The contact owns a 1999 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front of the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The contact's father inspected the vehicle and discovered that the sub-frame was severely corroded. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to an A/C condensation leak onto the sub-frame, causing the sub-frame to corrode. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 188,000.
Why you are driving the RPMs drop down to zero and the car just shuts off and you could be sitting at a light it does the same thing our traffic it is just shut off I Googled about the car and it said it was the ignition switch and then when I Googled that it said it was a recall on my car I'm just trying to see what's going on
The contact owns a 1999 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the steering wheel was vibrating abnormally. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had the alignment checked by an independent mechanic who determined that the passenger’s side subframe was extremely rusted, causing the vehicle to be out of alignment. The mechanic also advised the contact that the A/C drain tube had drained over the subframe on the passenger side and might have been a contributing factor to the extreme rusting of the subframe. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The subframe is rotting out and I’m feeling unsafe driving it
The contact owns a 1999 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was high resistance in the front driver's side air bag due to the air bag connector failure. The dealer diagnosed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the air bag was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact associated the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V026000 (Air Bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
The contact owns a 1999 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle jerked and inadvertently decelerated. The SRS light indicator is lit showing airbag malfunction unbreaks there is a 10 or clip where the brake pad is located that is broken and leaves the break end break mode leaving my brake lights on after engine shut off
The contact owns a 1999 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at 40 mph, the contact stated the vehicle in front suddenly braked, which caused the contact to depress on their brake pedal however the vehicle began to spin out of control and hit another vehicle in the next lane on the front passenger side door by the contacts front bumper. The contact vehicle did not sustain any damage, however, the vehicle they hit the front passenger side tire came off of that vehicle. There was no one was injured. No medical treatment was needed. No police report was filed. The contact was concerned that the cause of their vehicle spinning out of control was due to the brakes system. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 186,000.
When your driving out of the blue the car will just cut off when it feels like it and you have to try to coast to the side of the road and let the car sit for a minute and try to start it a couple of time before it will actually start 95 % of the time it happens while the car IS in motion its happened on the interstate and city streets the other 5% of the time it happens when I come out to start the car it will start then sometimes it will just shut off and it's unsafe when I'm on the interstate in the middle lane and my car just shuts off and im coasting in traffic trying to get to the shoulder without getting hit

My vehicle was in the left turn lane waiting for the light to turn green. I went and didnt realize the far right lane was for parking only on a 1 way street left headed east it was a 1 way with 2 lanes moving forward a 1 lane next to the curb where vehicles park in front of there residents. I slammed into the back of the parked white chevy truck. My vehicle came to a sudden stop forcing my body forward towards the windshield. My seatbelt only restrained my body so far so I used my foot to apply the brake. My cars passenger side air bag did deploy but the drivers side did not. My vehicle needed to be towed because it was not drivable. I then later had a friend drive me to the emergency room. I didnt want to go by ambulance due to pandemic in place. About 2 to 3 weeks later I recieved the recall letter in my mailbox. Since the accident I have been unable to work or even daily functions. I have a crushed heel and unable to walk. Sever pain and swelling. My life has completely changed.
My wife had purchased this car new in the 1999 model year and I realize honda IS probably expecting these cars to be past their useful life. Unfortunately unaware consumers and young adults will buy these expecting to pile miles on these which honda IS known for. The problem IS with the subframe on the passenger side which supports the engine and suspension components. I personally watched this particular part of the car rapidly rust and deteriorate even after coating it with some rust inhibitors. The problem as I understand it IS the air conditioning was dripping condensation on the frame causing the structure to rot. I realized it was almost rotted through when I was putting on a new passenger side tire on, so not wanting to put money in that kind of repair, I guess my car IS done. My point IS buyer be ware, honda had to know and I still see these 1999 to 2002 models running around.

Car intermittently stalls. It happened when I was driving on a highway and almost got hit by the incoming traffic. We took it to the honda dealer and diagnosed it was the electrical portion of the ignition switch. I remembered they have a recall to replace the switch. It probably got replaced but needs to be replaced again. IS it time for another recall? Honda did not solved the problem.
While I am driving my car shuts off. The radio and lights stays on but everything on dash IS off, milage and speed. I have had everything tested but there IS nothing wrong. In jan 2020 I had this recall issue addressed at the dealer or at least I thought I did. It doesn't matter what I am doing when car shuts off. At stop light, turning the corner, on freeway... After car shuts off, I put car in park and try to restart. 90% of the time car wont restart. Pumping gas pedal doesn't help. Actually sometimes it starts and then just shuts off again or starting the car doesn't seem completed, maybe because my foot was on the gas pedal, car raves up but drops right down/off. I have been tapping the battery terminals with rubber handle of screwdriver and that seems to allow my car to start. Sometimes I drive 200 miles and it does not happen. It happens once in 90 days or twice in one week or twice in one day. This has been going on for three or four years. It IS just happening more often this past year. also, the recalled airbag IS taking too long. There should have been an airbag waiting for me seeing how honda knew it was recalled and I was still driving the car. My teenage son sits in passenger seat and now that I know of the recall I fear for his life while I drive. Covid-19 IS no excuse. Eight months waiting so far.
