A rearview camera image that does not display while in reverse decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the rearview camera and add a new seal or replace the camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed to Range Rover owners March 4, 2024. Interim notification letters were mailed to Range Rover Sport owners March 7, 2024. Range Rover Sport owners will receive a second notice once remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N778.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles equipped with Continental Surround Camera Systems. The back-up camera system may fail to display the rearview image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Failure to display the rearview image will reduce the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the infotainment system software, free of charge. The recall began October 2, 2019. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N367.
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2018 Land Rover Range Rover, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery vehicles. The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system may be disabled without warning the driver that the system is not functional.

Remedy

In October 2026, I discovered substantial water intrusion inside my Range Rover. An independent automotive mechanic has diagnosed a failure of the sunroof drainage system as the source of the water intrusion. The damage is extensive and includes: Factory audio amplifier Interior carpeting and underlying materials Headliner Electronic seat control modules Potential additional damage to wiring, connectors, and electrical components that remains to be fully assessed The failure occurred without prior warning. By the time the problem became apparent, water had already entered the vehicle and damaged multiple expensive components. I am particularly concerned because independently documented technical reports describe similar sunroof drainage failures affecting the L405-generation Range Rover, including deterioration or corrosion of drain fittings and subsequent water damage to the vehicle's interior and electrical systems. This raises legitimate questions about the durability and design of the drainage system, as well as Jaguar Land Rover's knowledge of recurring failures affecting this vehicle platform. A sunroof drainage system is an essential part of protecting a vehicle from ordinary rainfall. I do not believe an owner of a premium luxury vehicle should reasonably expect a concealed drainage component to fail without warning and cause extensive damage to interior materials and sensitive electronic systems.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message flashing forward alert not available, brake assist not available, transmission fault, AEB not available, HDC not available were displayed. Additionally, the stability control, forward alert not available, Emergency brake assist not available, and transmission fault warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on several occasions after restarting the vehicle, the warning lights were no longer displayed; however, the transmission malfunctioned, and the vehicle failed to immediately drive forward. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and was diagnosed with engine failure. The engine was replaced, but after retrieving the vehicle, the failures immediately reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The cause of the failures was not yet determined. The failure mileage was 67,000

Following a routine oil and filter service and starter motor replacement at an authorized Land Rover dealer, the engine seized within 21 miles of vehicle delivery. The vehicle was brought to the dealer for a no-start condition. A prior independent shop had evaluated the vehicle and found exclusively electrical issues — no engine, fluid, or cooling concerns. The dealer performed a multi-point inspection confirming no fluid leaks and no engine concerns. The dealer then performed an oil and filter service and starter motor replacement. The dealer's own technician notes state the vehicle was started and the concern was confirmed rectified. One mile was driven across nine days of service. Fourteen minutes after taking delivery, warning lights appeared. The following morning, a RED Engine Overheating warning illuminated. The engine seized shortly thereafter, rendering the vehicle inoperable on a public road. The dealer confirmed in writing: spun bearing, rod knock, and metal shavings throughout the engine. The dealer's Service Manager also confirmed in writing that drained oil is not examined for metal contamination as part of their standard oil change procedure. A bearing in pre-failure condition sheds metal particulate into engine oil. This metal contamination would have been detectable in the drained oil had it been examined. The vehicle is currently inoperable and in the dealer's custody. The component is available for inspection upon request. Warning lamps appeared 14 minutes post-delivery. No warning lamps were present before the service visit. Problem has been confirmed by the dealer.

The infotainment system in this 2018 Range Rover has exhibited a recurring defect since at least January 2026. The defect manifests in multiple ways: the upper screen intermittently goes blank, the lower screen has been observed stuck flashing, and audio output skips and varies in speed during playback. The system integrates with the rear camera display, audible alerts, and climate controls, so a malfunction affects functions relied upon during vehicle operation, including rear visibility when reversing. The component is available for inspection upon request. On June 15, 2026, while driving on a freeway, the upper screen went blank momentarily without warning. The blackout occurred during normal driving conditions, with no prior warning lamps or alerts, and was unsettling under the circumstances. The vehicle remained controllable, but the incident raised a safety concern because a sudden display blackout at freeway speed is a distraction risk, and because the system is integrated with safety-relevant display and alert functions. The defect has been presented to the authorized dealer multiple times since January 2026. The January service order documented the concern as a continuation of issues following a prior recall and was classified as a warranty matter. The dealer reported being unable to reproduce the defect during a road test. The vehicle was returned for the same concern in April 2026. The dealer's records note updates performed to the IPC, ICDM, AAM, and IDMA modules and again report inability to duplicate the concern despite multiple video recordings of the defect previously submitted to the service department. The defect has continued to manifest after the April service visit, including the June 15 freeway incident. The dealer's repeated inability to reproduce the defect during diagnostic visits does not reflect the actual behavior of the system in regular driving use, where the defect occurs intermittently and without warning. Repeated issues of low cooling warning leading to engine overheating - severely resulting in tow in. Prior Land Rover dealer repair (prior to my purchase under certified warranty) was inadequate, causing coolant crossovers in front and rear to be cracked. Engine overheated steamed close to home, and vehicle towed in to LR dealer in area. Took two months to repair and at time, they thought engine was blown, but assured me repairs complete. Within 6 months, same warning light, took to LR Dallas dealer and said no issue. Within 13 months of major repair, taken into LR Dallas dealer, and now told I need a brand new engine. Repeated repairs the same engine defect, issue and now LR won't repair under warranty (now) when I was told a few weeks ago, they would repair with new engine. Now, have a completely worthless car, that was certified 2.75 years ago. Total shop time for all this 5 months and counting.

