General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, Blazer EV, Equinox, and GMC Terrain vehicles. The door strikers may fracture, resulting in the door opening unexpectedly.
A door opening while the vehicle is being driven can increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
Dealers will replace all four door strikers and attaching bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 24, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232429911.
Since picking up the car almost two years ago the battery cooling fans have been actively blowing shredded internal insulation, forcefully discharging mass quantities of airborne fiberglass-like micro-fibers both internally into the cabin and externally into my residential garage and home. The vehicle is completely intact, unaltered, and available for immediate federal, independent, or manufacturer inspection upon request. My safety and physical health were put at severe risk due to chronic inhalation and skin exposure to high volumes of airborne, jagged, fiberglass-like microfibers blasted directly into the passenger cabin and my residential garage. This heavy environmental particulate exposure triggered a severe, ongoing escalation of my pulmonary disease that required heavier high-tier medications and caused a violent flare-up of an underlying autoimmune condition. The problem has been reproduced continuously and confirmed by my residential building's professional maintenance team. They conducted an official environmental inspection of my apartment, formally concluding that there is no structural or building source for the material, isolating the vehicle as the sole point of origin. The vehicle has been evaluated by General Motors' corporate division. Based on a plethora of underlying mechanical and safety failures, GM has formally acknowledged the vehicle's defective state and has officially authorized a statutory Lemon Law buyback. There were no digital dashboard warning lights or error messages prior to the issue. The initial symptoms appeared immediately after delivery in March 2025, presenting as an unidentifiable, aggressive gray/white fibrous dust coating the vehicle interior, clothes, and garage, which worsened exponentially over the timeline of vehicle ownership as the something continued to disintegrate the internal insulation panels. This was notified to Chevy almost immediately after picking up the car. I have photo and video showing the issue.
Auto hold was on, radar cruise control was set and as I was merging in traffic a sharp smell of burning started. The cruise control refused to disengage until I parked the car in garage. Eventually burn smell ended but seems like brake was stuck while acceleration causing a burn smell. It seems like brake could get stuck to wheels perhaps when auto hold is on even when driving? Auto break hold is a feature which keeps the break on while car is stopped.
the car jumped/jerked like it was trying to change gears while accelerating and two times when at a complete stop at a light. The car was taken to dealership on Sep 2, 2025 and needed a full transmission replacement. The parts were on back order and the vehicle was not complete until November 20th of 2025
This morning, I stopped to open the gates at work, car was idling. When I got back into the car, put it in drive and started to slowly move forward the FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM slammed on my brakes and lights flashing on my dash. I backed up...there was absolutely nothing in my way. This has happened numerous times, different places and while turning a corner at a very slow speed. Never nothing in the way. Will definitely be taking it in to have it checked now.
On October 2, 2026, while driving my 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD at approximately 55 miles per hour, I approached a stop sign while traveling downhill on a wet road. I had let off the gas and had slowed to about 35 mls per hour before I applied the break. The road was wet from rain, but I did not believe the vehicle was hydroplaning. They rain had stopped and roads were only moderately wet. I applied the brake pedal normally and continuously held the pedal down. I did not pump or release the brake pedal. The vehicle appeared to activate ABS. I could feel what seemed like repeated braking and releasing/pulsing while I continued holding the brake pedal down. Despite continuously applying the brake, the vehicle did not slow and stop as I expected and continued moving toward the stop sign. The car continued through the stop sign and the brake failure almost caused me to hit another vehicle. Once I was past the other car I turned onto Lakeview Heights and drove at about the same speed (35) and it did the same thing at the next stop sign. I did not intentionally test the ABS or attempt an emergency maneuver. This occurred during normal braking for a stop sign. The vehicle was being driven in Sport mode at the time. I subsequently took the vehicle to a Chevrolet dealership for diagnosis. The dealership performed diagnostic testing and reported that they found no diagnostic faults/codes. The problem was not reproduced during the dealership inspection. I am reporting this because I experienced an unexpected loss or significant reduction in braking effectiveness while the brake pedal was continuously applied. I am concerned about a possible intermittent braking/ABS/brake-assist problem.
