The filler neck leaks gas at the rubber hose. every time you add gas, does not have to be full tank. we were given this vehicle with the leak. cannot afford to have fixed by mechanic, we have a hose clamp around the rubber to hold it on. the actual metal filler section in rotten rusted away. one time I parked at a gas station and they threatened to call police to have me towed, I never heard of the gas line leaking like this but see alot alot of similar complaints on this year range of e150s. *tr
1995 ford E150 steering gearbox bolts sheared off from frame causing total steering failure, vehicle had to be towed, complete loss of steering, extremely dangerous, would have been a huge wreck if failure happened moments earlier. *Tr
Dt*: the contact stated after parking the vehicle and entering a store, the contact was notified by the police that there was smoke coming from the vehicle. when the hood was opened there was evidence of a fire in the engine compartment. a police report was taken. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic shop, where the problem was identified as a faulty vehicle speed control switch, as described in the recall letter # 06v286000, vehicle speed control, which the contact had just received. the part was replaced, but the brake and running lights failed to illuminate and the cruise control did not function. the manufacturer was notified. updated 10/25/2006 - *nm
The exhaust gas recirculation (egr) tube broke at the flexible section of the tube on my 1995 ford E-150 van with a 5.8L engine. the broken egr tube causes exhaust to leak. ford currently has a similar recall on 1993 -1997 super duty trucks, nhtsa recall #97v209 (ford campaign #97s92). *jb

At approximately 11:45 pm on 03 feb 2006 we drove our 1995 ford E150 club wagon on a local errand amounting to 6-8 city blocks. prior to this errand the vehicle had been sitting "cold" in our carport for many hours. upon our return from the errand (20 minutes), at approx. 12:05 am on 04 feb 2006, we parked the vehicle in our carport and prior to turning off the ignition, smoke appeared from beneath the hood and began to fill the passenger compartment. after exiting the vehicle, we noted flames beneath the engine compartment. a small chemical fire extinguisher was applied, but did not stifle the fire. the van was a total loss to the fire, and "major" property damage was sustained by a neighbor's vehicle parked to our immediate left and the carport structure itself (wood and corrugated steel). another vehicle also sustained "minor" damage. police and fire dept. Reports have been filed. the cause from these official sources IS "undetermined". our research has shown that there are current issues with ford vehicle fires that may be related to the cruise control deactivation switch. 1995 econoline IS a model containing this (or a similar) switch. *nm
Dt: the callers vehicle caught on fire. The vehicle was sitting for about 9 hours. The fire department came to put the fire out. They did file a report. Caller said it was a 3 alarm fire. The vehicle was totaled. Caller has 50 other fords. They are the E150 and E250 cargo vans. He has concerns about the other ones catching fire. The caller said there was a recall on this problem but this vehicle was not included. the building was damaged and some of the vehicles at the business. Dealer told him his vehicle was not in recall. Manufacturer has not got back to him yet. *Ak
Dt: contact stated the cruise control switch on the master cylinder melted. a fuse blew out, and the vehicle would not come out of park. this was how they came to notice the burned switch. this happened on 8-16-05. The vehicle IS a 1995 ford e- 150 club wagon. There were no problems prior to this. neither the dealer nor ford have been notified. There was no fire. *Ak

Rusted oil pan w/ 36000 miles on vehicle. *ak
A black grease-like compound oozed from the stitching on the padded leather steering wheel cover.*mr the consumer continued to wiped the "grease" substance from his hands and the steering wheel. None of the dealerships contacted knew of the cause. One dealer stated it would cost $626. For the part and $50. For the labor. The part was expensive because it came with the air bag inside the steering wheel. Consumer feels ford should investigate the matter and issue a recall to replace all steering wheels with potential of leakage. *ph *jb *jb
The fuel overflow hose ford part # f7u79170aa has rotted and cracked approximately 1.5'' long just above the clamp that secures it to the fuel tank. after refueling, the gas fumes are quite strong and would leave a puddle of fuel under vehicle. would also loose fuel when driving when tank was over 3/4 full. fuel would drip down from all sides of fuel tank. the possibility of fuel blowing back onto the hot exhaust and brakes IS extremely high. I am holding onto the defective fuel overflow hose if anyone would like to see it. *jb
Vehicle fire- I was asleep at 5:00 a.m.,when I was awakened by a loud pop or bang. I thought there was a car wreck in front of the house. I went outside to check on the wreck and found smoke coming out of my carport. I ran into the carport to find my 1995 ford E-150 conversion van on fire under the hood. My family was still asleep so I ran back into the house and woke them up and called 911. I ran back outside to the van, put it in neutral and pushed it into the street away from the house. I put the fire out with a garden hose. The fire department arrived on scene shortly after fire was extinguished. The fire department called a fire investigator to the scene. The fire was electrical in nature. The van had been parked for about 11 hours. the cruise control stopped working about 1 or 2 months before the fire. State farm totaled the van. I would like "ford" to investigate the electrical cause before someone gets killed. If I had been at work my family would have possibly been killed as the fire would have spread to the house. *ph
Consumer states that the throttle sticks intermittently while driving. Dealer notified. feel free to provide any further information. *mr
Fuel tank leaks fuel onto exhaust system and heavy vapors when >3/4 full and the anti-lock brakes greatly increase stopping distance over "regular" mode and do not effectively slow the car. they are defective.e

This unit has had two engines, both destroyed by thefailure of ford part number 389160-s. this IS a plastic "t" to connect three heater hose together that "rots" in time and causes complete engine failure at high speed. Found in vans with "rear" heat. component should have been the traditional metal. this part IS an engine dependant part and should have never been made out of "plastic".*ak
Switch (sw-5945 or f3tz-9f924-bb) attached to brake master cylinder failed and allowed brake fluid to pass thru the switch and shorted out the wires to the switch this dead short caused fuse #1 to blow and the speedometer and odometer to cease operation--brake fluid had been leaking from the master cylinder prior to the switch arking and causing the dead short with no brake system malfunction indication-problem caught by owner prior to low fluid indication-when taken to the dealer for no odometer/speedometer the dealers "computer " evaluation was a bad clock spring and bad shifter handle. *Ak
Noticed metal fatigue crack in frame near the steering box. bolt goes directly through frame to steering box, in which the bolt came off. There was no steering/ spider cracks running through frame. Please provide any further information.*ak

The fuel filler hose and the overflow hose have rotted and cracked to the point where it IS almost impossible to refuel the vehicle. After refueling, the gas fumes are are quite strong and the possibility of fuel blowing back onto the hot exhaust and brakes IS extremely high. ford does not have any recalls on the fuel hose for this particular vehicle although there are some vehicles manufactured at other locations which have been corrected.*ak
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Ea05-005 IS closed with ford?s actions in recalls 05v-017, 05v-388, and 06v-286, recalling approximately 6.7 million vehicles equipped with texas instruments speed control deactivation switches (scds).the brake systems in these recalled vehicles generate a vacuum that can potentially cause the scds to fail and, in certain switch installation orientations, catch fire.ford IS also including the entire population of 1998 explorers.ford has informed odi that testing to determine the cause of failures in the 1998 explorers will continue after this investigation IS closed.odi believes that the vehicles exhibiting the factors causing scds failure described in this report correlate well with the observed failure rates on these vehicles by model and model year.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist in the non-recalled vehicles manufactured with scds that are not included in ford?s recalls.odi will continue to monitor the non-recalled population for incidence of engine compartment fires.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.see attached closing report for details.
