For about a year occasionally when I put my van in park it rolls away mostly within approx.5 seconds thankfully all the times this happened I was able to jump back in to hit the brake pedal. I told the dealer the problem about 1 month ago they looked into it and said they could not find any problem.Yesterday for the first time my van rolled out of park approx.3 minutes later and collided with my other vehicle.I was able to see this happen and the time it took to roll away in park do to the fact I have video surveillance.I am at this point putting a chock behind the tire til I can figure out what to do.

Two separate incidents where wheel speed sensors failed. One in June 2022; one in September 2023. This disables antilock braking (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), forward collision warning (FCW), brake force distribution and cruise control. Almost all safety features are disabled. Previously a safety recall has been implemented for the 5 ton Mercedes Sprinter model (3500), for these same faulty wheel sensors. Service for these Sprinters is difficult to schedule when traveling with an upfitted Class B (Roadtrek) RV like ours. The sensors are covered for replacement with our 10-year extension warranty for the emissions system, but only after failing. This places the driver + occupant (s) at risk until an available service center can be found and an appointment scheduled. Please issue a safety recall so we can have our remaining 2 wheel speed sensors replaced prior to failure.

I noticed a recall for the mb sprinter 2500 - year 2015-2020 with a leaking power steering clamp/hose.(20v-663) my van IS not included in this recall despite being a 2015 mb sprinter 2500. I had this part replaced on my van two weeks ago. Please dig deeper into the vans as there are other vins that are being affected by this exact same issue that are not being included in the recall. I had to replace the drive belt too as the power steering fluid was leaking on that belt.
On 10/15/2018 while driving the vehicle I began experiencing fluctuations in speed, what felt to be at times a slipping transmission, difficulty breaking, and inexplicable warnings on my dash message board, and a feeling of a loss of control of the vehicle. I had the vehicle towed from tunica, ms. To memphis, tn. To tag truck center, a certified repair center for sprinters, where they diagnosed a fault in the right rear wheel speed sensor. they replaced the rpm sensor. the cost for the repair was $494.20. at the time I had 23,029 miles on the vehicle, but the repair was not covered by a vehicle warranty.
TL* the contact owns a 2015 mercedes-benz sprinter 2500. While parking on a hill with the emergency brake applied, the brake failed and the vehicle struck a curb in reverse. There were no warning indicators illuminated. At a later date, while driving 35 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise and the rear wheels seized. The contact was able to park the vehicle on the side the road. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of hanover (located at 1877 washington st, hanover, ma 02339, (781) 924-4200) where it was diagnosed that a spring had fractured and the emergency brake assembly needed to be replaced. Takata recall: received notice approximately 6 months ago. san francisco dealer still does not have the parts to correct problem. I don't know if it IS safe to drive the vehicle and no one can or IS willing to give me that assurance. should I not drive it?
My air conditioning system went out at 90K it's a very common problem for this vehicle according to my mechanic. The ac compressor stopped working causing a $3000 bill then to make matters worse the new one broke down 1Y later then then 2ND one broke after just 3 months of being isolated. now the 3RD one IS out and then warranty won't cover it because it was only for 2Y . I'm so frustrated about mercedes not issuwing a recall or something that will help owners like me of been stuck with a huge repair bill and frustration

The vehicle had a leak through the roof mounted rear a/c unit. This leak allows water into an area with electrical connections and onto passenger's. only through a goodwill repair was this repair completed because my factory warranty IS expired and my extended warranty won't cover such a repair.
Dealership stated they did not have the parts to complete the recall when taken in back in february 2017. which was not noted on the invoice.
I have a mb 2015 sprinter passenger van with 14,345 miles. The vehicle has kumho road venture atp/m 245/75r16 tires. On a family trip this summer the right rear tire started to cause a jumping vibration. It was caused by tire belt separation. This issue placed my wife and my two 9 year old children along with others in harms way. I have seen in websites all the issues of tire belt separation kumho tires are having. At this point I have the vehicle sitting in y driveway until I can get a resolution to this problem. Kumho should be held accountable for all these tire issues and be responsible to correct the problem to all the customers who have this issue.
TL* the contact owns a 2015 mercedes-benz sprinter 2500. While the vehicle was at the dealer for inspection, it was discovered that the diesel particular filter was fractured. The chassis connecting bracket failed and fractured the diesel particular filter. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer advised that the warranty was expired and the repair cost would not be covered. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
The 2015 mercedes-benz sprinter cruise control shows no icon when activated. The cruise control, lever IS located close to the turn single switch and has a similar design. Making it easy to activate by mistake. The design I believe IS not a the problem. Benz has used this layout for years on all vehicles. The fact that the driver IS not informed IS a safety problem. I questioned mercedes about this and was told, the 2016 models have a icon that does show the system IS on. Including showing set speed. but it does not stay on. Simply put it shows icon and speed when activated but only for a second or so. This I feel IS also a safety problem. please understand this IS not a complaint about anything but the lack of information the vehicle extends to the driver. I have and will continue to believe mercedes IS a leader in auto safety. Its hard for me to believe with today's technology, benz over looked this. mercedes has offered me no form of resolve. so I request, on behalf of all sprinter owners with cruise control that the nhtsa looks into this. Please inform about your feelings on this. thank you . *tr
On thursday july 9TH after 9:00 pm, I was driving up route 8 in virginia from north carolina and my power steering went out. My van has suffered from substantial noise and vibration between 1600 and 2000 rpm on slight grades since the day after I purchased it. With just shy of 20,000 miles on the van, much of it going up and down grades, it IS my perception that the power steering fluid hose vibrated lose. Almost 500 hours of driving, just shy of 20,000 miles in temps that varied from lows of 40 to highs of 110, and consistent vibrations during the specified rpm and the hose vibrated loose and lost power. The vibrations are a known issue for sprinter 4X4'S and they have tried to address the issue unsuccessfully with dampening and thicker leaf springs. This remains ineffective and now, dangerous. I am gravely concerned that other items in this 4X4 model van could come loose, or worse someone on a mountain pass could lose control as I did and cause a fatal accident. Due to the 4X4 system and the desire of it's owners to drive to remote places, I feel this warrants an immediate investigation to protect the owners where diamler vans has clearly decided not to manage it's safety. If anyone had come down the switchbacks on route 8, neither of us would have had enough time or space to avoid and accident. I was incredible lucky. I was forced to drive across the road lines to move the van as I could not control the steering. I feared for my life until I got to the top of the switch back and was able to pull over on relatively straight flat ground. The trailer I was towing suffered as I was not able to articulate the van on the road such that it did not go off the road and hit trees and embankment.. .Updated 07/21/15 *bf.....updated 08/12/15 *bf the consumer stated the suspension was replaced. However, it did not resolve the vibration issue. ...updated 9/24/2015 *js

