  this weekend my wife was driving my kids home from out of town and was on the highway when she got a warning that said "Stop Safely, Vehicle will shut off soon". we were able to get home and I scheduled the van to be looked at by the dealership. today the dealership was able to look at the van and told me that the code while stored as no longer showing as active and that they could not help me. they told me the best thing for me to do was to continue driving and bring it back when the warning comes back, or the vehicle does completely lose power. I tried to explain to them my understanding of the situation, that there were issues with vans stopping unexpectedly and suddenly in a way that was unsafe. the recall (03A/NHTSA 23V-010) was not a fix to the underlying issue but merely provided ample warning to safely get the van off the road. I feel like the instructions I was given are a direct disregard for the recall in place. basically ignoring the warning that was put in place and asking me to continue driving until the event that triggered the recall happens anyway. This all seems to be confirmed by the NHTSA investigation that was started February of last year (Investigation: RQ24004 ) that confirms that the solution to the recall did nothing to stop the event, but only provided a better warning.

  While driving on the interstate in heavy traffic car displayed "Stop Safely - Vehicle will shut off soon" power was reduced and van started slowing down. Turning the vehicle off and on again cleared the problem. Dealer installed a software update and informed us the issue was corrected. Problem persists, happened again at interstate speeds in traffic.   Driving on the freeway going roughly 70 MPH, on electrical power, and several instances (XXX, XXX, XXX, XXX, XXX) the dashboard displayed 'Stop Safely, Vehicle will Shut Off Soon' with a red turtle icon, also known as Limp Mode. In all instances we were able to safely maneuver over to the shoulder, turn off the engine for 1-2 minutes, and turn the vehicle back on. In most instances, the Check Engine light remained for a period of time (sometimes just a few hours, others a day). I have taken the vehicle in to 2 separate Chrysler dealerships. The first at CDJR of Los Angeles, who sent a STAR team and was unable to diagnose/replicate the issue, so they claim the issue had been solved. The second at CDJR of LAX where they replaced the Power Inverter Module (and also tightened a loose nut, which was another safety concern). Since both of those visits, the issue has persisted, including the loose nut which made a clunk sound every time when accelerating. This is a serious safety concern. I have spoken with Stelantis, and they refuse to take responsibility to resolve the issue. They only provide the robotic response that 'since the dealer cannot replicate the issue, they cannot do anything.' Complete [XXX]. The dealer has acknowledge error code P0843 in my vehicle, but currently it is not 'active', whatever that means. This is a serious problem that needs to be fixed! This is a good vehicle when it works. I love the PHEV that after 2 years, I only have 16k miles, and most of my miles, as my daily driver, are on electric power. But the issue with this error are severe. Chrysler was aware that there were cars stopping without prior notification, so their solution was updating the software so the system would have these notifications to alert the driver.   As I was driving on the highway, the warning "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" with a red turtle icon appeared. The warning indicator light also appeared. The car began to decelerate on its own as I tried to merge across several lanes of highway traffic to get to the shoulder and stop. This first happened on Thursday December 12 (also in a highway scenario). The vehicle was inspected by my dealer from December 16-18. During that time the dealer updated software and replaced drivers side PHEV engine mount. The dealer cites "Bulletin 21-042-24" as guidance for their troubleshooting. The dealer says if the problem returns, the vehicle will "need transmission according to bulletin 21-042-24." I drove the vehicle fine on December 19-20 but the problem returned on Saturday, December 21. So the problem has occurred twice in 9 days.

Attempted to put in drive to move from roadway and vehicle began bucking again, bucking continued regardless of gear selected. Attempted to place vehicle in neutral for tow truck, and bucking continued in neutral. Two children and two adults were placed in danger when the vehicle came to a sudden stop on a road and could not be moved. Big O Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at 2645 Laurens Rd Greenville, SC 29607 received the vehicle for warranty repair. Big O was advised that the issue was likely a transmission failure common to this model and trim of vehicle. Big O's service technician replaced the fuel pump control module, which is a relatively low cost repair compared to servicing or replacing the faulty transmission. This repair was unrelated to the transmission failure and unlikely to resolve the issue. Big O returned the vehicle to the owner and the transmission issues continued in their parking lot. By returning the vehicle in an unrepaired state, Big O placed the safety of the driver in danger by clearing her to drive an unrepaired and unsafe vehicle on public roads.

