The drivers side door was struck during a car accident. The drivers side airbag deployed from the drivers seat but did not inflate.
My airbag srs light turned on and did research that there was a recall on my vehicle. I’m concerned and worried about my safety due to the airbags.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. The contact purchased the vehicle and was provided a copy of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V182000 (AIR BAGS) by the original owner of the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer refused to release the vehicle because of a "Do not Drive" warning on the vehicle. The contact had to sign a release form to retrieve the vehicle. The contact stated that the dealer deactivated the front driver’s side air bag. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Dealer has falsely stated that past airbag recall work was completed. The timeframe they gave of completion is incorrect. We owned the car during the timeframe they said the repairs were done, but they were not done. We had a mechanic from Honda call use around the stated time (years ago, I cant recall specifically, dealer has the info), but the mechanic never came yet marked the work as completed. I asked the dealer and they ran a report and said wok was done. I'm basically driving a ticking time bomb.
the engibe over heats above 230 the car has for the 4th time broke down on major highway endangering the kids and in insecure area of the road where you can get murdered the dealer says this is normal defect of the coolant system i don't think buying a 2024 with known defects normal the dealer says there are so many thermostats on order across the US that it will take 1 to 4 months to get the part then here is the best comment it will happen again so this is normal condition of a $70000 car what do you think please advise and by the way they told me to fix the problem i should trade in my car i don't have a lot of money and struggling to buy food fir my kids HELP
The SRS light comes on and once cleared/reset it will typically return after 2-4 trips. it was confirmed when the car when air bags were checked for recalls. This first appeared in 2018 with airbag recalls. It became a recurring issue in 2021 when after each reset it would return. The reset would last months and when the battery was drained it might reappear. In 2024 Jan. the reset and light return cycle become more consistent with it returning within 2-4 trips.

And TCS light came on all at once. Passenger was in panic while this occurred. No police report or accident . A P0730( Incorrect gear ratio)code and P1751(2-3 shift malfunction )code. Is present. Turned key off when it was safe ,D4 and TCS cleared ,when key turned back on. Need to see if this is common problem and if it is , it needs to be addressed . Also has a problem with the fuel pump delivery of fuel via relay . May shut off while in motion and cause car to stop running. Changed relay and no other problems with relay. Approx. 130000 miles.
The airbags did not deploy during a side impact accident. A state state trooper investigated the accident.
The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. The contact stated that after the vehicle was inspected, he was informed by the technician that the vehicle had failed due to the subframe had rusted and was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer nor the manufacture were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,299.
The automatic transmission is failing. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. It is slipping and sometimes will accelerate extremely slow. Will also jolt forward aggressively at times. Making it dangerous and a safety issue. The transmission can go out soon and make the car stop moving. Putting me and everyone else at risk being stuck on the road.
I was driving down the road at about 45mph and the passenger side seat airbag deployed scared me causing me to pull steri g wheel just a little hitting a curb and causing my tire to blow out and destroy the fender well and pull the trim on door panel off along with cracking my front bumper my car was in amazing condition only had 75k miles stated parked in garage now it's trashed out all because the air bag went off for no reason my daughter was in back seat right behind passenger seat and white dusty stuff flew all over her please fix this before it kills someone thanks I love my Honda but will never get in another one scared for my life please fix
NHTSA said owners of certain Honda Accords should not be driven since airbags could explode and be fatal to the driver. We are not allowed to drive them until it is fixed.
Recalled airbags
The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was a delay while shifting gears. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to the transmission. The contact was informed that the check engine light would remain illuminated until the repair was completed. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
side air bag light comes on and off randomly when driving no more than 25 mph and lights get brighter when i press the gas but doesn't move immediately.
Hit a tree backwards at 60mph caved in driver side quarter blew dash out ripped suspension out ripped gas tank out destroyed radiator, core support, no air bags or side airbags went off
The airbags failed to provide me protection during an accident on a highway. 1. Airbag was size of steering wheel, both popped upon deploying, didn't protect me from hitting and shattering windshield with my head, seatbelt help me from flying thru windshield , without protection from airbag both hands and wrists are brused in braces.. I been off work for 9 days now 2 visits to ER .. I believe the airbags mafunctioned.. my car is in Inland towing riverside ca. A highway patrol was present unknown if report was made , it's not letting me upload files and fotos
I’m contacting you regarding Honda company mishandling of their airbag safety recall, I own a 2001 Honda accord EX 3.0 and just recently I have learned about the Honda recall for my car.
