Risk and remedy
Risk
Improper servicing of the upper intermediate shaft could cause the shaft to separate, which can then result in a loss of steering control, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify the owners of vehicles whose repair records reflect that the upper intermediate steering shaft was repaired during the course of the prior recall 13V-385. Dealers will inspect and replace the upper immediate shaft if necessary free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S25.

Risk and remedy
Risk
If the lower bearing separates, the vehicle may experience a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners and dealers will replace the lower intermediate shaft, free of charge. The upper intermediate shaft and steering column lower bearing will be inspected to identify any damage that may have occurred as a result of lower intermediate shaft corrosion, and repaired or replaced as necessary. If the steering column lower bearing has separated, a retainer clip will be installed. The recall began on October 23, 2013. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall number is 13S08.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle as an unknown warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the gear oil would leak from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he had the brake pads and calipers on the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V385000 (Steering). The contact was informed that parts needed to be ordered to perform the recall repair. The contact had not received a call back for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000

The contact stated that while driving about 40 mph, the steering wheel ceased and he lost control of the vehicle colliding with the concrete barrier wall as the vehicle spun around, going in reverse and colliding with the barrier wall again, coming to a stop. The contact stated that the front and rear of the vehicle was damaged. All kinds of warning lights illuminated and flickered on the instrumental panel. only the front passenger's air bag deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained neck, chest, back, hand injuries, as well as head injuries as his head hit the window. The contact stated that he had a passenger seated in the rear passenger seat, whom sustained a cracked spine. the contact and the rear passenger were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The vehicle was totaled and was towed to a tow yard. The dealer was not called and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 226,000.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The failure recurred. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

The contact stated that while her fianc was driving about 70 mph and getting off a ramp, the steering shaft fractured inside the steering column, without warning, and caused the vehicle to crash into a curb and stopped in a grassy area. The contact was concerned that the crash could have resulted in a crash with an eighteen wheeler driving next to the vehicle at the time of the failure. The front passenger's side was vehicle was damaged. The air bag did not deploy and no injury was reported. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering shaft fractured. The contact called the al packer's white marsh ford dealer (443-777-5000, located at 9801 pulaski hwy, middle river, md 21220) and was told that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number, stating that there was no recall. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v704000 and 13v385000 (steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

My vehicle has the same issue that IS reported under the recall list as far as steering it IS popping and actually getting stuck when turning, the gas pedal vibrates while turning and the dealer said it was recalled but not my for my vin after I took it to them.

I was traveling southbound on I-75, just north of it's exit with I-4, and south of its exit to martin luther king blvd., at approximately 65 mph. I was in the far left thru lane when suddenly, and with no warning whatsoever, the right rear tire blew out, causing my 2010 crown victoria to fishtail on I-75 and, I believe, to be struck by a semi-truck which continued south. my car spun and came to rest on the opposite side of the interstate. I sustained injury to my neck, mid back and low back. I sustained a loss of consciousness and head injury. this tire was placed on the 2010 crown victoria by maintenance personnel at gulf coast transportation, inc., 1701 w. Cass street, tampa, florida 33606, on 10/27/15. the accident and/or blow out occurred on 10/29/15. the blown out tire was replaced by gulf coast maintenance personnel on 10/30/15, 12:15 pm, as shown in the attached photograph. gulf coast IS, or should be, in possession of the blown out tire and IS being placed on notice to retain the blown out tire for your investigation.

The manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 7,000 and the current mileage was 30,000.

- 10254138All accessory stick-on keyless entry keypads come with a wallet card containing the master code. If the accessory keypad was factory installed, this card will be placed in the glove box and should be handed to the vehicles owner during initial delivery. Unlike the integrated (wired) factory keypad, the accessory keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Dealer Key Code access is granted through the Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES); dealership management can authorize users. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com > Parts and Service > Parts Product Line Information > Keys/Entry Devices > Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.

- 10183773For 2005-2012 Crown Victoria, 2005-2011 Grand Marquis and Town Car vehicles, Regional Program 13R01 applies to vehicles not registered in corrosion states and not included in Safety Recall 13S08, where operation in high corrosion areas for an extended period may lead to corrosion in the lower intermediate steering shaft swing link. This may result in a compressed upper intermediate steering shaft and separation from the steering column, which can result in a loss of steering control. Vehicles covered under 13R01 that were inspected or repaired without replacement of the lower intermediate shaft, and have relocated to high corrosion areas, may experience subsequent corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft swing link.

- 10164508Some 2010-2020 vehicles may exhibit distorted glass with a subtle orange peel pattern or streaking etched into the surface. This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition.
- 10160931On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

- 10109070The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