Malfunction Indicator Light remained on for next few driving cycles, but then went off after fourth drive. My safety was definitely put at risk as I was driving on the highway at 60-70MPH when the car just shut down and slowly decelerated on its own. Because the MIL ultimately went off after my fourth drive, I thought I was in the clear--as the Chrysler manual says this light can come on if you've had a recent servicing because the on-board diagnostics may just be recalibrating. I had my car serviced 9 days previous to the incident. The manual says if the light doesn't go off on its own, then bring it in. It went off on its own, so I thought I was in the clear. However I see in online forums this has happened to others multiple times and I'm worried it will happen to me again. I am calling my dealer tomorrow. Thank you for taking this report!

  I have driven around 19809 miles so far in last two plus years of owning this vehicle. Yesterday night (11/10/2024) while driving on a highway at a speed of 65-70 range, there was a sudden flash saying "Stop Safely Vehicle will shutoff soon" The gas pedal was not working at all. Luckily without any majow accident, i could move towards the emergency lane and then turned off the engine. Then after some time when started, The Engine malfunction symbol remained but the flash warning wasn't there, so i could drive.

  Vehicle check engine light came on preventing state inspection, at same time message on dash states "service charging system" . Using the oem charger 120v. Many complaints online say clear the code and power cycle the circuit and charger. Did both and code persists. Battery not charging affecting fuel economy and raising emissions above the stated usage average due to no battery assist. Try clearing codes no luck. OBD code P0d27 is permanent. Try using OEM level Opus access, factory tech says its a known issue, Tried clearing code no luck. This defect could cause vehicle to have no electric propulsion causing stall if gas engine died and lead to a collision. This defect should be recalled and corrected with a module or software update so generic scan tool or automatic monitor resets upon removal and replug of charging cable. Dealer tech says the IDCM is the cause. 30625 miles. This is causing higher than expected emissions, gas costs, and possible accident risk.