I am able to turn the ignition to the off position and remove the key without putting the vehicle in park. While this has not resulted in an accident YET, the car did roll down my driveway once. Someone could die as a result of this problem. I believe the issue is with the ignition interlock. Both the dealer and an independent mechanic told me it was an expensive repair and “not worth doing on this car”. The thing is, there is a recall for this very issue on other 1999-2002 Honda Accord sedans, but the recall does not include my car’s VIN. This is a public safety threat that make me afraid to sell or donate my car. The problem has been ongoing for about 3 years. There are no warning lights associated with the problem, but a number of other electrical issues have been developing.
Hello i recently bought a 2001 honda accord and was not made aware that this year make and model have had such problems that a recall was made. I wax not made aware of the grave problem this year car faced and am not recieving the help i need from honda. This issue puts myself and my family at risk.
Have had the car in the shop multiple times in the last year attempting to solve a consistent radial pull. This has become a safety issue as the car is now being used by a 21 year old granddaughter. Discount Tire has consistently refused to help. The latest alignment was conducted by Advance Auto Tech of Angleton Texas which shows the alignment is not the problem. It is one of the tires now identified as the left rear. Alignment test was conducted on 07/01/2021. Consumer stated tires are 205/65 R15.
Car shifts really hard and rough out of first gear. Ive driven many many accords from working at auctions, Ive owned two in my entire life and they ALL have shift problems. I can’t believe this isn’t a campaign already????!!!!! These trannys are NOTORIOUS for going out. Please if there’s some sort of bulletin or something i missed let me know lol! (Wishful thinking)
I am writing to you in regards to a safety concern with my 2001 honda accord. The engine subframe of my 2001 honda accord LX has 1/4 engine connections rotted through. This IS located on the front passenger side near the strut assembly, beneath the air conditioner drain, as noted by others on posting on the internet. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the subframe was rusted. The vehicle IS in excellent condition otherwise, especially with very low miles (156,000) there IS very little rust on the vehicle considering it's age. My mechanic says it IS unsafe to drive. He writes: 'during degreasing (and repair of radiator) found engine sub-frame rusting out and coming apart. Advised client the vehicle IS a safety risk to drive in this condition'. it appears to be the result of a design flaw relating to the location of the air conditioner drain. Honda should be held responsible for this design flaw and honda should be held accountable to repair this unsafe situation. I am shocked this catastrophic safety condition was allowed to continue without warning by honda and/or the nhtsa!!
I took it to oreilys to read the obd and the guy told me my ecu was wiped. My identity has also been stolen and these gang of people who impersonate me have done this, at an earlier time 8/19 my keys were stolen from my roommate and I reported it because they got tickets in my name. Anyhow I have to push start my car to override the fact that theres no data to tell my car what to do and my key IS also invalid and I cannot afford to fix it. Was hoping there was a way you could get info on who did this and accessed the info?? Or if I am covered under the privacy act?? NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE14-016 in June 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers. All six vehicles were operated in Florida or Puerto Rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by Takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.During the course of PE14-016, ODI determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by Takata. No evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.Nonetheless, at ODI's insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation. The regions recalled initially included Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, areas with high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures. As part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to Takata for testing.Takata's initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from Florida.Accordingly ODI requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the Gulf States and other coastal areas.Takata's testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.During PE14-016 four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region. Also during PE14-016 four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically California and North Carolina.Accordingly, ODI requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject Takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.Significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or Takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.Takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing. All test ruptures reported by Takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas. The investigation now includes all manufacturers and vehicles known to be affected at this time.ODI's investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy. The five ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492
In a Consent Order executed on December 29, 2014, American Honda Motor Co. (Honda) admitted that it violated the Safety Act by failing to report certain death and injury incidents that were required to be reported to NHTSA under 49 C.F.R. ? 579.21(b), and by failing to report certain customer satisfaction campaigns, special warranty extensions, and warranty claims that involved goodwill, third-party vehicle service contracts, or Honda-certified, pre-owned vehicles, as required by 49 C.F.R. ? 579.21(c).As part of the Consent Order, NHTSA assessed a total civil penalty of $70 million against Honda for its violations of the TREAD Act and associated regulations. Honda timely paid the civil penalty in full on January 20, 2015. Honda also agreed to develop written procedures for comprehensive early warning reporting in compliance with 49 C.F.R. Part 579, Subpart C; to train appropriate personnel on its early warning reporting requirements and written procedures; and to complete two third-party audits of its TREAD Act reporting.NHTSA opened this audit query (AQ) investigation in order to investigate the extent and scope of Honda's failure to report early warning information pursuant to the TREAD Act, as well as the reason(s) for such failures and the steps being taken by Honda to assure full compliance with TREAD reporting requirements.Based on the Consent Order, Honda's admissions that it violated the law, and the completion of its performance obligations, this audit query, AQ14-004, is closed. Closure of this AQ has no bearing on the terms of the Consent Order and does not represent a determination by the Agency as to Honda's performance under the Consent Order.
