Remedy
Dealers will replace these rotors with rotors that are coated with a corrosion protection.
Vehicle description: multipurpose passenger vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. this IS not a safety recall in accordance with federal regulation 573. however, it IS deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. drivers can mistakenly step on the accelerator pedal when they intend to step on the brake pedal.

Vehicle description: vehicles equipped with antilock brake system (ABS). the antilock brake system (ABS) hydraulic control unit can experience excessive brake actuator piston seal wear which could cause pump-motor deterioration.
Risk and remedy
Risk
If this occurs, the ABS function would be lose and reduced power assist would be experienced during vehicle braking. the instrument panel warning lights will signal system impairment and the base manual brakes will remain functional.
Remedy
Dealers will test the vehicle's ABS and repair as necessary. the warranty on all ABS components will be extended to 10 years or 100,000 miles (except for the brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor assembly which will have a lifetime coverage). owners will be reimbursed for previous ABS component repair costs.
Improper insertion/crimping of the hose-to-end fittings of the high pressure hose on the anti-lock brake system can cause detachment of the hose from the ABS system, and discharge of hydraulic fluid.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Detachment of the hose from the ABS system causes theloss of the ABS function and hydraulic brake assist, leaving only manual brakesand decreasing stopping ability, which could result in an accident. Discharge ofhydraulic fluid in the area of the hot exhaust system could result in an enginecompartment fire.
Remedy
Replace the ABS high pressure hose.
Improperly installed brake fluid tube may allow the tube to contact the steering intermediate shaft damaging the tube.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Brake fluid leakage could occur and result in partialloss of braking capability.
Remedy
Reposition brake tube to avoid contact with steering shaft; also, replace any damaged brake tubes.
Suspension jounce bumper could contact left rear wheel brake tube when suspension IS at full jounce (bounce).
Risk and remedy
Risk
Contact at full jounce may cause the brake tube tocollapse and restrict the hydraulic brake fluid pressure to the left rear brakewhich affects the braking capability of the vehicle.
Remedy

My ABS pump has failed, and chrysler IS failing to comply with nhtsa recall #96v260000 having to do with the ABS pump. the recall clearly states that "the brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor assembly which will have a lifetime coverage". I called the chrysler recall center today, and at 5:01pm pst, sasha told me that there IS no warranty on that part, and I was denied help. The nhtsa recall clearly states otherwise. trying to find answers on the internet, I have found that other people are experiencing the same issue with chrysler denying and refusing service, because apparently this part can no longer be had. why IS their direct conflict with the stated lifetime coverage on the recall? I also learned that last year chrysler was fined $105 million by the nhtsa for mishandling recalls. If the nhtsa allows chrysler to deny this, legal responsibility may fall on both parties, as I will be continuing with legal action. *tr

I replaced my ABS pump motor on my 1991 jeep cherokee in october 2006. Mopar part number r2007515. the part has a lifetime warranty under nhtsa campaign number 96v260000. I have sent numerous submissions to be reimbursed and everytime they find some excuse not to pay. They claim it was repaired in 2001, I have the dealer invoice stating that ABS actuator was replaced. Mopar part number r4746415, not the above mentioned pump. The last time I submitted my paper work in september. They claimed not to be able to find this recall despite me giving them the recall number both the nhtsa # and chrysler recall #702. This IS getting ridiculous. Any help I can receive from you would be most advantageous. Thank you. *Tr

I recently installed new bumpstops on the rear of my jeep and noticed a decrease in braking ability. today while driving I had a sudden loss of braking power and rear ended another vehicle. while inspecting my braking system and my jeep for damage. I noticed that I had a rear brake line collapsed. I remember reading about recall 90v206000. it stated that "contact at full jounce may cause the brake tube to collapse and restrict the hydraulic brake fluid pressure to the left rear brake which affects the braking capability of the vehicle." this was quoted from this site. I read the documents that were linked, and even though my vin does not pull up the recall, which I have gone to a dealer upon buying my vehicle and had them make sure all recalls were performed. they did not say I needed the recall referenced. my jeep does meet all the other parts of the recall in terms of what vehicles were affected. *tr

This investigation was opened to examine the failure mode and the risk to motor vehicle safety posed by allegations of rear axle separations.the rear axle shaft and housing design IS typical of those in which the weight of the vehicle IS carried on the axle housing.the left and right axle shafts, supported by roller bearings, are situated inside the axle housing.the inboard splined end of the axle shaft receives power transmitted from the differential assembly, providing torque to the rear wheels.the allegations are that the axle shaft fails, resulting in the separation of a wheel and axle hub assembly or the entire axle shaft and wheel assembly, depending on the location of the axle shaft failure.as identified by chrysler, the subject rear axles are dana 35C and 35CM models, which have been used on the subject vehicles since the 1990 model year.a safety defect trend with respect to the subject axle shafts has not been identified.see hard copy resume for full text of summary.
