General Motors is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured from November 9, 2009, through August 28, 2012, for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, "Hood Latch System." The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch.
If the primary hood latch is not engaged, the hood could open unexpectedly. During vehicle operation, this could obstruct the view of the driver and increase the risk of a crash.
General Motors will notify owners and instruct them to inspect their vehicle for the presence of a secondary hood latch. Dealers will replace the hood on any affected vehicles, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC at 1-866-996-9463.
Gm IS recalling certain model year 2004-2011, chevrolet colorado, GMC canyon, model year 2006, isuzu i-280/i-350, and model year 2007-2008, i-290/i-370, regular cab vehicles and extended cab vehicles without a rear seat and equipped with a front 60/40 split bench seat. these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety…
Both nhtsa and gm discourage placement of a child in a front seat. nevertheless, there are individual circumstances that may require placement of a child in a restraint in the front center seating position of this vehicle that does not offer a rear seat. lack of access to the top tether anchor and a lack of instructions as to how to use it, may result in improper installation of a child restraint. improper installation of a child restraint can result in a reduction in the restraint's performance in the event of a crash and an increased risk of injury or death to the child seated in the restraint.
Dealers will cut a hole into the back panel trim cover to allow access to the top tether anchor for the front center seat position and will provide supplemental information as to use in the owner's manual. the manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule for this campaign. owners may contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, isuzu at 1-800-255-6727 or visit gm's website at www.gmownercenter.com.
The frame has failed. The rear frame area has rotted behond repair. I only found out when the truck was in for inspection. I had a repair station look at the rusted out spots. They came back with pictures and the they say the cost to repair IS well above the value of the truck.
I bought this chevy colorado a few months ago, vehicle with 65k, and unfortunately, for safety reasons, I could not drive it for more than 10” miles so far, because every time I drove it, I ran serious risks of causing an accident , which could even be fatal, as the vehicle simply turns off (turns off) when being driven, no matter where it is, and it takes a few minutes for it to restart, and this has happened to me several times in high traffic places. I've taken it to a few repair shops and electrics, but the problem hasn't been resolved. The chevy is a vehicle in excellent condition and has low mileage, and unfortunately due to some quality problem, which did not come from the factory, I am unable to enjoy it and drive it with pleasure. I count on the help of this great company that is NHTSA to solve this problem, and give me the joy of being able to drive my 2010 chevy colorado.
Truck won't start for 10 minutes or so while in a parked position, and at times just after turning the vehicle off, it would not start. Intermittent starting issue. Has happened several times recently, stop to get gas and went to start truck and won't start after trying the key and popping the hood to check connections. Would attempt to start vehicle and nothing happens, no sound when turning the key, but all dash lights come on, radio works, horn works when trying to start. Waited a few minutes and tried again, repeated this several times after waiting a few minutes in between, then finally when trying after approximately 10 minutes, the truck would start. Called onstar the first time it happened, while talking to person making arrangements to tow, attempted to start vehicle while talking to tech assistance, finally the vehicle started. All during this issue the vehicle IS in a stopped stationary position, engine turned off. Does not matter if in a parking lot, gas station by a pump, in my driveway or on the street parked. Have taken the vehicle to the dealership, they were unable to replicate the starting issue, claiming it was my battery, they tested and it flat lined. They charged for a battery ac delco, and didn't put that brand in my vehicle. They put in a low amperage battery with low cca. Yet billed me for the ac delco. I have called them and questioned them. This IS fraudulent activity on the part of the dealership, overbilling and not putting the correct battery in the vehicle. Still the vehicle has this issue. Initially started 12/30/2019 and then again 1/10/2020 and the very last time 1/13/2020, all after arriving to my destination to work or at a gas station, when attempting to leave, this incident occurs. It has been suggested that the gm passlock system IS going into "safety mode" for some reason. This information IS from another source.
Ignition switch caused motor to shut down while driving down the highway.
