Local dealer is not repairing my recall. I keep getting told parts are not available and this has gone on for years.
When I am driving in town I have an indication message that comes up and says engine power reduced
Dash cracked on passenger side of vehicle. it happened shortly after we owned the vehicle.
TL* the contact owns a 2009 GMC sierra 2500. The contact stated that after driving for 45 minutes, the vehicle was parked for two hours and the service air bag warning light illuminated. The contact called ballas buick GMC (5715 central ave, toledo, oh 43615, (567) 202-1198) and provided a fee for the diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Service airbag warning light came on, and IS still on. vehicle had been running then parked for about 2 hrs. when started the light came on with the bulb check suite then stayed on when all the other lights went out
TL* the contact owns a 2009 GMC sierra 2500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Ed dena's auto center (1500 w el monte way, dinuba, ca 93618), was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Multiple cracks in the dash. 3 are at the passenger airbag. 2 of those have cracked all the way through allowing a piece of the dash capable of dislodging if the airbag deploys creating a hazardous projectile. The crack above the instrument cluster measures over 7 inches in length. pictures provided. it IS unknown if the issue started when the vehicle was parked or in motion.
Receiving a "service trailer brake system" message while in motion on both highway and city streets when applying brakes both with and without tow\haul mode engaged. there IS a recall notice #14515 on this vehicle and the nhtsa site says that all recalls have been performed. what am I to do?
My pickup has broken exhaust manifold bolts, causing the check engine light to come on, the code IS for an emission problem, g.m. Will not repair it under the emission warranty, at this time there are 40,021 miles on the vehicle.
While driving the stabiltrak fault light came on and the right front brake locked up and jerked the vehicle to the right. The vehicle was traveling at 30 mph on a secondary road.
Plastic door handle trim seperates and will slice your skin like a razor blade when grabbing handle to open door medical wont pay for stitches they say see your automobile insurance automobile insurance tells you tough luck so you pay for the doctor visit out of pocket GMC dealer tells it will cost 250.00 per door X4 should be there fix and upgrade junk handle. That's just I want IS to have my kids to grab the door handle to open the door and slice there finger to the bone that's cool.
The door lock actuator on the driver's door will not work or only partially work at times. sometimes it works, sometimes it does not work and some times it half engages so the door can be half way opened, but the latch IS still engaged so it cannot be opened all the way. my concern IS that the door will not be locked when I think it IS if I depend on the electric lock. it doesn't matter if I use the keyless entry or the electric button on the interior if it's not working, neither operate the lock. I am concerned about theft of personal belongings, or worse, my entire vehicle if the actuator does not lock the door as intended. if the electronic portion doesn't work and I have left the vehicle running while locked, I must use the keyless entry to unlock the other doors and enter the vehicle via another door and reach over to manually unlock my driver door. another concern IS that the others will stop working as the driver door has and I will not be able to get into my vehicle. these scenarios have presented themselves after the vehicle has been sitting, after a short or long drive as well. there doesn't seem to be any time that you are safe from it not occurring.
I noticed a crack in the dash on the left side of the gauge cluster starting at the front seam that runs left to right and working its way back up towards the steering wheel. I noticed the crack on a monday after being stationary over the weekend. my pickup IS garaged almost always and other than time during a work day IS not exposed to extreme heat or prolonged time outdoors.
Truck was at full throttle brakes would not stop truck diesel engine over powered brakes. found gas peddle under floor mat luckly I put in nuteral and turned off ign glad my wife or kids were not driving death trap
Ignition switch failed internally when attempting to start the vehicle. switch will not rotate to the start position. steering wheel lock IS not engaging (failed). ignition tone notifying that the key IS in the ignition IS no longer working (was initially).