The plastic cover on the shark fin antenna has fallen off the vehicle twice now. The second time was just 12 weeks after the first one was replaced at the dealership. The part fails because the plastic clips that hold it to the base are brittle and are easily damaged by the high speed air dryers in car washes. My concern is that if the clips get weakened in the car wash and then the plastic cover separates from the base while driving at highway speeds, there is a very real potential for this part to strike the windshield of the car following my vehicle. The part in question is GM Part Number 26537604. GM has issued a direct replacement to the original OEM part number, GM Part Number 26512283 which presumably has reinforced clips to prevent this problem.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving 52 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle independently accelerated and there was an abnormal clicking sound. The brakes eventually responded, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that the failure lasted for approximately five miles. The contact's two minor grandchildren were inside the vehicle during the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,100.
My 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD has experienced two separate incidents involving sudden loss of propulsion without warning. First Incident – XXX While driving in [XXX], the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion without warning while I was in a turn lane in front of a medical center. Following the loss of propulsion, the Driver Information Center displayed warnings associated with the AWD system, shift system, and high-voltage system. The vehicle could not be driven or shifted and became disabled in the roadway, creating a potentially hazardous traffic situation. An expedited tow was required because of the location of the disabled vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership in Novi, Michigan. I picked it up on XXX. I was informed that a vehicle-wide reprogramming had been performed, the vehicle had been updated with the latest available software, and the condition should be resolved. Second Incident –XXX Only 12 days after the vehicle was returned following the reprogramming, the vehicle experienced another sudden loss of propulsion without warning while my cousin was driving on [XXX]. Following this event, warnings were displayed indicating that the AWD system, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), traction-control system, and high-voltage system required service. During this incident, the vehicle could be shifted into Neutral. Good Samaritans pushed the disabled vehicle from the roadway into a nearby parking lot. OnStar was contacted, and the vehicle was towed back to the same Chevrolet dealership that had serviced the vehicle following the XXX incident. The vehicle has therefore experienced two sudden losses of propulsion within approximately two weeks, with the second event occurring only 12 days after a vehicle-wide software reprogramming intended to address the first event. Since buying the car in 2024 I have experienced multiple incidents where the system hard brakes for no reason, including times while driving. The emergency recall on this vehicle was repaired last year and since that repair this issue has occurred 2 more times, once earlier in 2026 and then most recently as yesterday despite claims by GM the issue has been fixed. My daughter currently drives this vehicle and is afraid she is going to get into an accident because of this issue. I tried to initiate a buyback but due to the miles on the vehicle GM would only settle for 4k.
Vehicle: 2024 Chevrolet Blazer VIN: [XXX] Component: Engine Cooling System (Radiator) Description of Incident: On XXX the vehicle was brought in for a routine maintenance service at approximately 20,000 miles. During the inspection, technicians at Hamilton Chevrolet in Warren, Michigan discovered a premature radiator leak. The servicing technician noted that this is a common failure on modern Blazers due to a manufacturing material mismatch, specifically where the plastic end tanks meet the aluminum radiator core. This structural component failure poses a severe safety risk. A rapid loss of engine coolant can cause immediate engine overheating, thermal management failure, and a sudden loss of vehicle propulsion while driving at highway speeds, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: The defect was located and the radiator was subsequently replaced under the factory warranty by Hamilton Chevrolet (Warren, MI). However, this failure occurred far too early in the vehicle's lifecycle, indicating a structural or material defect in the OEM radiator seams. Please investigate this issue, as premature cooling system failures on this model year present an ongoing safety hazard. The car just stopped while I was driving. I was in an intersection. The car would not turn back on
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced phantom braking on four separate occasions. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Sudden catastrophic drive train failure while driving. Car stopped instantly and was totally immobilized. It had to be dragged onto a flatbed tow truck. It is at dealership now for evaluation.
