This condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur.
Honeywell will notify owners and replace the fuel filters free of charge. the recall began on october 18, 2006. owners may contact fram customer service at 1-800-890-2075 (option 1).
Vehicle description: chassis cabs. the tapered hole in the drag link end that attaches to the pitman arm tapered ball stud may be machined too deep causing the hole to be oversized. a drag link with an oversized hole may not "seat" the pitman arm tapered ball when assembled. this could cause higher than normal friction between components during…
If the joint separated or the ball stud brake while the vehicle was moving, steering control would be lost.
Dealers will inspect the steering linkage assembly and, if necessary, replace the drag link and the pitman arm.
Vehicle regularly stalls while driving, going down hills and any random time at highway speeds, while in traffic, while stopped at traffic controls. This problem happens repeatedly and is apparently related to the “pump mounted driver”, which is prone to failure due to inadequate design for the use and environment. It creates random failures Of the pump to deliver fuel.
During operation of vehicle, power braking and steering IS lost. Vehicle fails to stop or steer easily and therefore will not stop in safe distance. Occurs usually at slow speeds but increases stopping distance and requires extreme strength to turn. May happen several times during short trip. Vehicle has hydraulic assist (steering pump) brake system. Definitely unsafe and appears canada has already acted on.
Depressed brake pedal and brake pedal went to floor, had very hard time stopping vehicle
TL* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving at various speeds, the rear passenger side turn signal failed without warning. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger side socket failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000. ...updated 01/20/16 *bf *cn
First time the brake failure occurred was in the driveway. my son, a newly licensed driver was taking the vehicle to school when he came back into the house and said the brakes on the truck don't feel right and the pedal goes to the floor. he stated that as he was backing out of the driveway, the brake pedal went to the floor. as a mechanic, I took the vehicle to the shop and found the brake line from the master cylinder to the rear brakes had failed. I replaced this line. less than a month later another brake line burst when I had my foot on the brake in a parking lot. this time it was the brake line from the tee near the differential going to the left rear brake. all brake lines will now be replaced. my personal opinion IS this IS a defective part. I know I live in an area where deicing chemicals are used on the roads in winter, however, to avoid rust problems on this vehicle, the underside of this vehicle IS power washed weekly during the winter months to remove these chemicals. frankly, the brake lines do not look that bad. it's like they just develop tiny "pin holes" in specific areas. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet silverado 3500. The contact stated that the vehicle was being repaired for unrelated body damages when he was informed that the drive shaft was broken. The contact was informed that the power steering pump and filter would have to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign ID number 05v005000 (power train: drive line: drive shaft). The failure and current mileages were 117,000. updated 9/10/12 *cn updated 09/18/12
While traveling west bound on md route 4, upper marlboro, md, the traffic light turned to yellow as I was approaching dowerhouse road intersection. I applied my brakes to stop and the pedal suddenly dropped a few inches. I applied more pressure and the brake suddenly dropped to the floor and I lost all brake pedal use. I blew my horn as I went through the intersection as the light turned red. I pumped the brakes several times and there were no brakes. I applied the emergency brake and that slowed my vehicle and eventually stopped it. upon returning my vehicle to my residence, examination revealed that the rear metallic brake line along the left frame rail had rusted or corroded through where the plastic anti chaffing clip attached to the brake line. further exam revealed the front brake line had also failed. the front brake line had rusted or corroded at the front center plastic clip attached to the lower crossmember. This was a simultaneous failure of both brake lines from the same braking event. although my vehicle IS a model year 2000, it has only 34,250 original miles and IS seldom used in the winter time. it IS primarily used to tow my boat an average of 15 miles round trip to the boat ramp. it has never been immersed. *tr
Had multiple brake line failures in the last 2 months. First being the main line to the rear brakes, then brake line to the right front wheel, then line to left front wheel. while truck was being worked on it was noticed that the front frame rail was starting to rust through near where the front bumper mounts, also noticed rust on the frame at front of cab area, this IS not surface rust, this IS rusted through the frame and has large rust scales. It IS primarily in the area of the cab and forward. Frame seems to be okay from the cab back, problem IS where the frame IS enclosed. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet k3500. The contact stated that there was rust on the frame of the vehicle. The dealer was contacted but advised that they were unfamiliar with the failure as the contact described. The vehicle was not inspected for the failure nor repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 56,000.