I am the owner of a 1999 honda accord LX. I recently brought my vehicle to a mechanic for my annual inspection. they told me that the front subframe of the vehicle IS rusted through on the passenger-side, rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive. this appears to be an issue with the position of the air conditioning drainage hose, which drains directly onto the subframe on the passenger side of the vehicle. further, this seems to be a common issue amongst 1998-2002 honda accord vehicles. this issue, which results from a design flaw, poses a serious threat to the safety of any occupants of honda accords from these years.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The above failure report counts are for model year (my) 1999 - 2001 honda accord models that were not within the scope of a related honda recall action (nhtsa 03v423); these vehicles were investigated by odi under defect petition (dp) 04-006.complaint information for other models and model years was not obtained by odi.the noted population indicates the number of vehicles (including the my 2002 accord plus the prelude and TL models) that are within the scope of honda?s new recall (nhtsa 05v-025, honda P68, P69); 402,525 of these were investigated in dp04-006.seepart 573 documents related to 05v-025 for further detail on other models and mys.odi notes that, according to honda?s analysis, interlock system warranty rates for the TL and prelude models involved in 05v-025 are similar to those of the accord models.information provided by honda during dp04-006 indicates that certain vehicles containing interlock systems made by its japanese lock manufacturing facility may contain defective internal components.in combination with certain wear and usage factors, this may lead to a condition that prevents the system from blocking removal of the ignition key when the vehicle IS not in park.if the driver leaves the transmission in a non-park position and fails to set the hand brake when parking, the vehicle may roll away and crash.interlock systems manufactured by honda?s u.s. Lock manufacturer do not appear to contain this defect and are therefore not included in the recall action. In a letter dated january 27, 2005, honda advised that it will conduct a safety recall to either upgrade (for operative systems) or repair (for inoperative systems) subject interlock systems with new design level components that do not contain the defect.
The office of defects investigation (odi) produced an information request (ir) letter dated october 14, 2004 which defined the subject vehicles as model year 1999 - 2001 honda accord vehicles which were not within the scope of prior recall action (03v423) honda conducted to resolve an interlock defect.honda submitted responses on november 29 and december 21, 2004.the failure reports noted above have been determined from odi's analysis of nhtsa's complaint database and an initial analysis of the manufacturer's ir response data (further analysis required).some of the honda reports are duplicative of odi.taking into account a shorter service life, the failure incidence of the subject vehicles IS similar to that determined when odi conducted preliminary evaluation (pe) 03-013, which involved interlock failures on older accords subsequently recalled under the 03v423 action.accordingly, the petiton IS granted and odi has opened pe05-002 to further investigate the matter.
Six of the odi complaints are duplicative of honda complaints, as well as four of the crashes.the one injury occurred when a rollaway vehicle struck the exiting operator who had inadvertently parked the vehicle in an unsecured state (not in park, brake not engaged).honda identified the warranty claims from complaint descriptions that contended the interlock system failed to operate properly.honda presented the results of their investigation into interlock system failures at an october 16, 2003 meeting with odi in which honda identified a supplier and an engineering specification change for the ignition cylinder body (cb), a subcomponent of the ignition lock assembly.results from honda?s analysis demonstrated a strong correlation between the production date range of vehicles that experienced higher interlock warranty claim rates and the implementation dates of the changes.an engineering specification for a surface treatment process for the cb was eliminated at the beginning of my 1998.the supplier of the cb was changed in february 1999.vehicles built within this time period contain a cb with poor surface hardness that can wear prematurely.as the wear progresses, the interlock system becomes incapable of preventing key removal when the shifter IS in a non-park position.interlock failure increases the risk of a vehicle rollaway and subsequent crash or injury when vehicles are parked unsecured.honda accord vehicles subject to this change include my 1998 and my 1999 through february 1999 production.vehicles produced after this date are not affected by this condition and thus are not considered at risk for failure.odi notes that 12 of the 13 voq reports fall within this production range (the 13TH does not have a vin and cannot be verified).the above population represents the number of the accord vehicles to be recalled.honda also reported that certain odyssey and acura cl and TL models were affected and would also be recalled.a total of 570,120 vehicles will be recalled.under recall 03v-423, honda will inspect vehicles and replace components (including the cb) on vehicles with excessive wear.vehicles not showing wear will have a redesigned part installed which prevents wear.
Six of the odi complaints are duplicative of the manufacturer complaints, as well as four of the crashes.the noted injury occurred when a rollaway vehicle that had been inadvertently parked in neutral struck the exiting operator.the warranty claim count shown for other represents incidents where honda's analysis of claim detail indicates the interlock system malfunctioned.the interlock system utilizes a lever to block ignition key removal when the transmission IS not in park.honda has identified a wear condition of the interlock lever that can cause the system to malfunction; when wear occurs the key can be removed from the ignition while the shifter IS in a non-park position.honda documents indicate that a manufacturing process may be the cause of interlock lever wear, and that this process was revised in january of 2001.an engineering analysis will be opened to further investigate this concern and its scope.
This pe was opened based on 10 consumer complaints in the odi database alleging that the power assisted seats were failing in certain 1998-2002 honda accord vehicles.failures are concentrated in the 1998-99 model year vehicles.the bracket that attaches the seat bottom to the seat base IS fracturing due to: 1-THE weld condition of bracket, 2-THE drivers weight, and 3-THE impact on the seat when the driver enters the vehicle and sits down.over time the bracket that attaches the seat may fail at the left front corner of the seat bottom.the other 3 points of attachment of the seat bottom to the seat base stay attached and the seat movement IS limited.the attachment of the seat bottom to the seat back does not fail.the condition IS most apparent during rapid acceleration causing the seat to tilt rearward.although a few complaints report concern over loss of vehicle control, no loss of control incidents, crashes or injuries are reported.in response to customer complaints, honda will provide owners of 1998 and some 1999 accords a no-cost reinforcement for the seat at the left front corner.a safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