  The vehicle is equipped with multizone AC, and one day the REAR passenger AC system malfunctioned. This occurred during the heatwave period this summer. The AC would not turn off, after multiple attempts, neither through the infotainment screen nor the manual buttons. We tried all possible ways to turn it off and it would not. Furthermore, it was automatically set to high heat, and the temperature also could not be changed. It is available for inspection if needed. Our [XXX] child was the rear seat occupant at the time, and was on the verge of overheating. We took the vehicle to the dealership, explained the issue in detail, and also showed them the clear video evidence of the problem. Because the issue was intermittent, they did not inspect it nor repaired it because it was working fine in their possession. Manufacturer was also notified of the issue, and repeated the same dialogue as the dealer, which is, that they can not resolve it if they can not reproduce it. There were no warning codes, lights, or messages for this issue. After receiving the vehicle back from the dealer, unrepaired, the problem happened again the same day. It is now back at another dealer hoping to be repaired and the issue diagnosed/reproduced. This is making us very nervous if it happens again, during a freeway drive or a long road trip, our road safety and children's health is at risk. The dealership and manufacturer have not demonstrated urgency for this matter, and treat it as any other "intermittent" issue. They advised us to bring it back if it occurs again. Should we really be testing these diagnostics on the road with our children's safety or comfort at stake? Thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring this matter to your attention.   I was driving the vehicle in the middle lane of a 3-lane (one direction) interstate highway when a message appeared on the dashboard "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon," the check engine light turned on and the vehicle lost all ability to accelerate so it was extremely challenging to navigate to the side of the road safely through busy rush hour traffic. As the driver I had zero ability to accelerate the vehicle whatsoever, the gas pedal did absolutely nothing, which can lead to an accident on the highway due to other vehicles moving very quickly and not expecting a vehicle that is not at the right of the road to come to a stop. I brought the vehicle to the Chrysler Dealership where they initially stated this is a known issue and they would be replacing the transmission and that the transmission is under 10-year/unliminted miles warranty for this specific error (POA43 Driver Motor), however once the dealership spoke with Chrysler corporate, they indicated that they would simply be clearing the code and they returned the car to us. We were advised to bring the vehicle back when the error recurs. We opted to sell the vehicle immediately instead, because it it not safe to drive now, but unfortunately this means we are passing the problem on to another consumer as Chrysler refuses to fix the problem. The vehicle suddenly made a "ding" sound, and the main driver screen displayed an error message "Stop Safely. The Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". I had to rapidly change across three lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder while losing speed, where I eventually parked with the hazard lights on.   On July 22, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened investigation PE22-008 regarding complaints alleging a loss of motive power condition potentially due to a transmission malfunction in Model Years 2019-2021 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV).  On January 17, 2023, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) issued safety recall (NHTSA Recall 23V-010) involving 2017-2023 Model Years (MY) Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) produced between August 12, 2016, through January 9, 2023. The recall states that the loss of motive power condition in these vehicles is caused by an internal transmission wiring connector that may short circuit, resulting in an unexpected engine shutdown.  An unexpected engine shutdown can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.  In discussions with FCA on Recall 23V-010, ODI confirmed the recall was related to investigation PE22-008.  The remedy for 23V-010 is to update the Power Inverter module (PIM) and/or Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) software to provide drivers a message stating “Stop Safely - Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon” followed by a chime and MIL, PRNDL blinking (on cluster and shifter knob), low SOC (State of Charge) warning and reduced power mode.  The recall remedy does not replace the defective hardware that was described in Recall 23V-010, and the wiring connector short still exists on these vehicles. To date, ODI has received 132 reports for the population of vehicles subject to recall 23V-010.  These reports allege a loss of motive power condition that reduces the vehicles speed, followed by dashboard warning lamps displaying messages associated with recall 23V-010.  The presence of these warning lamps and messages indicates the vehicle likely had the recall remedy applied. Follow up discussions with FCA confirm their remedy does not prevent a loss of motive power, but instead limits torque to the engine and after an unspecified number of miles or period of time, the engine will shut down.  When this occurs, FCA relies on the owner to transport the vehicle to a dealership after they experience a loss of motive power condition, at which time the defective hardware is replaced.  Furthermore, the dashboard messages introduced in the recall remedy may cause the driver to pull over in an unsafe location. Pulling over in an unsafe location may expose the occupants to undue harm.   On July 22, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE22008 to investigate allegation of loss of motive power, potentially due to transmission malfunction, in certain Chrysler Pacifica vehicles. In a January 17, 2023 letter to NHTSA, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) submitted recall notice 23V-010 involving a transmission motor wiring defect in 67,118 model year (MY) 2017-2023 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) manufactured from August 12, 2016 through January 9, 2023. FCA determined that an internal transmission connector short could result in an unexpected engine shutdown under certain conditions. Follow up correspondence with FCA confirmed this defect results in an electric motor position trouble code that was the basis for opening PE22008, therefore NHTSA is closing this investigation. The 23V-010 recall remedy is a software update to address the hardware failure associated with PE22008. When a hardware failure is detected, the vehicle limits motive power while instructing the driver to pull over to a safe location. NHTSA is concerned that drivers will pull over to an unsafe location when the warning message associated with the recall remedy displays on the dashboard. Due to the nature of the recall remedy and related reports, NHTSA has opened Recall Query RQ24004 to assess the recall remedy. The reports and failure report summary values included with this closing action are related to allegations of Recall 23V-010 remedy inadequacy. The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
