I was in a head-on collision (T-bone) going over 40 mph. Despite the severity of the collision no airbags deployed and both front seatbelts failed. Error Codes: B0052:00 Deployment commanded; B0015:04 Driver seat belt buckle tensioner deployment loop open; B0022:04 Passenger seat belt buckle tensioner deployment loop open. I have a police report but it exceeds the 10mb limit.
Cracked Dash - multiple cracks around the airbag module, made worse by airbag module replacement. Scared that if the air bags ever go off, the dash will shatter, throwing shrapnel all over the occupants.
Warning messages says engine speed reduced, stabilitrak system off. Unable to pick up speed, engine warning light on. Vehicle IS shaking while driving.
We received a safety recall notice saying the propellant in this inflator may degrade after long-term exposure to high humidity and temperature cycling, which could cause the inflator to explode during a deployment. an inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior at high speed, whcih may result in serious injury or death to passengers. when we called the GMC dealer to get this fixed, they said they don't have the parts. this IS unacceptable. this IS our family vehicle for my husband, myself and our 6 children that we ride in together each day. I'm also pregnant and expecting a baby in august - we should not be forced to drive around in an unsafe vehicle, GMC should be offering an alternative vehicle for use until they have parts available or some option to keep our family safe.
Was driving down the road approached a corner hit a icy spot then dry spot spun me around and went into the ditch. Side air bags deployed. Did not hit any object or roll the vehicle. also did not know anything about current recall on air bags for my vehicle.
We own a 2010 yukon and have a cracked dash board, this looks to be the result of poor design and cheep plastic. I see that 1000 of other gm/chevy owners have experienced the same issue. from what I can see the dealership would love to fix this at the owners expense $2,000. You would think that after you pay close to $50,000 that gm would consider this an important customer relation issue. Also not to mention the safety hazard this poses.
The dash has cracked in two places, with no undo abuse.
Cracks in dash that could effect airbag deployment and/ or send pieces of the dash flying towards me in the event of a crash.
Cracks in the passenger and driver side of the dashboard
Takata recall. still waiting for repair since may 2016

Takata recall active recall since may 27, 2016 with no remedy.
I have tried for over a year to have the airbag serviced, no dealership has the information or equipment. dash has even cracked from this airbag.
Takata recall - heritage GMC in rockwall, tx (75087) still doesn't have airbags that they can put in to replace mine.
The dash panel IS cracked in several places and could affect the air bag deployment during a crash. I have been told the cause of the cracks are due to a combination of the flexing of the automobile, lack of proper support and heat.

2010 yukon XL slt 4WD with 5.3L V8 at 122,000 mi. The vehicle was in motion traveling at approximately 55 mph on highway. Check engine light illuminated, then check stabilitrack, then engine power reduced.
Dual cracks on dash. one by air bag and the other by instrument cluster. just started the car one day and the cracks appeared. no crash no chemicals were used.
Our 2010 GMC yukon XL has been garage kept and well maintained. Like many other GMC truck owners our dash cracked right near the passenger airbag. It IS getting larger and has started to expose the components underneath the dash/airbag cover. This has been reported on news channels and a law suit has apparently been filed in florida. Hopefully the dealership or gm will repair.
Dashboard cracked above steering wheel and passenger side airbag. the car was stationary - parked.
Dashboard crack at air bag. crack runs from air bag to air vent and has caused dashboard to sag and drop. Concerned defect may affect air bag deployment.
At approx. 60,000 miles I noticed a crack in my dash above my control panel. I know have 2 more near the airbag. I am concerned about safety IS airbag was ever to deploy...
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
