud knocking noise and shut off. At this point I lost all control of the vehicle, I could not steer. My vehicle scrapped off the jersey barrier and I pushed the brake pedal but the vehicle would not stop. I then pushed on the brake pedal as hard as I could causing me to skid sideways in the middle of the road. There was a vehicle behind me that had to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting me and in doing so he collided with another vehicle. I came to a stop in the middle of the road facing the wrong way on the road. Luckily there were no injuries but this could have been way worst. I took the vehicle to a mechanic who advised me that the engine failed due to sludge buildup in the engine. He also stated that this IS a common problem with this engine made by chrysler. I have changed my oil every 3K miles and I have paperwork to prove this. I cannot for life of me understand how a knowing person of this problem can turn an eye to it without doing something about it. This situation could have gone the other way, can we please do something before it does. What if it happens to your father or your mother or your kids. There has to be something we can do here! thanks *tr
As I was driving my air ag was released. In doing so my arm was hurt due to the air being developed. prior to that happening anytime I would park my car and set the alarm it wouldn't lock or unlock then it would reset my radio and light would start to flicker. *tr
I was wondering if there was any kind of recall or investigation on my vehicle headlight lens I have original lenses and they are clouded over leaving night visibility very low thank you *tr
There was no accident involved. all of a sudden the air bag light went on and it started to ding on and off. took to mechanic who took to chrysler dealer who said there was a recall back in 2000 regarding the fact that there was a recall concerning the seat belts affecting the air bag light. no one could find anything wrong with the car except the air bag light continues to go on even when the seat belts are not connected. it IS really bothering me as I drive and this noise keeps binging and the light stays on. what IS the solution??? *tr
The lifts on the hood and trunk have both been replaced because of falling. The door and headlight trim IS going to have to be replaced because it has pulled completely off the doors and headlights because of shrinkage, then while driving down the interstate at 65 miles an hour the hood molding came flying off and went over the top of the car and landed in the ditch. These are defects which I feel chrysler should replace. *tr
I bought my car brand new from the dodge/chrysler dealership. I was driving when I heard a ticking coming from the engine, I used my cellphone to call my mechanic who stated that it was probably my timing chain but that if it's just ticking it's not imminent danger of breaking. I arrived to work and upon leaving work, I went to start the car and it would not start. it made a grinding sound, I saw smoke come from under the hood. I called a tow truck company and had the car towed to my mechanic. My mechanic stated that the engine was blown and would cost $6000.00 to replace it. I had the car towed home ( 2 towing fees at this point at $90.00 each). I called a mechanic that specializes in intrepid/concorde repairs and he advised that I should tow the car to him as it might not be completely blown. another towing fee ($90.00) and another mechanics opinion, yes the engine was completely blown and this mechanic stated the reason for failure was oil sludge. I asked what I could have done to prevent that from happening and he stated that there was nothing I could do, it's a known defect in that particular engine and that if I were to have it repaired, it was his advice to not put a 2.7L engine back in, but rather a 3.2 or 3.5L engine in as they did not have the defect of the 2.7L. I now have a paper weight in my driveway as I do not have the funds to repair the vehicle. I had to buy another car and now have a car payment to a car that I don't even really like much. I would like to know why I was sold a vehicle with a known engine defect and why chrysler won't do anything about it. *tr
Hello, I would just like to take the time to explain the situation with my year 2000 chrysler concorde LX. I am a college student and I purchased this car roughly a year and a half ago with 41,000 miles on it. The carfax vehicle report stated that the car had perfect routine maintenance and it was owned by one female owner over the course of its life. After owning the car I now have about 65,000 miles on this car, with perfect routine maintenance. I am experiencing the symptoms of the engine sludge problem that these 2.7 liter engines experience. My rpms are dropping to low revs at idle, and my mechanic says that the engine will eventually seize while driving. At this point I no longer drive the vehicle and leave it stationary in my parents garage. To replace these engines they cost around 4,000 - 10,000 dollars. That IS more than the price of the vehicle itself. There IS clearly a defect in the engine design, and any quick google search can show this. There are hundreds upon thousands of complaints online in public forums and engine oriented websites. I only hope that this organization investigates this situation, and takes it seriously. *Tr
I have been having problems with my door locks for quite some time now. When I press the button to lock or unlock it will not work and it makes a loud noise.i have to unlock the doors by hand. I have checked with my mechanic and he tells me its probably the motor and it would have to be replaced in each door at about $150.00 each door. I bought my car new in 2000 I love the car but hate this problem.
