These records cover every 2007 Mazda MAZDA5. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
2 recalls name the 2007 Mazda MAZDA5. Newest first.
Mazda IS recalling certain model year 2007-2009 mazda3 and mazda5 vehicles manufactured from april 2, 2007 through november 30, 2008. these vehicles may have a condition in which a sudden loss of power steering assist could occur at any time while driving the vehicle.
Power steering assist IS suddenly lost reducing the driver's ability to steer the vehicle as typically expected, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering pump and lines free of charge. the safety recall began on september 15, 2010. owners may contact mazda customer assistance center at 1-800-222-5500.
Thule, inc. IS recalling 2,323 owner-installed roof-mounted fit kits, models 3068 and 3069, manufactured between january 1, 2008 and february 28, 2009 that are used with thule podium foot packs, models 460 and 460R. these fit kits were sold as aftermarket equipment for use on the vehicles listed above. the bolt(s) used to secure the foot to the vehicle…
This may result in the bolt(s) snapping off during use or without a load. the unsecured rack and load can then come loose while driving creating a potential road hazard, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
Thule will mail a retro fit kit along with repair instructions to owners free of charge. the safety recall IS expected to begin on or before april 13, 2009. owners may contact thule toll-free at 1-800-238-2388.
My 2007 mazda5 power steering stopped worked abruptly while turning on a major highway. The sudden change in steering nearly caused an accident. I checked the ODB reader for codes but none were present. Then it happened again the next day in a similar situation, the power steering shut off but this time we were able to see the dash light for the power steering failure come on. It kicked back in a minute later. Again no codes in the scanner. Upon researching how to fix this issue my search revealed that 2007-2009 Mazda 5s have a recall for this exact critical failure. My next step was to call the local dealership to schedule a fix, however they told me that our specific vehicle (according to the VIN) was not under that recall, regardless of the vehicle doing precisely what was recalled. Please review the recall if you can, this is likely affecting more vehicles than Mazda is admitting to and is extremely dangerous.
I was driving my Mazda 5 2007 in traffic when suddenly it burst into flames on the passenger side underneath the hood
The contact owns a 2007 Mazda Mazda5. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH and approaching a traffic light, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact drove to his residence however, it was difficult to turn the steering wheel. The contact stated that the ABS and power steering warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who was not able to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact researched the failure online and found NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V374000 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
There IS major leaking from multiple unknown sources, one place the water hides IS in the spare tire wheel well and it was not evident at first as to why the car was molding on the inside. It has terrible microbial growth that IS evident and I can only imagine what I cant see. The car to my knowledge has never been in any accident to cause this. Had the heater core replaced because I was told that could be a reason why there IS water in floor , it was replaced and I was informed that there was nothing wrong with the original one.. That was a year ago, and it has only gotten worse . When it rains the car IS soaked even when the water that IS in the wheel well IS sucked up... I have seen other similar complaints online, I just don't know what to do . I have children one that has autism and asthma and this IS my only source of transportation .... Insurance claim was filed and they covered a carpet clean... The source(s) IS not fixed or known!! The sunroof lines have been ruled out as well they are clean...
The sunroof exploded while I was driving on freeway.
Side sliding doors will open while driving, creating a safety hazard to passengers.
Power steering leak
Sudden power steering loss while driving on an entry ramp of a highway, accompanied by illumination of multiple lights on the dashboard. Steering loss occurred while vehicle steering wheel was turned and vehicle was in motion and preparing to merge onto highway. Steering wheel suddenly and violently jerked from my hands, causing the vehicle to steer in the direction off the road. Dash lights (including power steering) flashed intermittently, however would remain constantly on when steering was pulled from center position. Power steering loss was spontaneous, intermittent, and without warning. vehicle did not record any diagnostic fault codes while lights were displayed. symptoms vehicle displayed coincide with "recall summary" found documented on nhtsa recall 10v374000 for the 2007 mazda5. incident occurred briefly at low speeds while parking on 08/23/2019 and resolved after vehicle was turned off and restarted. incident reoccurred while merging onto highway at high rate of speed as described above on 08/25/2019. while incident occurs and lights illuminated on dashboard, the steering wheel motion IS very restricted and the wheel automatically forces itself back to the center (neutral) position. The lights on the dashboard will remain constantly illuminated with any movement of the steering wheel away from the center/neutral position. The radio also has hello displayed, as if the vehicle was just started, even though the vehicle IS in motion and was never turned off.
The sliding doors seem to be frozen and they will not latch properly. one day while my daughters were in the car with me the doors slid open after I drove away and they thought they had closed the doors. the other two days the door did not slide open but the light indicated the door was open but we hadn't used the doors we only unlocked them.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving 15 mph, the steering wheel failed to return to its original position and straighten the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact should take the vehicle to the dealer and that there was a tsb. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving 30 mph, the steering wheel became inoperable and the steering wheel indicator illuminated. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle, but the failure seized. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v374000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
The car has less than 68,000 miles. Diagnosed as all suspension needing to be replaced. The mechanic diagnosing said, " I wouldn't let my mom drive that car" and that the suspension could blow out at any time while driving. All the arms of the suspension are bad/haywire and need to be replaced. I noticed that other 2007 mazda 5S have been recalled for the same problem. How I would wish that someone would please check if this 2007mazda5 should also be recalled-even though it was manufactured in a different timeframe than those currently in recall. It's a possibility you know. Please help. There IS a very loud rattling sound, thudding of tires when driving at any speed and the back tires don't follow or "rotate" when turning-they "swing" and stay still, as if they lock. Also, the car floods extensively when it rains.
