Ride control IS recalling certain front strut mounts branded as gabriel ride control or arvinmeritor, p/nos. 142435, 142193, 142305, 142303, sold as replacement equipment for the vehicles listed above. the affected front strut mounts did not contain a weld joint between the bearing housing and the rate plate.
Risk and remedy
Risk
The absence of the weld can allow the strut to come out of its mounting position under certain extreme driving conditions which could cause damage to surrounding vehicle components increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ride control will notify owners of record and replace the affected parts free of charge. the safety recall began on march 15, 2010. owners may contact ride control at 1-248-458-1396.
Certain pro-a motors corner lamps, turn signals, and headlights sold as replacement lamps for use on certain passenger vehicles listed above. some combination lamps that are not equipped with amber side reflectors fail to conform to federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Without the amber reflectors, the vehicle will be poorly illuminated, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash without warning.
Remedy
Pro-a motors will notify owners and offer to repurchase the lamps. the recall began on april 3, 2006. owners may contact pro-a motors at 323-838-2988.
Nissan IS recalling my 1994 and early 1995 altima vehicles following reports that passenger air bag deployments in these vehicles had caused a number of moderate-to-severe eye injuries. nissan has developed a new passenger air bag that IS less powerful when it inflates in a crash to reduce the risk of air bag inflation-related injuries.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Nissan expects that this new air bag can help reduce the risk of air bag inflation-related injuries.
Remedy
Nissan will replace the passenger air bag at no charge to the consumer. the manufacturer has reported that owner notification began april 28, 2003. owners should contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
Certain of the brake hoses for the right rear wheel were routed incorrectly so that contact IS made with a suspension component. this causes abrasion to the hose and eventual leakage.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A leaking brake hose reduces braking capability, increases stopping distances and increases the risk of an accident.
Remedy
The right rear brake hose will be inspected to determine if it IS routed correctly. Misrouted hoses will be inspected for damage, replaced if necessary, and correctly routed.
The shift lever lock plate, which prevents the shift lever from being inadvertently moved from park to drive or neutral position, can be broken by the transmission shift position pin.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Inadvertent movement of the transmission shift lever without operator action can cause vehicle movement which can result in a vehicle accident.
Remedy
Dealers will install a bracket to prevent the shift position pin from breaking the shift lever lock plate.

After reading several articles on line about the rusting cross member bar of the radiator core of all nissan altima and maxima cars from 1992-2006 and their re-badged infiniti cars I decided to check my vehicle which only has 41500 original miles and kept in a garage most of the time owning it. I am the first owner and kept this car in mint condition. Upon inspection I noticed the cross member bar of the radiator core was completely rusted in the center like what IS affecting all the other vehicles of this model. My car IS well cared for and has no rust anywhere except for this area. This part should be recalled due to inferior workmanship of the steel used as most altima and maxima cars are rusting in this spot and not only IS it expensive to fix but dangerous because it supports vital engine components and may cause an accident it the parts give way under the rusted support structure. *tr

When pressing on the gas pedal with moderate to heavy pressure (for moderate to fast acceleration of the vehicle), the vehicle, on occasion, continues to accelerate after releasing the gas pedal. If the gas peddle was pressed down firmly when this happens, braking has little effect on controlling the vehicle. Tapping the gas pedal does not seem to correct the issue as it occurs. After shifting the vehicle into neutral (automatic transmission), the acceleration seems to stop within one second.

This complaint IS none of the above but I could not find a link on this site for my specific complaint, therefore, I am using this to air my complaint. my complaint IS with nissan north america. my problem IS a result of a recall on my 1995 nissan, altima. my problem IS a result of the airbag recall last year. I took my car to tischer nissan in laurel, maryland in january 2004. the panel in my car was damaged as a result of the airbag replacement. I would not have a need to complain if the replacement panel was the same color as the original panel. I wrote to nissan in gardena, ca to complain of the terrible service I received at tischer and the damage and poor replacement of my car panel. nissan ignored me until I contacted the maryland office of consumer protection regarding my problem. nissan ignored me until the office of consumer protection intervened. when nissan did respond, their tone was arrogant and indifferent and to make a long story short, they told me that the panel replacement was incidental to the airbag replacement and this occurred to other vehicles that had the airbags replaced. I find it hard to believe that this IS the case and if it IS, I personally have a problem with my "property" being altered without my consent and nissan's attitude and stance that that have fulfilled their obligation to me. I responded back to them basically informing them that their reply was and IS unacceptable to me and I contend that they damaged my property by replacing a panel they damaged with a panel that IS not the same color. I don't know of any other agency to voice my complaint to. I am asking your assistance in finding out what I can do. thank you. *ak