Virgin Islands, areas with consistently high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures. As part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to Takata for testing.Takata's initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from Florida.Accordingly, ODI requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the Gulf States and other coastal areas.Takata's testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.During PE14-016, four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region. Also during PE14-016, four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically California and North Carolina.Accordingly, ODI requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject Takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.Significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or Takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.Takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing. All test ruptures reported by Takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas. The PE is now closed/upgraded to an Engineering Evaluation (EA15-001) to include all manufacturersand vehicles known to be affected at this time.ODI's EA investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy. The recalls related to this PE are: 14V343, 14V344, 14V348, 14V351, 14V353, 14V655, 14V700, 14V701, 14V752, 14V763, 14V770, 14V773, 14V787, 14V802 and 14V817.The number of vehicles affected are an estimate since some vehicles may have both the driver and passenger side inflators recalled. The five ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492
This RQ investigation was opened to collect and analyze additional information to better evaluate the scope and timeliness of Honda's two safety recalls addressing rupturing of the driver's side air bag inflators (08V-593 and 09V-259).In an earlier response to RMD's request for information, Honda indicated that the second recall (09V-259), essentially an expansion of the first (08V-593), was necessary since later information informed that the source of the defect was different than originally postulated, and so the scope of the vehicles affected changed. Honda indicated that it had relied on its supplier of the air bag inflators, Takata, Inc. (Takata), in studying the possible sources of the inflator ruptures and identifying the recall populations.Accordingly, RMD issued a request forinformation to Takata on November 20, 2009, and Takata provided a partial response on December 23, 2009.Takata then provided its complete response on February 19, 2010.Takata informed ODI that, after analysis of several ruptured inflators, Takata and Honda initially attributed the defect to handling of the propellant during inflator assembly that could have yielded increased moisture levels that, when coupled with thermal cycling in automobiles over time, could lead to reduced propellant density and overly aggressive combustion during air bag deployment. However, it discovered upon review of inflators returned from the 08V-593 recall campaign, some of which fell outside the manufacturing range when Takata suspected the propellant was exposed to elevated moisture, that the source of the defect was more likely due to problems with a specific compression press (Stokes press) used to form the inflator's propellant.Specifically, the propellant tablets produced by the press were found to be less dense, and therefore more susceptible to overly aggressive combustion during air bag deployment.Takata identified the manufacturing time frame over which the tablets were shown to have less dense properties as the end of calendar year 2000. Takata informed Honda of its discovery on or about June 12, 2009.Honda made its defect decision and then notified NHTSA of it on June 30, 2009.Honda then supplemented its filing with an identification of the specific vehicles to be included in the campaign, as well as identifying additional models to be included, on July 29, 2009.As with the 08V-593 campaign, Takata examined inflators returned from the 09V-259 campaign, and some of which were manufactured outside of the range when the Stokes press was found to have produced less dense propellant (beyond the end of February 2001).It provided those findings to Honda and Honda decided to expand safety recall 09V-259 to include all vehicles with inflators containing propellant manufactured using the Stokes press.Honda notified NHTSA of its decision on February 9, 2010.Based upon all available information, there is insufficient information to suggest that Honda failed to make timely defect decisions on information it was provided. Also, given that all inflators with propellant manufactured using the Stokes press have been recalled, there are no additional vehicles to be investigated and campaigned.Accordingly, this RQ is closed.
