My Yukon Denali XL GM engine that was put in on 07/2022 has already failed. It failed as I was driving down highway at 65 mile per hour. It failed on 04/12/2025. I paid almost $7,000 to have my engine replace due to the original engine failing in early 2022. Now the engine that I paid thousands of dollars for has already failed and has no compression in cylinder 4. I have researched this and can see GM is currently in litigation over car owners reporting engine failure due to either liftors or cams. My car should be considered in this class action lawsuit against GM. It's wrong for a company to take so much money from owners and use an engine that GM knew had issues and was faulty to place it into my vehicle only to have it fail and now make my vehicle undriveable and I am told it's another $8,000 to repair it. GM should address this issue with my vehicle and replace this engine that I had put in in 07/2022. GM was aware of this engine problem with my model car Yukon. GM knew this particular engine that they used in my vehicle on 07/22 (A GM engine) had the issue that GM is being sued for and sure enough the engine has now failed in my Yukon. Please hold GM accountable for this and include my car in this lawsuit.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while attempting to refuel the vehicle at the gas station, fuel was leaking out of the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was lifted. The mechanic then informed the contact that the fuel pump was rusted and that the frame were severely rusted. The contact was informed that the frame was fractured and had holes and was being held up by the body. Additionally, the mechanic informed the contact that the alignment had failed due to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The used car dealer where the vehicle was purchased was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 271,000.
Dash is cracking badly on its own. Is cracking also where airbag is held. Pieces can fly as projectiles and cause bodily harm when airbag deploys.
We were driving on the freeway and our sunroof unexpectedly exploded. I didn't see any rock or object. It caught us all off guard.
When attempting to install car seats on the 3rd row, the seat belts do not remain locked after pulled all the way out. Pulling all the way out should activate the ALR, but it does not. I am unable to seat belt install on my 3rd row which is required when a child is over 40lbs.
Keep getting traction control and stability issue warnings along with reduced engine power. Idles up and down and rough Car was parked haven’t moved
Dash IS cracking.
The dashboard has spontaneously cracked in two locations after sitting in our garage. a 6" crack has no formed over the curved instrument cluster display on driver side and a 1" crack has occurred near the air bag cover corner on passenger side. these cracks are similar in location and size to others that have been reported on GMC yukons. started noticing the crack in august of 2020. I have received a recall on passenger side airbag.
Air bags have been recalled for years and they have yet to replace them even after acquiring at multiple dealerships.
Large cracks in dash causing constant rattling noise.this occurred in less than a year purchase and has worsened the heating and cooling function of the seats failed within months of buying the vehicle new. radio and navigation screen does not work at all.
TL* takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 GMC yukon XL. The contact stated while starting vehicle, the air bag warning indicator light illuminated. The contact detected an abnormal burning odor in vehicle. The contact received nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called yates buick GMC 13845 w test dr, goodyear, az 85338 (480) 795-7563 who stated the remedy parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
While driving down the hwy on approximately 04/08/2020 I heard a loud pop and then a ticking sound. I pulled off the side of the road to look at the motor to find that 4 of my exhaust manifold bolts were broken off. both of the front and rear bolts on both manifolds were missing and the front passenger side exhaust port was leaking. after taking it to a shop to be looked at, the mechanic stated that this IS a common problem with gm V8 engines and has been for years. this issue could cause an accident if someone gets out of their vehicle on the side of the road and they or another operator isn't paying attention, someone could get run over. I don't have any pictures as my SUV IS in the shop being repaired.
My takata recall comes back as "incomplete - working on a solution". this has been going in for years. IS my car safe?
I was driving with my vehicle in auto 4WD, because we had icy roads. My vehicles rear drive slipped on some ice and then I got a message indicating my stabilizer system was needing work, then the electrical system (instrumentation dash) started to flash on and off. I pulled off the road and turned off my vehicle and then tried to restart it and it would not start. I tried a 2ND time and it started, put it in gear and started back out on the road. My electrical system started to go crazy all of the sudden, all the lights started to flash, my power doors started to lock and unlock simultaneously, the engine started to accelerate its rpm's, and down/up shifting my gears, my dash board instruments started flashing, heating and air conditioning fan was speeding up and slowing down, then turning on and off. I thought my vehicle was possessed by a demon really putting a scare in me. I was scared that it was going to accelerate and I was not in control at all, so I immediately pulled off the road and turned the vehicle off. It would not restart once again, on my 3RD attempt it started. I put it in gear and it went good. I think the instrumentation flashed maybe one or two times, but overall it was driving, thank god, because IS was cold out and I was in a rural area. Four days later I drove my vehicle to work, went out to take it to lunch and it would not start, nothing would work, completely dead. I had it towed to shottenkirk chevrolet in quincy, il, which IS where it IS awaiting the diagnostic report. 1/16/2020. I cannot tell you enough, the whole ordeal scared the living daylights out of me.
2 cracks in dashboard that coincide with so many of the complaints gm has and continues to receive. one IS at the top left corner of the airbag dash cap and the 2ND IS over the instrument panel/gauges hump of the dash.
Vehicle stopped for traffic light on a city street intersection, would not progress. had to be towed. transmission went out & were told that this model, year and engine had a faulty transmission computer which led to internal pump failure, affecting performance of torque converter.
Transmission defective @60,000 mile mark with initial sensation of getting bumped from behind when coming to a stop that the dealership routinely stated, "oh that's the way they allure". dashboard disintegrating before my eyes with multiple plastic shards that will become deadly projectiles if ever in accident and who knows how bad it will get if air bags deploy.

There has been no incident as yet involving the vehicle. However, for eight years the vehicle has been located in a geographical location of high humidity and temps which IS a factor of instability with the takata airbags. we have tried, unsuccessfully, to get the airbags replaced by our local gm dealership.we are filing this complaint in the hope of getting nhtsa to order gm to do the responsible act of replacing airbags in affected vehicles before any more injuries happen.
The dashboard has large cracks over the instrument cluster and in the area of the passenger air bag. The dash flops up and down when driving. Concern IS crack could prevent passenger air bag from deploring during a accident or ripping the air bag at deployment. Also liquid could accidentally go thru crack over instrument cluster causing electrical short or fire. The crack continues to get larger and larger.
TL* the contact owns a 2011 GMC yukon XL. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were contacted and stated that the part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Dash was making a terrible squeaking noise and then one day it stopped. Checked the dash over to find 2 cracks, one by the passnager side air bag and another on the drive side above the instrument panel. I contacted gm since we were outside the warranty and they pretty much said suck it up not our problem. How has this not been recalled or addressed with so many complaints???!!!
TL* the contact owns a 2011 GMC yukon XL. The contact stated that the rear window defroster connector fractured. The contact stated that the wire was dangling due to the separation from the weld point. Keyser cadillac (located at 4130 sheridan dr, williamsville, ny 14221, (716) 568-7045) was informed that the rear windshield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000. The vin was not available.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