Referring to a december 18, 2006 recall nhtsa campaign ID number: 06v463000. Regarding a problem with the sliding door coming open when driving during cold weather. My vehicle has this problem which IS gradually becoming worse as time goes by. Mazda says my vin # was not included so they will not fix it under the recall. If that IS the case and they were aware of the problem when my vehicle was manufactured, am I not correct in assuming that this modification should have be rectified before the vehicle was sold. I think mazda should be liable to include my vehicle in as part of this recall. I live in utah. *tr
Have 2007 mazda 5 and power steering IS just quitting at times. No warning, this steering light on the dsh comes on and the power steering seems to completely stop. Mostly happened while vehicle was stationary but did once while turning onto a road driving 45 mph with kids in the car. Very dangerous! Can not let wife drive a car that power steering just quits out of the blue! I have seen there IS a recall on this but mazda sites all say there IS no recall for this vin?? Maybe they already did the recall and it IS having issue again?
TL* the contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving approximately 62 mph with the cruise control activated, the brake pedal failed to operate. The contact applied the emergency brake, pulled the clutch, and the cruise control was deactivated in order for the vehicle to brake. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
While driving, steering suddenly with out warning became extremely difficult and hazardous to drive. Did not feel safe driving and then power steering light came on. this was driving on the street, while turning and driving ... I assume this IS the power steering and also seemed to be electric because of lights deeming on radio...unknown.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. When the contact attempted to park the vehicle, the steering wheel seized. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The failure recurred. In addition, while exiting the ramp, the vehicle accelerated and the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
I called mazda's 1 800-222-5500 twice about the power steering issue on my car even after providing the info from the nhtsa site: report receipt date: aug 12, 2010 nhtsa campaign number: 10v374000 component(s): steering but they insisted that based on the car's vin, no recall IS effective (???) I'm concerned and can't drive my car after an incident when the steering wheel suddenly stiffened. More so since roads are icy this time of year. If the manufacturer IS liable, I would rather have them shoulder the expense for the fix. Would appreciate a fast reaction into this issue.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving approximately 5 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated for three seconds. The power steering warning indicator turned off and the steering resumed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v374000 (steering). The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. updated 03/10/16*lj updated 05/11/18*jb *tr
Car stops running with no fault appearing. Happened at about 17000 miles. computer (pcm) replaced. Happened again at 70000 miles. Pcm replaced. did not correct problem. Dealer has had car over 5 weeks. Can not determine fault. car IS dangerous to drive. Each event happens repeatedly on highway. Very dangerous. Could easily result in fatal accident
An issue occurs with the power steering assist, the power steering malfunction warning light will illuminate, and the car will require more physical effort to steer. this happens in very unsafe conditions while driving. I then turn the car off and I am able to steer again for about 2-3 min before this happens again. I called mazda and they are saying my vin IS not part of the recall #60108 when clearly this IS the same problem that the mazdas were having with 2007/08 models. I've called mazda and they will not honor this recall.
Since I purchased this vehicle in 2009, I have replaced various suspension components numerous times, only to have a continual 'clunking' sound from the rear end. I will never recommend or purchase another!
We were parked at the local shopping center when my 8 yr. Old son went to unbuckle his seat belt and the entire thing fell apart. *tr
On multiple occasions now when water gets into the door (car wash, melted snow, etc.) and then temperature drops, ice inside the latch mechanism prevents the door from latching properly. the door will only relatch when the ice IS melted, otherwise it will close most of the way but the door ajar light remains on since it IS not properly latched. there have been times where the light goes off and we think it IS properly latched only to see the light come back on again while driving. *tr
Mazda will not include my vehicle in this recall below because it was mfr 07/2006 and sold as a 2007: 2010-08-13 (published by nhtsa on 2010-08-13) recall summary: mazda IS recalling certain model year 2007-2009 mazda3 and mazda5 vehicles manufactured from april 2, 2007 through november 30, 2008. Nhtsa source: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/recallresults.cfm?start=1&searchtype=quicksearch&rcl_id=10v374000 mazda IS recalling 2007 through 2009 model-year mazda3 and mazda5 models for an issue with the power-steering system. The recall follows an investigation from the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), looking into power-steering system failures in the 2007-2009 mazda3. Altogether, 33 complaints were received and three crashes were attributed to the issue. the recall affects about 300,000 north american vehicles altogether, including some 2007 models, all 2008 models, and most 2009 models of the mazda3 and mazda5. A mazda source told the publication that rust contamination in the vehicles' hydraulic steering system can cause the pump to overheat and shut down, sometimes temporarily. A service bulletin has already been out for more than a year. *tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The subject vehicles have electro-hydraulic power assist steering (EHPAS).The complaint counts shown above alleged a loss of power steering assist in the subject vehicles.Usually, but not always, the loss is accompanied by the simultaneous lighting of an indicator light on the dash. The complaints include 14 alleged crashes involving 6 injuries. On Mazda3 and Mazda5 vehicles manufactured from April 2, 2007 through November 30, 2008, rust may have formed inside the EPAS high-pressure pipe during manufacture due to improper processing. If the rust is present it may damage the power steering pump bearings leading to an increased load on the electric motor; this results in an elevated operating temperature for the EPAS system. To prevent excessive overheating of the system, which could potentially cause permanent damage, afailsafe mode which de-powers the electric pump is implemented. This causes a loss of power assist making it more difficult to steer the vehicle, especially at lower vehicle speeds.Once the failsafe is implemented the EPAS system will remain disabled until the ignition is turned off. However EPAS will be re-enabled if the operating temperature is reduced (i.e., within an acceptable range) on a subsequent drive cycle. On August 8, 2010 Mazda submitted a Part 573 defect information report initiating Safety Recall 10V-374 to remedy the subject vehicles. The report, which contains additional details on the remedy repair, is available at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/.ODI notes that the affected population shown in that report includes approximately 8,000 vehicles Mazda repaired prior to initiating the recall.
