The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. After starting the vehicle, the engine ran for several seconds before the vehicle unexpectedly shut off. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the word "Key Fob" was displayed while the key fob was in the contact's hand. The vehicle failed to restart and made a clicking sound. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with fuel pump module failure. The fuel pump module was removed and cleaned; however, the failure reoccurred four months later. The contact purchased a new fuel pump module and the mechanic installed the part. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

In July 2026, I received a message on my truck's dashboard to "Service Latch System". Neither of my passenger doors would lock. I brought it into the Hendrick Chevrolet Service center, and they told me the actuators on both passenger side doors failed. Even though the truck is only 2 years old, they said I was past the mileage on the 3-year warranty and I would need to pay out of pocket for replacing the actuators. They replaced them. Then this week, week of September 21, 2026, the driver side door locks stopped working. They are now telling me the actuators on that side have now failed and I need to pay out of pocket for it again. I am concerned there is an underlying defect in the vehicle not being addressed.

Love my 2024 Chevy Colorado and researched every aspect about it prior to purchase....accept the REQUIRED Onstar subscription to enable the handsfree "speaker button" @ RH side of steering wheel for phone, navigation, etc. I was finally made aware of a promotional that came w/ the truck by an Onstar rep that only worked for one month, which no one @ the dealer, sales rep, finance, etc told me about. Once function quits, using an Android phone, it is impossible to utilize, requiring physically handling the phone to initiate and end calls.....which is unsafe and illegal in my state. It is aggravating to me that one should have to pay 45.00 a month for a great feature that is factory installed on the steering wheel when my 2015 Ford worked for free for the entire time I owned it. As a safety item it should be free and could lead to issues for others if they opt out...distraction BAD

I bought this vehicle late June 2026 and it is currently September 1 2026 and last week I encountered a check engine light. Its already having coolant issues. Way too early for something like this. Only 64,000 miles.
- Engine
Engine cooling system has a known leak. It is rather expensive out of pocket and although there is now a tsb the tsb does not cover the danger of overheating an engine and being stranded on the side of the road. Also the coolant leaking causes an unseen hazard by polluting water supplies with one of the more known toxins to the water and environment.

The windshield cowl and trim pieces keel breaking. If I didn't keep an eye on them they would just end up flying off causing road debris or projectiles

While driving home multiple lights, messages and sounds came on the dashboard. I stepped on the brake and there were no brakes. I put vehicle in neutral and pumped brakes a few times. I was not traveling that fast so the vehicle stopped before I hit the person in front of me. I drove 10 mpg with my hazards on to the nearest gas station. I called Chevy service and they sent a tow truck N/C to bring to the dealer.

I was told that my vehicle has a bent exhaust valve, which has caused irreparable damage to the engine and requires a complete engine replacement. The dealership could not determine what caused the valve to bend, but they indicated that it could potentially be a manufacturing defect, although they could not confirm that. My vehicle has now been at the Chevy dealership for more than 30 days, and I was informed that there are currently no replacement engines available from the factory due to a shortage. Given that this appears to be a known parts shortage, I assume other owners of the same make and model may be experiencing similar issues, although I cannot confirm that. The vehicle has approximately 10,000 miles on it.

Was on a trip and on the highway home the service break lights came on. By the time we got home(less than 200 miles) the breaks where scraping the calipers. Truck only had 25,586 miles on it when they picked it up to take to the shop. Dealership had to replace the break pads, calipers and rotor on the front driver side.

I purchased this truck new in March of 2024, in May I was at a Starbucks drive-thru and lost all brakes. While slowing down at the window the pedal went to the floor and my dash light up like a Christmas tree. I pulled into a parking spot and shut the truck off for about 5 minutes. When I turned the truck back on the lights were gone and the truck seemed fine, so I drove home. The next day I was picking up my kids from school when in the pickup line the same issue happened. I lost my brakes, the dash lit up, and the truck started rolling forward in the pickup line. I had to push on the brake pedal as hard as I could to make the truck stop. I called the dealer and had the truck taken there. The truck was there for several days and I was told the master cylinder and brake control module were replaced. I’m reporting this now, because I saw that this is part of a larger issue being reported and I wanted my experience memorialized to help others.

