The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The transmission shuddered, and the vehicle drove abnormally rough. In addition, the transmission shifted abnormally hard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,950.
I was driving on a highway when the front grill deflector flew off of my vehicle and broke my driver's side windshield wiper. The incident scared me and made me jump and I'm not sure where the part went after it flew over my wind shield but it could have hit the car behind me. The part in question was part of recall 25V060. I took the vehicle to the dealership, and they said they had already completed the recall in June of 2025 and that GMC would not cover the cost of fixing it. I see there is a new query for this exact problem RQ26003.
After the recall was completed for the propulsion update and oil weight of 0-20 to 0-40 the truck started experiencing engine jerking and noise while driving. The MPG decreased significantly after the engine was replaced at 22k miles, driving on the interstate cruise control at 80mph the engine seized and I was almost smashed by a simi-truck. No steering, no power whatsoever. I was pulling on the steering wheel to get the truck off the freeway and out of the way. Fast forward around 70k miles, all the while I could deal with loss of MPG after engine replacement. No problems. Then came the recall and reflashing of the firm/software and a few months later I was making an u-turn when all a sudden the engine made a loud bang and bad tapping noise came from the engine. I could barely make it to the dealership where I bought the truck maybe 2 miles from where it happened. The dealership service center had the truck for a week then told me to come pick it up there is nothing they could do under warranty. All valve lifters except #3 are blown. GMC says the engine is not under warranty and I must pay $17k for a new engine.
Coolant control valve failure per code P1098. Known issue with a special bulletin from Duramax which claims this should be a covered replacement for this year make and model. However, dealer claims VIN is not covered
Recall n242490120 was corrected on 6/10/25. Grill has since blown off while driving ,couldn’t retrieve it, and caused a chip on my windshield. Recall was for front grille deflector. Dear Learship that repaired it said they were only authorized once to repair and it would be out of pocket expense to repair again.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 80 MPH, a shiny silver object suddenly struck the front windshield of the vehicle. After reaching the destination, parking, and inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered that the top section of the front grille had partially detached from the vehicle. A local dealer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.
This report shows 4 more new attempts to repair the drop in power, bucking, surging, and lurching that my truck has been doing since May 2026, after the L87 Engine replacement. This issue has caused me to come very close to rear ending a few vehicles, including a Deer Park police officer. It has caused me to run through red lights unexpectedly. The vehicle has had a case open with GM Corp. Customer Care, Case(s) 95259917 (OLD), Case # 108994166 current case (Phone, Instagram). The problems are dangerous because the truck can begin shutting down and feel as if its stopping due to being stuck between gears or maybe torque converter. It happens on the highway at different speeds. It happens in city, stop and go traffic. The lunging forward comes into play with no prior warning. No lights, no messages on the instrument cluster. The dealer had me come in and drive the vehicle to show one of the managers what is happening while I am commuting. It has been confirmed EVERYTIME I was told there is no problem. I am attaching the latest work orders related to the issues after the engine replacement. For the past 6 months this truck is in the shop or stuck in my driveway more than it is driven or used. It is medically necessary that I have transportation available 24/7. I am under the care of several specialists since I was diagnosed and treatment for cancer began. Notice there are TWO work orders NUMBERED "63481" They are attached. ONE the third attempt dated (8-28-26) printed when i picked it up my ADAS was replaced and it has AVISRentCar, I paid for. Second "63481" forth attempt dated (9-15-26) printed when i picked it up after a Transmission relearn AGAIN (duplicate W.O. #) This one has Enterprise Rental I paid for. Now a FIFTH attempt to repair the same issue (9/21-9/29) This time they replaced the transmission valve body. Now, the truck is in the shop AGAIN, a Sixth time for the same problem. No issues found. I tested it again to show them. I am also attaching FTC report
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle experienced a total loss of motive power. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost of repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 164,696.
The Fuel pump modular system failed leaving me unable to start the vehicle and left me stranded in the [XXX] heat for hours. The vehicle only has 57k miles. There was a recall for this specific issue for many GM vehicles but not mine. There was no warning! It has been towed to Sheehan Buick in [XXX] and diagnosed as the Fuel pump Modular system but I am being told it is not covered under the recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The engine on my 2022 GMC Sierra seized while driving. There were no warning lights or any other indicators that there was a problem. My vehicle had previously underwent the L87 Recall "fix" of changing the oil cap and using different engine oil.
Transmission failed at about 40 MPH, coasted to the side of the road and wheels locked up. No warning lights even after the failure. GM dealership inspected and confirmed it is the common valve body failure on GM trucks but my truck is not covered on recall. It is sitting at dealer waiting for a decision. No warning, the dealer changed the transmission fluid and filter 4000 miles before.
