Suspension arm detachment can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the front suspension knuckles and install a retaining bracket or replace the knuckle, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2026. Owners may contact Land Rover's customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's numbers for this recall are D019, N759, D041, and D027. This recall expands and replaces previous NHTSA recall number 24V840.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ranger Rover and 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport vehicles. Due to a problem with the Keyless Vehicle Latching System (KV Latch), the doors may appear to be closed but may be unlatched.

If a hole is worn into the brake vacuum hose, a complete loss of braking assistance could occur, lengthening the distance required to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

In the affected vehicles, due to insufficient clearance, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) connector located in the driver and front passenger side seat of the vehicle may become disconnected.
Risk and remedy
Risk
If the connector becomes disconnected, the driver and/or passenger seat side air bag may not function. In the event of a crash necessitating side air bag deployment, the seat occupant is at an increased risk of injury.
Remedy
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will modify the area around the connector to prevent it from becoming disconnected, free of charge. The recall began on January 16, 2014. Customers may contact Land Rover at 1-800-637-6837, Option 9. Land Rover's number for this recall is P037.

The steel fuel tank shield on my 2014 Range Rover Supercharged (L405) is completely rusted through. This part is not a cosmetic cover. It cradles and supports the fuel tank and protects it from road debris. The corrosion appears to be galvanic, caused by the steel shield being mounted in contact with aluminum body and chassis components, which accelerates corrosion of the steel. The rest of the underbody is in comparatively good condition, which points to a design defect rather than neglect. The vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request. Because the shield holds the tank in place, continued deterioration can let the tank sag, shift, or detach while driving. With the shield rotted through, the tank is also exposed to road debris that could puncture it, causing a fuel leak and fire risk to me, my passengers, and other drivers. Loose or jagged sections of the shield could also fall onto the roadway. I identified the failure during an inspection of the vehicle's underside. This is a widely reported L405 problem. Owners on multiple Land Rover forums describe fuel tank shields rusted out on otherwise clean vehicles, and other NHTSA complaints describe the same galvanic corrosion failure. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps, messages, or driving symptoms. The damage is only visible from underneath the vehicle, so an owner has no way to know the tank's support is compromised without putting it on a lift.

We first received notice of the recall on December 18, 2024. The front right suspension knuckle joint was making a clicking noise for several weeks and has now cracked and detached the suspension arm on the front right wheel. Thus making my car completely unsafe to drive. The manufacturer gave me an unclear answers for an extended period of time. They have now confirmed that the part is on back order and unavailable to order and they don’t know when it will be available to order. At this point, I don’t feel safe driving my car. I need the manufacturer, Land Rover, to either buy back my vehicle or to give me a rental or loaner car for the foreseeable future, until they are able to repair my car or replace my car altogether. I live in Woodland Hills, CA and there are two dealerships in close proximity which are available to provide a solution for me. I am a mother and I have three small children. This is our family’s primary car for daily transportation for my children to and from school and all activities. It is imperative that this is addressed immediately.

Land Rover has been made aware through several complaints that there is a widespread issue with their vehicles that requires recall. Thousands of customers have reported issues in their vehicles with cylinder 4 cracked pistons resulting in engine failure. Land Rover refuses to address the issue in their vehicles causing this malfunction and costly vehicle repair. Land Rover needs to issue a recall to address and rectify this issue in their vehicles as this issue results in the vehicle losing speed and coming to a complete halt with no warning from the vehicle. The vehicle does not display any warnings even if dangerously low on oil - no warning sign will display. This could result in death of multiple people and cause crashes. It is highly dangerous and needs to be addressed by Land Rover with urgency.

It is becoming very apparent that the front, Left and Right Steering Knuckle on these cars are failing due to cracks forming and in some instances the wheel breaking free from the car. This is a death trap for the cars affected and Range Rover needs to step up in the U.S., like they did in the UK and recall these and have them replaced. Thank you

This crack will result in a catastrophic failure of the knuckle as has been experienced by many owners of this type of vehicle. (see [XXX] ). This has resulted in serious accidents even at low speed. I found this issue on my vehicle during a routine check before a road trip. the crack is such that this will fail at any moment. I am entering this case BEFORE i have a serious accident, and will have to get the vehicle repaired at my cost given that the manufacturer will not recognize this issue. This is said to be a known issue says the dealership but not covered under any circumstances even though they detailed my car after having for two months trying to fix my brakes with no airbag issues and now I have this airbag light on and issue with my airbags. But it’s also a known safety issue flaw I was told by the manager at the mission viejo ca dealership ! Unacceptable!