Time 15:30. Road conditions: dry. No clouds. Incident: slowing to a stop at pedestrian crossing, the ABS system activated at approximately 8 mph. Vehicle failed to stop and lurched forward into pedestrians. condition replicates the ABS failures in similar vehicles that are under recall; dealer indicated this vehicle was not part of recall but has same issue. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet k3500. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, he applied the brakes and the anti lock brakes engaged. The vehicle was not taken to dealer to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. An authorized dealer was notified and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign ID number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The failure mileage was 90,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet k3500. The contact stated they had to replace the interior door handle fifteen times and the passenger side handle twice. The contact stated the barrel where the spring mounted around the handle broke. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the entire door locking mechanism and door handle were replaced. The dealer stated that the part was fragile and would continue to break. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 161,000. updated 5/9/11 *cn
Left rear tire became "lumpy" tire dealer inspected and said cords have separated replaced tire with different manufacturer. Failed tire was an adventurer futura 265/75 R16 load range e. Tire was on chevy 3500 single axle 2WD. *Tr
TL* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet c3500. The contact stated while braking from approximately 35 mph, the brakes did not engage and the contact proceeded to crash into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility where the mechanic advised that the brake lines were rusted and corroded. One of the brake lines had fractured at the rear driver side wheel. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was left at the repair facility where the contact was awaiting repairs. The failure and current mileages were approximately 135,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet k3500. while driving approximately 30 mph, the ABS activated and caused the vehicle to continue moving when the brake pedal was depressed. the manufacturer stated that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign ID number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic: anti lock). the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were 58,000. updated 03/12/09. *lj updated 03/13/09. *Jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet k3500. the tire manufacturer IS nankang, brand name IS geo trac, and tire line IS lt/225/75/r16 (na). upon inspection of the tires, the contact noticed that four out of the six had cracks on the exterior of the sidewall. he IS in the process of notifying the manufacturer. the contact still has possession of the tires. the tire failure mileage was 1,300. the vehicle failure mileage was 72,803.update 09/10/08 *cw updated 09/19/08. *Jb
We have purchased a chevy 3500hd dump truck. We have known this truck for a few years and the brake lights have been stuck on and no signals for two years. We were told about the recall for the multi-function switch for other 2000 truck models, i.e. The 2000 blazer, because of this situation. We feel that our truck should be included in the recall because it has the same problems as the other trucks made by chevy in the same year and suspect it IS the same part. We have been told that the part IS $400 and $250 to replace in labor. We don't feel that we should have to go through the cost and then get reimbursed for the cost when it IS finally recalled. In the process of finding out what the problem was, hundreds of dollars have been spent on useless "fixes" because there IS no recall for this particular truck and no one thought about that particular switch being bad until we were talking to a blazer owner of the same year that told us about the recall on his truck. We investigated a little more and there are more than the 2000 blazer with this part being recalled. *tr
No incident..,however while in alaska in 2005. I was told by a state trooper that my vehicle side mirrors do not meet dot standards, they are too small to properly view the side of the vehicle. my vehicle: 2000 ck3500, crew cab, 4X4, duel rear wheels..,pulling a 29' travel trailer. the trooper IS right, my mirrors don't even view beyond the rear fenders much less the trailer. my question IS; how can the vehicle industry put a product on sale if it does not meet the requirements it was made to do? nobody buys a vehicle as described without using it to pull something and the vehicle should meet those requirements per the standards set by dot nationally and by states. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet silverado. while driving 10 mph the break pedal extended to the floorboard when depressed, which activated the ABS. The dealer stated that the ABS sensors and the wheel hub needed to be replaced. the current mileage was 93,000 and the failure mileage was unavailable.
Driving down the interstate when I experienced 90% tread failure on my left outside dual rear wheel on my 2000 chevrolet c3500 pickup truck. The defective tire was a general ameri 550 as, size lt225/75r16. No crash or injuries were involved, but my left rear fender was obliterated. Mileage on the tire was 40,000 miles. *jb
This information pertains to a chevy ck 3500 crew cab 4X4 dully purchased new in 2000. at 1,923 miles the original factory front brake pads were worn out and replaced under warranty. at 3,108 miles the rotor assembly was replaced. again, at 7,709 miles the front disc pads had to be replaced. at 11,596 miles front disc pads, rear shoes and linings. at 20,317 miles front pads again along with replacement of h1320 booster assembly. at 24,977 miles front pads and h0780 brake valve replaced. At 35,000 miles one more set of front disc brake pads before the warranty ran out and the general cut me loose. since the warranty expired, it has continued to be a front brake job between every 6,000-10,000 miles. *nm
Antilock brakes always activate when braking at slow speeds, was told by chevy dealer there IS a recall but not on my vehicle. *nm
Dt: the contact states the fuel injection pump stops working without warning. this causes the brakes and steering not to work. the pump has been replaced twice and he feels this happens every 18,000 miles. the vehicle has been taken to the dealership for the repairs. the manufacturer offered him $800 toward a newer vehicle. *Nm
Dt: problems began about march 2005, with anti lock brake system. front brakes are grabbing, and calipers stay shut. When driver hits the brakes hard calipers lock. and when making turns a noise IS heard, a grinding noise. In last 4 months brakes were replaced twice. Extended stopping distance IS caused when this occurs. No warning lights come on, after removal, the pads were chewed up. Not worn, but damaged. Owner replaced brakes. *Ak
Same symtoms as described in action # pe05020 ABS system engages when applying brakes at slow speed, suddenly their IS minimum braking, and stopping distance IS increased greatly! vehicle IS out of warranty and dealer says system needs to be "fixed".
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Gm IS conducting a recall on all subject vehicles build between may 1999 and october 14, 1999.significant changes were incorporated into production in early october 1999, and vehicles built after that date have lower warranty failure rates.the complaint and warranty data appear to support the effectiveness of these changes. Gm made additional changes in november 1999, february 2000, may 2001, and february 2004.odi will continue to monitor this problem and will take further action, if warranted, in the future.for further technical details see the attached engineering analysis report.
The preliminary evaulation IS being upgraded.during the ea odi will limitits investigation to only those vehicles equipped with a hydro-boost system, which provides power assist to the braking and steering sytems.vaccuum brake booster vehicles are excluded.odi hasexpanded the scope of the ea to include model years2003 and 2004, asduring the pe, odi learned that the hydroboast pumps were modified in febraury 2004.therefore,odi has expanded the scope to include the additional model years.odi's IS concerned because thisisa sudden failure that affects two critical systems of the vehicle, brakes and steering, at the same time.the ability of the operator to handle the dual failures IS a concern. Further, these vehicles tend to be work vehicles, with some over 10,000 pounds gvwr and many equipped to pull large trailers.dual failures of heavily loaded vehicles and vehicles pulling trailers further increases the safety risk.odi plans to conduct testing to quantify the braking and steering performance degradation and the impact on safe vehicle control, when a hydroboast pump fails.
