Federal mogul IS recalling 6,903 aftermarket ball joint assemblies shipped between november 9, 2007 and march 26, 2008, which may have been packaged with incorrect nuts. the part numbers packaged with incorrect nuts are: k7147, k7329, k8683, and 104353. these parts were made for use on the various vehicles listed above.
The nuts included in the packaging for these ball joint assemblies are missing the intended prevailing torque (self-locking) feature. if the incorrect nut was to become loose, the joining members may loosen leading to a separation of the ball joint. this may result in loss of vehicle control, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
Federal mogul will notify owners and replace the parts free of charge. the recall began on may 22, 2008. owners can contact federal mogul at 877-489-6659.

Chrysler dealers will replace the liftgate latch with a new stronger latch assembly without charge. chrysler began notifying owners of these vehicles in june 1996.
The vehicle had a factory re- manufactured transmission installed, which IS now sticking in second gear and frequently fails to shift into another gear. the manufacturer IS aware of the failure, but hasn't provided a remedy to correct it. the transmission has to be replaced with another re-manufactured transmission. *jb
Fuel rail leak. nhtsa recall 00v268000 describes a fuel rail leak recall that applies to 1996-2000 minivans with 3.3 and 3.8 engines. I have a 1990 grand voyager 3.3L which has developed the same leak on the fuel rail cross-over tube. chrysler declines to cover this as outside the recall dates. dealer quotes $768 for rapair. rest of vehicle has been worst piece of junk ever owned.
There IS a problems with either the electrical or fuel system in my 1990 plymouth grand voyager. As I am driving down the road at a speed from 35mph on up to 65mph, my van has a "hiccup". It feels like someone either turns the ignition switch off or steps hard on the brake. It feels like it jerks inside but I cannot tell if it jerks on outside. It does not happen ever time driving. It has been looked at and no problems have been found by the auto mechanic. They have even driven the van and have felt the problem. It started doing this about 2 to 3 years ago. It would usually only happen in the warm weather from june through october but this winter I have even noticed it. It has not completely quit working yet. *Ak
1990 plymouth voyager with the 3.3 engine, run the vehicle 20 or 30 minutes and shut it off leave it sit 15 or 20 minutes then start it up and put it in drive it does not want to shift out of low. If I shut it off and start it up and put it in drive 3 or 4 times it will start working. I also have had it shifting ok been on the highway in od and the transmission kicks out of gear until it gets back down to 25, 30 mph then it slams into low. *la
While driving, the left tire experienced tread separation. The consumer did not hit anything. There was no warning. Rode king courier (dayton) T195 - 75R 14 ms, dot#v6karc1, 17608 11R. *Ak *jb *nlm
I have a 1990 grand voyager minivan that that has developed a fuel leak on the 3.3 liter V6. the leak IS from the seal on the fuel rail crossover tube that goes from the front head to the rear head of the engine. I discovered it leaking fuel at a rate of several drops per second. on the nhtsa web site, recall campaign 00v268000 describes the following: ''defect summary: vehicle description: MINI vans built with 3.3L and 3.8L engines have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time. Fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire. consequence summary: fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. corrective summary: dealers will install a seal on the vehicle fuel rails to prevent external leakage of fuel from the fuel rail crossover tube, should the existing o-rings continue to degrade. Owner notification began on january 25, 2002. Due to the large quantity of vehicles involved in this campaign, the owner notification will be phased over the next several months. However, if a vehicle IS leaking fuel from the o-rings, the vehicle should be taken into a dealer to have this repaired as soon as possible. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403. '' the 00v268000 recall precisely describes the failure I am experiencing on the same vehicle type and engine. however, the recall does not cover the 1990 model year of my vehicle. Can anyone explain to me why the earlier years were excluded? the dealer quotes a price of $768 for repairs. fortunately I caught it before a fire started.
Fuel odor was coming into the vehicle while driving. Vehicle taken to dealer, and informed that fuel was leaking from the fuel o ring. Feel free to provide any further information.*ak

