4 recalls name the 2006 Chrysler 300. Newest first.
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) expanded the affected population to include 73,712 2005-2009 RAM 2500 trucks produced at the St. Louis North Assembly Plant. With this change, Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 RAM 1500, 2005-2009 RAM 2500, 2006-2009 RAM 3500, 2007-2010 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis, 2008-2010 RAM 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis, 2004-2009 Dodge…
These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. These inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling. An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM owners. Mitsubishi owners will be notified by their company. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S43. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14V-7700.
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Dodge Ram 2500, 2004-2008 Dodge Ram 1500 and Durango, 2006-2009 Dodge Ram 3500, 2008-2010 Dodge Ram 4500 and 5500, 2007-2008 Chrysler Aspen, 2005-2010 Chrysler 300, 300C, 300S, and SRT8, 2006-2010 Dodge Charger, 2005-2008 Magnum, 2005-2011 Dodge Dakota, and 2006-2009 Mitsubishi Raider vehicles.…
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify the affected Chrysler and Dodge owners and Mitsubishi will notify the affected Raider owners. Dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began for Chrylser on June 8, 2015. The recall for Mitsubishi started on June 24, 2015. Chrysler and Dodge owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Mitsubishi owners may call 1-888-648-7820. Chrysler's number for this recall is R25. Certain passenger vehicles equipped with 2.7 liter engines and mk25e braking systems may exhibit inadequate clearance between the rear brake tubes and the exhaust gas recirculation tube. contact between the brake tubes and exhaust gas recirculation tube over an extended period of time may cause the brake tubes to wear through and cause a brake fluid leak.
This can result in a decrease of braking force and the potential for an engine compartment fire.
Dealers will inspect the rear brake tubes for damage and replace them free of charge. a clip will also be installed to secure the brake tubes to the right front shock tower to maintain proper clearance to the exhaust gas recirculation tube. the recall began on june 26, 2006. owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
On certain pickup trucks, sport utility and passenger vehicles equipped with 42rle automatic transmissions, the cup plug that retains the park pawl anchor shaft may be improperly installed. if the shaft moves out of position, the vehicle may not be able to achieve 'park' position.
If this occurs and the parking brake IS not applied, the vehicle may roll away and cause a crash without warning.
Dealers will inspect the transmissions and install a bracket to ensure the park pawl anchor shaft IS retained in the proper position. the recall began on november 28, 2005. owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle shut off unexpectedly. The contact stated that the vehicle sputtered and stalled after refueling. There was an abnormal rumbling sound coming from the vehicle. The contact waited for 30 minutes to restart the vehicle. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. While driving and making a turn, the vehicle stalled. There were unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V002000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have had issues with fueling the vehicle as when I fuel it I am only able to get a few cents in at a time before the gas pump clicks off or gas starts coming out of the fuel filler neck itself. At most I have been able to fill up my tank halfway but when I try to fill it a few cents worth of gas above halfway, I have engine stalling issues. To try to solve this issue I replaced all the external fuel vapor parts (charcoal cannister, EGR valve, PCV valve, purge solenoid, gas cap, and leak detection pump). The issue is clearly a problem with the internal components of the fuel tank itself. Chrysler has a X53 lifetime warranty for my type of vehicle but only for 19 gallon fuel tanks and my car has an 18 gallon tank. However, NHTSA investigation PE13-016 has shown that the defect (a swollen vent valve) affects both sizes of tanks. Chrysler said that the X53 lifetime warranty on the defective tank is VIN specific and would not cover my vehicle because it has a 18 gallon tank. Now my vehicle dashboard is saying that the gas cap is leaking but the gas cap was just replaced thus this further points to a pressure issue within the tank. Chrysler dealerships will not help me and contacting FCA resulted in them just telling me to contact a dealer to check if the warranty is available for me.