The turn signal has an intermittent condition. When I put the right turn signal indicator on to signal a right turn, after the turn is completed and the turn signal stick returns to the off position my left turn signal with signal a left turn flashing approximately 2-3 times before turning off. I took it to the local Chevrolet dealer maintenance shop and they told me the replaced the turn signal stick, however a few days later the same problem occurred again. I have also learned online that other owners have had the same issue with their Colorado pickup trucks also.

Vehicle intermittently lunges forward during the 2nd-to-1st downshift, even while the brakes are being applied. When this occurs, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerates or surges forward slightly, travels farther than anticipated, and feels similar to being bumped from behind. Because the condition occurs at low speeds, often in tight areas such as parking spaces, stop-and-go traffic, or before a crosswalk, it creates a risk of collision with pedestrians, vehicles, or objects. The issue has been reported to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Florida multiple times, but continues to happen.

The turn signal system intermittently malfunctions. When using the turn signal, the auto-cancel function sometimes activates the opposite signal, and at times the stalk does not stay engaged when attempting to signal. This creates a safety risk because surrounding drivers may receive the wrong turning/lane-change indication or no indication at all. The issue has occurred intermittently while driving and has been presented to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Florida multiple times. Cox Chevrolet has verified turn-signal over-cancel and performed prior repairs/programming. However, the issue has not been entirely resolved and continues to occur intermittently. No crash or injury has occurred, but the condition creates a risk of collision during turns, merges, and lane changes

My dog and I were headed to Home Depot on [XXX] when without any warning there was a very loud boom. My first thought was that we had been shot at. Once I gathered myself I realized the sunnroof glass had exploded. I rarely open the sunroof but do on occasion have the shade open, luckily it wasn’t open or my dog and I would have been sprayed with the glass which could have caused serious eye injury and potentially a crash. I’ve had 2 Chevy dealers tell me that is not a warranty issue that it was likely caused by a rock being thrown up. I do not believe this was the case. The closest vehicle was some 500 feet in front of us. Because it was such a violent explosion I believe it was a pressure explosion. I am also very surprised that the glass is tempered and not laminated. I have insurance so I’m not concerned with getting it repaired. I just want you to know I think it a very serious issue. Check engine light came on and the dealership said it was because the coolant was low due to the radiator hose leaking. I was told by the actual mechanic that they’ve had to do a lot of radiator hoses and that it is a known defect with the Colorados and the traverses but that GM hasn’t done a recall on them yet. That is what brings me here. My truck is only 2 years old and this shouldn’t be happening right now. Thank you for taking the time to review this and I hope GM addresses the matter promptly.

The upper radiator hose on some huge percentage of these trucks fail (mine has failed at just over 35k miles). You can check the Colorado Chevy forum, youtube, etc., et al, and find plenty of instances where this has failed. As this is the cooling system, it can cause the engine to overheat and potentially ruin the engine. The flaw seems to be an engineering issue with the rubber seal they use (instead of a high quality o-ring) to seal the upper hose to the radiator. Additionally, since this can cause engine failure it should be addressed immediately. Instead, my local Chevy dealer, since its not a recall item, said they could schedule a time next week for me to LEAVE the truck and then they would get to it in 7-10 days. This is extremely unfair to the consumer who depends on these vehicles. This should absolutely be a recall item. You can find 1000's of examples online and if you can pull GM repair data, I'm sure you'll find 1000's more.