The contact’s husband owned a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated while driving at 40 MPH in the rain, she moved into the slow lane as another vehicle was passing her vehicle, the vehicle started sliding back and forth, felt unstable, and was heading towards the median lane. The contact stated that as she extended her body and was moving her dog from the front passenger’s side seat onto the floorboard, the vehicle flipped a total of 8 times and landed upside down. The contact stated that an unknown door of the vehicle flew open in that process. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V387000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The air bags deployed. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The emergency units arrived at the scene and provided first aid to the contact. The contact sought medical assistance and it was diagnosed that the contact’s gallbladder threw a stone that was blocking a bile duck. The contact underwent two emergency gallbladder surgeries. Additionally, the contact sustained neck and shoulder injuries that aggravated a preexisting condition. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The contact notified the Porsche dealer where the vehicle was purchased but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

My door locks are failing and land rover / range rover IS telling me it has nothing to do with your prior investigation, recall or other. first, I couldn't get my passenger door to lock, then it suddenly started working again. now, I can't get my driver side to lock, and my passenger IS fine. land rover claims they already updated my "software" but I think it's something much more detailed than that, as there are literally 1000's of people asking on the internet about the exact same problem. not sure if this will result in my doors flying open suddenly, as has been documented in prior cases with nhtsa for my year range rover - but I truly feel as if they know about a problem with their door actuators, software and locks but are unwilling to fix them in their dealership under recall or warranty. several dealers have noted for my vin, they've developed new actuators because of flaws in previous versions and want me to spend upwards of $2K to have replacements.

During a rolling start, such as rolling start to perform a u-turn or merging into a highway, the acceleration IS delayed by at least 2 seconds, which IS very dangerous. Especially during merging on to the freeway the 2 seconds acceleration lag could send false information to the other cars and made me almost crash for a few times. it should be a transmission or engine management software update to address this issue.

Roof trim piece blew off while driving down the road. Heard a bang noise on my roof and when I pulled over I saw my passenger roof trim strip had blown off. Was only going 40 mph.

When accelerating from a stop while turning either right or left there IS a skipping/grinding noise coming from under vehicle around the transfer case. I've had the fluids flushed but noise still remains. Seems to be worse when under more torque like going up a hill.

While traveling approximately 15 mph (inside my subdivision as was only leaving the my garage to commute into work) and making a right hand turn, the left side passenger door opened by itself. initially unaware of this (inside lights did not turn on, nor the passenger dash highlighting any information) I continued to drive, only to have the now open door smash into a brick column which was to the left side of me. I immediately pulled to the right to assess what was happening and found that the door was dented and scratched but now the door latch was now engaged and the door not able to close. thankfully my 8 month old daughter, who usually sits on this side of the car was not with me. I am extremely alarmed and concerned that the door could become opened by itself and now understand that this matter IS being investigated by nhtsa due to others having had similar issues. I want to document that I too have had this happen to me and am doing my best now to work with land rover directly to assist me in fixing the issue, including the root cause and body work. however, the dealer representative IS already suggesting no fault by the vehicle.

I believe this recall should be extended to all 2013-2014 model year range rovers. When my airbag light turned on, I was immediately concerned and rushed to the dealer to have the issue inspected. Upon dealer investigation, I was told that the light turns on and off. Often the light will remain on. Other times, the light will remain for an extended period of time and then turn off and finally at odd times it will remain off. I was informed by a dealer that this IS a common issue with the 2013-14 model year range rovers however the manufacturer has limited the original recall to 3,912. While I have contacted the manufacturer to have them resolve this issue. I have requested the dealership to order the part which I was informed will take over 3 weeks to receive. This IS the second full week.

