Takata recall: the recall should most definitely included the airbag wiring harness, I had no issues with my airbag light until I place my car back in the shop to get the recall a day later the airbag light came on and will not go out. I took it back to lexus and they notified me that the it had nothing to do with the part they just replaced. However it was not on prior too. The are getting a diagnostic myself I was informed that the wiring harness was bad and my airbags would not deploy, in an accident. This a major safety concern, and a well known issue to happen to the lexus IS 250, this IS a direct link with the takata recall and something that should be cover by lexus. Faulty air bags are not a customers fault. Air bags where placed in cars for life saving protection, to not include this IS the recall IS a death sentence for the drivers and there family who are having this problem.

The transmission on my car has issues jerking when in gear and stopping when in use. I took my car to a certified lexus dealer and they could not repair it. I'm sure because it was no longer under warranty. I took it to a transmission machanic and I bought a 2006 is250 used transmission from a car that was totaled that had less miles and was totaled because the frame was bent because it was rear ended. In less than a year same problem transmission again! I spent $4500 the first go around I couldn't afford that again. I had to buy another car for what I paid to repair the lexus. I've checked for recalls yeah my dash has melted and all of the other recalls! I can't get those corrected!! I'm starting a class action lawsuit!!! I've spent to much money on a high class toyota that has more problems than its worth!!!!

Lexus has a wide know issue with melting dashboards and door panels. My dashboard IS melting. It creates a glare when driving, it houses critical electrical components that can pose a huge safety hazard. I drive this car daily and frequently transport passengers such as family and friends. Lexus refuses to do anything about it. Car interior repair shops have no solution to this problem. Lexus acknowledges that this problem IS widespread but IS not doing anything to prevent tragedy from occurring. The condition continues to get worse to the point that mechanics are refusing to work on anything that requires have to lay hands on the dashboard because it IS literally melting and falling apart. They don't want to be held responsible for any further damage. This poses another safety risk as I can not fix any problems behind the dashboard at all if mechanics are refusing to do work on it. I have exhausted all search efforts looking for a solution. I am genuinely concerned about my safety and others. Lexus has manufactured thousands upon thousands of these vehicles and they continue to be driven on the public roads. Please help.

I drove approximately 65 miles stopped and parked for 15 minutes. I then turned the car on and while commencing to drive away, noticed that my steering wheel was locked and incredibly hard to steer left or right. My dashboard had no problem indicator lights on, so I turned the car off and restarted it and regained steering capabilities. the following morning, I drove 1 mile away and upon my return while doing 35 mph the steering wheel locked and became incredibly hard to steer resulting in a near death experience that I will never forget. had this same scenario have occurred while my daughter was at the wheel there's no doubt in my mind that this part malfunction would have caused a fatality. how can such a vital part malfunction without warning to the driver?

- Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant…
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.

- 10177780TSB: SUPERSESSION NOTICE The information contained in this bulletin supersedes Service Bulletin Nos. ST004-01, SU001-08, and L-SB-0174-08. The aforementioned bulletins are obsolete, and any printed versions should be discarded. Be sure to review the entire content of this service bulletin before proceeding. This Service Bulletin provides best practice procedures for vehicle pulling complaint, diagnosis, and repair for 2002 ? 2021 model year Lexus vehicles. This information supplements Repair Manual procedures when the symptoms are: ?Vehicle Pulling: The vehicle moves to the right or left when the driver holds the steering wheel while driving straight ahead without exerting steering effort. ?Steering Wheel Off Center: The vehicle travels straight, but the steering wheel is not pointed straight ahead. The vehicle is not pulling. Before repairing a vehicle pulling to one side, it is necessary to clearly identify the cause of the pulling condition. Frequently, pulling to one side is diagnosed as a wheel alignment concern. However, the actual cause may be related to the lateral force generated by the tires, vehicle damage, road crown or worn components. Performing a wheel alignment when tire force is the cause could result in the wheel alignment being set at a value outside of specifications. This could then cause other problems such as uneven tire wear, etc. A customer may notice a pull to the left when in the left lanes of travel and notice a pull to the right or no pull when traveling in the right lanes of travel on the very same section of roadway. This road crown effect is environmental and cannot be corrected with suspension adjustments or any other wheel or tire modification discussed in this bulletin.
