Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Freightliner Business Class M2 emergency vehicles equipped with certain Cummins diesel engines. The engine protection and inducement software may cause the engine to shut down unexpectedly.

Risk
An unexpected engine shutdown can delay emergency responders and increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Cummins will update the electronic control module software and install a corrected data plate, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 5, 2025. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is F1012.
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Freightliner Business Class M2 vehicles. The retaining clip that connects the transmission oil cooler line to the in-tank oil cooler may fail, possibly resulting in a transmission fluid leak.

Risk
If a rapid loss of transmission fluid occurs while driving, it could result in a road hazard for other motorists, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy

The vehicle's rearward visibility may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2012-2015 Freightliner Cascadia, Coronado, Business Class M2, 114SD, and Western Star 4900 trucks. In certain front axle, brake lining, and brake spider combinations, braking may cause high vibrations, resulting in early failure of the tie-rod tube.

Risk
A tie-rod failure would cause a disconnect between the front wheels, resulting in a loss of steering ability, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake linings, brake spider, and tie-rod, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2019. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL782.
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Freightliner M2 Business Class, 108SD, and 114SD vehicles. The affected vehicles might not have a required check valve installed in one of the ports of the spring brake modulation valve. Without the valve, the primary air system is not isolated from the secondary air system.

Risk
A rapid loss of air pressure in the secondary system could cause a similar rapid loss of pressure in the primary system, which may lead to a sudden application of the parking brakes. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy

Due to an incorrect clutch-release bearing component, the affected clutches may not disengage as needed.

Noticed the steering linkage had an unusual amount of free play, Thinking it might be the bearing had failed. Bought a new part and had the one on the truck taken apart. When it was removed, it was noted that the linkage was not installed correctly. There is a safety bolt that locks the linkage and prevent it from dislodging and it was installed but not in a way to prevent separation from the steering linkage from the steering wheel. In one of the pictures where i took the linkage and attached it the way it was installed on the truck to demonstrate how it was. All in all, about 1/4" of splined shaft was holding this steering wheel in place as you can see in the wear from the parts.

While driving the tractor/trailer down the highway an amber warning light came on the dash. within a matter of seconds the entire truck completely shut down while at highway speeds. the driver lost all power steering, and control of the vehicle. he was able to pull off the side of the road without injury. the vehicle went to the local freightliner dealer and it was determined that a fuse had a hairline crack which brought down the vehicle's mcm.

While driving the tractor/trailer down the interstate an amber warning light came on the dash. within a matter of seconds the entire truck completely shut down while at highway speeds. the driver lost all power steering, and control of the vehicle. he was able to pull off the side of the road without injury. the vehicle went to the local freightliner dealer and it was determined that a fuse had failed on the truck bringing down the vehicles mcm.

TL* the contact owns a 2015 freightliner business class M2. While driving at 45 mph, the intake heater warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,500.