TL* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet colorado. While driving 40 mph, the engine stalled and the vehicle lost power. The check engine indicator illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to restart after a few attempts and the check engine indicator remained lit. The vehicle was driven to joe basil chevrolet (5111 transit rd, depew, ny 14043, (716) 650-4791) where it was diagnosed that the chassis electronic module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,000.
The passlock feature on the truck engages frequently without cause making me sit and wait out the 10-minute delay. This IS always inconvenient, especially at the gas station with long lines behind me. This problem has the potential for being a safety hazard. The internet has a passlock by-pass procedures but I'm reluctant to modify the vehicle without gm's authorization. the local dealer had the truck for some time and came back with unable to find fault. The issue IS so random that unless the truck IS in their possession for a week it will not do it. This problem has me very much frustrated.
I am not able to start the truck most of the time. It goes into a safety mode and I have to wait 10 minutes. Thankfully my family has not been injured yet due to this but I don't think it should come down to injury. Their IS lots of complaints about gm's passlock system and it IS very dangerous.
While driving the pass code anti-theft light came on. Parked at destination and three hours later returned to vehicle. Opened the vehicle with a key rather than the fob, vehicle would not start. The panel also indicated low fuel, but the tank was full. Waited two hours, hoping that it would reset. Vehicle still would not start.
TL* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start at random times. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure, but the vehicle was repaired with unknown parts. When the contact retrieved the vehicle, it was unable to start and was left at the dealer for six weeks. the issue recurred a second time and the dealer diagnosed that the battery had low voltage and needed replacement. The battery was replaced. The issue recurred a third time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 47,000.
I discovered I had no brake lights when driving. I had this fixed at the dealer and it was the stop lamp switch malfunctioning. It turns out there IS a recall on this part for 2004-2009 colorado's but not my 2010. Somebody could of been killed!
When I am driving the truck it will just stop running no slowing down or nothing just stops. I have put the code reader on it and it will come up with nothing.
TL* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet colorado. While driving 70 mph, the cruise control failed. Upon further inspection, the contact was informed that the brake lights also failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the blower motor failed to operate on settings 1-3 and would only work on setting 4. The contact mentioned that a burning odor emitted into the cabin. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the blower motor resistor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,786.
Airbag warning light stays on when engine IS running. Google searched and found dozens of repeated explanations of the cause on vehicle & model years on each side of mine. The wiring from the body to the small rear extended cab door IS too short and breaks as the door IS used. One of the wires IS in the airbag circuit and the indicator illuminates when the wire breaks. Upon looking under the rubber wire protection boot between the body & the door, it clearly revealed insufficient wire length to accommodate the door actuation. Clearly a design error and should be corrected by the manufacturer. No campaign on it per the dealer service advisor.
Vehicle was in an enclosed space (garage) and there was a fuel smell. Upon inspection under the vehicle, there was a steady, but not flowing drip. The liquid was found out to be gasoline, so a call was made to the dealership. Dealership said they could service the vehicle on the day of the incident, june 2, 2015. the vehicle was brought into the dealership where I was given a rental to drive until the vehicle was repaired. the next day, dealership called and said vehicle was ready to pick up. When the vehicle was started at the dealership, it hesitated and did not start. The vehicle was attempted to start again, however, this time, fuel was leaking heavily from underneath. The dealer was notified of the spilled gasoline, and they kept it overnight to repair again. A few days later, dealership called and said the vehicle was ready for pick up. The date now IS june 6, 2015. upon starting the vehicle, it seemed to start smoothly, with no leaks or problems noted. There had been no problems with leaks or smells or drips until one week later, june 13, 2015. On the way home from work, in an employee parking lot, the vehicle was attempted to start, it delayed, did not start, and fuel was leaking from the bottom extremely heavily. Approximate area of fuel on the ground at this time was 16"x12" with a small puddle. The keys were taken out of the ignition and were never re-inserted until the tow truck came to transport it back to the dealership. Currently awaiting the diagnosis and repairs from dealership.
The airbag came on I found broken wires in door hing still can t get light to go off.