There's problem with the wiring harness under the drivers seat, causing a fault in the airbag sensor, and the airbag warning light to illuminate. If you look online, many owners are having this same isssue. I have had this Airbag warning light illuminating off and on my 2018 Range Rover for over 6 months now. When I raise the seat to its highest position and "wiggle" the wire harness, the airbag warning light on the dashboard will extinguish. Thank you google! and the many owners with this problem for spelling out the work around! I had the same problem with my wife's 2015 Range Rover Sport (Vin [XXX] ). Unfortunately, I didn't know the work around and the Range Rover Dealership charge me $1500 for a new wiring harness. The Danger is the vehicle's airbag may not work in the event of a head on collision. Range Rover should be forced to inspect/replace all airbag wiring harnesses under the drivers seat. 2018 Land Rover Range Rover HSE V6, AWD. Two issues: 1.) When shifting into reverse, the rear camera does not come up on the main screen and you have to shift back into park, wait a few seconds and then shift back into reverse. Sometimes it may take 2-3 times to do this for the rear camera to come up on the screen. I am running the latest software/firmware version that Range Rover has automatically sent out (checked by clicking on "update software" and it says you have the latest). 2.) When the rear camera does come up, there is a noticeable, choppy lag of the frame rate on the screen. This means that while you are moving, the lag on the screen is delayed and is not real time while you are reversing. This is extremely dangerous as approaching cars or potential humans could come into your reverse path and you won't notice it until it's too late due to the lag/delay of the camera.

One or more rigid pipes in the coolant system failed when driving down the interstate. This resulted in almost immediate overheating and the computer curtailed engine power, apparently to prevent permanent engine damage. This was very dangerous, as I was in heavy 80+ mph traffic and lost power before I could pull off onto the shoulder. This is apparently a common problem, as the rigid pipes separate at the manufacturing seam. I was still under warranty, and Land Rover had us towed to the closest dealer which was 75 miles away. That dealer told me they had two other Land Rovers in the shop with the same identical problem, and that these pipes fail "by 50,000 miles every time" (I was at 47,500 miles). The pipes in question are on all the 5.0 liter V8's used in Land Rover and Jaguar products, but the failure seems more common on Supercharged versions of the V8 (which I have). The pipes are under the supercharger and subjected to excessive heat/cool cycling which leads to failure.

In December 2020, this vehicle had been parked for approximately 30 minutes; after starting the vehicle, the "Power Steering Electronic Assist" light came on; there was no power steering available and it was almost impossible to steer the car. The car was towed to the Land Rover dealer; after 2-3 weeks, the repair was completed. They had to replace a wiring harness to the electronic power steering. We were never told why the harness failed. On November 15, 2021, the same issue occurred. The car had been parked for about an hour. Upon starting, the "Power Steering Electronic Assist" light came on again. Again, it was almost impossible to steer the car. Again, it was towed to the Land Rover dealer. Today, November 19, 2021 I was shown the problem with the wiring harness. Apparently, mice had chewed through the plastic wiring harness conduit and then into six wires of the harness itself. Since damage wasn't as bad as it was the previous year, the service department was able to splice wires back together to make the vehicle drivable again. This vehicle is parked outside in a parking lot 24*7, 365 days per year. There is no garage available. While we were lucky that the failure occurred when the vehicle was parked, we shutter to wonder what would have happened if the power steering had failed on the open highway traveling 70 MPH, or even in town at slower speeds. It is almost physically impossible to turn the wheels without power steering. I believe Land Rover should come up with a beefier wiring harness that is less subject to failure because of mice or other rodents who may chew on the wiring. I am submitting this although I am not the vehicle's owner. I am his son-in-law. He decided to sell the vehicle immediately after the second incident due to the unreliability of the vehicle.

Vehicle went from park to reverse by itself. Drivers door was wide open when my wife started vehicle and by it self it engaged in reverse and ran the door into a wall. The vehicle almost ran over my wife while she was attempting to exit the vehicle. Luckily she was able to jump back in and push the brake to stop the car. My son was behind the car loading items. Luckily he had moved seconds before.

