The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.

Remedy
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated July 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.

Risk
Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters for were mailed for Jeep Grand Cherokee owners starting January 11, 2024. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Ram 1500 and 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 1500 Classic Pickup trucks equipped with 3.0L Eco Diesel engines. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.

Combustion in the intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy

If the tailgate opens while the vehicle is being driven, cargo may fall out the vehicle and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will repair the tailgate latch, free of charge. The recall began May 23, 2019. If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling aftermarket Mopar Canvas Seat Covers for certain 2012-2016 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. These Mopar canvas seat covers were sold through Chrysler dealerships beginning October 15, 2015. The seat covers can impede the deployment of the seat thorax airbags.

If the seat cover impedes the air bag deployment, the seat thorax air bags may not provide adequate protection in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of a injury.

In the event of a vehicle crash, if a SABIC does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury to the rear seat occupant.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will inspect the right and left side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) for proper orientation and a foil patch will be installed on both sides of the headliner. One or both of the air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) will be replaced if necessary. The recall began on October 7, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 diesel 4x2 trucks manufactured August 8, 2013, to July 2, 2015. The affected vehicles have a battery harness that may rub against the frame bracket for the right engine mount resulting in an electrical short.

If the harness shorts, the vehicle may stall and there is an increased risk of a fire.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to confirm that the battery harness is correctly routed and secured. Any harness that shows evidence of wear will be replaced. Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. This abrasion may result in an electrical short that could cause driver's frontal air bag to unexpectedly deploy. Inadvertent deployment of the air bag may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.

Brakes don’t work and the parking brake light is on the cruise control does not work and the breaking system is shot all because a little bit of water got inside the circuit board and fried it and Dodge does not make this part really available anymore. It is discontinued.

Ram has a recall for this vehicle for the fuel tank strap attachment point on the frame. It is their x75 recall. The part on my truck is completely rotted out exactly why the recall was made. My truck is 8 months outside of the recall period so Ram will not replace the part. The frame has obviously been rotting for a long time and who knows how long the fuel tank has only been supported with one strap. This is a huge safety concern and one that Ram is refusing to repair because it is outside of the time line. I can provide photos of the rotted out area as well as strap that is rotting as well. A known issue like this should not have a time line and should be replaced at no cost. Original in service date for the vehicle was February 18, 2014

Washington St, North Attleboro, MA 02760) Primary Component: Engine / Power Train Systems (Engine Block Corrosion / Oil Leak) Description of Safety Defect & Structural Failure: In December 2025, at approximately 59,000 miles, this vehicle experienced a sudden, severe engine oil leak. The cause was severe corrosion that created a hole through the lower engine block above the oil pan, located behind new transmission lines replaced by the dealership. First Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram acknowledged the severe corrosion and corroded engine block on record. The loss of engine oil created an immediate risk of engine failure, loss of vehicle power while driving, and a severe fire hazard from pressurized engine oil contacting hot exhaust components. The vehicle became completely inoperable and was flatbed towed to First Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Current Status & Official Record: The structural engine defect was never repaired. Subsequent third-party state inspection and state-certified used vehicle arbitration confirmed the unrepaired defect, resulting in a binding vehicle buyback decision issued in my favor on September 15, 2026. there are x2 photos of motor. my photo prior to towing to dealership and the dealerships approximately a month later. 2014 Ram 1500 5.7L, approximately 90,000 miles. Around October 2025, the ABS warning light, BRAKE warning light, and traction control light illuminated on the dash. Diagnosis shows ABS control module internal electronic failure (fault code C2200, lost communication with ABS module). This failure disables the anti-lock braking system, electronic stability/traction control, trailer brake controller, and cruise control. Failure was intermittent at first, occurring more often in warm weather, and has now become permanent. The vehicle cannot be repaired: replacement module Mopar part 68228991AD is discontinued and on national backorder, with dealers reporting the part has been under manufacturer engineering review for an extended period. Independent module rebuild services are unable to obtain required components. The vehicle is driven daily with these safety systems inoperative and no repair path available.

Once we are stopped on the side of the road, the vehicle puts itself into park and am unable to restart the vehicle for 10 to 15 minutes. Upon restarting the vehicle, everything runs normal until it does it again. It can go weeks or even a couple hours. It has almost caused a crash several times due to randomly powering down the motor.

