The rear outside seating position safety belts may lock up at angles other than those required by fmvss 209, "seat belt assemblies". this does not conform to the motor vehicle safety standard.
Non-conforming safety belts cause an increased risk of injury in the event of a sudden stop or accident.
Replace the sensor in the rear seat belt retractor.
The left and right seat safety belt assemblies are not interchangeable. Some left seat safety belt assemblies were installed on the the right side of the car.
A safety belt assembly installed on the wrong side ofthe car can not be pulled out of the retractor because of the mounting angle, making the safety belt unusable, and the seat occupant of an unusable seat beltwould be exposed to increased risk of injury in a sudden stop or accident.
Install correct seat belt assemblies on the correct side of the car.
1992 honda accord. Consumer writes in regards to engine problems. *Ld the consumer stated the vehicle had multiple failures and stalled while being driven. The consumer stated the fuel system, ABS system, engine, power steering, and electrical system failed. The consumer stated the recall repairs need to be completed. *Js
TL* the contact owns a 1992 honda accord. The contact stated that while her son was driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact had the vehicle towed to her residence however, the vehicle has failed to restart. The contact stated that the engine compartment was covered in gasoline. The vehicle experienced oil dilution. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300,000.
The car will not go into drive. it makes a horrible noise like something IS falling out under the hood and will go into reverse and all othe gears but not drive.
Horn IS designed poorly which has caused several close calls because I was unable to honk my horn at a crucial time. Instead of being able to press the center of the steering wheel to honk the horn, there are two small buttons at the 9 and 3 position that appear to be positioned to press with your thumb- if your hands are at the 9 & 3 position. In an emergent situation, the first inclination IS to hit the middle of the steering wheel to activate the horn, not to search for either of the two little horn buttons. In the latest incident, I had the right of way on a left turn arrow, a car going straight went through the red light and nearly broadsided me. I was pounding all over the steering wheel because I couldn't find the horn. *tr
I am the second owner of the 1992 honda accord. I have experienced automatic transmission failure on this vehicle that will generally require overhaul or replacement of the transmission. after several on-line researches on honda accords 1990 to date, I find numerous problems, i.e., acceleration failure. When engine gets hot, the car has acceleration failure. Even further research reveals ?certified transmission mechanics revealed that this known premature automatic transmission failure IS due to an engineering design flaw. in addition, ?this design flaw consists of the honda accord automatic transmission not having outside access to the metal screen internal transmission filter which becomes clogged with gunk and metal shavings, thus starving the transmission, which causes overheating, and further deterioration and premature automatic transmission failure.? there IS no way to gain access to the metal automatic transmission filter because there IS no transmission pan to unbolt and allow access. Complete disassemble of the transmission IS required. this serious transmission problem will be reported to the u.s. Government national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) declaring the transmission problem IS a major safety hazard. *tr
The car IS got some electrical shorts in the wire my maintenance said, and now it has a problem shifting into all the gears, it stalls when you go to take off, it don't seem like it has any power behind it. It happens every time you go to take off it stalls. *tr
ABS lite came on,i would like to know if there IS any warranty on this. *tr
A faulty transmission control unit, caused the vehicle to at random shift in to an improper gear or into neutral at or during take off from stop. this resulted in loss of power when trying to join traffic, or once already in traffic. tcu would also fail to lock or unlock t/c when it was designed to. on one occasion the tcu locked the t/c at a stop light, stalling the engine in traffic. tcu failed to alert the driver of a problem through the D4 or check engine lamps, and produced non existent codes when put into diagnostic mode. *tr
Front left seat belt was buckled in, making audible click, and turning off indicator lamp on dash board. while driving the seat belt popped out of its latch. at no point during the drive did any lamp or chime warn the seat belt was not fully latched. cause for concern, seeing numerous other reports of people being injured or killed by seat belts of these cars failing in crashes. *tr
Paint clear coat peeling manufacture denies fault. *tr
TL* the contact owns bridge-stone potenza G109 tires, size 195/65/r15 equipped on a 1992 honda accord. While examining the front passenger side tire the contact noticed several cuts along the side wall of the tire. The tire was taken to the dealer where the tire was replaced however, two months after the replacement the contact noticed hat the failure had recurred. The current and the failure mileages were 10,000. The vin was not available.