The radiator had a crack that nobody located even though I had been smelling antifreeze since I purchased it at 24,000 miles just over a year ago. I brought it in for an oil change today because I was leaving town for the weekend tomorrow and now a hole had blown through the bottom of the radiator. Had this happened when I was in a remote area of the mountains without cell service this could have been a very big problem. Or had it blown while traveling up the mountain pass it would have put my life and others passing me on the road at risk. There weren't any warning lights on and the car never overheated. There weren't any outward leaks up until the hole was blown in the radiator. I have had it in several times for oil changes and there were never any visible leaks noted. Luckily my engine never blew because I've been driving with a cracked radiator for at least a year now.
While driving my 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, the vehicle suffered a sudden, complete failure of the power braking assist system. The failure was accompanied by a rapid cascade of three sequential dashboard warning messages in immediate succession: First Warning: "Service ESC" illuminated alongside the "Brake Park" warning light. Second Warning: "Brake Assist Failure. Press Hard to Brake. Speed Limited" illuminated with "Brake Park" remaining on. Third Warning: "Brake System Failure. 62 MPH Top Speed" illuminated with "Brake Park" remaining on. Immediately upon these warnings triggering, the power braking assist and emergency mechanical reserve failed completely. When pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle did not slow down, and the pedal failed to engage the brakes. To avoid a catastrophic intersection collision and bring the vehicle to a halt, I was forced to deliberately steer the vehicle into a concrete curb to use friction to stop the car. The vehicle is a total loss of braking safety and cannot be driven. Safety Risk: The sudden loss of braking assist creates an immediate crash hazard, as stopping distances are severely multiplied. Limiting a vehicle to a maximum speed of 62 mph while experiencing zero brake assist on active roadways places the driver and surrounding traffic in extreme danger.
"While attempting to merge onto a high-speed freeway on-ramp, the vehicle suffered a sudden and catastrophic loss of engine power, rendering it unable to accelerate and creating an immediate life-threatening safety hazard. The vehicle was restarte and driven home, where an onboard diagnostic check revealed an emissions system failure. The dealership later confirmed that BOTH close-coupled catalytic converters on the 3.6L V6 were damaged. The check engine light was a solid light. Not flashing.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal to reduce speed, the vehicle failed to respond as intended and crashed into the rear end of a second vehicle at approximately 5 MPH. Moments later, a third vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The contact was not injured during the crash. The occupant of the third vehicle sustained an unknown injury. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed the residence and was later towed to a repair shop. The third vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. The local dealer was not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of failure. The failure mileage was 5,500.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact received notice of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V433000 (Parking Brake). The contact stated that on several occasions, when he and his wife put the vehicle in reverse (R), the vehicle did not reverse as intended. He observed an "activate park brake switch" message that appeared. Additionally, on one occasion when his wife put the vehicle into reverse (R), the vehicle abruptly stopped but continued to work normally shortly after. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the harness needed to be rerouted and anti-abrasive tape installed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,600.
Driver Information Centre (DIC) and Infotainment go dark. This has happened twice now over the last 2 months. While driving suddenly the infotainment goes blank and loses the radio and then the DIC follows by going blank (dark). So I was left with no speed indication. The car drives normally during that time. After 30 seconds to a minute the screens come back on as if it rebooted while driving.
The front camera lens cover — located in the grille below the Chevy bowtie logo — has developed a spiderwebbed/shattered crack pattern. There is no impact damage to the surrounding grille or bodywork. The vehicle was garaged and not in use when the damage was discovered. The camera appears to still be working and parts of the image are crystal clear but the cracks in the cover distort the picture and make it impossible to use reliably. This is consistent with a material defect, not road damage. I have opened a case with GM Customer Care regarding this defect. My case number is: XXX. There is a defect in the motorized electric charge port door. When you press the button it rarely works to open the charge port door leaving me with unable to charge my vehicle. I fear this will leave me stranded and my only course of action will be to rip the door off in anger. Many others are experiencing this issue. Chevy needs to address this.