Fuel pump module went out while driving on expressway engine had reduced power maximum speed uphill was 10 mph vehicle drove fine when on flat ground. Extremely unsafe spot to not be able to accelerate.
I have a 2022 GMC Sierra that has a black grill and the same thing happened to me that follows this safety recall; N242490120. I was driving on the highway and the same piece snapped off and went right over my head and a car behind me ran over it and they had to pull over.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal banging sound and jerked intermittently upon shifting into drive(D). The contact stated that while the vehicle was in neutral(N) at a car wash, the vehicle drove forward and nearly crashed into another vehicle, and the driver slammed on the brake pedal. The contact was informed that he could no longer return to the car wash due to the failure. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the vehicle jerked as if the parking brake was engaged. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping, and the vehicle jerked and occasionally failed to exceed 30 MPH. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred a month after an unknown recall repair where the engine was replaced. The contact stated that the engine had been replaced three times between 2022 to February 2026, under the recall. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,844.
The chrome grill deflector that was previously fixed under the GM recall (for the same part) broke off and flew into my windshield while driving on the freeway.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V060000 (Structure). However, the recall remedy failed, and the front grille piece flew off the vehicle while driving at an undisclosed speed. The contact stated that the grille was loose, and the contact returned the vehicle to the dealer and informed the dealer that the recall repair was already performed. The dealer confirmed the failure but stated that the vehicle was previously repaired as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 48,500.
Vehicle has been maintained at GM authorized dealership according to manufacturer recommendations. 6.2L recall was performed as recommended by manufacturer at approximately 25k miles. Engine failed at 36000 miles. The failure created a safety situation where vehicle suddenly lost propulsion power on the interstate. GM replaced the engine with a remanufactured engine. Vehicle was out of service for approximately 90 days. My family has lost confidence in the vehicle and unfortunately because of the now known issues with this engine the vehicle has lost significant value, making it nearly impossible to trade the vehicle in for something reliable.
The hood molding flew off my vehicle as I was traveling down the interstate. I did not hit anything, it just randomly flew off of my vehicle. The piece flew off and just barely missed the vehcile behind me. If that would of hit the other vehicle, it would of caused damage to their vehicle, and potentially could of caused an accident. The piece that fell off was the trim piece that is diretly below the hood latch and above the front grille. There was no incidcators that this was going to happen. I see there was a recall on the same model and year vehicle as mine but for chrome grilles. The recall # is 25V-060.
At around 1,500 miles the truck reduced power. I was able to drive it to the dealership. The dealership reported the lifters had failed and it would be 5-6 months to repair because of the parts shortage.
While driving down the street pulling a trailer the engine stopped. I was able to get it to the side of the road. I called the GMC dealer and they dispatched a wrecker. No prior warnings, just a check engine light right before it failed and lost momentum. This is the second of three new trucks from GMC with engine failure, 1st was lifters, and the other two were bearing locked up. All maintenance was performed by the Dealership on all three trucks
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle intermittently failed to start and was jumpstarted on each occurrence. The contact purchased and installed a new battery; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, where it was diagnosed that a corroded ground strap had caused an electrical short to the battery. The dealer replaced the ground strap, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact associated the failure with Customer Satisfaction Program: N252515590; however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was unknown.
I request that GM and NHTSA investigate whether recall N242490120 / NHTSA recall 25V060 was properly performed and effective, determine why the deflector detached, and assess whether improper installation, defective parts, inadequate fastening, impact, road debris, or another cause was responsible. Evidence and Records Requested Please review or provide: • Complete recall-repair records, including repair orders, technician notes, procedures, parts and fastening specifications, photographs, repair date and mileage, personnel identities, and attachment-point inspections. • An explanation for the discrepancy between the April 18, 2025 myGMC date and April 28, 2025 GM VIN-lookup date. • Dealership inspection findings, photographs, measurements, and conclusions. • GM repair instructions, technical guidance, recall-validation records, and engineering analyses. • A written determination of the probable cause and whether this was a remedy failure, improper installation, defective part, unrelated damage, or unresolved cause. • Criteria for determining whether the grille must be replaced or repaired. • Warranty, goodwill, claim, technical-assistance, and customer-service records. • Similar complaints, warranty claims, field reports, damage reports, and recurrence data. Corrective Actions Requested I request that GM identify the cause, determine whether the grille must be replaced, and assess whether the attachment can be repaired. If the incident resulted from the recall condition, repair, improper installation, defective parts, or failure of the remedy, I request no-cost repair or reimbursement, including grille replacement. If GM attributes the incident to unrelated damage or an external event, I request the supporting evidence and technical basis. I request that NHTSA determine whether additional oversight or corrective action is warranted to prevent recurrence and road-debris hazards.