The motor on a my 2.7L 2000 chrysler contour rod bearings went out ruining the motor. The repair would be 3,000. I did not know it was a known incident with these motors that chrysler uses in this model. The motor went out on a camping trip 180 miles away from home. I left the car at a shop and am currently donating it to charity. *Tr
Engine quit on well maintained 2000 chrysler concorde (2.7 liter engine) w/ 80K miles and would not restart. Timing chain/belt broken. Requires entire engine swap to fix, according to repair shop. *Tr
Complete engine failure, loud knocking. *Tr
I have a 2000 chrysler concorde with a 2.7 engine, the vehicle IS in perfect condion and the motor just started knocking, this IS a common problem I'm told, I have a 114000 miles but it looks like 30000 miles.. Now I can't find a 2.7 DOHC motor for it because of all the problems with this engine, the prices are $3500.00 for a new block installed....dodge and chrysler know they have a problem with it why isn't something being done? I need help
Our 2000 chrysler concord shot out a parking spot when my husband started the car. Toyota isn't the only vehicle with this fault. children nearby were just missed. The car brushed one teen. we never had any previous issues like this. The car sped out of the space, hit another car in the next section over which hit another car in the next section over- not next to- but parking sections apart. All three vehicles were significantly damaged. daimlerchrysler denied any malfunction. We had financial loss as a result of this incident.*tr
TL* the contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. While turning into a parking lot there was a loud noise, and then the steering wheel locked. She then tried to pull to the side of the road, but the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to a local repair facility, and the mechanic concluded that the failure was caused by engine sludge. No repairs were made. She filed a report with the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The failure and current mileages were unknown.
I own a 2000 chrysler concorde. I have a problem that the interior lights on the door and inside come on for no apparent reason. I have taken the vehicle to shops to find the problem but the lights never come on. Frustrating IS putting it lightly. The lights have come on while the vehicle IS powered off and has drained my car battery. I have been dealing with this problem for quite some time. This on and off with the interior lights has been going on now for three + years. Good thing I own another vehicle that IS not a chrysler product. *Tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. The contact stated that while driving 39 mph the vehicle stalled without any prior warnings.as a consequence her risk for vehicle crash was increased. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility and a mechanic concluded that engine failure resulted from uncontrollable sludge build-up. As of current date the engine has not been replaced. The failure mileage was 47000. The current mileage was unknown.
My wife was driving our 2000 chrysler concorde LX with the 2.7 liter engine when the engine blow up luckily there was no one in front or back of her when this happened. *Tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. the contact stated that the engine failed and the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. the vehicle made a knocking sound when it was restarted. the contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and was informed that a new engine was needed due to sludge build-up. the repair would cost between $4,000 to $6,000. the dealer would not honor the warranty on the vehicle because she IS the second owner. the speed was unknown. the failure mileage was 83,520.
Hi my 200 chrysler concord , stalled in the middle of highway , mechanic said overheating /sludge in engine caused it to fail , almost got hit on us route !&9 .almost cost me my life in rush hour traffic in the middle lane . my mechanic said this car IS the worst engine he,s seen in his 25 years of working on cars . I today contacted chrysler they wont do nothing for my car said out of warranty . I've done some research on net and found class action suits being filed all over against chrysler for this 2.7 engine failure . *Tr
My 2000 chrysler concorde has a defect with the 2.7 DOHC V6 engine due to oil sludge . My motor just failed due to oil sludge due to the defect . Oil changes every 2500-3000 miles . *tr
I have a 2000 concord, kept in mint condition, oil changed every 3 to 3.5K just turned 80K. While picking my fiancee from the hospital on the x wat, I heard a click kind of sound from the engine, I exited the ramp and pulled over, the engine W3AS making a squeaking sound, all equipment on this car IS of oem. We had it towed home . It appeared that the oil sending unit was squirting oil, I was told that I needed an engine replacement. Contacted chrysler corp.via email, was told that it was out of warrently. The car IS sitting, I can barely keep up my house payments, yet an engine. Have to worry about borrowing cars from friends to get to work. I have taken extra care of this car so it would last me. All I ask IS for a little help. I am in despair. *Tr