The vehicle is registered to me; my mother was the driver at the time of the failure. At ~2,963 miles, the truck developed intermittent check engine and ABS warning lights. The dealer pulled DTC C058A (brake system control module) and P25A2. Per GM bulletin PIT6012A, the battery was replaced and a brake plunger motor sensor learn was performed. The same codes returned within weeks. The dealer then diagnosed internal failure of the brake master cylinder and reservoir, documented the vehicle as "unsafe to drive," and replaced both under warranty. The truck sat at the dealer over six weeks due to a nationwide parts backorder. Repairs were completed April 4, 2025. On May 2, 2025, at ~6,500 miles, the driver was traveling downhill on a city street in the rain at roughly 20 mph. The brake pedal suddenly became hard and resistant. Despite full-force pedal pressure, the vehicle could not be stopped. It entered an intersection, struck another vehicle, then struck a tree. Front and side airbags deployed; the vehicle was totaled. The driver sustained a concussion, broken finger, and severe back and knee injuries, was transported by ambulance, and required months of concussion treatment including vestibular therapy. The hard, resistant pedal is consistent with failure of the electronic brake boost assist (eBoost) system, leaving only unassisted hydraulic braking (roughly 4–5x normal pedal force). This matches other owner reports and the class action in Barron et al. v. GM LLC, which cites defective master cylinders with a missing internal cartridge seal on the same platform. The vehicle is no longer available for inspection. The driver was concussed with significant short-term memory loss at the scene; statements in the police report may not reflect the mechanical failure. Full police report available on request (exceeds 10 MB limit).

Check engine light with codes p0700 and p2796 has been happening for months with multiple failed repair attempts. Vehicle was returned to me by the dealer supposedly fixed. I drove it 15 minutes to the high school for an art fair my daughter was in. They (my family) rode with me home. Check engine light was on again. On the way home, the transmission was acting strange, not shifting properly. About half way home, it got stuck in a gear at 3500 or so rpms and would not shift. I tried the manual shifter, and it didn’t work. Stuck in gear. Concern was that we were approaching a hill when it did this, and I could not get the vehicle to shift to deliver the appropriate level of power I needed to ascend the hill. It thankfully did eventually shift, but it was scary for a few seconds, especially since I had my wife and all three of my kids in the vehicle. I dropped the vehicle off the next morning. It got stuck in gear at 3500 RPMS again on the way to the dealership. Two dealerships have made multiple failed attempts to fix the transmission issues. Several attempts to contact GM have gone without a response. No one in my family feels safe in the vehicle after what happened.

On April 11, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE24011 after receiving complaints concerning a loss of brake assist in 2023 MY Cadillac Lyriq vehicles. These complaints allege a hard brake pedal, followed by a “Brake System Failure” message at start up or while driving. GM shared records regarding several internal investigations for loss of brake assist due to alleged spindle fractures in the eBoost system. GM has stated that in the event of a spindle fracture, anti-lock brakes (ABS), stability control, and traction control remain functional until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. At this point, ABS, brake assist, stability control, and traction control functions are lost. The loss of these functions causes the vehicle to set one of three Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) based on failed performance criteria for the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). These DTCs, in turn, activate several driver alerts: an audible chime, a visual “Service Brake System” message in the display, and multiple illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lights (MILs) for the ABS, Traction Control, and Brakes informing the driver of loss of functionality. The vehicle speed will also be limited to 70 KPH (43 MPH). Since opening PE24011, ODI has continued to receive reports of loss of brake assist. Some of these reports describe symptoms inconsistent with GM’s description of a spindle failure. These reports allege an immediate loss of brake assist functionality as opposed to the loss occurring after the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The sudden loss of brake assist during a braking event could result in extended braking distance, which increases the risk of a crash or injury. ODI believes further analysis is necessary to assess the potential for failures in GM’s eBoost system to resulting in safety-related outcomes. At this time, ODI is aware of the following vehicles that are equipped with this eBoost system: 2023-2026 MY Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon; 2024-2026 MY Buick Enclave, Envision; Chevrolet Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Traverse; Cruise Origin; and GMC Acadia; 2025-2026 MY Cadillac Celestiq and Optiq. ODI is also aware of 2024-2026 MY Acura ZDX and 2024-2026 MY Honda Prologue vehicles that were built with this system. The Acura and Honda vehicles were manufactured by GM in a joint venture with Honda, and will be included in the Engineering Analysis as peer vehicles. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysis to further assess the safety-related consequences of a failed eBoost system. In addition, ODI is expanding the scope of the investigation to encompass all GM vehicles that share this eBoost system. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
