Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. due to inadequate lubrication of the inside of the lower ball joints, excessive wear can occur causing damage to the lower ball joints. separation of the lower ball joints from the steering knuckle arms could occur.
This condition could lead to a loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the lower ball joints.
As I pulled up and made a left turn into the driveway at my parent's house, I heard a loud clunk and the car dropped to the ground and could not be moved and so it died in the middle of the residential street. I came out and found that it was my lower ball joint and it had broke off the rod was actually sheared off from the joint. I have the control joint that was broken. lexus says that my car IS not covered under the recall but I disagree and feel that this IS a manufacturer defect that should have been covered under the recall. had this broke off at highway speeds, I would have been in big trouble.