2006 Chrysler 300 Touring 3.5L V6 engine. Car has intermittent stall at slow speeds or at complete stop. Sometimes feels like it stumbles, other times it dies suddenly and unable to tell the engine shut down. I have to put car in park and completely switch the ignition fully off and turn back on to start position. When it stalls while rolling, I have to brake and bring car to full stop, with no power steering, and go through the same start procedure. No trouble codes are generated, and no check engine light indicator illuminated. Car usually starts right up, but sometimes I have to keep cranking starter, stumbles to catch as if starving for fuel. A/C was on first two times but also happens with A/C off. Research online reveals an open recall for the fuel tank on the 300C model with a 5.7L or 6.4L engine. Problems described on the 300C model are nearly identical to what my 300 Touring is experiencing. PCM replacement does not correct problem. Some noticed it happening only with a full tank. Stopgap measure is to only fill no more than 3/4 tank. I am currently testing this idea. The safety issue is significant and twofold; three times I have had one other adult and two children in the car. While stalled at a major intersection traffic signal trying to restart the engine, other vehicles approached from the rear at 50-55 MPH. A rear end collision with children in the back seat would likely be fatal. Secondly, during a stall event while the car is moving, it is extremely difficult to steer the vehicle to a safe place, and braking takes significant pedal pressure once power assist bleeds off. This is a serious concern and obvious collision hazard, as I may not be able to stop or steer to a safe location or avoid a hazard. I had the car at the dealer for over three weeks in July 2024 and they were unable to duplicate the issue. Their answer was to drive car until it happens more frequently. This is unacceptable. No other solution or repair was provided.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact stated there was smoke coming from under the hood. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and observed that the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was HOT. The contact turned the vehicle off and waited for about 30 minutes and the vehicle restarted after several attempts. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.
While driving at speed limit car dash lights all light up and car stops running. You loose steering, brakes all electrical lights. Car may restart and power restored and if not must stop car if possible to restart. Happens randomly! This is a continued problem. Has happened more than 10 times and seems to be having this problem more and more often. No one knows how to fix problem.
Car traction light pops on and the engine raves up high. I turned it off and pump brakes but it continues. When I backup traction pops on. I got coils and brackets put on prior to it doing this. If I lock the car door a lot of times I can't get in. I've called tow truck so many times. Even after replacing battery. Once it's opened with the jimmy and I crank it up. The key remote will work. When I try remote a few hours later it won't work. I don't leave important items in the car due to someone coming in my lot and rummaging through it.
On 11/15/2022, the consumer had a scheduled service appointment at Hendrick Chrysler motor vehicle dealership located at 1628 Montgomery Hwy, Hoover, Alabama, regarding stop drive recall ZD1, S43, and R25. The consumer was directed to sign insurance related paperwork to have the recall service performed. The consumer explained that the service was related to a recall and would not sign any insurance related paperwork. The consumer was advised by service personnel that the recall service would be performed and the motor vehicle was left with the service department to have the recall service performed. Shortly thereafter, the consumer was advised via telephone call that the recall service would not be performed. The consumer does not believe that any insurance paperwork is applicable to have recall service performed. Because the motor vehicle dealership and/or the motor vehicle manufacturer have been unwilling to provide service regarding the stop drive recall(s), the consumer is requesting guidance from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for resolution.
i’ve been reading about the issues regarding the lights exterior/interior-so many customer complaints about how over the past few decades problems with the interior (dash) and exterior lights blinking, dimming & “ completely going out” while of course driving-how hasn’t this major issue been addressed & recalled, this is a VERY DANGEROUS & SERIOUS PROBLEM, I am currently experiencing this while on the road at night-what can be done? Our safety is at risk!!

The contact stated that the vehicle was undrivable. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the gear shifter operated normally. The contact stated that over time the failure became progressively worse and more frequently. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V460000 (Power Train). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Gear shift gets stuck in park. Cannot shift from park to reverse.
My car poses a safety hazard to me and any others who ride in the car with me, due to the defective Takata airbags that were placed in my vehicle under the Takata airbag recall. Without my consent or knowledge, Dominion Chrysler of Bedford, VA replaced both front Takata airbags (driver and passenger side) with 2 more defective Takata airbags! How is this legal or safe!? I only found out about this dirty trick, by reading an article online, and then I called my dealership and they confirmed that they did indeed replace my defective Takata airbags with 2 more defective Takata airbags and that I would get safe, non-Takata airbags in the future, under the recall. When? They did not know. I had the first airbag replaced in 2016 and the second one replaced in 2017. When will I actually receive safe, non-Takata airbags under this recall? My vehicle is NOT SAFE TO DRIVE and yet Chrysler and The United States government purposely put defective and potentially fatal Takata airbags in my car, not once but twice? I don't have another vehicle to drive and I can't afford to discard this one and buy another potentially dangerous vehicle. I am nervous about driving this vehicle every time. So what am I supposed to do? What are millions of others supposed to do? Neither the FCA or NHTSA ever informed me that I would be getting a second set of defective Takata airbags under this recall. How many others are just as unaware as I was? It is now July 2022 and I need safe non-Takata airbags, like I was promised, under this nationwide recall, NOW. All unsafe Takata airbags need to be replaced today under this recall. How many more people need to be injured or die, due to these defective Takata airbags? No amount of money can compensate for loss of health or life. Please do what is right and what you promised the American People you would do! UPHOLD AND ENFORCE THE LAW AND GIVE US SAFE NON-TAKATA AIRBAG REPLACEMENTS!