On or about September 10, 2026, I was driving on the interstate at 70 MPH. Suddenly, I lost control of the steering with no prior warning or warning lights. It was obvious the power steering was not working. The power steering warning light finally came on about 15 min later. Needless to say, my reaction time to potential road hazards was greatly diminished. If my wife was driving she would not have the strength to steer. This happened on I 30 and exit 117 in Benton Arkansas while driving 70 MPH. There is a recall on my make, model and year but apparently not for my specific vehicle. It cost me $3045.75 to get it repaired. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed.

The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering); however, the VIN and model were not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

I managed to avoid the other vehicle but the ABS, trailer and parking brake light all came on a couple minutes later. The lights went off but came back on a couple of days later. On XXX I took the truck to the Ram dealer in [XXX], where I originally bought it from and they diagnosed the brake module had gone out. Code C2200-49. On XXX I was informed that there is not part available to make the repair. This is an important safety component for towing a trailer and is required in [XXX]. The front fuel tank strap mounting bracket broke. There is a recall (U-04/NHTSA 18V-160) for model years 2009-2012 for this issue. It also was added to models thru 2018 as TSB/Ext. Warranty #14-002-18 Rev. A., which expired on my vehicle in March 2026. This means that the expense will be out of my pocket. What I don't understand is, it is a known safety issue on 2009-2018 Ram 1500 trucks, but only a recall for model years 2009-12. And since the recall doesn't presently cover my model year (2014), there was no notification of this issue sent to me. I believe that since it is a known issue included in a recall/TSB of model years through 2018, the recall should be extended to cover all model years. This failure could put myself and others at risk because there is only one bracket holding my fuel tank on, which could cause loss of control of vehicle or a fire to the vehicle if the remaining bracket breaks. This issue was discovered by a private auto repair shop, in which there were no warnings signals from the vehicle.

Electronic power steering rack and pinion failed and made the steering wheel very difficult to turn. This caused the truck to turn wide into a parking lot and almost strike another vehicle. This issue is a known problem for other RAM models, but does not officially apply to mine. Now, the truck will start fine, as soon as you turn the steering wheel, an alert comes up on the dash and the steering wheel is difficult to turn.

I have had the ABS control module show an internal fault twice now in 3 years. The latest incident was while I was towing my travel trailer. When the unit sets a code, it disables the trailer brakes, along with the anti-lock brakes. This could be really bad in on a hill or sudden need to stop. The first occurrence was in 2023. I was unable to find a replacement, so i found a company to repair the unit. After the current incident, I have started looking for a new unit. They are still not readily available. How can this not be a major safety problem? Manufacturers are required to provide ABS systems in cars, but not the parts to fix the systems? This seems to be a very common problem with the 2013-2018 Ram 1500 trucks. The problem part shows C2200, ABS module internal; internal electronic fault.

This complaint is to report a power steering failure in my 2014 ram truck which has only 21,345 miles. The failure happened at the start up so there was no safety risk for me, but I understand from reading prior complaints that it can happen during driving. There was no warning or issue prior to the failure. I simply started the truck and the red warning light came on the dash and I had no power steering. I haven’t taken it to a mechanic as they charge $200 just to diagnose the issue and dealer informed me the eps steering rack is on back order. I read this issue has been known since 2023. Is that true? How many complaints are needed to get a recall for this issue? I’m almost reluctant to drive it again if/when it gets fixed.

While driving the EPS went out displaying a warning message service power steering. I lost all control of power steering, had it scanned by a shop they stated I would have to replace to rack and pinion EPS unit. The issue is trying to find the part, not to meant it is going to cost between $3000-$4000 for the part and then the labor cost to change out. When looking to find parts i came across a report saying there has be several issues with this same EPS issue and it could be covered under a defeat recall or law suit act.