TL- the contact owns a 1992 honda accord. When she attempted to make a left turn, the vehicle that had the right of way wasnt able to stop and crashed into her vehicle left side causing the vehicle turned several times the vehicle stopped when it crashed head into the other vehicle front end, and the driver frontal air bag didnt deployed. She received injuries to the chest, neck, knee, and back. the police report information, and the vin, wasnt available. The failure mileage was 200,000 and the current mileage was 300,000. Li

1992 honda accord with difficult steering. Consumer states that a mechanic determined that the vehicle was missing 2 mounting bolts from the steering rack. Consumer had the bolts replaced. *kb
The locking mechanism in the driver's side door on my 92 honda accord IS broken and will not allow the door to open from the inside or the outside. I consider this to be a safety concern. in order to get out of my car, I have to crawl/climb to the passenger side of the car and exit the car that way. if I needed to exit my car in an emergency, say a fire in my car, it would take me more time to get into the passenger seat and then exit the car than if I could just open my driver's side door. please look into this matter and consider this as a recall. I have done some research on the internet and have seen several other people that have had this same issue. I contacted honda about getting this repaired and it would cost $250+ for the part and then labor would be $72 per hour and it would take 2.5 hours to fix it. that does not include my local taxes. this may not seem like it IS too much to get it fixed but for a guy with a family of 5 and only one income, it IS allot of money. thank you for your time. *tr
Air bag did not deploy in mvc with extensive front end damage. *Nm
Consumer requesting information on recalls for a 1992 honda accord EX. *Kb
Dt*: the contact stated two out of a set of four tires have failed due to tread separation. the contact reports having no steering problems or warnings prior to tire failure. the manufacturer of the tires IS cooper. the model IS weather master xgr. the tire size IS p19565r14. *Ak
D4 light comes on and stays on for 10 minutes. Transmission hunts for gears at cruising speeds without warning, often landing no gear, causing a scary scenario. a web search revealed thousands of complaints by 1989 to 1993 owners of that model honda accord who are having the same problem. It IS supposedly a failure of the transmission computer. Honda dealers have no safety or maintenance recall/bulletin on this issue. They offer to replace the tcm (guess that IS the computer) for $570.00 plus labor! several hundreds of thousands of these years' models were sold and are on the road. If a computer failure puts the driver and the traffic at danger because the car chooses a different gear or no gear, the manufacturer should fix the damaged computer component or whatever the failed component. since such sheer numbers are involved the nhtsa should investigate the matter independently. *jb
Re; tire blow out fr690 p 195/65r15.*bf two of the four tires had bubbles protruding from the sides and the fourth tire appeared to be fine. *jb
1992 honda accord EX with 149380 miles. Traveling along highway at 60 mpg at 0545 in the morning car then dies in traffic. Able to coast to the right and stopped until wrecker showed up. weather was 16 degrees and car was running great until then. At the dealer, notice the hood was burnt. Service person stated it was a bad wire in the coil and/or ignition. Replaced wires, coil, ignition, breather tube. I was lucky. I noticed several other people had the same issue so I'll voice my concern about the 92 coil/ignition fires on-line. used parts were burned. 92 honda IS a great car except with this issue. *Jb
While driving at 65 mph, through brisk wind, the hood of the vehicle disengaged, causing the hood to break the front windshield. *Ak
While driving , the vehicle stalled. when this occurred the vehicle lost power, but the consumer was able to restart it within a few minutes. Several diagnostic test were done but no failure code was found. jb there was a bad distributor, seat belt failure and an inoperative air bag. *sc
Consumer stated that when it was warm and humid vehicle did not start. dealer found that nothing was wrong. *ak
Brake service on 1992 honda accord.*mr the consumer paid over $400 to have the calipers and front brake pads replaced. the service was complete and the vehicle was driven the consumer indicated that the vehicle still didn't stop correctly. the dealer then indicated that the vehicle needed rear brake pads. the consumer asked for a refund, since the vehicle still wasn't fixed, but was denied *nm