The dealer stated that they were not equipped with the tools to perform the recall repairs. A second authorized dealer was contacted, who indicated that the part was not available and the contact was placed on a waiting list with no estimated timeframe as to when the repair would be performed. The manufacturer was contacted and they were not able to provide a reasonable timeframe to indicate when the part and appointment would be scheduled. The contact had not experienced a failure.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) analyzed complaint data provided by Daimler Vans USA, LLC (Daimler) as well as complaints submitted to ODI from consumers to identify incidents related to Rear Wheel Speed Sensors (RWSS) failures. ODI's analysis identified 6,710 incidents of RWSS failure (unique VINs) in MY 2012-2018 Mercedes- Benz and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles upfitted to campers or recreational vehicles (RVs) representing 81 percent of all Sprinter RWSS reports. Complaint and warranty analysis indicated that the majority of incidents (approximately 99%) were related to RWSS moisture intrusion condition in the Sprinter 3500 5-ton variant, which accounts for 98 percent of upfit campers, where moisture build-up and crystal dendrite formation develop in parked RVs and lead to sensor failures. According to the Daimler Information Request (IR) response, if the wheel speed information is detected as implausible by the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control unit, the ESP system enters a failsafe mode where:-Driver torque requests are no longer accepted;-Cruise control, if used, would be deactivated; -The ESP/ABS system shuts off; and -Multiple warning lamps and messages advise the operator to take the vehicle to the workshop. While the majority of reports involved only ABS and/or ESP warning lights and messages on the instrument cluster due to faulty sensor signals triggering a failsafe mode, some reports cited intermittent sensor failures resulting in increased vehicle speed while in cruise control and degraded ABS or ESP. Degraded ESP functionality may impact driving stability of the 5-ton vehicle. On Feb 3, 2021, following discussion with ODI, Daimler submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) to NHTSA describing a defect in the RWSS disabling the ESP control unit functions in approximately 48,667 MY 2012 through 2018 Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter 3500 vehicles manufactured from Jan 4, 2012 through Oct 25, 2018 (Recall 21V-042). In its DIR, Daimler indicated that RWSS sensor failures are prevalent in camper vans due to sustained periods of non-use, during which time the moisture may not dry out, remaining inside the plastic housing package. If the moisture within the RWSS dries and the RWSS returns to normal operation, the failsafe mode and the warning lights will disappear at the next ignition cycle, but the sensor fault remains stored within the ESP control unit and can be accessed through a diagnostic evaluation. ODI will continue to monitor field experience in Sprinter non-RVs and Sprinter 2500 RVs 3-ton and 3.5-ton variants (approximately 626 vehicles).Daimler will notify owners of the recalled vehicles and advise them to take their vehicle to a Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealer, who will replace the RWSS with a repackaged sensor with high robustness against moisture intrusion. Daimler began notifying dealers and owners in Feb 2021. This Preliminary Evaluation is closed. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under the following ID numbers:11352380 11351299 11350521 11348969 11342776 11342464 11341988 11341151 11340388 11338230 11337921 11331832 11331829 11331476 11331427 11331066 11328671 11325768 11325693 11322814 11322346 11320295 11319376 11317336 11311647 11310621 11308318 11254223 11253828 11252220 11196530 11194330 11164250 11145019 11141273 11139000 11138785 11124129 11094122 11394837 11390889 11390039 11389262 11387883 11387713 11386418 11383887 11383866 11382947 11377384 11376615 11376973 11375781 11375403 11374997 11374151 11373892 11373111 11366293 11365920 11365594 11365355 11365194 11364253 11364346 11363990 11363787 11362948 113629