Failures of transmission and fuel pump created hazardous conditions due to unplanned stopping in unaccommodating traffic.*ak
When van IS in hills transmission and the cooling sistem, go to the hight temperature and the motor turns off automaticaly. *Ak
We have already replaced the transmission 4 times; appears a 6TH IS now needed. Two of the replacements have been "free" to us because they occured in less than 1 year from installation. This latest one lasted just a little over 1 year, which means that we will have to pay for it ourselves. This known issue should be fully covered by the manufacturer. In fact, I want reimbursement for all of the transmissions I have had to replace.*ak
Fuel rail leakage. Notified manufacturer, and informed consumer that warranty expired, and nothing will be done unless cost goes to consumer. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter. *ak
I have had seven (7) blowouts with these tires. All failed the same way, sidewall failure. All tires were replaced at no additional cost by the seller of the tires (sears)( dot number: tire size: 205/15 )
This IS 3 rd trans failure for this vehicle, for which I am still making payments on and not being able to use. after talking to others and transmission shop also it appears to be a major problem and has been for many years. I believe chrysler knows they have a problem and should repair and replace these units at a no-charge or at the least a pro-rated per mileage price. the last transmission lasted 60000 miles and I'm an easy driver and very maintenance minded....why are all these manufactuers allowed to get away with these monsterous repair costs when they gave us faulty equipment in the first place......i want my vehicle repaired!!!!!
The A604 transaxle design IS flawed. The longest service interval I've experienced with this transmission was 72,600 miles, in the original unit. The 1ST rebuild went another 70,000 miles, and then that rebuild only lasted 40,000+ miles. I'm getting tired of paying. *ak
Reclining seat control failed, causing driver to almost lose control of car. Seat fell back. *ak
The consumer received a recall letter in 1997 for liftgate. liftgate it willnot close. consumer has tape on the liftgate. *Ak

The first transmission failed while I and my family were on the ny state thruway. we were going on vacation and we had to return home in limp mode for approximately 100 miles. the second transmission failed while we were travelling on local streets near our home. I had to pay for the second transmission and computer. neither trans lived up to the warranty of 70,000 miles. the first trans failed at 58,000 miles and the second trans failed after 52,000 miles.

Cable that holds the spare tire under vehicle snapped, sending tire in path of following vehicles. one other vehicle was struck, but the driver left the scene without stopping. see odi ID: 531864 dated 02/28/1998.( dot number: )
Fuel line leak, spraying gasoline onto engine block - quite exciting!
Steering problem which makes noises while turning. Mjs
On or about 04/10/99, for the second time, we have had the tension pulley shear off from the engine block, knocking out the power steering and all other functions powered by one large serpentine belt.
Structure stability of the vehicle inadequate, required floor reinforcement kit to be installed on two occasions, noise experienced while making turns.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Liftgate latches in the subject vehicles have failed in low and moderate speed impacts resulting in occupant ejections, injuries, and fatalities.there are two failure modes associated with latch failure: fork bolt-detent lever bypass, and inertial unlatching.nhtsa analyses of chrysler and peer minivans took the form of static and dynamic crash testing, engineering evaluations, complaint and field analyses, and real world data analyses.a technical report discussing these analyses can be found in the engineering analysis technical report in the public viewing file.chrysler has advised nhtsa that it will conduct a campaign to replace the latches on all the subject vehicles.the chrysler campaign will consist of notification letters to all owners; free replacement of all latches with stronger, safer latches regardless of the age of the minivans; national advertising to promote customer awareness of the campaign; quarterly reports regarding campaign completion rates; as well as additional measures to ensure a high completion rate, above and beyond the actions that normally would be taken in a formal safety recall.these include follow up written and telephonic notifications to owners who do not bring their vehicles in for corrective action.nhtsa firmly believes that the crash performance of the latches on these minivans raises serious safety concerns, and that the campaign addresses these concerns.the chrysler corrective action will increase the strength of the liftgate latches and decrease the potential for inertial unlatching, thereby reducing the risk of crash-related openings of the liftgate and possible occupant ejection through the liftgate opening.owners of chrysler minivans will get a stronger, safer latch free of charge at the earliest possible time, without the need for further technical investigation and complex and time-consuming litigation with an uncertain outcome.based on the above, odi IS closing this investigation.
