My truck sat for a while I charged the Batt. I drove to the landfill in Tehachapi Ca. It ran fine. I unloaded the trash the engine idled for 30+min. The landfill had debris on the ground. The truck ran fine back to town. I had 3/4 fuel. I decided to fill up at the Loves gas station I filled it all the way 2 clicks I think. I started up the truck after fueling it ran terribly I had a flashing check engine light. I drove home 2milles when home the truck was on 🔥 FIRE!! I turned off engine. Put lots of h20 on fire. Disconnected Batt put more h20. I don't know if it started at gas station or in between. I can ask neighbors. The fire was under the driver's seat underneath the truck. I don't know if it was damaged by debris at the dump there was lots of [XXX] on the ground. It has not been inspected yet. I have not started any repairs. No police report. No damage to any one or property (except my truck). It is in my driveway and can be inspected there or towed. No pictures but I can take some. Takata recall IS not being done fast enough. this recall began over a year ago in january 2016. we have yet to receive a letter telling us to schedule an appointment for repair. the recall says it IS dangerous and to have it done as soon as possible yet according to their schedule...we are not even close to being able to do it in over a year. We need to get to work in this vehicle every day. unacceptable.

The force of the crash was enough to bend the door. I called the local police department, but was informed that they do not issue report numbers for minor losses incurred on private property. I am filing this report in view of the potential for serious bodily harm, death, or major property damage associated with a spontaneous shifting from neutral into a gear, so that the vehicle travels without any occupants, and poses the risk of crashing. *Tr

I was driving into the mountains of nc from sc. smelled smoke. realized it was coming from in between truck cab and bed. it was very difficult to put out fire as it had started to melt the plastic bed liner and plastic gas tank. fire was caused by a 2 foot by 2 foot piece of cardboard that had fallen down between bed and cab. it was resting on the gas tank and leaning to the side on top of the muffler. I assume it caught fire as we traveled slowly up the winding road. (Hwy 276) there IS no shield over the muffler. when the tank was replaced it was reported to me that the fire had melted the top of the fuel pump and had exposed a hole in the gas tank. I believe this a very serious problem that needs to be dealt with by mazda. *jb

12/07/05 engine died on 4 lane hwy, 42 miles from home in rush hour traffic. Towed to dealer, who two days later stated problem was fuel pump relay, and it was fixed. 01/25/05 truck died in intersection at 4:30 p.m. Husband taped wires and wire-tied connector to relay. Dealer ordered fuel cut-off switch 01/27/05 and did not install until 02/03/06, because waiting for part. Dealer relocated the relay from floor board to behind the passenger kick panel and wire-tied the connector to the relay and swore this would solve problem. On 02/10/06 the engine died at 1:00 p.m., 50 miles from home. Because of previous history, I managed to reset and continue home and left message with service manager. My husband decided to inspect situation, and discovered the wire connector that plugs into the relay IS broken and IS the cause for failure. We believe this damage was probably caused by the original location of assembly underneath passenger floor mat. Presently awaiting call back from service manager. *jb

The truck only had approx 31000 miles on it over 2 years of driving. I had to replace the front brake pads(mind you that only one pad really had to be replaced, it was the left inner pad) and the discs as they were already out of the limit for resurfacing.

I notice the dash board engine check light on, my way to work while driving on freeway 120(manteca,ca.) and immediately exited on the first exit point and find a parking spot and called modesto mazda dealership to informed them of the situation and talk to craig osmer and dennis hinkley about it and told me to continue my journey to work and drop the vehicle the next day not knowing the cause of the engine warning lights on? So I went ahead and went to my work on thursday the 22ND of may,2003. My concern was that I could have been blown-up by the gas leak if sparks occur at anytime during my travel to and from my work place (modesto-fremont-modesto). I hope for an immediate investigation regarding this matter before somebody gets hurts due to negligence in the part of the vehicle manufacturer and dealership alike. *jb

This pe was opened based on technical service bulletin (tsb) #05-6-19 issued by ford motor company and service bulletin #09-008/5 issued by mazda motor corporation to address concerns of the center high mounted stop light (chmsl) wiring harness chaffing. The tsb's affected the ford super cab and mazda cab plus vehicles only.service technicians contacted the ford hotline because it was difficult for the technicians to diagnose and locate the cause of the inoperative brake lights.ford and mazda issued the tsb's to aid technicians in the identification and repair of the wire chafe condition.of all warranty claims submitted to ford for brake lamp failure, ford identified only 120 that were related to wire chafe near the chmsl, and most (115 of the 120) were reported for the super cab chmsl. Odi's review of ford's warranty claims and complaint data reveals a declining trend for the super cab and that trend closely parallels the trend for the standard cab as well.a safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.

This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the Speedometer Replacement Label. Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazdas vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMOs services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. - 10206002Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Cooler and Lines Flushing Procedure: Automatic Transaxle/Transmission (A/T) oil cooler and lines must be power flushed completely before an overhauled or replacement A/T is installed (except SKYACTIV-DRIVE). The most common cause of repeat A/T failures is lack of lubrication to the front and rear planetary gears. This is usually caused by an accumulation of metal particles and debris (from a previous A/T failure) on the internal mesh type baffle of the oil cooler. Power flushing will remove the restriction by back flushing, followed by forward flushing to dislodge a restriction, then back flushing again. This will in turn ensure full ATF flow for the transmission when it is operating.

The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system.When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur tooxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age.
- 10153309The Mazda GR8-1291 is required for all warranty battery testing. If the Mazda GR8-1291 is not used, incorrect battery testing may result in unnecessary battery replacement. Use the following test procedures in this Service Bulletin to test Mazda vehicle batteries and to generate a Warranty Code. NOTE: A Warranty Code is required for warranty claim submission Battery Identification (Mazda batteries have 2 rating types) 1. JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard): JIS codes are six-digit alpha-numeric markings molded into the top of the battery to identify a battery by the capacity (amps), dimensions, and battery terminal type. Vehicles manufactured in Japan come from the factory with a JIS rated battery. NOTE: Replacement batteries may use a CCA rating. If so, use the CCA rating listed on the battery. 2. CCA (Cold Cranking Amps):CCA ratings are normally located on a sticker affixed to the top of the battery to indicate a battery's Cold Cranking Amps. CCA rated batteries are supplied with domestically produced vehicles. NOTE: If an incorrect CCA rating is entered into the Mazda GR8-1291, it will result in a false result and invalid Warranty Code from the tester. This will also result in unnecessary replacement of batteries.