With fewer than 15K miles on it, the land rover windshield has retained four rock chips and a long crack across the front windshield glass with normal driving. This pilkington glass IS extremely fragile and dangerous. I have contacted land rover and my local fort worth dealer because it IS inside warranty period and I feel this IS a safety issue. The windshield sustains damage outside the expected damage from the tiniest bit of gravel. This I my fifth land rover and my third windshield to replace. I have brought this to land rover's attention, but they continue to refer to it as "an insurance claim" though I am presenting it as a safety issue & asking that it be addressed in some meaningful way. The car was in regular highway traffic, travelling well behind other traffic when all three rock chips and crack occurred. land rover service manager, robert smiley, has repeatedly tried to hand this problem back to land rover. Rather than look at the issue, they've referred it back to him and he has done nothing to address it for over a month. I was not offered a loaner, but told that "if [you] don't feel safe, then don't drive the car." mr. Smiley, joe quanguan, and land rover have treated my concerns about the safety of this window as a joke. I would like someone to address it and to document that this glass conforms to the standards placed upon imports by the us, if such standards exist.

Rotary controller for gear was in park position. driver exited the vehicle with driver door open and both feet on ground when vehicle suddenly shifted into reverse gear. driver was unable to jump back into vehicle to press on brakes and was forced under the open vehicle door. occupants including a baby were in the back seat. vehicle crashed into a building with driver door impact bending forward to slow the crash before striking a tree and coming to stop. vehicle IS a total loss with frame and roof damage, pillar damage extensive front/side and rear damage, door was nearly torn off hinge.

Purchased land rover 04/28/2018. as of 07/30/2019 it had 13,000 miles on the odometer. ' regular maintenance for vehicle followed, all at dealership, h&h land rover dealership, omaha, ne ' a drive down to overland park, ks from omaha on interstate 29. ' at approximately 10:40am on 07/30/2019, while traveling on I-29 (southbound), the vehicle lost power (at 70mph) the merge to the breakdown lane. the vehicle had 13,000 miles on it. Pulled over at mile marker 71. - at this point vehicle IS in park and stationary. ' while on cell phone to ask for help with triple aaa, a "popping sound followed by hissing" was heard to the rear of the vehicle, this sound was similar to what you may hear when a tire blows. at this time we could smell smoke and burning rubber. this IS when the engine was immediately shut off. ' a good citizen pulled over, in front of our vehicle, and started to run towards our vehicle. driver still inside of vehicle not realizing that it was on fire. fire was under rear under carriage. later determined the citizen noticed the fire and wanted to make sure no one was in the vehicle. ' driver of burning vehicle opened door and looked towards the rear of vehicle to see large flames coming from undercarriage.

As a result, the vehicle rolled into the right lane and almost crashed into another vehicle. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to land rover palm beach (7550 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, (561) 209-7000) where the mechanic test drove the vehicle and found no failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 2,400. The vin was unknown.

Had a tire blowout at 5K miles. rt 75 alligator alley in swfl. Cruise control at 72mph. no debris in roadway. No punctures in tire. no other vehicles around or would have resulted in very bad accident. Tire pressure monitoring system failed to tell me that my tires were 4LBS over the maximum normal psi range. land rover chgs tire said everything IS fine. One week later all 4 tires are still at 4 lbs over the second file was taken today 1 week after they adjusted tire pressure. Still over inflated with no warning. recommend psi and no warnings came on to tell me.

ODI opened PE25006 on June 27, 2025, after receiving 12 Vehicle Owner's Questionnaire (VOQ) reports of the front aluminum steering knuckles fracturing in these vehicles. The reports describe the fractures occurring at the joint where the steering knuckle attaches to the upper control arm ball joint in one or both steering knuckles. Fracture of the front suspension knuckle can lead to detachment of the upper suspension arm. Detachment of the upper suspension arm results in the driver’s inability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. ODI reviewed information supplied by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in response to Information Request letters as well as reviewed the data with JLR on numerous occasions. ODI further reviewed relevant data on a peer vehicle with a significantly similar steering knuckle design, the MY 2014 through 2017 Range Rover. Much of the information is contradictory and requires a deeper analysis that is available in an Engineering Analysis. On August 5, 2025, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) filed safety recall 25V514. This recall covers certain MY 2014 and all MY 2015-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The remedy for recall 25V514 addresses knuckles with and without a visible fracture. Knuckles that have developed a visible fracture will be replaced with a new knuckle of a substantially similar design. Knuckles with no fracture visibly present will have a brace attached to the upper portion of the front steering knuckle. JLR states that the purpose of the brace is to prevent the component from completely separating should a fracture develop. NHTSA continues to receive allegations of fractures occurring in the front steering knuckles of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. Two of the most recent VOQs received by ODI involve front steering knuckle fractures occurring on MY 2020 and MY 2021 Range Rover L405 vehicles. ODI will continue to investigate the component design and assess the potential safety risk as part of this Engineering Analysis and evaluate the recall remedies for Recall 25V514. Further, the scope of this Engineering Analysis will be expanded to include MY 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles as they have a substantially similar component design.