I was driving to work as I normally do and work is only 15 miles away from home I get to work turn into the parking lot stop to scan my badge and I hear knocking noise I thought it was coming from the truck in front of me but after he moved on I still heard the noise and I found a parking spot as soon as I could and the engine light on the dash came on and the motor that was knocking is definitely my Blazer with only 11,222 miles on it. I always keep up on my vehicles maintenance in fact I just had the oil changed at Ray Skillman Gm Dealership2/16/26 it had 10,960 miles on it. Before that I had the oil changed at Ray Skillman 08/20/25 it had 7,720 miles on it then and before that. The very first oil change 22/ may /25 the mileage was 5,354 on it was at Hare Chevrolet where I purchased this Blazer RS Brand new it had 34 miles I always get the oil changed when it gets to 25%
On 10/29/25 I brought the vehicle in to Richard Lucas Chevrolet due to the alert from my insurance co that there was a recall with parking brake system. The dealership checked the car and told me they had to order the part that was needed due to the recall. Prior I also made the dealer aware that the car had recently stalled on me in the middle of the street, I was told by the dealership that this was apart of the recall! The dealership allowed me to drive the car and stated to me that they would call me when the part comes in! 2 days later on 11/1/25 while driving the car lost control, the brakes wouldn't stop and I crashed into 2 parked cars and landed on top of the second parked car which was a pickup truck! All of the airbags deployed and my body is pretty messed up from this horrific crash and this has caused fear in me of driving!
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated while the vehicle was at the dealer to be serviced, the contact was informed that the oil pressure was low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the dealer confirmed an oil leak. The contact was informed that the manufacturer had not developed a particular part to fix the vehicle. The contact was informed that blue silicone was used to seal the leak. In addition, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On April 11, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE24011 after receiving complaints concerning a loss of brake assist in 2023 MY Cadillac Lyriq vehicles. These complaints allege a hard brake pedal, followed by a “Brake System Failure” message at start up or while driving. GM shared records regarding several internal investigations for loss of brake assist due to alleged spindle fractures in the eBoost system. GM has stated that in the event of a spindle fracture, anti-lock brakes (ABS), stability control, and traction control remain functional until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. At this point, ABS, brake assist, stability control, and traction control functions are lost. The loss of these functions causes the vehicle to set one of three Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) based on failed performance criteria for the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). These DTCs, in turn, activate several driver alerts: an audible chime, a visual “Service Brake System” message in the display, and multiple illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lights (MILs) for the ABS, Traction Control, and Brakes informing the driver of loss of functionality. The vehicle speed will also be limited to 70 KPH (43 MPH). Since opening PE24011, ODI has continued to receive reports of loss of brake assist. Some of these reports describe symptoms inconsistent with GM’s description of a spindle failure. These reports allege an immediate loss of brake assist functionality as opposed to the loss occurring after the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The sudden loss of brake assist during a braking event could result in extended braking distance, which increases the risk of a crash or injury. ODI believes further analysis is necessary to assess the potential for failures in GM’s eBoost system to resulting in safety-related outcomes. At this time, ODI is aware of the following vehicles that are equipped with this eBoost system: 2023-2026 MY Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon; 2024-2026 MY Buick Enclave, Envision; Chevrolet Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Traverse; Cruise Origin; and GMC Acadia; 2025-2026 MY Cadillac Celestiq and Optiq. ODI is also aware of 2024-2026 MY Acura ZDX and 2024-2026 MY Honda Prologue vehicles that were built with this system. The Acura and Honda vehicles were manufactured by GM in a joint venture with Honda, and will be included in the Engineering Analysis as peer vehicles. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysis to further assess the safety-related consequences of a failed eBoost system. In addition, ODI is expanding the scope of the investigation to encompass all GM vehicles that share this eBoost system. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