My vehicle has experienced ecm/ throttle body issues, lights flickering hard to drive vehicle at night because the lights aren't working properly. Transmission and motor problems. Why isn't the electrical issues on recall? I've been on several forums with hundreds of electrical issue complaints. This is not fair
I here to report what seems to be an on-going issue with the older model Chrysler 300's. I have an 2006 and just recently started smelling gas fumes or an gas odor inside my car. I had a mechanic look at the problem. He assumes it was a cracked or damaged seal. He took the backseat out and looked. The ring was intact but the fuel filter had a small crack in it. We fixed it and thought the problem was over. He said the car would have a heavy fuel smell for a couple of days but would go away once the car was aired out. 3 DAYS go by and though the fumes remained. Now,i see that gas isactually leaking from the underside of the rear passenger side. And the smell is still there. I am taking the car to another repair shop to do a more through exam of the car. Leaking gas should be the least of my problems.
Every time I fill my car with gas I get a gas smell inside my car and garage for the next few day. I call about a recall for my car and was told that my car was too old to be serviced at the dealership where I bought it.

I was hit from behind on freeway by drunk driver and pushed into side wall on highway. In the process my seatbelt unlocked and none of the air bags deployed even though he hit me going close 100mph.*dt*jb*dt the consumer provided photos. *Tr
I went to the gas station, 2-ISH mile drive and came back home. About 20 minutes later we decided to go see my mother in law, 34 highway miles away. Cool, so we go, everything IS fine, beastie (that's the name of my 2006 chrysler 300), IS running good, my husband and 3YR old are jammin out to metallica, and we get to my mother in laws house.. Stay a couple hours and decided to head home.. So we say bye ect ect.. We get about 9.5 miles down our 34 mile ride home... Aww crap, there IS a tractor on the road, so we go to pass him... Or so we thought... Make sure coast IS clear, turn on blinker and step on the gas petal more firmly.. Ok in the other lane.. And bam!! Car dies in motion at 60 mph!! My husband just casually says "hey babe, I think the car just died" and I look like "haha whatever" and I couldn't believe it.. So we pull over and try to get it started, had my mil come jump us.. An hour later and we still don't have beastie started.. No clicking, no nothing.. So unfortunately beastie had to sit on the side of the road until the next day... The next day we got her towed to my mils house... That was 3 days ago... And beastie still hasn't started up for me...
TL* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300. The contact stated while driving at a very low speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to yemm chevrolet buick GMC chrysler dodge jeep RAM located at (2195 n henderson st, galesburg, il 61401) to be diagnosed. The technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000.
Car shut off in the middle of highway, stalling, I was almost hit from behind. Now it won't even start. Every issue IS related to the fuel issue recall. But my because my vin isn't included, I have to deal with this. You guys aren't perfect and missed adding my car to the recall.
TL* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle the transmission would not switch from the parked position and the vehicle could not be driven. Upon inspection it was discovered that the transmission shift cylinold spring attachment was faulty. The contact was able to manually adjust the broken piece and drove to the local dealer napoeton chrysler.(140 e. Osceola pky, kissimmee fl) who diagnosed that the transmission shift cable was faulty. The vehicle not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 104,000.
Car stalled while driving and one time after refiring the engine, the shifting of gears was awkward. Dealer changed oil pressure sensor. Did not help.
Everytime. I feel my chrysler 300 up. It shuts off ,stalls for about 10 minutes. Then everything IS normal. Note. This IS very dangerous could be just driving and it'll just shut off. Can you cause an accident? This IS happening to me at least six to eight times so far beginning in january.
TL* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300. The contact stated the air bag warning light illuminated after being taken to taylor automotive (11989 TN-22, martin, tn 38237). NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE14-016 in June 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers. All six vehicles were operated in Florida or Puerto Rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by Takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.During the course of PE14-016, ODI determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by Takata. No evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.Nonetheless, at ODI's insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation. The regions recalled initially included Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, areas with high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures. As part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to Takata for testing.Takata's initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from Florida.Accordingly ODI requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the Gulf States and other coastal areas.Takata's testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.During PE14-016 four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region. Also during PE14-016 four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically California and North Carolina.Accordingly, ODI requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject Takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.Significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or Takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.Takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing. All test ruptures reported by Takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas. The investigation now includes all manufacturers and vehicles known to be affected at this time.ODI's investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy. The five ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492
