  If the parking brake cable connector clip fails, the vehicle may unexpectedly roll, increasing the risk of a crash.

  A chafed rear brake line may result in an air leak, reducing the rear braking ability and increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact drove the vehicle to a car wash and water was sprayed above and under the engine. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. The contact also stated that the same failure occurred approximately four times. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take-off (PTO) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.

It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the reductant tank harness, the reductant pump/heater assembly and/or the reductant tank, as well as securing the wiring harness using a cable zip tie fastener.

To correct this condition, reflash the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) reductant level sensor/quality module using the Urea Sensor Reprogramming tool.

This may be caused by the torque converter one way clutch. To correct the condition, perform the torque converter stall speed test. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 307-01B > Special Testing Procedures > Stall Speed Test. For this specific condition, the line pressure test is not required prior to performing the stall speed test. If engine stall speed does not reach the minimum RPM range specified, replace the torque converter, torque convertor hub seal, and fluid filter. Perform the transmission fluid cooler backflushing and cleaning procedure and refill the fluid. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01B.

To correct the condition, remove the exhaust and stand the exhaust up with the turbocharger inlet side facing down using a suitable drain pan. These elevated idle periods can last from 20-40 minutes, depending on ambient temperatures. During power take off (PTO) use and already using idle set point control, the elevated speed is disabled. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to the Exhaust Filter warning messages.

When an oil leak is present at a turbocharger oil supply or drain tube, remove the affected oil tube and inspect for damage, and replace the O-ring seals, pedestal gasket or oil tube as required. Refer to WSM, Section 303-04. For claiming, use the affected oil tube or pedestal gasket as the causal part and applicable labor operations in Sections 6 and 9 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

This may be caused by an in range failure of the brake pedal pressure transducer (7920) that does not set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) can be used to view the WHEEL TRQ RAW PID in the generic function module (GFM). It displays the voltage value of the brake pedal pressure transducer. The voltage should be between 0.35 volts and 0.65 volts with the brakes released and will increase with brake pedal pressure. An inoperative transducer will not change with brake pedal pressure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-08 for the location of the brake pedal pressure transducer.