I have a 2009 GMC seirra and it shuts off for no reason at all while you are driving.and I feel this IS very dangerous.there are several complaints about this and there should be a recall on this.my vehicle has less than 50,000 thousand miles on it.and of course it started happening 2-months after the warranty was up. *tr
At approximately 65,000 miles the passenger side door lock actuator quit working. the lock does not operate with the automatic door lock on the driver side door lock function or the keypad. at approximately 110,000 miles the rear driver side door lock actuator also quit working. this IS a highly unsafe situation on many scales especially since there are no keyholes on those doors. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2009 GMC sierra 2500. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
I have a 2009 GMC sierra 2500 with 70,000 miles. at 39,200 miles, the actuator on the front drivers side door lock failed. then at about 46,000 miles the actuator on the rear drivers side door lock failed. my door locks no longer automatically lock and unlock which creates a safety hazard, particularly in the case of the rear door lock because it cannot be locked or unlocked by the driver without exiting the vehicle and crawling through from the passenger side. if you don't manually lock the rear door, a young child could open the unlocked door while the vehicle IS in motion; but if you manually lock the rear door, you cannot get a child out quickly in the event of an accident because it IS impossible to access the lock without crawling through from the passenger side. door lock actuator failures seem to be a common problem on 2009 general motors trucks. my father also has a 2009 GMC sierra 2500, and one of the front door lock actuators failed on it. I had a 2009 chevrolet silverado 3500 truck for use by my staff and one of the rear door lock actuators failed on it. a friend has a 2009 chevrolet silverado 1500, and one front and one rear door lock actuator failed on his vehicle. and, a google search led me to many postings and complaints related to door lock actuator failures on 2009 general motors trucks and suvs. I have been unable to convince my gm dealer to correct this defect - their estimated cost to replace the two actuators IS approximately $800.00 which I simply cannot afford to pay. *tr
I have a 2009 GMC sierra 2500hd 4X4 automatic diesel lmm. while towing my travel trailer on the freeway at 65mph the dashboard displayed the message "engine power reduced" all of a sudden. while this was being displayed the vehicle slowed rapidly to 35mph and the vehicles behind me were scrambling to move over. I limped the vehicle to the nearest exit and connected my obdii reader and it displayed the code of p0087 low fuel rail pressure. I limped the vehicle to the nearest auto parts store and changed the fuel filter as a precaution. I was able to limp the vehicle home the rest of the way without any further issues but the remainder of my commute was down hill - luckily. I would like to know if there IS any further information on this and what the manufacturer IS going to do if at all. *tr
Traveling about 70 mph on interstate 85 northbound in ga just before exit 64 union city. Far left fast lane. Sudden rear tire explosion. No load being hauled 65 psi air pressure in tire. Able to remain in control and work my way over to right side emergency lane. Changed to spare tire only damaged rim when truck fell and rolled over carcass a few times. Did not strike any object and tire had no physical damage seen before its blowout. *tr
All four brake rotors are corroded on one side. over 50% of the friction surface IS missing. vehicle was taken to GMC dealer clyde revord motors in everett washington for inspection. dealer's conclusion was "verified customers concern and found all 4 rotors do have corrosion on them as the rest of the under carriage shows normal signs of road contamination. no creating a safety issue." I took exception to this and contacted GMC customer care hotline and started case # [xxx]. GMC attempted to work this issue but failed to recognize or correct the serious safety issue with the brakes. I have photos of the condition and the original parts if desired. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *Tr
I have a 2009 GMC sierra 2500 with 39,200 miles. my door lock actuator quit working, so my door no longer automatically locks and unlocks which I consider to be a safety hazard. I noted on-line that this seems to be a very common problem in GMC trucks, tahoes, and suburbans - and I even have friends and family members that have had the very same problem with their gm trucks. because this IS so very common, and to me IS a safety issue, it seems like gm should be addressing this. I inquired with the dealer, and the cost for a single door lock IS well over $200. based on what I've been reading, I can expect the remaining locks to go out over time. I respectfully request that nhtsa look into this matter as I believe it IS affecting many others and IS a safety hazard. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2009 GMC sierra 2500. The contact stated that the frame developed a crack and separated right behind the control arm on both sides of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the failure and advised the contact to install reinforcement for the frame. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 7,600 and the current mileage was 58,113.
Dash rattle 18 months after purchased new. Dealer replaced dash brace due to tech bulletin. *Tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