Sudden, complete loss of electric power steering while backing out in a parking lot. I was driving our 2014 Ram 1500. It was approximately 9:00 pm and I was in a post office parking lot. I started the truck, put the car in reverse and backed out. The steering suddenly became impossible to turn and the ESP warning appeared on the dash. The truck had been driving fine and the failure occurred without warning. THE ESP warning light had never appeared prior to this incident. The truck could not be safely driven after the steering failure and required towing to a mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed a failure of the electric power steering system and the entire electric power steering rack and pinion had to be replaced. This was an unexpected and significant repair expense at a cost of $2,788.50 including $150 for the tow. Thankfully, the total failure of the ESP did not occur when I was driving at a high speed and thankfully it was late enough in the day that the parking lot was empty and no other vehicles were involved or disrupted. My safety and others would have been at risk because the steering wheel was completely locked and I was unable to turn it at all. The old rack and pinion has been kept if inspection is needed. It has not been inspected by anyone other than our mechanic. I am specifically filing this report because after my own searches, I discovered that this situation has happened numerous times and it could be a very serious catastrophic event if it is not investigated. Rack and pinion/steering assist failed it is available for inspection and has not been repaired. My safety was put at risk along with the general public I was driving about 40 mph when all of the sudden I lost power assist I initially thought the engine stopped so I pulled off as best I could with no shoulder in that section of road. I sat there in the road for a minute until I figured out the engine was running I just didn't have power steering. The rack and pinion has been inspected by Jim click Dodge and I have not been able to afford the repair at around $3,200. The steering light is on in the dashboard.

ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to review the effectiveness of the 17V-821 and 18V-100 recall remedies, understand the root cause of additional vehicle rollaway incidents, and identify any other possible root cause that may affect the performance of the BTSI system. The recall involved 440 vehicles and potentially resulted in loss of power steering assist.Consumer complaints indicate a similar failure may be occurring in vehicles that are out of scope of the recall.A Recall Query has been opened to determine if the scope of the recall mentioned above is correct or if another defect might exist that causes the alleged steering concerns.The reports cited above are listed in the attached document.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface. Basis – On December 16, 2016, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE16-014 to investigate 43 vehicle rollaway incidents with operators alleging they had shifted to Park and then exited the vehicle prior to the rollway incidents. These complaints involved multiple Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) model and model year vehicles that share a common electronic rotary shifter design. Of the 43 consumer complaints, 25 complaints alleged crashes, and eight complaints alleged at least one injury. Subject Vehicles – When NHTSA opened the investigation, the subject vehicles were model year (MY) 2013-2016 Ram 1500 vehicles and MY 2014-2016 Dodge Durango vehicles equipped with a rotary electronic shifter. However, NHTSA expanded the scope of the investigation to include subsequent model years of the same model vehicles when the Agency learned that those new model year vehicles use the same rotary shifter. Additionally, all subject vehicles manufactured by FCA are equipped with electronic rotary shifters supplied by Kostal Automotive. Reason for closing - During the course of this investigation, ODI did not find evidence that a vehicle-based design or manufacturing defect was the cause of vehicle rollaway incidents on the subject vehicles. Nevertheless, given the risk of a vehicle rollaway, FCA’s CSN actions provide automated vehicle securement when an operator attempts to exit the vehicle without successfully achieving a Park position with the rotary shifter mechanism. ODI closely monitored the subject vehicles on which the CSN actions implement a vehicle securement strategy and found that the CSN actions were effective in reducing the frequency of vehicle rollaway incidents in the subject vehicles. ODI analyzed the incidents when a CSN had been implemented and a rollaway still occurred, and ODI was unable to find an actionable defect that caused vehicle rollaway incidents. ODI found that the failure rates on subject vehicles that received a CSN remedy were similar to the failure rates on other vehicle populations and additionally had similar mechanisms as other vehicle populations such as slippery surfaces and various mechanical failures. Furthermore, as discussed above, after FCA’s release of the CSN actions, consumer complaints have decreased significantly. Given the absence of an identified safety defect based on available information and FCA’s customer satisfaction campaign which addresses the failure mode, further action is not warranted at this time. Accordingly, this Preliminary Evaluation is closed. However, the Agency reserves the right to take further action, if warranted.Please see the attached detailed closing summary for more information. - 10229868New Safety Recall Advanced Communication ? P13040214 Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) announced a safety recall on certain 2014 model year (DS) RAM Truck (1500 series). The transmission case may have an improperly machined park rod guide plate mounting surface. This could cause a loss of park rod guide plate fastener clamp load and eventually the park rod guide plate fasteners may loosen. A loose park rod guide plate and fasteners may not allow the park pawl to fully engage. This condition could cause unintended vehicle movement and cause a crash without warning. Chrysler will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all involved vehicles to inspect the transmission case. Transmissions found with an improperly machined park rod guide plate mounting surface must be replaced. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established methods used in the past.