The subject vehicles are designed with an occupant position detection system (opds) for the passenger seat to suppress the side airbag in the event of an out-of-position occupant.on some vehicles, the opds unit and sensor grid may be susceptible to high moisture content and/or to sporadic electrical interference that would result in the illumination of the srs readiness indicator.in this condition, opds suppression will not function, but the side airbag will still deploy in the event of a side crash. Honda issued a technical service bulletin in april 2004 to address this problem. However, the problem persists even after the warranty period expires.as a result, some owners may not be obtaining the necessary remedial service work.continued illumination of the srs indicator can mask the detection of other airbag component faults if they occur. In march 2006, honda issued a service bulletin (06-009) to extend the warranty on srs illumination and opds issues to 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first).honda will send notification letters to owners of the subject vehicles and will provide a no cost replacement of the opds unit as needed.in addition, other my 1999-04 honda and acura vehicles are also covered by the bulletin.this action taken by the manufacturer IS sufficient to resolve the issue raised by this investigation.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
The above failure report counts are for model year (my) 1999 - 2001 honda accord models that were not within the scope of a related honda recall action (nhtsa 03v423); these vehicles were investigated by odi under defect petition (dp) 04-006.complaint information for other models and model years was not obtained by odi.the noted population indicates the number of vehicles (including the my 2002 accord plus the prelude and TL models) that are within the scope of honda?s new recall (nhtsa 05v-025, honda P68, P69); 402,525 of these were investigated in dp04-006.seepart 573 documents related to 05v-025 for further detail on other models and mys.odi notes that, according to honda?s analysis, interlock system warranty rates for the TL and prelude models involved in 05v-025 are similar to those of the accord models.information provided by honda during dp04-006 indicates that certain vehicles containing interlock systems made by its japanese lock manufacturing facility may contain defective internal components.in combination with certain wear and usage factors, this may lead to a condition that prevents the system from blocking removal of the ignition key when the vehicle IS not in park.if the driver leaves the transmission in a non-park position and fails to set the hand brake when parking, the vehicle may roll away and crash.interlock systems manufactured by honda?s u.s. Lock manufacturer do not appear to contain this defect and are therefore not included in the recall action. In a letter dated january 27, 2005, honda advised that it will conduct a safety recall to either upgrade (for operative systems) or repair (for inoperative systems) subject interlock systems with new design level components that do not contain the defect.
The office of defects investigation (odi) produced an information request (ir) letter dated october 14, 2004 which defined the subject vehicles as model year 1999 - 2001 honda accord vehicles which were not within the scope of prior recall action (03v423) honda conducted to resolve an interlock defect.honda submitted responses on november 29 and december 21, 2004.the failure reports noted above have been determined from odi's analysis of nhtsa's complaint database and an initial analysis of the manufacturer's ir response data (further analysis required).some of the honda reports are duplicative of odi.taking into account a shorter service life, the failure incidence of the subject vehicles IS similar to that determined when odi conducted preliminary evaluation (pe) 03-013, which involved interlock failures on older accords subsequently recalled under the 03v423 action.accordingly, the petiton IS granted and odi has opened pe05-002 to further investigate the matter.
Six of the odi complaints are duplicative of honda complaints, as well as four of the crashes.the one injury occurred when a rollaway vehicle struck the exiting operator who had inadvertently parked the vehicle in an unsecured state (not in park, brake not engaged).honda identified the warranty claims from complaint descriptions that contended the interlock system failed to operate properly.honda presented the results of their investigation into interlock system failures at an october 16, 2003 meeting with odi in which honda identified a supplier and an engineering specification change for the ignition cylinder body (cb), a subcomponent of the ignition lock assembly.results from honda?s analysis demonstrated a strong correlation between the production date range of vehicles that experienced higher interlock warranty claim rates and the implementation dates of the changes.an engineering specification for a surface treatment process for the cb was eliminated at the beginning of my 1998.the supplier of the cb was changed in february 1999.vehicles built within this time period contain a cb with poor surface hardness that can wear prematurely.as the wear progresses, the interlock system becomes incapable of preventing key removal when the shifter IS in a non-park position.interlock failure increases the risk of a vehicle rollaway and subsequent crash or injury when vehicles are parked unsecured.honda accord vehicles subject to this change include my 1998 and my 1999 through february 1999 production.vehicles produced after this date are not affected by this condition and thus are not considered at risk for failure.odi notes that 12 of the 13 voq reports fall within this production range (the 13TH does not have a vin and cannot be verified).the above population represents the number of the accord vehicles to be recalled.honda also reported that certain odyssey and acura cl and TL models were affected and would also be recalled.a total of 570,120 vehicles will be recalled.under recall 03v-423, honda will inspect vehicles and replace components (including the cb) on vehicles with excessive wear.vehicles not showing wear will have a redesigned part installed which prevents wear.
This pe was opened based on 10 consumer complaints in the odi database alleging that the power assisted seats were failing in certain 1998-2002 honda accord vehicles.failures are concentrated in the 1998-99 model year vehicles.the bracket that attaches the seat bottom to the seat base IS fracturing due to: 1-THE weld condition of bracket, 2-THE drivers weight, and 3-THE impact on the seat when the driver enters the vehicle and sits down.over time the bracket that attaches the seat may fail at the left front corner of the seat bottom.the other 3 points of attachment of the seat bottom to the seat base stay attached and the seat movement IS limited.the attachment of the seat bottom to the seat back does not fail.the condition IS most apparent during rapid acceleration causing the seat to tilt rearward.although a few complaints report concern over loss of vehicle control, no loss of control incidents, crashes or injuries are reported.in response to customer complaints, honda will provide owners of 1998 and some 1999 accords a no-cost reinforcement for the seat at the left front corner.a safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