ODI opened PE25006 on June 27, 2025, after receiving 12 Vehicle Owner's Questionnaire (VOQ) reports of the front aluminum steering knuckles fracturing in these vehicles. The reports describe the fractures occurring at the joint where the steering knuckle attaches to the upper control arm ball joint in one or both steering knuckles. Fracture of the front suspension knuckle can lead to detachment of the upper suspension arm. Detachment of the upper suspension arm results in the driver’s inability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. ODI reviewed information supplied by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in response to Information Request letters as well as reviewed the data with JLR on numerous occasions. ODI further reviewed relevant data on a peer vehicle with a significantly similar steering knuckle design, the MY 2014 through 2017 Range Rover. Much of the information is contradictory and requires a deeper analysis that is available in an Engineering Analysis. On August 5, 2025, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) filed safety recall 25V514. This recall covers certain MY 2014 and all MY 2015-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The remedy for recall 25V514 addresses knuckles with and without a visible fracture. Knuckles that have developed a visible fracture will be replaced with a new knuckle of a substantially similar design. Knuckles with no fracture visibly present will have a brace attached to the upper portion of the front steering knuckle. JLR states that the purpose of the brace is to prevent the component from completely separating should a fracture develop. NHTSA continues to receive allegations of fractures occurring in the front steering knuckles of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. Two of the most recent VOQs received by ODI involve front steering knuckle fractures occurring on MY 2020 and MY 2021 Range Rover L405 vehicles. ODI will continue to investigate the component design and assess the potential safety risk as part of this Engineering Analysis and evaluate the recall remedies for Recall 25V514. Further, the scope of this Engineering Analysis will be expanded to include MY 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles as they have a substantially similar component design. From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.

On May 24, 2019, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (JLR) submitted two Part 573 letters to NHTSA describing door latch defects that could result in doors opening while driving in certain model year (MY) 2013-2016 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles equipped with JLR?s Unilatch Keyless Vehicle (KV) entry system.Recall 19V-392 (JLR Recall N335) describes a KV lever binding defect in approximately 65,385 MY 2013-2016 Range Rover and MY 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport vehicles built between May 9, 2012 and March 5, 2015. Moisture intrusion may result in KV motor bearing corrosion, which may prevent the KV lever from returning to the home position and prevent the latch pawl from properly engaging the latch claw. Vehicles recalled under 19V-392 will be checked for a pre-existing error state and mechanically disabled if an error is detected. If no error is detected, the vehicles will receive a software update that will disable the KV entry function on the vehicle.Recall 19V-390 (JLR Recall N336) describes a defect in the KV latching system of left-side doors in approximately 28,671 MY 2016 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles built between October 1, 2015 and May 27, 2016. A spring in the KV latching system may jam between the outside transmission lever and chamfer bush, preventing the latch assembly from returning to its correct position and fully latching the door. Vehicles recalled under 19V-390 will have the left-side latch assemblies replaced with assemblies that meet the engineering specification.ODI?s analysis of consumer complaints and field reports identified a total of 161 latch failures in the subject vehicles, including 57 involving doors opening with the vehicle in motion. The analysis found that 157 of the latch complaints and 56 of the door opening in motion incidents involve vehicles and latch assemblies covered under Recalls 19V-390 and 19V-392. On June 11, 2015, Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) to NHTSA describing a defect condition in the electronically controlled door latch systems of approximately 65,372 model year (MY) 2013-2016 Range Rover and MY 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport that may result in incidents of door opening while driving (NHTSA Recall No. 15V-385, JLR Recall P068).On August 4, 2017, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query RQ17-005 to investigate claims of doors failing to latch and/or inadvertently opening while driving (latch malfunctions) on MY 2013-2016 Range Rover and MY 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport vehicles that had received the remedy for 15V-385 or were built after the recall remedy had been implemented in production (the subject vehicles). ODI has received 5 unique reports (VOQs) related to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles. All five VOQs allege experiencing at least one incident of a door opening inadvertently while the vehicle was in motion and were repaired by replacing the malfunctioning latch assembly. One minor injury was reported where the consumer did not seek medical care.ODI's analysis of information provided by JLR in response to the Information Request (IR) letter for RQ17-005 identified 43 additional complaints and field reports related to door latch malfunctions in the subject vehicles, including 14 additional allegations that a door opened while the vehicle was in motion. In addition, ODI's analysis of JLR warranty claim data provided in the IR response identified an additional 564 vehicles that received latch replacements to address customer concerns with latch malfunctions, including 72 additional incidents of doors opening while in motion based on ODI's analysis of customer concern narratives.ODI has upgraded this investigation to an Engineering Analysis (EA18-004) to further assess the recall remedy, scope, and frequency.
